Response:

Finally! A chance to write something instead of get up and say something…or worse, a test of her skills…honestly, Cider still wondered sometimes if she really even had any skills. If she did…they were quite slow in coming, at least in her mind. She wrote the heading on her paper and then stared at it for a long moment, trying to decide what to write. Well…writing about a bad day…was easy! Why couldn’t she just talk about all of the other classes she had done? Those had been some bad days. Or could have been, if things had gone wrong.

Cider and the no good, very bad day

A very bad day for me, Cider is when I have to get up and talk in front of the class. Or when I have to raise my hand and talk in front of the class from my seat. I don’t like talking in front of people I get scared a lot and end up saying something stupid! I also do not really like pop quizzes, so if I have to talk in front of the class and take a pop quiz, that is about the baddest of bad days, and I just don’t know what to do with myself! Sometimes classes at the Academy are hard and I just want to run away so I don’t have to talk in front of people or do math or pop quizzes, but then I would not get to learn and that would be a bad day too! If I have a day where I don’t have to talk in front of people then that day is not so bad. The End!

There! Now if that wasn’t a perfect paper, she didn’t know what was, and with a grin that showed that today might not be such a bad day, she went up and handed in her paper.

Response: As Lilo walked into the classroom they were hit with an uneasy feeling. They weren't quite sure what it was, but something about this class was going to be very off putting for the Bapho. As soon as the teacher spoke Lilo was immediately aware of why they felt anxious. Reluctantly they closed their eyes, not without a audible and over dramatic sigh though. Why were they even doing this? Something that makes you happy? Yeah. Not doing whatever this was would make Lilo happy. They were supposed to be imagining a television, unluckily for Lilo they were never much of a day dreamer nor did they really have much imagination. Was there actually anything that really made them happy? Okay. That was enough. There was no way that Lilo was going to dig inside and do any kind of introspection. Not now, not ever. At any rate they could at least use this time to sneak in a quick nap, right?

Response:

Writing was something that Skylar had become pretty good at. It wasn't that he was afraid of speaking in front of a group, it was more that his robotic tone of voice seemed to unsettle others. The only problem was the assignment itself. The hybrid prized himself on being able to remove himself emotionally from situations, that way he could look at any situation objectively and study things. This was going to be a difficult task, for sure.

Though perhaps everyone had a different take on things that were considered bad. Maybe something that would be terrible for someone else wouldn't be anything to him. Skylar took his pencil and a piece of paper and began writing.

'There are sometimes that people consider to be bad times, fortunately I have yet to experience one of those situations. To my knowledge there is no guidelines as to what constitutes as a bad day. Therefore, to me, the worst day was the time I broke my only pen and could not continue my research. Thank you for your time.' He put his name on the paper, along with the date, and handed in his paper.

Amber had a pretty active imagination, but she was an optimist by nature so she really had to think.

'A bad day would start at breakfast. We would have run out of my favorite fruit or oatmeal and if I was running late for school I'd have to settle for something like toast, which would get lots of crumbs in my fur. Trying to get to school on time I'd forget my bag, which has homework or books that I'd need for the day, so I'd have to make excuses to the teachers and maybe get in trouble. Lunch would be something spicy. I'd get tons of homework so I couldn't go for a nice walk after school. Mama and Quartz would be too busy to hang out and give hugs. Mama would forget the foods I don't like and make something icky for dinner. I'd get a mess in my fur and have to spend a lot of time grooming it out, so I'd go to bed late and wouldn't get enough sleep for the next day.

That sounded like a perfectly awful day to Amber. She'd found herself even shuddering a little as she wrote, checking to make sure her book bag was at the foot of her desk and making a mental note to ask Mama what was gonna be for dinner tonight.

A bad day? Acacia thought about it. She was pretty tough so there wasn't a whole lot that constituted as a "bad day", but there was one thing in particular she could think of that always made her grumpy. She pulled out her pencil and started to write.

A bad day for me is when my dad decides he wants to try to dress me up. He really likes sissy stuff, like frills and ruffles and lace, and he think me and my siblings are cute and he's always wanting to dress us up like giant dolls. I don't mind when he makes useful clothes that are good for playing in, cause he's good at making clothes, but I don't like it when he tries to make then pretty. I also really don't like having to stand still while he takes measurements, or having to put on and take off clothes all the time while he tries to get the size right. It's super boring, and I'd rather be outside playing or doing something fun.

Hoping her dad never got a copy of this particular assignment (it wasn't like he didn't already know these things, but she feared it would hurt his feelings regardless), Acacia finished her paper and turned it in.

Quartz sat in class, doing the breathing and letting her mind wander. The exercise was so easy she didn't even really need to think about it. The thing that made Quartz happiest was drawing or painting. She imagined herself looking at something really nice, like a good sunset, a sweeping view. A single, jewel-bright flower in the middle of greenery, like it was framed by nature itself. The contrasting coloration of Naga scales, the bright tones set in fur of a multitude of races, the graceful rise or curve of horns. Her mind drifted from image to image, all kinds of things that she'd noticed before in the past. The kinds of things that so beautifully simple they were breathtakingly complex. Her fingers itched to hold a pencil and sketch pad and find something to draw, though she managed to keep her fidgets confined to her fingers alone. As soon as she got out of school for the day, Quartz was going to have to take a nice walk and find something to draw!

