Their land was at peace for so long, and they sung and danced all the time. They learned proper manners because often times, song and instruments were played with dedication. Taken up by the festivities, her brother's voice broke through like a wildfire, and she turned her head surprised.

"And I- looking for you brother." Bowing her head immediately and what came after, she should have expected- but if he hadn't gone missing himself, maybe she would have taken to enjoying the festivities with him. "I worry brother, we should check the stage now that all the decorations should be up. How much space we really had to work with now.. It is almost time~ Help me find the stage~" Pulling is paw a little, it was then that she felt someone watching her and the fur upon the back of her neck rose oddly.

Stopping to look around before she looked back at her brother. "I was told it was around here somewhere..."

Turning to him with a smile as she trotted in just a slight over a gentle and gracious walk. Ulaya came from everywhere, regions far and wide, and she was able to meet them. Meet the world beyond the forest that her uncle and aunt protectively kept them in. She saw ulaya trying out clothing, much like hers as well, she saw an abundance of food, all different kinds and turned, pulling her brother deeper in.

"Do not fret, I know why we came here, and I won't let you forget beyond the stars and shine what your duty must. So let us find the King and Queen, deliver the message and hope we can enjoy this all with them! Well, unless you get us kicked out~" Nudging his face with her nose with the light teasing.

"You will march up to them~ chest high, back straight, chin up~ You remember what we spoke about if you were to meet them? No stuttering." Eyeing him protectively, but broke in to a light giggle. Although everything she did was filled with poise, even when she was a kit..

As soon as they began to walk, she began to feel like this was too familiar, too magical. She hoped, deep down the King and Queen would let them stay. "'I suppose they would be at the heart of the castle~ Right?" Having ulaya bounce in front of them offering them different wears, and food. It was delightful!

While the King, had begun to lead his family in as the top of the stairs before the huge crowd. If everyone was dressed in princes, and princess outfits, or those with fake fish tails and such, how could you tell the real King and Queen apart if everyone tried to look royal!?

Of course, Xinyi was a stickler for perfect, stickler for outfits and like her Chinese wrap dress. She was DETERMINED to make those less.... fashionable for the occasion, something to be MARVELED at. Her booth, had many fabrics, and she made quick work. In already after set up, she redid two dresses, and a DISaster waiting to happen. She couldn't BARE to let anyone look of rags for THIS festival.

"Your fur is marvels darling, but, Luck, favors the prepared and I see you woke up this morning~ unprepared.." Pulling a measuring tape out and measuring the ulaya up and down- AND counting her wings. "They may be troublesome, but we can work with it~" Grabbing fabrics together, pinning them and began to shuffle together a dress upon the ulaya.

"Fabulous. I know." Fixing her glasses as she hid them back on top of her head. "Now maybe wear smile- and you will be simply ravishing, but with that blank face, you will ruin the wears. Nothing can take away from a sour face. Nothing."

Aurora blinked in surprise as a ulaya suddenly started measuring her. It seemed she was set on making her a very customized dress. "umm.. thank you but my wings for me aren't hugely troublesome" she answered since she was pretty certain they were translucent anyway. She blinked as she watched the ulaya pin together fabric into a dress.

Resolutely marching past the stalls and hawkers, Griffinus continued toward the castle proper. He'd allowed himself a moment to look about, but only the moment. Continuing past a well decorated stage and a crowd gathered before it with only a passing glance, before his attention was pulled to a lovely young ulaya with fair hair and fine dress standing beside an equally handsome looking male. They were obviously siblings... he stared across the distance until jerked out of the daze by his eldest sister's coaching voice and warm nose against his cheek.

"Mayri. Please do not tease me, at least not until after I've delivered this message? I know I have not been the most responsible of the lot, but I would never do anything so foolish, especially not while representing Tsukurou and his family. I know you're only fretting after me out of concern, and it is appreciated, but still... I can do this."

With a flick of his long tail, he did as she said, chest high, back straight, chin up, he knew what he had to say, practiced it to himself aloud as they'd made their trip here. He would do this.

"Hm? Indeed. ...Perhaps if we spoke with one of the guards? Tsukurou lent me a medal... ah. It seems as if we won't have much trouble finding them after all. Look, here. I wonder if he's going to make a speech? Come, let's move closer."

With the crowd of people gathering before the stage, it wasn't easy, but Griffin inched his way forward, glancing back to make sure that Mayri was not left behind, he didn't want to lose her now.

She played with her sisters and brothers, that was a time of no nightmares, and she could cuddle her siblings without any fears. She remembered her mother combing her hair and chasing after Varak. But those times were slowly slipping away with the years, some memories popped in to her head. Like when her father first introduced the festival.

