He understood that he was being difficult, perhaps unnecessarily so, because this agent clearly wanted out but he was afraid, something he loathed to admit. It was fear that was wrapping around his heart, a tight grip he didn't think was keen on letting go any time soon when he nodded.
"I'll find you," he promised, strained smile on his mouth as he took a hesitant step back. Midgard had nothing left to say, but he felt like he should and perhaps that was what made leaving hard.
Turning his back was the worst, fear that he had been duped threatening to overcome him. It wasn't like when he was a captain and he could just teleport away and to safety, no, he had to walk - run - away and that left him vulnerable.
"Until then," he offered with a two fingered salute before he gathered his courage, turned his back, and left.

It wasn't until Manheimr disappeared from view around the corner that Chrysotile started shaking. What was he doing? His mind whirled a thousand miles an hour with everything he'd been told -- and everything that could go wrong. He didn't want to think of the wrath he'd be encurring from both Quartz and Schorl, especially the latter, if he was caught before he completed the purification. He was putting his life on the line, literally.
And what about his family? They were already in danger just from living in Destiny City -- what further danger would they be put in? There was no guarantee he'd be better equipped to watch over them from afar if he purified. For all he knew, he'd revert back to a civilian, not become a knight like Manheimr. He still didn't completely understand what would happen to him, only that he would no longer have Chaos controlling his soul. Was that alone worth it?
He thought about the mission he was on this night, collecting energy and starseeds for Quartz, and sighed. It was worth it.
Stepping back to where he'd left his afghan, he dismissed the sodden thing into subspace. His heart, already reluctant to obey the orders of his captain, was really no longer in his task. He powered down and, keeping to the shadows, made his way home.
