Name: Savindral Age: 17 Nameday: Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: ??? Craft: None Rank: Candidate Location: Western Weyr Physical Description: Destined for a height he hasn't grown into yet, Savindral is a rather spindly fellow currently standing a hair over 6'. With black hair, tanned skin, and dark brown eyes with heavy lashes, he may be handsome in a Turn or two. For now, he's more awkward than anything.
Personality: Savindral is, in many ways, a simple young man. While not unintelligent, he is utterly unambitious and without conceit; as long as he needs are met - food, safe shelter, and companionship - and the individuals he cares for are happy, he is content with life and will have few complaints. He is used to making do with very little, so the conditions at Western Weyr seem a bounty in comparison, for which he is very grateful, and in turn is happy to do whatever may be aaked of him.
Guileless and inherently trusting, Savindral doesn't know when he's being lied to, making him easy to manipulate or use. He doesn't understand lying, and as it doesn't occur to him to lie, he assumes that others are truthful as well. He won't knowingly do anything that would hurt someone, being very averse to causing harm to another. He will defend himself or someone else if he absolutely has to, but he much prefers to avoid or defuse conflict. Fortunately, it's rare that he ends up in such situations: butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, and he has an innocent, boyish charm. A young man he may be, but his open, naive demeanor often makes him seem younger by a few Turns.
Though he's more used to the company of animals than people, he's far from feral or antisocial; he is in fact quite amiable, if a little bit odd by conventional standards. His people manners are still a work in progress: he can be overfamiliar with people he thinks are his friends, and won't hesitate to fix hair or clothing if it's mussed, and assumes that all food is for sharing. He thinks nothing of taking from a friend's plate, but in all fairness, won't mind in the least if they do the same. They could ask for something that's already on its way to his mouth and he'd offer it right over. He's very physically affectionate, and likes to be close to his friends, so anyone who allows it may find themselves leaned on or draped over. If someone makes it clear they do not appreciate his closeness (or food-stealing, etc.), however, he will heed being told off and not do it again. There is no shame in his heart, so he'll rarely be hurt when he's corrected; if anything, he'll appreciate the learning experience and use it to be better, as he is very aware that he has a lot to learn. But when someone does accept his quirky brand of affection? Oh, he couldn't be happier! He is intensely loyal, and will always try to look out for and do right by his friends.
Overall, he's a very easygoing sort, accepting people exactly as they are and trusting that what they are is good. He has difficulty understanding why or how some people can just be mean, and is rather like a kicked puppy if someone is cruel to him.
Positive Trait List genuine, easygoing, loyal, without conceit Negative Trait List naive, unambitious, overly familiar, easily manipulated
History: Born to parents who were disinterested in him at best beyond his eventual ability to help with work (until which point he was quite the inconvenience), Savindral grew up on a ranch of respectable size on the Western Continent. An only child, and with no other families nearby, he spent most of his time with the animals: a mix of herdbeasts, runnerbeasts, and canines. Far from being a lonely child, he was happy with their company, and considered them fast friends and playmates. He was dutiful about helping to care for them, and naturally skilled at handling them. He was perfectly content with this lot in life, blissfully oblivious that he might be missing anything. To him, it was all perfectly normal, and he was fond of and eager to please his parents whether the affection was returned or no. They were hard hit when Thread returned, and his mother and much of the livestock were lost. They've been barely scraping by in the Turns since, trying to recover from their losses. Savindral was Searched to Western just before Killakeeth's clutch, and though he was reluctant to leave his family, he was enchanted by the dragon...and encouraged by his father, since it would mean one less mouth to feed.
Far from being overwhelmed by the Weyr, he's delighted by the sheer number of people. He's working through a learning curve when it comes to conventional social skills, and reads better than he writes, but puts in nothing less than full effort in all of his lessons and chores.
Other: Prefers to eat meat from wherries and fish when possible, rather than from anything with hooves.

