The tawny-haired woman dropped her hands. "If that's so, then what's stopping you? Unless I'm mistaken, being able to transform doesn't magically compel you to do so. You could simply choose not to, couldn't you?" Her bright green eyes flickered to where Michel continued to watch from.

As the young man continued to speak, however, she thought she understood his standpoint better. He wasn't about to do nothing against the Negaverse; it was just that he hadn't actively seen her in particular performing any of the acts that the White Moon Senshi forbid. She shrugged lightly. "You didn't hurt me. It was my own folly, attempting to attack without a full understanding of what I was up against. You didn't actively injure me."

Tired of kneeling on the ground like a weakling, she attempted to slowly push herself back up, taking care not to lean too much weight on her hurt leg. "Your magic is well-suited to you. It seems to refrain from harming your opponent if your opponent refrains from attempting to harm anyone else. But if not, it reflects back the attacker's intentions and damages them as they intend to damage another." Forsterite winced as she tested the strength of the leg with the gash. "I'm sure you'll be able to take care of yourself just fine. As long as you're cautious and don't bite off more than you can chew, but you seem sensible enough."

She glanced at the knight out the corner of her peripheral vision. So much for 'walking away just fine'. But that was okay. No pain, no gain, and she was sure she would have to endure much worse in the future. It was to be expected of being a soldier in a war.

Malus nodded a few seconds after she had spoken; he seemed to have truly considered her words—and agreed. Maybe she was right; maybe his magic was suited to him.

Whatever her intention had been, whatever she meant by her words, something seemed to click inside of him. He didn’t really feel like his magic was his magic, and he didn’t understand it. But, maybe she was right. He put more thought into it and relaxed, but still cast her a worried glance.

“All right,” he finally said, and even sounded somewhat convinced.

“But I am sorry you got hurt. Are you going to be okay getting home? Do you want some help, or should we just head in the other direction and give you some privacy?”

The lieutenant appeared both surprised and pleased that her words seemed to get through to the senshi. She deemed it likely the last time anyone of the White Moon would heed her advice - not that she was likely to be giving them much, anyway. However, it was nice for one's opinion to be given consideration, especially by someone considered the opposition.

Being enemies and disagreeing didn't mean people couldn't respect one another. She was impressed with the senshi of glass' self-conduct; far more than with the knight's to be sure.

"Stop looking at me like that," Forsterite told the young man, purposefully avoiding the meeting of his gaze herself. "You wouldn't be so sorry if you knew me better."

She tested her weight with a step and thought she would be able to make it. It hurt, but shallow cuts often hurt more than deep ones and she could bear it for the walk home, especially with the boost to her physical abilities that being powered up gave her. "Spare me your pity. I'd like to have my dignity intact by the time I reach my residence, which I believe myself to be more than capable of doing even with this cut."

Glancing back over her shoulder, she wondered if the knight would stop her. He hadn't said anything so far, so pondered if that meant she had fulfilled the purpose he'd intended her to have and thus was free to go. "I'll be taking my leave, now. You may do as you wish."

Malus’ lips pursed then; he found himself nodding, but not entirely understanding. This time, her words didn’t change how he felt.

He didn’t identify the emotion as pity—pity always sounded so bad. But it was true that he cared, particularly about this misfortune that had befallen her because of his magic. He wasn’t so sure that he wouldn’t still feel sorry if he knew her better, but he didn’t argue with her. “Thank you for practicing with me,” he said, genuinely meaning it.

Michel nodded only finally now uncrossing his arms from his chest and moving towards the Senshi. “Take care of yourself. Have a good night,” he said simply, and though his tone sounded like he might have meant it, there was still something undeniable impassive about the words.

Maybe he cared, maybe he didn’t; he was nearly unreadable.

But, he was letting her leave without any further hardship, so he couldn’t have been too unhappy.
