Trevor shrugged at Oscar's apology. "No big deal, you were joking. I can tell the difference between someone being mean and someone just joking around." He replied.

Trevor's eyes widened at Oscar's talking about people hanging from the rim. "Just how does that work? How do they get up there? Jumping?" He tried to picture such a maneuver in his head. "I definitely need to watch a game. I'll have to see if I can get my dad to take me to a game or something. that's one good thing about not getting presents, but events and outings for birthdays. My parents are more about experiencing things live than just sitting around." He explained.

He turned to eye Oscar and wondered just how strong the other boy was. "I'd imagine you'd be pretty strong what with maneuvering yourself around with your arms for so many years." He grinned at the boy's saying he could do anything in books. "Yeah imagination is a pretty powerful thing, you can be anyone and do anything you want.

Trevor glanced at Oscar with a frown. "I thought it was your turn? Or are you just being nice to me cause I'm a rookie?" He asked with a teasing tone. "I suppose I wouldn't mind trying it again, just to see if I can make it. It would probably take me a few tries though." He warned.

Trevor sighed at the other's words. "Well kids are just scared of what they don't know or understand. Until I actually talked to you I have to admit I was a bit well..scared of wheelchairs. It's kind of been a fear of mine that if I lost mobility that life would be boring. So..uh..yeah," He said a bit uncomfortably and rubbed the back of his neck.

Oscar nodded, "That is a relief." he said.

Oscar grinned, "Yes jumping, thou their hight is also a factor. Most professional, teams have players well over 2.1 meters. And they are muggles not giants. Well I guess muggle wise they are giants" he said then shook his head."but I digress."

Oscar nodded "Yeah I guess I am pretty strong because of that." he agreed shooting the ball from the same spot, "I am going easy on you because you are a rookie, but I'm still going to take my shot. I was asking if you wanted me to shoot from a different spot or not." He explained.

Oscar nodded "Yes, I noticed. If it wasn't for the game, you wouldn't have spoken to me. And to a lot of disabled rookies, it seems like it is the end of the world." he said knowing all too well.

Trevor just shook his head and grinned at him. "Do people have a hard time telling if you're joking?" He asked looking at Oscar curiously.

Trevor listened to Oscar explain further on how people caught the rim of the basket and whistled when he said how tall they were. "Dang, that is tall. I've seen a few muggles that were pretty close to that size. I don't mind if you get off topic, I find what you're talking about rather interesting." He replied with a smile.

Trevor eyed Oscar and watched how he held and aimed the ball to get it into the basket. "Well I do appreciate it," He told Oscar with a smile. He moved to get the bouncing ball and moved to stand where Oscar had been. He took his time aligning the ball and getting it in the right angle before bouncing the ball a few times and then flung the ball towards the basket. This time the ball swished through without touching any of the sides.

"Cool, I guess I just need to take my time with lining it up more, I seem to do much better when I do that." He observed with a thoughtful look.

Trevor glanced over at Oscar looking a bit embarrassed. Well I'm glad I did. You're a cool guy. I bet other people would be interested in learning your game too. It's a lot of fun." He told him. "I guess it just takes them awhile to figure out that it's not the end."

Oscar chuckled a little, "Well I guess I could be hard to read. You'd hats ask others thou, because if I am no one has told me." he explained

Oscar nodded "Yeah, oh it be cool to see a world series, it's more popular in America the it is in Britain. but we still have amazing teams in both normal and "paralyzed" fields. or rather court as the case may be."

Oscar nodded "No problem. It's nice to get to show it to someone. he said watching him throw. "It dose seem like you learn by watching, but in a real game there's no time to line up perfectly. But that might be a lesson for a different day." he said as we rolled to a new spot.

"Unfortunately not everyone wants to learn." Oscar said taking the new shot. it bouncing off the wall before going in.

He grinned back at Oscar's chuckle and shook his head a bit.
"Well that's okay, I'll just have to hang out with you more to figure you out better. That is if you don't mind. I could always use more friends, even if they are older."

Trevor was getting more and more excited at the idea of seeing an actual game with his father. It would definitely be something new and fun to do. He and his father didn't do too many things alone all that much, so it would be special.

