Icarus seemed to pale at the sight of the man in his cloak and pink spats. It was difficult to put on a strong front for the girl that stood behind him. When she taunted him, the grip he had on the front of her fuku tightened and tugged, warning.
The general however seemed amused, the edge of his mouth pulling to one side to smirk. Fingers tapped on the bones that made up the shaft of his scythe. "Spirit in that one." he commented flippantly, whiskey eyes flicking from boy to girl.
"I see we meet again Icarus." The senshi's name fell from the general's mouth in a purr that left him shuddering and silver eyes darted this way and that trying to figure out a viable escape route.
s**t. s**t. s**t.
All at once the general disappeared from before them and Icarus could feel the wild hammering of his heart as he turned, trying to keep ahold of Spacewatch, he was going to protect her --
Suddenly he was flung forward with a wild force that sent him stumbling forward until he hit the ground, knees scraped and jaw smacking against concrete. By the time he could push himself onto his back all he could see was the fluttering cloak and the general's hand around Spacewatches throat.
"I could teach you manners about that tongue," he sneered, moving his hand upward to grasp at her jaw and force it open. "Or I could take it. What do you think?"

It was only after she'd spoken, after she felt Icarus tighten his hold that she realized she'd made a mistake. That this wasn't an enemy you yelled at. This wasn't one you made fun of to chase away your fears and pretend you could maybe make a difference. This was someone who was a monster. This was like the person who killed her parents. This was what a real negaverse agent was like when they stopped hiding what they were. She started shaking with each word the man spoke, leaning closer and closer to Icarus, feeling dread forming as the man made clear he was there to bring harm. When she vanished Spacewatch thought he might have gone, left to let them shake in fear while he would watch. She made the mistake of letting her guard down. The next thing she knew, Icarus was being flung away, her grip on him lost, and a grip coming around her throat. She didn't even get a chance to scream. Her brain was in panic mode as she looked into the eyes of madness and relived every fear she felt. Helpless, weak, afraid. Her jaw held firmly, she pushed back, tears already forming, her legs kicking out, mind screaming to break free. She couldn't answer the general- fear had stolen her voice.

His body hurt. Muscles screamed in agony and protest as he forced himself to his knees having to stop because his ribs ached enough to make him think he had injured one. <********>.
Still, he got to his feet with his chest heaving and a hand clutching his side. His head throbbed but for the most part...he wasn't too injured. Which meant--
He needed to save Spacewatch.
Sluggishly, despite his frustration and desire to move faster, Icarus scrambled forward.
Meanwhile, Labyrinthite was clearly taking joy in the horrified way the girl looked at him. The child was crying and it made him laugh. The dark sound of it filled the space of the alleyway he had trapped them in when he arrived. It echoed off of brick walls and the metal stairs of the fire escapes that crawled up the side of the buildings that sandwiched them.
"I see the runt has lost her voice." He crooned, her kicks relatively ineffective from how far he held her from his body. With her jaw forced open, he reached into her mouth and grasped her tongue between the knuckle of his forefinger in his tongue and tugged threateningly. Lucky seemed to be in the girl's favor because he released her tongue and dropped her.
For one moment, Icarus thought that the general was going to be merciful, that he would walk away and he froze, for one pitiful moment just in time to see Labyrinthite back hand Spacewatch and send her flying.
"Kid!" He rasped, sandals giving out beneath him on lose rocks and he crashed to the ground again, blinded by the sudden gleam of dark metal as the scythe was lifted in Labyrinthite's hand and swung, boots carrying him back into girl's space.

Spacewatch felt like she was watching her own body from someone else's eyes. She wanted to be anywhere but there. Anywhere but in the grip of a monster. Because that was what held her aloft. A monster. He'd hurt Icarus and she was crying and weak and helpless as she kicked at he didn't stop he just laughed. Laughed and laughed and- Her eyes blew open when he grabbed her tongue, panic setting in as she fought harder to break free. But he stopped there. He stopped short of backing up the threat, dropping her into a heap on the ground. But there was no respite, no chance to run or fight. The next thing she knew was her world was spinning, pain erupting in her face then the side of her skull. Vaguely, she felt her body hit pavement. There was pain and something wet on her skin. She wanted to move but her body wouldn't let her. Something was wrong. Something was wrong, and as her vision cleared past pain, she could see Icarus. So why couldn't she move? Why wasn't he running away? She was scared. She hurt and Icarus was nearby and this man was dangerous he was going to kill them both. Icarus had to run away. Her arm moved, hand grasping ground as she tried to reach out, to signal he had to run away. But- the rest of her body wasn't listening to her. She didn't want to watch him die. She didn't want to watch someone else die because of her. Nuxaz GUT STAB? BLEED OUT? MANGLED LIMB? *All of the above* pls