Who Are We Anyway?! Name: Teohe Age: 15 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: ??? Weyr: High Reaches Weyr Rider Rank: Weyrling Previous Rank/Craft: None (Weyrbrat/Candidate) Physical Description: Growing to be stocky and a bit on the short side at 5'3", Teohe is still filling into her frame, and may also gain another inch or two. Blonde-haired and blue-eyed, she may grow into a semblance of conventionally pretty, but will tend to carry a bit of extra weight.
Personality: Though no less good-natured than her father, Teohe has a far calmer, much less boisterous temperament. She is quiet and thoughtful, and prefers to think before she speaks or acts; while she doesn't think poorly of those who enjoy it, she was never one for rowdy play or pretend fights (and certainly not real fights!). She's something of a pacifist, loathe to even playfully push someone, let alone hit them, and is just as careful of her words, well aware that they can hurt every bit as much as something physical. She's always had a very strong sense of empathy, is someone who hurts when others are hurting, and has a bleeding heart. If someone wants her help, she'll be right there, all the way, and give them what they need without thought. Her time, her things, her advice, whatever she has. You need her notes to study from? Sure! Forgot to study for a test? She won't say a thing if she notices you looking at her answers. Got behind on your chore for whatever reason? She'll do her best to help you catch up! Lost a bet that you can't pay and worried about the consequences? You can have what little she's got. This can lead her to being an enabler of others' bad habits; for all that her intention is to be helpful, it just allows them to skate by without having to face the consequences of their actions and learn.
Teohe can be too selfless, to the point where it can be a detriment to her own wellbeing. She'll give and give until she has nothing left, and then would feel guilty for not being able to do more. Similarly, she's very inclined to run herself ragged when there's work of any kind to be done. She will throw herself at it without reservation, and will finish even if she has to drag herself over the line. She will give nothing less than a full effort, refusing to bow to her own limitations - limitations she is aware she has, but chooses to ignore.
For all that she will work herself to the bone if there's a job to be done, she does love a good time, though she's more likely to be on the edges of a party than right in the middle. She likes the company and the energy, but doesn't care to be the center of attention...but she very much wants friends. Even if she's not core to the group, she still needs to be a part of one to feel fulfilled, as she craves a sense of belonging and a stable place in the world. In the same vein, she desperately wants to be loved, and will be prone to making poor decisions in the field of romance. Whether she hones in on a bad boy who "needs" to be "helped," or swoons over the first lady to turn on the charm, she'll open her heart time and again and leave it ripe for breaking.
Her self-esteem is derived mostly from how useful she is or isn't to others, and to some extent how many friends she has and what opinions they express about her, and so how she feels about herself is largely dependent on the company she keeps. If she has healthy, positive relationships with people who build her up and encourage her, she'll flourish; if she attaches herself to someone who puts her down or wants her to change herself to suit them, she'll languish, but not have the emotional fortitude to cut the cord on her own.
Positive Trait List empathetic, giving, hard-working Negative Trait List enabler, pacifist, derives self-worth from others' needs/opinions
History: Born to a bronzerider and a kitchen worker, Teohe is very much a typical weyrbrat: the product of a Flight, and raised mostly in the creche. Her parents were involved, however, and Teohe remains close to them both, as well as to her father's bronze, Hyglath. She has always been completely infatuated with dragons, as Hyglath is nothing short of a giant marshmallow, and allowed himself to be climbing gym and cuddle buddy whenever he was able.
She did find her father somewhat intimidating, as he is a very large and boisterous man, but she adored him no less. She knew she would never quite measure up to him, much as she would have liked to; she saw and envied his popularity, his many friends and loves, and doubted she could ever achieve or win such affections without being just like him. And since she knows full well she will never be him, she has settled for being herself, and that's mostly fine, most days. She has friends, of course, and a couple of young relationships, but is hardly popular. Teohe grew deeply concerned for her father's wellbeing when Thread returned, and is awed that he seems not to care about the danger...but will fuss at him to be careful when she can.