"I didn't realize it was that big of a deal in America. I guess I'll have to do more research on basketball over the holiday. I kind of doubt that there are any books on basketball in the Hogwarts library." He said with a shrug of his shoulders.

Trevor smirked slightly when he heard Oscar say it was nice to show someone how to play. He scratched his head as Oscar explained that there wouldn't be time to line the ball up in a real game.

"So then I guess I'll just need more practice if I wanted to get really good at the game. I'd be up for another lesson if you have time for it. Maybe we can figure out a few days and times that might work for more lessons. I kind of want to keep learning the game and do better. Once I set my mind to learning something I kind of won't give up on that goal." He admitted with determined and serious tone.

He didn't really have much to say when Oscar told him not everyone would want to learn. "Well then I guess I will have to make it look cool, entice more people to join. I could try some of this dunking you mentioned, maybe you can do some trick shots. I bet kids would want to learn more if they saw that sort of thing." He suggested.

He moved to retrieve the ball, running to catch it before it went too far. Then he moved to where Oscar had been sitting and shot it without looking too much. The ball bounced and looked like it might go in then bounced off the rim and down to the ground. "Ah well, guess I just need more practice," He said with a grin as he ran to catch the ball. "If you can stand my presence for longer than an hour, maybe I can join you for lunch. We can talk more about basketball or perhaps something else if you'd like." Trevor suggested as he moved around dribbling the ball before tossing it to Oscar.

Oscar nodded "That is a good way to figure anyone out. Spend time with them." he agreed.

Oscar nodded "That's true the library wouldn't have basketball books, but I do have some old magazines, It's no "History of Quiddtich" but it might give you a better idea.... I use to get them all the time at the center were our team would practice, Then we were told we could get a subscription. My parents forward it by owl once it shows up, Muggle post is surprisingly slow." he admitted "I can get you some of my old copies. Next time."

Oscar smiled "Well it is against the rules for the other guy to knock the ball out of your hands however blocking and intercepting on a pass is a great way to get it. Which is why there isn't much time." he admitted. "Yeah, I'm sure there's some muggle born or raised who know how to play the game, though I haven't really looked for anyone." he said with a shrug, "But I might be a bit impartial to the whole quidditch game thing." he said.

On the miss Oscar smiled, ""O" for me. Close but you hit the rim, you need you use the angle of your bounce to get it in." he said taking the same shot again. "It's easy to focus on just basket itself but, from this angle it's different from the two spots before." he explained.

He thought for a moment then got his wand out and traced where backboard and the little square would be in the air with the tip of the wand. then maneuvered the two lines into place up on the wall as if it were the part of the basket. "Maybe that will help you." he said before putting his wand back into his backpack, "It definitely will the closer we get, your dribbling is getting better, harder to look up and dribble a ball but that'll be something to work towards. Just be happy you don't have to deal with a chair as well." he smirked

User Image Trevor raised a eyebrow at Oscar's agreeing with him. It didn't escape his notice that Oscar hadn't really agreed that he'd like to spend more time with him. Perhaps Oscar just wasn't the type that liked a lot of company. "So, does that mean you wouldn't mind my company?" He asked with raised eyebrow.

Trevor was beginning to realize that Oscar was a great source of information.
Though he didn't think it would be smart to bother him all the time with questions he had, that would probably frustrate the boy. I would appreciate that, I'd love to learn more about the game. Sadly getting magazines or books isn't really something my parents would allow. They're pretty strict about the minimal lifestyle."He said with a sigh. "I suppose one day I can buy what I want and collect what I want." he nodded at Oscar's words, feeling happy that the boy mentioned the next time. So he did want to teach him again soon.

He concentrated listening to Oscar explain more about the game and made thoughtful sounds as he thought about what Oscar was saying. "So how long is a normal game? Oh, I know some first years that are in hufflepuff that are muggle born, that might know the game. I'll ask them. I met them on the train on the way here,"He said with a smile. "Let's see if I can recall their names; Tony, Isaac, uh, and Joshua. They could know others too." He said with a grin.