"This festival is for you, so everyone will never forget you, just because you are up here... we wouldn't forget you...."

But many have...

She slowly walked up to her balcony. Her braids lifting just slightly, an amazing dress was made just for her, just for this day. So she could be remembered.. But who truly remembered the forgotten princess....

As she looked down below, so many busy ant sized ulaya, even from here she could smell the food and hear the laughter. Oh, how she wished she could dance or play with her siblings. But then the thought of being bumped in to, or touched at all- and the pain would overwhelm her, and trouble her family... Never imagining how their subjects would react to her screams.

Her eyes closed for a moment trying to compose herself. She was here for her protection... But she longed to be apart of the life beyond this bird cage.
It was then when she opened her eyes, and she caught a pair looking up in to hers. Striking her heart and making her gasp. Did someone know she was up here? Quickly she drew herself back to compose herself... her staff giving a slight glow... then fizzled out.

Varak can just ignore Kashi. But Kashi has seen him. From a distance. XD
*Flicker is when Kashi uses his flames to distract others attention and just walks right past them. (Or whispers things they should consider doing for him/his entertainment.)

User ImageNebulous walked with her head held high, weaving around other Ulaya, careful not to drag her new gift on the ground. It was long and pretty and red and sparkly and it made her so happy! Trying her best not to trip over it, Neb wasn't sure how far she'd wandered into the crowd when a sudden gust of wind made many females, and a few select males, squeal. Caught off guard, the scarf was ripped from her mouth and sent over the heads of the Ulaya around her.

Neb bolted in the direction it flew off into, but as she moved the others around her began to regain themselves, standing upright and clumping together again. Eyes forward she bumped into other left and right. In her hurry to catch her most prized possession, she accidentally stepped on someones paw.

"Sorry, sir!" She called back over her shoulder.

"I'm a girl!" Came the angry response. And with it, Neb's legs suddenly went straight and she moved stiff-legged, and awkwardly, to the edge of the crowd. It had to of fallen somewhere around here.

Too bad he landed inside those walls. Slipping into things like that was always a pain. Did he have the patience to think up a good way to get in? He could just float over the wall. Or just 'I dunno. I guess I could just flicker* over there.' He shrugged to himself.

"How unimagin--" he was interrupted mid-thought by a voice. Irritated at being pulled from his own little world he turned his attention, to be greeted by the sight of a lovely young female, with her head bowed. She was asking about something. Someone? He slowly turned to fully face her and placed a paw gently on her lips.

"Shush, shhh little lady. My name is Kashiyoru, but please. You may call me Kashi." He grinned before his mind suddenly caught up to what she had asked him. 'Winged Ki'rin... Bright red hair....' A memory replayed of that stunning winged male swooping down beyond the palace walls, as a smidgen of bright red seemed to be sliding along the outside of the wall.

"And I think you and I may be headed in the same direction." He feigned innocence with a somewhat unconvincing smirk.

Araxie gazed evenly at her daughter as she spoke. She had expected Eumelia to be late as usual, certainly after giving their poor handmaid a hard time. She adored being the queen with whom everyone felt comfortable speaking – perhaps due to the fact that she was a commoner like them before her time with Acacius – and so her subjects never hesitated when frankly telling her what she otherwise would not no. As such, she knew of Eumelia's behaviors and Varak's midnight escapades. She also knew how excellent a job the handmaid's work is, and she definitely was not responsible for the mess on Eumelia's head. "My dear girl, what have you done to your hair?" Luckily, Araxie was both meticulous and adept enough to fix this problem. "In a minute, dear Acacius," she spoke in a charming voice sounding much like bells as she sat on Eumelia's fur cape to hold her in place. She flexed her claws in front of her daughter's face with a grin before detangling and then retying Eumelia's braid. At least Araxie had a very light, gentle touch. She finished swiftly, and, just so Eumelia did not hate her too much, she gave her bangs a good tousle before stepping back. "Much better," she stated with a dignified nod.

She followed Acacius out as he led them into the crowd. She turned to him with a concerned look on her face. "We're not spending time with Ankine today?" She always hated leaving Ankine behind, despite her daughter's affliction. She knew it was hard for her to be out with ulaya, but she could never stand the idea of her daughter being left alone.

As the dust settled and ulaya brushed down their skirts and retied loose bits of their garments back into place, Nina couldn't decide where she wanted to explore next, the booth she'd just been entertaining herself at forgotten in a moment.

There was supposed to be a special performance soon, twins of rare beauty singing a duet, she definitely wanted to see, but for the crowd crushing toward the stage... she supposed she could always just listen from the back.

