"Are you, are you looking for someone?" Noah asked, puzzled. If the owl wasn't lost and didn't like the rain, that meant that it was looking for someone or something in particular. "We could help you find them." It didn't occur to him that they might be who Tweetheart was looking for.

"Tweetheart belongs to Tweetheart" the small owl said. "Looking for Al!" And it stared intently at him, gathering up enough effort to line up words without messing it up. "Al is a bad man."

Al stared back and didn't blink for a good long while before slowly stating, "wh...ut..?..." He finally blinked then looked at Noah, "Is this a prank? Cause it's a totally good one if it is."

Noah blinked several times, rapidly, and stared at the owl, perplexed. "What? Why?" "I didn't set this up," he protested, mildly indignant. "If it's a prank it wasn't me."

"No prank." the owl said haughtily. "Bad one. Bad man. We know."
And it glared at him again before hopping off the towel it had rested its feet on on thinking about whose towel it was and where it might have been.
"Bad things will happen to both of you." it said sagely."You take what you want and do not think."

"Then someone else did," Al said resolutely to Noah. "Because nothing it is saying makes an iota of sense. Not one bit." Still, he reached back and over towards Noah, attempting to firmly but not forcefully push against his chest to move him back behind him. A gesture similar to a parent reaching across the passenger seat to catch their child as they hard break. The owl very clearly just threatened the both of them this time, and not just Al. "What ' bad things' exactly?"

"This is ridiculous," Noah protested, still staring at the owl. He let Al move him back a step, but did not yield to being behind him entirely. "It doesn't know anything about us, that's clear." He scowled at the owl, indignant. "If all you came to do was tell us we're bad people and threaten us, you can get out and get wet again, for all I care."

The owl screeched indignantly at Al. "Makes sense." it said angrily, impressed that Al considered him intimidating enough to get out of his way and try to move Noah out of his way also.
"Bad things. Bad things. Payment for what you did. You did things you shouldn't have."
Noah got a hiss of his own. "No." it said angrily. "Stupid. Always agree."

"No it doesn't," he argued and then untensed when he was suddenly reminded of the fact he was discussing this with a talking bird, which was still just a bird. "I'm not arguing with a glorified pigeon." He approached and made a shooing motion with his hand at the bird. "If you aren't going to make any sense then you can just go get hit by a low flying plane."

Noah frowned more deeply, and there was a sudden snap of anger in his eyes, an expression that looked strange on his normally gentle face. "You don't know a ******** thing," he said to the owl. His voice held a low, growling edge, and the fingers of his left hand curled slowly into a fist. "Get out or I'll throw you out myself." He took one measured step forward, clearly meaning the threat quite seriously.

The bird in spite of its size was quite intimidating, more erratic than a normal owl, more bristly and far more shrieky, something not quite right about it, as if owl instincts were competing with something else more vicious.
He picked up on the tone from Noah and curiosity made him keep talking. "You did bad things." it said in a low crooning voice. "Bad bad things. Worse than anyone knows."
Because he'd found a thread and he wanted to pull it, because that was what he did. "Didn't you."

Al backed right the ******** up and out of Noah's way, completely forgetting what he was doing about the owl situation himself as Noah clearly had a handle on the thing. He gave the other man an adoring look. Noah hardly ever got mad, like really and truly mad and it was rather startling hearing him say <********>. Damn Noah. Al made sure he was not even close to standing between the two tempers at this point. More so now as the owl seemed to hone in on Noah personally and that was not going to end well at all for it.

The owl seemed unnatural, somehow dangerous, but Noah was angry now. What could it do to him? Bite him, claw him? It might be able to hurt him, but it would take a lot of damage to get through his shield and injure him. He advanced on the owl. "I said, get out," he repeated, and moved swiftly to grab at its shoulders and legs, obviously intending to throw it out physically.

Lawr didn't like having his dignity impinged upon and though sometimes he went limp and obedient when manhandled as a way of inflicting guilt on other people, his kneejerk instinct was always to object. The owl part of his brain only made things worse, with the concept of consequence harder to grasp like this.
The result was that as Noah picked up an owl, there was a twist of motion and a blur of shifting matter and he was suddenly trying to hold a fully grown (though short) man who turned a set of razor sharp claws on him.
"Don't. Touch me." he hissed through his teeth.

It only took a moment. Things went from simply annoying and being dealt with in a flash, a swift movement that was almost not even registered at first, to now Noah was very much in danger. Al's eyes grew wide with bewilderment, but as the moments marched on so did the cycling thoughts and emotions that rushed through him. Shock, worry, fear. He saw the claws already summoned and lashing out against Noah, relief that he was still standing. Anger, so much anger, and it was right around then that Nuru was summoned and aimed to strike Lawr viciously. Anywhere he could reach him. He didn't care. Lips peeled back on both weapon and hunter in a snarl of bared teeth. The weapon inanimate, but the hunter that wielded it very much not. He roared incoherently as reasonable words escaped him. Large black pupils were fixed and intense. HP - 50/50 DMG - 4