Trevor grinned at Oscar's quip about being impartial to quidditch. "Maybe there could be a way to make a ground version of Quidditch so younger kids could practice and play without having to bother with brooms," He said thoughtfully.

"Wait, how is it an O for you? I was the one that missed."Trevor asked scratching his head. He moved to eye the angle as Oscar explained and then took the same shot again. "Okay, that makes sense, I think."He laughed and shook his head. I will eventually get this down." He said with a determined look in his bright eyes.

Trevor went to retrieve the ball and then stood holding it as Oscar used his wand to make lines in the air for him to use to get the ball in the basket easier. he scratched his head. "It probably will," He agreed and dribbled the basketball ad then moved to take the shot again. This time the ball went in without a problem, the net swishing as the ball went through. "You're a good teacher Oscar," He said turning to smile at the boy. "Thanks for taking a chance and teaching me."

Oscar nodded his head. "I guess I could have said that better." he admitted realizing that he could have been clearer with saying he didn't mind Trevor coming and playing with him. "Yeah as long as it doesn't cut in our studding too much." he admitted "I am a Ravenclaw I have a reputation to uphold after all" he said kind of joking. "Though if it rains or snows it wouldn't really matter" he said. "Last thing I need is my wheels gumming up."

Oscar nodded "Yeah I know right, "Our house our rules" don't know how many times I heard that one. And not always from my own parents. Though I guess all parents are like that," he said with a shrug.

"Yeah they could know it." he agreed "If they and you became a team you'd need one more player." he admitted "It's always good to have more the five players but five are always in play for each team." he said going to a new spot.

"It's an O because you weren't able to copy the shot that I did. Though I guess we could be going by letter per miss in which case you would have an R" he said "and Spelling Horse would be who loses." he admitted as he threw the ball.
"Well I have a little sister who likes to follow me around. She's my little Shining Star. know what I mean Scully? But thanks I'm never sure if I'm explaining things right because everyone learns differently." he admitted

Trevor chuckled at Oscar when he admitted he could have said it better. "Don't worry about it, sometimes I do have a hard time understanding what other people mean." He assured him. His nodded at Oscar. "well of course, if my studies and grades dropped I'd be in hot water with my parents. It may be my first year and all, but they have some high expectations for me. I may be in Slytherin but I aim to be a good student." Trevor replied. "Oh well that explains how knowledgeable you are," He said winking at Oscar's joke. "I wouldn't dream of ruining your reputation."

Trevor made a face at the thought of rain or snow. "Gosh, does it rain a lot here? I heard someone say there are almost monsoons here at times. I bet it would be hard to clean up wheels that get all gummed up." He said thoughtfully. "Aren't there any cleaning spells that would help with that?"

Trevor nodded, from what he had heard the three boys talking about he figured they probably did know the game. They sounded like they had just learned of magic and the magicking world. He wondered how they were dealing with all these strange classes and being surrounded by magic every day. "One more huh? I bet i could find someone. Then we could all practice together. I'll have to see if I can recruit them first. They sounded like they were just learning about the magicking world. I can't imagine how strange it must sound to them." He said shaking his head.

Trevor listened closely while Oscar explained the game again. He felt a bit annoyed with himself that he hadn't remembered this from before. He was sure Oscar had more than likely said it before, perhaps he just had missed it. Or his blimey memory hadn't stored it away. He was going to have to work on fine tuning his memory. He knew that all his school classes would require it, he might as well get into the habit of doing it.

"Oh okay, somehow I must have forgotten. Maybe we should go with me having an R, since it will make the game go by faster. I guess I'll learn in time, losing isn't the end of the world." he replied and watched as Oscar's ball went in the net perfectly. He went to catch the ball as it bounced across the ground and then moved to stand where Oscar had been.

He smiled at Oscar's story about his little sister. "She sounds a bit annoying, I suppose younger siblings can be though. I may have to ask questions to clarify sometimes, but for the most part you're an excellent teacher Oscar." he replied grinning at the nickname the other had given him. "Skully huh? Maybe I ought to call you Coach." He said smiling

Oscar chuckled, "Well not my reputation my house's reputation." he smirked "We are the "brain trust" of Hogwarts after all though there are students who like learning in other houses." He said.