She entered Candidacy at 14, and has always been dutiful in lessons, chores, and the like. In spite of the risks, she wanted a dragon most ardently, a friend who would always, always be hers. She was on the fence about participating in the swaps, but eventually caved to the urging of a friend who was going and wanted company.

DRAGON Name: Tiossith Personality Vanity, thy name is Tiossith.
This is one showy, flashy, fabulous dragon, and baby do they know it. Maybe a little too well. Tiossith places massive importance on appearances, none moreso than their own; while they were naturally blessed with perfect proportions and the most fetching of hides, that would mean little if they were not to maintain themselves properly. You will never catch this dragon "letting itself go," and even as a hatchling they will be unlikely to overeat. They know exactly how much they need (preferably of the finest cuts), and will not go beyond that. On bath day, they expect a most thorough scrubbing - a massage wouldn't be amiss, either! - and will turn up their nose at anything other than fine, scented oil. Their claws had best be perfectly manicured, as well.
All this vanity might be hard to swallow if, when asked to work, Tiossith weren't rock-steady and absolutely reliable. Fortunately, their exacting standards do apply to more than just their appearance, and they will push for the best when working as well. After all, how would it look if they were to laze about? Terrible, that's what! So when it comes time for lessons, drills, and eventually fighting Thread, there will be no problems getting Tiossith to buckle down and do their duty, though they will expect a bath to promptly follow any exercise that gets them dirty. They will wear scars well, but if ever maimed or permanently grounded, would likely have problems ever seeing themselves as "whole" again.
Tiossith's meticulous standards and fine taste will also extend to friends and lovers. They want the exceptional: the prettiest, the bravest, the fastest, anyone who could be classed as one of the best. They have a curious sort of snobbishness in that not only do they love the best, they also have a perverse admiration for for the worst; notable is notable, after all, regardless of why. But average? They detest average. Average implies a total lack of effort or care, and they can't abide that. Wake up! Shape up! Do something with yourself! Whether it's asked for or not, Tiossith is all too happy to offer advice on how one could improve, though they will do their best to go about it in a tactful manner. Perhaps you might consider accessorizing in this color instead, or putting your hair up this way, or eating more greens, or flaming like so, and on and on and on. There is almost always room for improvement, and no reason not to strive towards it!
Their exacting standards and tactful manner give them the makings of a good leader, and while they will acknowledge that, they do not crave power just for power's sake. Whether or not they move up the ladder won't change that their the best, and if anything not moving up affords them a little more time to dedicate to, well, themselves. And Theirs. The only one Tiossith is ever likely to love more than Tiossith is Theirs.
Size: Medium Physical Attributes: With everything in almost perfect proportion for their color, Tiossith is fast and agile, but with a reserve of endurance that will serve them well. Muscular, but not too muscular, they are very much built to do the job that their color is meant to do, and do it well. Additional Notes: Destined to be a heartbreaker, it's incredibly unlikely that Tiossith will ever settle down; it would take the most exceptional creature or creatures to ever tie them down. They will delight in sampling everything that Flights have to offer, and if not selected by the lady when chasing (silly, but her prerogative!), will be happy to take their pick of the finest suitors.
Why Me: Teohe, oh, Teohe! Tiossith knows a diamond in the rough when they see one, and here you are. A little time to mature, a little schooling in how to carry and look after herself, and Teohe will make a fine, fine young woman - and the finest of riders, of course! Tiossith needs someone who already knows how to work hard, who can match their work ethic but who will also be more than willing to put in the work it requires to take care of such a perfect dragon to keep them in top condition. This is far from a one-sided relationship, however; they will take adoring care of Theirs, and not only help her to reach her potential in every sense, but will insist that she makes herself a priority. They will never let her forget herself, or set all of her own needs aside. And those bad relationships she's prone to? No, those won't do at all! If they think someone is bad for Theirs, they won't hesitate to shove them right out of her life. And hopefully, Teohe will be able to lend them a bit more empathy, and with it the ability to temper their urge to nitpick.