Her gaze was then caught by a sparkly cloth twirling on the swirling breezes. She watched as it fluttered down, and stepped forward, stretching out to meet it, catching it before it just before it could touch the dirty ground.

Holding the scarf up in the sunlight, Nina admired how it sparkled for a moment. What a find! She hadn't seen the stall that was handing these out... perhaps this was a one of a kind piece?

Humming, Nina glancing around, she didn't spot anyone that seemed to be missing- No, there she was. Though she looked awkwardly stiff at the edge of the crowd, she seemed lost, or at least looking for something... and the sheer scarf did seem match her perfectly. Eyeing the lady for a moment more, Nina cleared her throat and curled a paw to catch her attention.

"Ah, excuse me... your highness." Her lilting voice raised over the din of the many, many gathered, Nina fixed a bright smile in place, wrapped the red scarf securely around her own wrist and moved forward with a spring in her step.

He flashed a grin at his sister. Varak was not one for favorites, but, if he had to pick a favorite sibling, it would be Eumelia. He loved all his siblings dearly, but she was most similar to him in every regard. He waited for the exchange between his family members to conclude, and they concluded as he had expected. He knew their mother would never let Eumelia walk out of palace looking disheveled if she could help it. He laughed as Araxie fixed Eumelia's hair, knowing just how disgruntled his sister must be. He stopped testing their mother's patience when it came to his appearance long ago, making sure to clean up every day just to her liking. Even then however, she could be very particular, and he did not wish for her to fuss over him today. He did just dive off the tallest tower, after all, and so the wind must have done something to his hair. His smile faded with this realization. "I'm going to go out ahead. See you guys out there!" He swiftly padded off to the castle doors. Before he opened them, however, he checked his hair in a reflective window beside them. He smiled. 'Not a strand out of place.' He made an excellent decision to keep his hair short unlike the rest of his siblings.

Once he opened the doors, something odd caught his eye. There was this ulaya with brilliant red hair speaking with one of the guards. He was different, to say the least. He was a ki'rin like Varak's mother and father, but his wings were unlike anything he'd ever seen. His father had large wings, but his scales did not extend along their length. Varak wondered what such a ki'rin was doing here. "Excuse me, sir," he called out, approaching the other.

This guard was dense. Lothaire detested folk such as this: by the book and brainless. It was as if they had no capacity to think for themselves. In his defense, however, he was preventing an unwanted guest from gaining an audience with the royal family. "I understand that the palace is meant for the royal family, but I am a prince of a kingdom as well. I know how to behave." The guard continued to be obstinate, frustrating him; however, Lothaire knew he would never gain entry to the palace entirely if he snapped at him. So, instead, he sighed, shifting his wings at his sides. "May I at least speak with a member of the royal family?" he asked in an almost defeated tone.

As if on command, he heard the doors of the palace open and soon the voice of another male greeted his ears. He turned his gaze towards the other and smiled as pleasantly as he could, but his fangs betrayed him. The guard, too, turned to the male, and his eyes softened once he saw who spoke. As it turns out, this male was a prince of the family. 'How convenient.' He waited for the two to finish their exchange.

"So this ki'rin says he's a prince?" Varak finally asked, looking over the guard's shoulder to observe the other 'prince.' Now that Varak had seen the male's face, he had a nagging feeling that something was off about him. There was some kind of intention flickering in his eyes that did not belong at this festival.

He dismissed the guard and walked over to Lothaire, bowing his head before speaking. "I am Varak, Prince of the Land of Waterfalls," he stated. "I see you've had some trouble with the guard," he began, pausing before continuing. "Why does he not believe you are a prince?"

Lothaire bowed his head in return. Of course, he had to meet the inquisitive son of the King. He hoped at least one of the prince's siblings was gullible enough to not ask too many questions. "Quite frankly, Prince, it is simply because he's never heard of my kingdom. I doubt you have, either, for it is fairly new and far away. In fact, can't imagine anyone at this festival has been there before." Thankfully, Lothaire could lie without batting an eye. "I am Lothaire, Prince of the Mountain Desert."

"Mountain Desert?" Varak asked. Lothaire had him on that account; he had never heard of that kingdom before. He had heard of every land in the known world, though, so he was taken aback by the insinuation that there was a land of which he did not know. "Where, exactly, is your kingdom?"

"Beyond the mountains in the west, at their base on the other side."

"Nonsense," Varak responded with a huff. "There's nothing beyond those mountains."

"Have you ever been, Prince Varak?" Lothaire's eyes glistened.