Oscar nodded "Yeah the weather is quite unpredictable here. Some days you can get the feeling of all four seasons. Well sometimes mixing charm spells can have ill affects... and my getting up and down stairs is more important then clean wheels." he said "The big wheels do have an advantage to not getting stuck as often, but the smaller wheels... well it's not like my "hand crank" seat or my racing seat. the hand crank one is basically thing similar to a bike. So more likely to attract mud. Wheel care doesn't seem all that different from broom care." he said with a shrug.

"One more to make a single team. though you still wouldn't be able to play an actual game as that would take even more people. And being the only wheel bound one around here, I can't really assemble a team that I can play on, which might be why I haven't really asked anyone. But I am an Experiment... more or less so they would be starting with only one." he nodded.

"Yeah finding out about magic just before you come to the school could be a bit jarring. Heck my team doesn't even know I'm going to a magic school, they think it's some boarding school that I got a scholarship for. I do kind of hate lying to them but if it weren't for my useless legs I probably wouldn't know them at all." he admitted.

Oscar smiled. "It's alright, it's something that's new, and as a first year there's a lot of new stuff to remember." he admitted. "It's not as important as the other information you've been learning."

Oscar chuckled "It can be, but she is able to walk so I'm happy to have her around. She didn't really realize that I was any different than anyone till my getting on the train for the first time." he admitted "Since all team mates were also in chairs and all." he smiled "But thanks I'll keep it mind, It's kind of a thing I do. Some names take longer then others but I do try to give them to each of my friends. But I guess I am coaching you." he chuckled.

((actually found that tidbit about the weather from the making of "The Princess Bride" book and how the weather can turn on a dime))

Trevor couldn't help but grin at Oscar's reply. "Oh, of course, your house's reputation has to be upheld." He agreed. "We can't have them looking bad," he teased. "I've never really thought that all the smart kids ended up in Ravenclaw. Though the ones that value intelligence might. I personally know a few kids in other classes that can and do give Ravenclaws a run for their money."

He couldn't help but shake his head. "Oh I know it, I've gone through the four seasons all within a day before. It's kind of scary when it happens," he commented. Trevor couldn't help but wonder how Filch took having to clean up the mud from Oscar's wheels. "I hope Filch doesn't give you a hard time about dragging in the mud. It's not like you can help it sometimes. I imagine he can be tough on you when you do." He said thinking about it. "I imagine it is very much the same."

Trevor made a sound thinking about who else he could invite to make a team that could practice with him. Then sighed hearing they'd need more for a second team and someone else to take Oscar's place. "Well, that's kind of sad. I wonder if we could get brooms, and play that way. It wouldn't be the same, but we'd have to rely on balancing over using our legs. I guess it doesn't matter. As long as they want to learn and we just practice we don't really need to assemble a team." he replied with a shrug.

Trevor nodded, it was a lot to wrap one's mind around. "Well, we do kind of have to follow the rules about not telling muggles our secrets. I imagine most of your teammates would just think you were joking around and laugh if you were to tell them the truth. Heck, i bet some people would think you were crazy."

Trevor felt like he must look like a parrot bobbing its head with all the nodding he had been doing all day. "Yeah, it is a lot." He agreed with a sigh. "It may take me a few weeks to get it all down and memorize the rules."

he couldn't help but feel amused at Oscar's little sister's reaction. He imagined that Oscar was glad that someone had accepted him for who he was and didn't judge him for being different. Wasn't that what everyone wanted though?

"Well, that had to have been strange for her to realize. I'm sure she's was more weirded out by everyone else is different than you were. Oh, I don't mind the nickname at all, It's kind of the first one I've gotten, well other than daredevil. Then again, that's more of a moniker than a nickname." He added with a laugh. "I'm sure I give all the teachers heart palpitations when they find me doing crazy stuff. Like attempting to climb up the outside of the astronomy tower."

He paused to glance at the hoop and dribbled the ball a few times before attempting the previous shot. He easily made it and grinned. "I think I'm slowly improving, how much longer do you want to practice for?" He asked.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 12, 2017 8:33 pm

Oscar chuckled, "True not all the smart students are in Ravenclaw, but all Ravenclaws are smart, in some way." he pointed out "Though I guess Slyitheren would most likely come in second in the brains department being as their the cunning. Though it might be more practical application then in a classroom."