All That Glitters Is Bronze! Name: J'yisu Age: 20 Nameday: YYYY.MM.DD i.e. 3560.03.18 [Please note that Pern has 13 months and each month has 28 days.] Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: ?? Craft: Blacksmith Rank: Apprentice Location: Western Weyr Physical Description: Personality: Positive Trait List [At least 3. Just spell out what they are and it should follow your written personality i.e. cheerful, loyal, confident] Negative Trait List [At least 3. Just spell out what they are and it should follow your written personality i.e. insecure, selfish, anxious] History: Other: Anything else you want to add?
DRAGON - - - - Name: Kuseth Personality In a clutch full of confidence, Kuseth was given short shrift. Though large and imposing in size, he was not gifted the self-esteem to match, and will struggle with how visible his size and color make him. This is a wallflower who would love nothing more than to vanish into the crowd, but unfortunately for him, he sticks out like a sore thumb. And as if that weren't enough, it's like there's so much of him he doesn't quite no what to do with it: Kuseth is awkward and clumsy on the ground, and while with practice he will be better in the air, his early attempts are almost guaranteed to be spectacularly bad.
Quiet and sensitive, Kuseth both worries and expects that he will be laughed at for his missteps, physical and otherwise. A shy creature, he is socially anxious, and as likely to trip over his words as he is over his own feet. While awkward and nervous, he does dearly love company, though he's not sure he's worthy of friends; his clutchmates are all so lovely, and confident, and perfect, and he is just...Kuseth. He has thoroughly convinced himself that he doesn't fit in and that everyone else is far too good for him, so he will be content with whatever scraps they throw his way. Unless bolstered by his rider, he will be easily taken advantage of.
Kuseth's hearts are huge and full of love, and he is far more intelligent than he gives himself credit for. He is patient, generous, and forgiving, and has so much to offer, if only he would allow himself to blossom instead of hiding. Putting himself first - or even second or third - will be a struggle for this bronze. All this love and selflessness will, however, drive him to be a dedicated Threadfighter, who won't hesitate to risk injury or worse for the sake of others.
Egg Size: Large Adult Size: 45' Physical Attributes: Kuseth's wings are over-large, and in his youth especially they will often get in his way. Though near maximum length of his color, he is gaunt and gangly. Additional Notes: Flights will be problematic for Kuseth, who rarely if ever has the confidence to join. He is not nearly as good as the other chasers, and certainly not worthy of anyone who takes to the air. He will be prone to fruitless, pining crushes, about which he will never say a word unless confronted.
Why Me:

A Golden Opportunity! Name: Inaisse Age: 22 Nameday: 3554.03.11 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: ??? Craft: Weaver Rank: Journeyman Location: Western Weyr Physical Description: Bearing little resemblance to her Runner mother, Inaisse is a soft and curvy 5'5" with brown hair and hazel eyes. Personality: Chock full of the charisma from her father's side that made them such good Traders, Inaisse is naturally personable, but in a quiet and easy way. While good with people, she's not aggressively outgoing: she doesn't push her company or opinions on anyone, at least not overtly. She can be gently persuasive if she feels someone needs to be convinced of something, whether it's to encourage them to try harder or to let go of a toxic mindset, or just something as simple as trying that new thing they're not quite sure about.
Inaisse is a wonderful cheerleader and support squad for her friends, always willing to help and do what she can. She enjoys being a help, just as much as she enjoys putting her time and effort to a task. And she does put her time into tasks: she is measured and meticulous about everything she does, and would much rather take her time and get something perfect than rush and have it come out subpar. She hates to be rushed or interrupted, and the resulting fuss it leaves her in can completely derail her task and leave her at a loss.
Her life and everything in it needs to be just so: Inaisse is exceedingly particular about everything from her space, to her appearance, to her schedule. She likes a predictable, structured life, especially having come from one that was anything but. When this is disrupted, it throws her for a real loop, and it can take her quite some time to settle herself again. If, for some reason, she doesn't have the time to get her composure back together, her performance will definitely suffer. She does not like surprises, or having to make a decision without the time to think it through properly. Spontaneity and Inaisse are not friends.