"Certainly not. Nothing lives there." Varak knew for certain nothing was out in that region. It was completely uninhabited, for not even the desert dwellers could survive those mountains and beyond.

Lothaire chuckled. "There are things that can live under stresses that can kill others." The laugh masked his annoyance with this prince. This exchange had gone on long enough.

"And it would kill you, too," Varak retorted. He understood now why the guard did not believe Lothaire at all, but he spoke so confidently it was certainly ambiguous. He hoped his family would be here soon.

Varak's speaking with Lothaire at the moment, who is the guy Aria seeks [her brother, up to no good]. So, if you'd like to engage with either of them instead of Aria once they get up to the palace, you're welcome to do so~ Varak won't ignore him. c: he can be vain and loves when his ego's stroked

That was unexpected. She blinked when his paw touched her lips, stifling an urge to melt away into the shadows. She would have done so in a heartbeat, but she did not wish to reveal her magic at this time. She still had to find her brother, after all. So, with a swish of her tail, she calmed herself and listened to him speak. 'Kashiyoru,' she mentally tested the world while his paw forbade her to speak. Her eyebrows raised at his last comment. So he had seen something. She felt a small amount of relief, and acknowledged her luck that the first one with whom she spoke would have seen her brother.

She waited for a few moments, but his paw did not leave her mouth. She blinked again, then placed her paw on top of his and moved it down to the ground with a small smile. "Thank you, Kashi," she said with another bow of her head, withdrawing her paw from his. "This red-haired ulaya is my youngest brother, and I was not supposed to lose him at this festival, but here I am separated now." She studied his lips as they formed a smirk on his face. There was something about him that she could not quite place. He did not strike her as harmful, but he reminded her of her father, once mortal and now the God of Malice. "If we are headed in the same direction, do you care to accompany me?"

Anyone with eyes could easily see that the princess was pleased with her father’s words, delighted at the fact that ideas of betrothal and – ugh – marriage were far into the future still for her. Eumelia leaned into the nuzzle, enjoying the brief attention from her father. And now they were off!

…Well, not yet. She then received her mother’s attention, and not in the way she would have liked. “Mother, no. No, no, no.” Eumelia pinned her ears back, a pitiful tug given to her cape to no avail as Araxie began to fix her hair. Holding her cape down while working? Mother was ever the clever one. Nooo.” She cried out half-heartedly, the look of annoyance evident on her face as Araxie gently braided. There was no escaping this. Araxie’s work was quick, however, and just like that she was finished. “Acceptable, I suppose.” Running a paw over the newly-made braid, Eumelia flashed a grin at her mother.

All of the things Acacius listed off sounded good to her. Trying out some fine cuisine sounded good to her! She was a little hungry, in all honesty. Eumelia was about to voice her approval when her mother brought up another topic: Ankine, their sister. Ah. The conversation to follow would probably be an interesting one. Maybe she’d try some of that food from the south later and give her parents some time to discuss things. “Actually, I’ll make sure to meet up with all of you in a few? It…” Come on, whip up a good excuse… “It appears Varak has slipped off! I’ll go hunt him down and make sure he doesn’t cause any trouble. Make sure there’s something left for me to try at the southern booth?” Giving a quick bow of her head, she turned to leave. Passing by Illusha as she made her departure, she flashed him a mischievous little smirk. Do have fun meeting that suitor of yours, brother. Ta-ta~” A leap and a few strong pumps of her wings and the princess was off.

... ... ...

Eumelia had circled the area for a bit, surveying the festivities and noting where certain events and stalls were located. Mental notes made, she maneuvered her flight towards the entrance of the castle, an area she hadn’t checked yet for her dear brother. Searching the ground below, she suddenly spotted his familiar figure right at the entrance. It looked like he was mingling with the guards and… Hm. There appeared to be a stranger with them as well. How very interesting. What was Varak up to now? Swooping down, the princess glided a short while and then made her landing near the trio, light amounts of dust stirred up in her wake. “Hello there.” She chimed out as she approached, putting a cordial smile on as she addressed the guard, Varak, and then the new face.