It didn't seem to matter how hard he struggled to get to his feet, his body wouldn't cooperate. His knees were scraped up from every fall he took when he tried to stand up too quickly, grave loose beneath his feet and sending him down into the ground if he wasn't careful.
Icarus could see her tears and it only served to increase the fear trying to constrict around his heart. Spacewatch who was brash and foul mouth in a poor attempt to be strong when she was just a scared, orphaned kid and-- <******** this was all his fault wasn't it?
Why wasn't he stronger, better, faster.
"SPACEWATCH!" He yelled, but the sound was probably lost to her screams.
Labyrinthite did not suffer from the almost self crushing doubt and lower self esteem that the super senshi might have. No, he carried himself like a man who was bred to be confident, like someone who had faced trials and come out on top and knew that he would persevere and succeed. Behind him he could hear the struggling senshi trying to catch up to him, to be quick enough to stop what was unstoppable.
"What's the matter little girl, afraid of the boogeyman?" If the laughter in his voice didn't give away his amusement, the too-sharp and too-white grin on his mouth would have.
Whiskey-gold followed the line of her hand, back to the man who was barely on his feet with a heaving chest. Run she was telling him, like she could save him. Poor foolish little girl. "No one's going to save him, no one's going to save you." His laugh could have only been described as a dark cackle, the sound resonating around them.
Labyrinthite watched Spacewatch move, a sluggish attempt to get away and he clucked his tongue at her, scythe hoisted in the air and turned so that the heavy skull was pointed her way. Up it went and down it crashed, striking her leg with a sickening noise. The weapon fell, cracking the concrete around her leg and the blade slipping as it slid, creating a pretty little gash in which he considered leaving so she would bleed out but he wasn't quite finished with the girl.
No he was moving until he could crouch at her side, one knee pressing into the pavement when he reached for her face with one hand to force her to look at him. Fingers reached for his weapon, metal slick with blood when he lifted it until he could hold it, ignoring the way the blade bit into his own flesh, and he could trail the tip of it along her abdomen. Fabric split and white stained red until he was pressing the tip against her belly.
"Perhaps I should leave a little mark, a reminder that I'm back for whomever finds your bodies hm?"
All at once, a body was slamming into him, knocking him off balance and the weapon once again clattered to the ground. A snarl ripped from his lips as he pushed himself back onto his knees.
"Looks like the bird still has some fight in him."
Icarus had taken advantage of the temporary opening to gather his wounded friend into his arms, trying not to focus on the blood seeping from her skin or how he thought he saw blood. If he didn't get her out of there...
No he would.
The feather was in his hand, waiting for his call as he clutched Spacewatch to his chest. He wondered if she could feel the hammering of his heart against her.

There were no stories they told you growing up of the heroes that failed. They didn't tell you of the way so many rockets launched into space blew apart in the atmosphere. They didn't tell you the myths and legends of death and pride and arrogance. There were no stories they told you as a child of simply how no matter how hard you would try, you could always fail and in some cases, you inevitably would. Nobody told you of how if you tried to be a hero, you could die. Spacewatch had learned the price of being brave, she'd paid the cost of thinking herself safe. Now she was suffering the pain of pretending she was stronger than she was. Fear filled eyes looked up at the general and his smile and her felt her heart stop. This was what it was like to think you would die. He was right. There was no one who was coming to save them. Save him, save her, save anyone. They were on their own and- and- Pain. Pain she'd never had before in her life suddenly exploded in her leg, in her head as she could hear the bones breaking in her body, in her leg. They moved and shattered and she could feel it like a dozen blades and dozen hammers fighting to see which would break free of her body first. Her mind couldn't even register the gash as she was screaming, nose running with snot as she writhed in blind panic and pain, wanting to fight, to run but suddenly not able to do anything but lay and be beaten to death. This was how she'd die. Alone, helpless, beaten into the earth until nothing was left. Her vision had gone white but when she had it back, his face was there. Menacing, and she could feel it. Feel his hold over her life even if she could no longer physically feel the press of a blade to her body. Then like that, his face was gone, her head hitting the pavement and her vision beginning to turn spotty white. She was going to die- she felt her body being lifted up, and in desperation, she clutched at it. Was it Icarus? Maybe. She was shaking, her body and mind no longer working in sync as she tried to breath through her nose and failing, resorting to heavy gasps, gulping down air as she knew that sleeping was bad. Light was bad, everything was bad bad bad. She clung to him tighter. She wanted to go home.

Icarus only had a split second to act before the General would be advancing on them. He knew the man could teleport but...maybe he was off guard enough that he wouldn't come after them right away.
"Go to hell," he snarled before the name of his magic spilled from his lips and the glow surrounded his frame.
Icarus took advantage of his weightlessness to push off the ground and practically shoot out into the air above, heart pounding against his chest as he virtually flew up and took off running onto the nearest rooftop. It didn't matter where he was going at the moment, just that they got as far as they could before Labyrinthite chased him.
Each jump skyrocketed him forward and eventually he found an alley to drop into and he powered down, speaking in rapid Russian to Spacewatch. "Power down so he can't follow us." He managed to hurriedly say before he continued on, desperately looking for an ER or hospital.
The boogeyman was no where to be found.istoleyurvamps and fin <3 post-battle hospital rp y/y????
