"Vienna... diagram?" Her expression went extremely confused for a long moment, then cleared as she realized what Joy meant. "OH a Venn diagram! How you show how things are connected or related, or something like that..." The switch from that to her trying to explain it other ways made her sit back. "So there's two kinds of Shadows... and some are bad, and some are... not?" She looked confused by THIS too. "How does that work, exactly? I mean... I thought... the Shadows were... bad. That's why they came out to terrify us. And..." She paused, realizing that Joy had emphasized 'FEAR' in a way that was different from fear. "FEAR? What is... FEAR? It sounds like fear, the emotion, but... how would a being be made of an emotion?" And then the last part, which caused her to look very grim indeed. "So basically, I wont be able to tell if a Shadow is evil and out to get me until it tries to kill me?"

"Oh you mos def will know if a Shadow is out to get you." At this point, Joy raised her shirt, unconcerned to reveal the bare skin and her bra underneath. She didn't need to point at the series of deep scars along her side, they were rather obvious. "And they're gonna wanna do more than just claw you up. There are nicer ones out there, some'll give you info about how messed up things are. Hell, the awesome ones will even protect you from Horsemen! But until you learn who is who, you need your weapon to protect you from those that wanna make your insides your outsides."
The series of sentences had been spoken as one long string of words but Joy didn't sound like she was out of breath. Missions and training had a way of building stamina and endurance.

Seren frowned as she thought about this, and about how terrified she'd been all her life in the darkness of the family basement. "So... the ones that I saw hints of at home... were probably mostly harmless, just... wanted to scare me? Am I understanding that right?" She leaned back, trying to process all of this. Yes, the person who had found her had said they were real but the information given before she faked her death and WOKE UP was, in her mind, missing a LOT of essentials. She couldn't help thinking they were kind of predatory, the people who sought candidates. At least if her life was one to go by... After all, they took advantage of her being completely vulnerable. Still, they could have left her to live the s**t life that had been heading her way. And then her eyes refocused on Joy, and the scars. Those were some impressive scars. "Oh man those look like they must have ******** hurt. Did you need stitches for that?"

The moon lowered her shirt back, less out of any sense of modesty (they were both women after all, not like they didn't have the same bits as each other) and more because it was just awkward. "There are pamphlets that you get during your orientation, um, I should go get you some. Any deeper deets you might wanna ask the peeps over in Life and Death. They're the info-guys."
Without missing a beat, Joy grinned and gave Seren a wink and a thumbs up, "Sus ginoo did they hurt. And I mos def needed stitches. And blood donations. Woulda died if the Hunters hadn't come in and saved me in the nick of time."

Seren was clearly not bothered by the other lady's lack of modesty, and payed more attention to the words. "Life and Death? Are those the people who teach me what I need to know?" It was very clear she had no idea about the divisions, as yet. "A pamphlet would be nice, if it does a good job of explaining things. Good explanations would be wonderful." She sighed, beginning to feel like she was actually going to be ok, and able to live and walk, again, though everything still felt surreal and unbelievable. "I am glad they managed to save you, that sounds like a horrible way to die..."

"Eh, we can't pick how we die. I just hope when my time comes I go out blazing!" Joy grinned, "You steady enough? I think you should go get your weapon bond ASAP. The island's not exactly good for peeps who don't got a FEAR shield."

"I suppose that's true enough... But still, going down like that sounds awful." She sighed. "Still, if I'm going to go down, I think I'd rather it be fighting, and fighting hard, for something important." She blinked at the question, and considered herself for a long minute, before slowly standing up, seeing how her balance felt, and her energy level. After a moment, she finally nodded. "All right, I think I can do this. Where do I go from here?" She paused and then added "And seriously, thank you, Joy. You've helped me feel better, a lot better."

Joy gave the younger woman a friendly smile and still offered her arm, "I can show you to the Cove entrance but that's as far as I got. It's something you gotta do on your own. Unless you woke up with others and go down together, I think you can do that too?" she mused with a cant of her head, "And no probs! It's what we're here for! I mean, pod duty's so that you don't gotta wake up alone and end up wandering into danger before getting your weapon bond."Aria Starstone We can wrap up here if you want OvOb

"I... Think, if I get good directions, I can find it myself... I'd hate for you to be showing me, and some other poor newb wakes up and needs you. I mean, that would be just my kind of luck!" She accepted Joy's arm, and smiled warmly. "And while probably true, I doubt everyone is as friendly and kind as you... Some probably are like 'here. sit.' and gruff and all that. Dunno! Still. Yeah." She paused, then added "But if you doubt anyone else will wake, I'd appreciate the company before I go do the getting the weapon. Being alone on a dangerous island doesn't sound smart either, come to think."