She is a creature of habit and discipline who thrives in a structured environment, and who also very much enjoys her creature comforts. There is little more satisfying after a long day of hard work than a good meal and a warm, soft bed. Inaisse loves little indulgences - and big ones - possibly a bit more than she should. Temptations can override her usually careful decision-making process, and while she won't take what isn't hers, if it is free for the taking...well, what's the harm?
Positive Trait List meticulous, personable, supportive Negative Trait List perfectionist, habit-driven, indulgent
History: One of a number of children born to a Runner and a Trader who lived apart more often than they lived together due to their respective Crafts - and an ideal arrangement due to a penchant on both sides to temper - Inaisse spent much of her childhood back and forth between the two sides of her family. With both older and younger siblings, as well as extended family, she never lacked for company or affection. As it was readily apparent from an early age that she had a personality ideally suited for Trading, everyone assumed that she would ultimately stick with that side of the family, but by 12, she had decided that that would not be her path, nor would she take after her mother.
Though it was exciting, in many ways, to be always on the move, Inaisse much admired the Holds they visited, and was both fascinated by and envious of living life in just one place. It seemed to her the ultimate luxury, to have a proper bed in a proper building, to always be safe and comfortable, and to have more than just a handful of things that were hers. With a love for beautiful things, particularly for the fine garments that they sometimes bought and sold but had little use for themselves - what use for a sparkling dress on the road? - she asked to go to Weavercraft Hall, and was sent with no argument. Her family would miss her, but if that was her path to happiness, they wouldn't deny her.
Inaisse thrived at Hall, taking to her chosen craft like a fish to water. She was dutiful and dedicated to learning, and was an easy student, never a troublemaker or rebel. She was happy to be there, and would never do anything to jeopardize her place. Though not unfriendly by any means, she preferred to devote most of her time to her tasks and craft, rather than to socializing. She did fall into a few friends, mostly those of similar focus, and was always willing to help if asked to do so.
She advanced at a measured pace, and became a Journeyman at 21...and shortly after found herself Searched to Western Weyr. She hesitated, weighing her options - she had put in Turns of hard work toward her dream, after all - before ultimately agreeing to go. Much of her family, due to their roving ways, is especially vulnerable to Threadfall, and she couldn't help but think of them. And one of her brothers, Set'al, was already a rider, and at Western to boot. She felt she owed it to them all to try.
Esurienth and Phylideth's clutch would be her first time Standing, and she had no expectation that it would be the last. She did have some concerns about thr possible risks, but most of the hatchlings got on with their business with minimal drama, which was quite the relief. She was a bit surprised - and terribly amused - when a hatchling Queen stopped to consider one of the boys and declared he would be suitable for one of her siblings. And so he was, quickly claimed by a green - had the gold been scoping him out for her? Inaisse wondered over it for a few moments, but turned her attention to another cracking egg.
No, no, that one won't do for you at all, my dear. They won't complement you properly. See? The gold, who now stood beside her and offered her feedback like it was just another conversation, had her trained her gaze in the same direction as Inaisse's. That shade of brown isn't you at all. Gold, on the other hand...now that is much more like it. Wouldn't you agree, Mine?
Rainbow eyes turned to hers, and that was that.
Other: <3
DRAGON - - - - Name: Tilaqueth Personality In a clutch full of confidence, Tilaqueth does not disappoint. How could she? I mean, have you seen her? Tilaqueth is absolute perfection: flawless proportions, a shimmering hide, a graceful carriage. She has plenty of lovely and handsome siblings, she'll give you that, but they're not Tilaqueth, and Tilaqueth is beauty incarnate, as far as she's concerned. She is everything that everyone should want, or at the very least want to be, if they're being honest with themselves.