Oscar rubbed his head a bit, "Well everyone who has to go out in the rain, or the greenhouses, would track mud into the castle, I just happen to leave a longer trail then peoples shoes do." he said with a shrug. "But he would have to chew out every student."

Oscar nodded, "true, there is always one on one, and so on." he admitted. "and I don't think flying a broom would work with having to dribble the ball. Yeah I have the double bounce, than a quick wheel spin double bounce dribble. I guess we could transfigure a few wheelchairs it make it even for me. but then you wouldn't get the full use of your body." he said just thinking aloud.

Oscar nodded, "It's vary possible that It could be." he admitted, "On a whole most muggles prefer to not see the magic, where others seem intrigued by it. Now that I think about it one of my teammate's brothers does muggle style magic. Cheep tricks compared to the real deal but something tells me they would like knowing the true story. Then again, they might get mad for not having say anything sooner." he said a little hesitant.

"Well my father is a healer at St Margo's. So that also might have helped her to think there were more people in chairs, and it wasn't that oddity. However she and both Mum and Dad can walk so I don't know how weirded out it would be."

Oscar chuckled a little himself, "The Astronomy Tower? Well falling off it might be a little messy." he said looking up one of the walls "Then again I have my own mountain to climb if someone wants to be mean and knock over my chair, though it takes quite a lot of effort to do that..... without magic. Not t hat it happens a lot." he shrugged. "Climbing up a tower must be different though."

Oscar watched as the ball went though the basket turned hoop. "I don't know if you need a break I don't mind stopping for a bit. I could even go snag my Basketball magazines." he said wheeling over to catch the ball. "I think we kind of lost what letter we were on." he admitted.

User Image Trevor grinned at Oscar's chuckle. He nodded completely agreeing with the boy's words. "Yeah, that makes sense to me. I know a Ravenclaw in my year that's not smart in everything, but if you ask him about history, he knows it backward and forwards. It's kind of crazy how much he can recall."

Trevor felt almost like an idiot that he hadn't thought of that. He nodded. "Oh I know, I've been on the receiving end of his tongue before. He's can get pretty nasty." He said shuddering slightly recalling how the man had berated him for a good fifteen minutes about tracking in the dust on his clean floor. He had known better to not mention that the dust had come from inside the castle.

Trevor felt a bit sad that there wasn't a way to assemble a team a the school that Oscar would be able to play with. "We can figure something out. We don't have to figure it all out today." He said. He could tell that Oscar was already trying to figure out how to make it work. He imagined that the other boy wouldn't rest until he figured out how to make something that would work.

Trevor hadn't really been around too many muggles so he wasn't sure about there being a bunch of them that would want to know more about it or not. He'd just have to trust Oscar though. he was older and he seemed to have a whole team of them that he spent time with. "Muggles do magic tricks? Interesting." He was trying to imagine what sorts of tricks they might do. Probably slight of hand mostly. "I'm going to have to do some research on muggle magic tricks now." He said feeling very intrigued by finding out more.

It seemed the more he spent time with Oscar the more he learned from him.

He made a thoughtful sound when the other boy explained that his father was a healer and that his sister had grown up seeing a lot of people in wheelchairs. It definitely could have made the girl think that it was normal for people to be in them. "Well she'll figure it out eventually. She's probably smart like you."

Trevor couldn't help but grin when he heard Oscar chuckle over his escapade. "Yeah, thankfully I haven't fallen yet. I've gotten pretty good at climbing up places that look impossible. Probably from all the rock climbing I've done over the years." He admitted. He felt a bit annoyed to think that someone would try and knock Oscar out of his chair. "That's happened before?" He asked his brow furrowing in annoyance. He felt his face getting hard at the thought that someone would treat Oscar that way.

"I think we are all given challenges that we have to learn how to overcome." He said thoughtfully. "It is different, You kind of have to keep your eyes looking forwards and up. If you look back or down you're more likely to fail."