Response: As soon as the teacher spoke he knew exactly what had made him happy, a soft smile forming as he thought about the nights he spent looking up to the stars, mesmerized by their splendor. By his side of course was Aiday, his best friend who also shared the same passion he did. The sky was a fascinating thing all by itself, but sharing that wonder with a friend always made it even more special. Maybe tonight he could get Aiday to head outside with him and they could stargaze again, maybe see what stars were out and about. He had recently bought a book that could help one look up what stars they were looking at and what info this world had gathered up on it, both the astronomy and astrology aspects of it. Yeah, doing that sounded like happiness to him. Nothing else could ever give him that sort of feeling. Well... at least at the time being nothing else could. Until then, he should probably write this down. After all, this was language arts, not an emotional help class.

Response: A bad day for Qasim? There were plenty of ways that Qasim could have a bad day. The child fidgeted in his seat, squinting his four eyes to try his best to really think about — worst case scenario — what might his worst day be like. The thoughts that came to him were being pantsed in the hallway, or having something on his face and nobody telling him as he walked around all day with it. There were plenty of ways for a day to go bad, but those were definitely some of the worst outcomes. Luckily, Qasim didn't have very many bad days. He was just ... lucky, he guessed.

The very idea made Dawbie's heart squeeze and his hands ball in to fists. Stupid moths! Oh, he had run ins with them before. One time he had left his bedroom window open at night with the light on, and the next morning when he went to open his sock drawer, the poor Baphomet's socks had been met with a terrible fate.

Dawbie shuddered at the memory, itching at his hands as he recalled them crawling all over him as he tried to save his precious socks. He had spent so many hours designing and making each one. To lose even one sock was to lose hours of his life. The worst day ever? Yah, Dawbie had lived it. He never wanted to experience it again./size]

Who am I? That's a loaded question. I am many things. I'm a sister, a lover,
a dear friend ... but my path is not defined. I don't dare to say I know who I am yet. I only know the qualities I currently possess. I am domineering, and yet sweet. I am positive, but cynical. I am disgusting, and yet I am beautiful.
I do not pretend to be something I am not. I feel when I am swayed, and I tense when I need protection. I am a living being. I express that gift on a whim, and it is never the same twice.

I eat pizza and stay up until ungodly hours of the night. I skip school, and I am in love with an older woman. It is all these quirks and oddities that make me who I am. I could never be something other. I have always remained true to myself, and while I may not have a defined path, I endure as I always have.

Let me begin with the things I am not. I am not slovenly, and I am not crass. I do not curse, and I do not lose my temper. What I am cannot be easily defined. I may be able to express individual traits that I possess but I am cannot begin to sway you in to believing certainties about me. Life and living are complex matters, and the Nightmare experience — exploring sentience and free will — cannot be pigeon holed.

I am breath. I am flesh, blood, and fur. I have thoughts that I control. I can move my body as I will it. I can choose who I spend my time with, and who I love.

I am an experience. Along for the ride that life chooses to take me on. While I have my goals, my desires, and my emotions I am at but one set of experiences, and those experiences make me unique. They are the sum of my parts. They have defined me in to who I have become.

Response: Sugar Maple arrived for class late and her fur was a mess, her horns were itchy. Then she saw the assignment oh write about a normal day well that was easy since Sugar Maples days were often rather well not terrible but not perfect either. "Well today I was late to class, my fur is messy, my horns are itchy, I think my hooves look dull." She frowned looking at her little feet and thinking they did look dull. "Other bad day stuff having to go to a camp out and making not friends, cause your really shy and it's hard to get to know other freshlings. Getting all the answers wrong on a test, falling down on your face on the soccer field and having everyone laugh at you. Getting a big boo boo." Sugar maple went on and on about all the bad things that could happen some that had happened to her.

"Falling in a mud puddle, losing a favorite toy, having to go to detention, not getting to go to the park or the zoo, or a picnic, having your flowers die, losing a familiar, getting lost in the store." Caraway paused these were things she didn't want to happen to her, they hadn't happened before but you never knew what could happen. "Not getting desert, having to do double homework, being attacked by strange creatures with pale skin and funny looking ears." Caraway crewed her pencil for a bit trying to think what else she should write. "Ummm I don't know what else, umm not knowing what to write on a paper for a school project and getting a really bad grade cause your not sure what to write?"

Response: Things that could go wrong for him? He carefully chewed on his pencil, thinking. There were a lot of things that could go wrong, he supposed. Might as well start with the thing he was most worried about.

“I could not wake up in time for class, and get put in time out. Then we could have a group project where nobody else wants to do the project my way. Then at lunch, someone could knock into me and spill my food all over me. And then someone else could slip and dump their food on me too! So then I have to wear something all weird looking that the teacher brings me. After lunch, we could have another group project, but something goes wrong and they all blame it on me. So then I get held after school, and a lecture! And then, when I try to tell the teacher everything else that has gone wrong, they don’t believe me and put me in time out again.”

Ok, so maybe he had already had a day like that, but the teacher never said that it had to be things that hadn’t happened, had she?