“A prince, hm?” Part of the conversation had been overheard by Eumelia: this male, Lothaire, claimed he was a prince from faraway lands. Did he speak and hold himself like royalty? Certainly. Was he a prince? That was… questionable. Much like her brother, Eumelia was suspicious of the male. Given the way their father ran things around here, they likely would have been informed of any visitors to the castle beforehand. Royalty especially. Making her way to her brother’s side, she let out a soft laugh. “Come now, Varak. If this fellow wanted to do any harm to the royal family or ruin the festivities today, he wouldn’t just approach the guards and try to waltz through the front door! Only a fool would do such a thing.” With both Varak and herself present, she felt there was no need for extra muscle around, so a subtle motion of her paw signaled for the guard to return to his post. Even if someone was foolish enough to attempt that suggested stunt of hers, there were guards aplenty, and it wasn’t like the royal family was entirely defenseless. In fact, Eumelia had a trusty dagger – a favorite of hers – strapped on her at all times, hidden well from prying eyes. Right now, in fact. Where? Well, that was no one’s business but her own…

“A quick tour of the castle wouldn’t be out of the question, would it? It would be rather rude of us to turn away a guest.” Her gaze shifted from Varak to Lothaire, Unexpected or not.” She paused, a slight brow-raise given to the supposed Prince of the Mountain Desert. “It seems Lothaire here is just after a chat with the royal family, after all.” Placing a paw on her brother’s cheek, she gave him a light pat, affectionate and lightly teasing. “We show off the beautiful interior of the castle, ramble about the architecture, chit-chat away like he wants, and then send this prince on his way.”

He shook his head lightly and sighed, she was right. Everything aside they needed to hurry to the stage and make sure all was right and ready for their performance. "Yes let us be swift. The stage isnt too far I passed by it a little while back after we...seperated. This way.", he said with a smile as he lead his sister to the stage.

It wasnt too far from their location. He saw everything seemed to be in place...it did seem a little smaller then he expected but should do. He didnt think it would take long for them to do the final checks and be ready....and it was almost show time. "Ok sister dear lets get warmed up!", he bounced a little on his toes. Though usually the quieter of the 2 and more reserved when it came to performances it was where they both took center stage and he let a little of his true self show to others! It was always exciting!

Clef stared at the now empty space, was it his imagination? No he saw the slightest movement of a figure move from the tower, he sensed their presence if only briefly. All the party festivities, the music, the many conversations slowly faded out to silence. He picked up his staff and found his paws moving of their own accord. Something tugged at his core edging him on, it wasnt until he was somehow inside the palace away from all the commotion that he truly realized he had moved.

He knew he should find his way back to the party but he couldnt, he thought back to the presence and decided to continue where this unseen force drove him. He came to a hallway with a staircase leading up on the left but their were guards. He feared he met a dead end, he wasnt sure how to explain his presence in the palace in the first place. Something told him he had to find a way up those stairs.....

"I had someone dress her, and comb her hair.. from what the maid said- she screamed at her and began throwing objects my love... I wanted to take her out in to the festival with us so all can see our beautiful one, but ..." Noting that the rest of their children were escaping.

"Remember, all eyes are upon us my children, please be examples that everyone in the kingdom can depend on and do not note off suitors! Your bodyguards will be announcing them to you as they come!" Calling out to his two children that were escaping, then a heavy sigh left him. Praying for their futures as he gathered up the strength to get upon the stage.

Giving them a nod before they walked out and everyone began to clap. It nearly felt overwhelming but most of the time, when he was out to present their children- the claps were just as loud. He went to the stage, where both the singers were practicing behind him.

"Hello, Kingdom of the Grand Waterfalls.
Today, we celebrate annually, "return of the lost princess". Every year, today- we celebrate it with her. Although she can not be here with us today, we decided for the first time in a long time, for the royal family to celebrate it with you all.
Today, we celebrate the return of Princess Ankine! May all of your loved ones return to you- and may you all experience being knights and princesses!
Let the festival officially begin!"
He said proudly.

As he came back to his mate he softly kissed her. "I will be checking on her in a little bit, and try to bring her down to celebrate with us if she has calmed. I heard there may be a magician coming to the festival. Maybe we can see if he could help her..." Giving her a reassuring smile. He was indeed quite hopeful... but hopefully wanting to see if the magician he had sent for from the mountains had made his way here. Hoping.

But the challenge of designing was on par. Hopefuly her brother wouldn't appear to compete with her, she didn't have the time to add to her more stressful time finding wears for everyone and making sure everyone was simply GORGEOUS for this event.

Finally after a rough 15 minutes, she was done. Oh, she did quick work. Drapery was easy and that was JUST what this girl needed.

Circling her to attach the parts and sow together at the shoulders then finally,
she took a step back.

"Oh please come, come." Squishing the ulaya's cheeks, pulling them then letting them go, after that she took a step back- came back in, fixed the other's hair then came back out.

"I am a master." Patting herself on the back. "Now you are ready to go off and enjoy the festivities, and remember, TAKE that frown and throw it in the garbage. It's a festival after all~" Smiling widely then waving her paw for the ulaya to move it along.