Trevor smiled at Oscar's words. "Well taking a break on a high note sounds good to me. Oh, yeah that would be fun to look at them." He agreed. he couldn't help but laugh and shook his head. "Yeah I think we did. It's okay, we can try and play again sometime soon."

"Able to recall that well? Well it could be he's on his way to having an Eidetic Memory and being to remember things that most would for most, and when I say more then most I mean all, or he could just really like history... or reading." he said. "The Ghost Professor is kind of a bore, ironically it makes the book more interesting. Though I'd rather have a good adventure book over text book any day of the week."

Oscar nodded "Yeah he is bit of a grump, but having that much of a castle to clean. It can't be too easy, he's the only one of the cleaners to be aloud to be seen cleaning. And I know I've made my mum upset a time or two because of bringing something in where she just cleaned." he admitted. "I mean I know there's got to be some house elves here but have you ever seen one cleaning?" he asked

"Yeah I don't think I practiced enough last year my team said I wasn't good shape. Doing drills is a great way to learn things. Though playing one on one would be better practice, I guess those that have more muggle world knowledge would know how to play but again I do have the only chair. I wouldn't want to force someone to have to use one of these things just so I can have a fair game. Though I guess one on one with a rookie like you would be fair." he said with a bit of the smirk at the end.

Oscar nodded, "Oh yeah, they even have "magic" wands, though they don't have any core. So you can imagine just how much magic those coreless wands are. Though muggle magic is impressive since there is no real magic to it." he said, "Then again that might be in the eye of the beholder."

Oscar nodded "Yeah you're right." he agreed with a small smile.

"That sounds interesting, You need a lot of arm strength to do that, no wonder you're picking up shots so quickly." he said with a nod. "I'd have to see if there's a handicap harness and see if I can get anywhere. Then again it might be better to just stay where my wheels can go."

Oscar nodded, "Once or twice though it's normally more after hitting a slick spot. It's better then the ones that try to over compensate and don't know how to act. I'm not that much different from any other boy. At least those gym sock for brains act like that to everyone and not differently as the Chair-Scared ones. Once last year someone made one of the halls have a layer of ice, well I was lucky I didn't fall out on that one. Ran into a wall though." he said.

Oscar nodded, "Yeah I guess that is true, Nice rock climbing metaphor by the way." he smirked

"I'll have to remember that for next time, not to play Horse with a rookie that's still learning the rules. But you did impressively for never having held one of these before." he said reaching around his chair to the backpack to get his wand to bring down the bottomless basket. "Don't want a certain cleaner to find it after all." he said before levitating it down.

Trevor listened to Oscar wondering if the kid he was thinking of did have that sort of memory or not. "I guess I'll have to ask him next time I bump into him." He said thoughtfully. "I wouldn't be surprised if he does though. It's almost scary how much he knows. I bet he'd teach the class better and make it more interesting than the Professor of Bore," He replied with a slight grin. "If homework didn't take up so much time I'd have more time to read for fun." He said making a slight face. "Maybe I should see if I can find someone to help me with the tough stuff." He sighed.

Trevor thought over what Oscar said and nodded. "You're right, that's enough to make anyone a grump. I should try and be less messy, though half the time he takes his anger out on the wrong person." He said with a sigh. "I can't say I have seen any house elves cleaning."

"Well maybe if you practice against me that will help you stay in better shape," Trevor suggested with a grin. "I wouldn't mind at all."

"Fascinating," Trevor said feeling a bit amazed that muggles could do magic that wasn't really magic. "I'll have to see if I can find out more about it."

He nodded at Oscar and frowned slightly when the older boy said it might be easier to just go where his wheels could go. "Where's the fun in that though? You got to live a little at least. Sometimes you have to try things out of the ordinary every now and then. If you don't go out of your comfort zone you get stuck in a rut."

"Well I try," Trevor replied with a laugh. "I might be a slytherin but that doesn't mean I'm not smart or bright. Well depending on the subject." He added with a sigh.

"Well we could try it again in the future. I just have to learn the rules." He felt his cheeks get rather warm at the other's complement at him doing so well for his first time. "So, umm..when is next time? The next warm day?" He asked following Oscar back to the castle.

He was already looking forwards to their next game.