That being said, Tilaqueth isn't so delightfully splendid because she's gold - although the light does play particularly well on her hide - she's just splendid because she's Tilaqueth. She'd be just as pretty and perfect no matter what shade she was; she'd also be just as catty and selfish. Very much the "popular girl" stereotype, Tilaqueth believes she deserves to get her way, and assumes that if she flutters just so and turns on the charm or plays the helpless damsel, she will get what she wants. She is quite aware that her color will get her little at Western Weyr, so she has to use her other natural traits to her advantage...which is to say, her physical beauty and skill for charm. What Tilaqueth wants tends, in actuality, to be fairly shallow. She's not an ambitious dragon with an eye to power, but rather an eye to more tangible desires. She wants the most delectable cuts of meat, the most exotic new scent for her oil, that mysterious new boy who just joined the Weyr. And if someone else wants something? Ohh, she might not have even glanced before, but now she's interested, whether in a fancy set of straps or a clutchmate's crush.
Tilaqueth herself, however, is not quite as shallow as she seems, and there is more heart to this dragon than even she realizes. For all that she's preoccuppied with being the belle of the ball, it stems from a desperate need to be wanted and loved, and a tiny seed of insecurity that she's not really that special after all. Driven, therefore, by a need to prove that she is, she's determined to fake it until she makes it. The more and better friends she has, the more validated she feels, and so she will do her best to collect a "clique" of sorts. Still, though she does love her clutchmates and circle of friends, and is in fact incredibly dependent on them, she has a tendency to put her own needs and wants first without thinking. So while her beauty and charm may lure affection to her, her selfishness might just as soon alienate it.
Her impulsive focus on getting what she wants in the moment is likely to get in the way of her finding true friendships or deep relationships of any kind; she may well sabotage them by reaching for what isn't hers to take. On her good days, when she is feeling secure in herself, Tilaqueth is a good friend. She is attentive, and fond, and doting, and if someone makes the mistake of hurting one of her friends, she will not hesitate to rip them down and make them hurt. If, on the other hand, it was she who hurt them, and she can be made to realize it, she will turn that hurt on herself and wallow in it. With Hers to help, maybe she'll even learn from it and do better.
Tilaqueth will be in for hard lessons about what is truly important in life, but with the influence of the right rider, might learn them without crumbling under the consequences of her own poor decisions and sometimes unthinking treatment of others.
As Thread is the ultimate threat to those she loves, she will be an ardent fighter: no privilege here, only a desire to protect and another chance to prove that she is worthy of being loved.
Egg Size: Small Adult Size: 43' Physical Attributes: Perfect, of course. Though a touch on the small side for a gold, Tilaqueth is all long, elegant lines, every inch of her exactly as it should be...pay no attention to the just slightly crooked tailfork from not sitting quite right in her egg. Additional Notes: Tilaqueth will adore Flights and all the attention and affection that go along with them. As impulsive as she is, catching her hearts won't be difficult, and she'll be prone to crushes and unhealthy infatuations.
Why Me: As someone who wants what she wants and sees no shame in it, Tilaqueth appreciates Inaisse's, well, appreciation of the finer things in life; she would never want a rider who would try to convince her to place less importance on them. That being said, Inaisse does know that certain things aren't for the taking, and can help her understand when that's the case. She'll also be able to share her sense of discipline, and help her to slow down and think things through rather than always acting on impulse. Actions and even words have consequences, and Tilaqueth needs to understand it.
Ever the cheerleader, Inaisse will be a well of support for her dragon, always there to assure her that yes, she is special, and she does deserve love - and she has all of Inaisse's. And perhaps Tilaqueth's ultra-social nature will bring a few more friends into Inaisse's life (and Tilaqueth herself can give her routine a good shaking-up).

Name: Ishkhara Age: 25 Nameday: 3550.07.09 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation:Weyr: High Reaches Weyr Rider Rank: Wingrider Previous Rank/Craft: None Physical Description:Pale-skinned, lilac-eyed and light-haired, Ishkhara was blessed with luscious curves that she enjoys accenting with clothing that complements her figure and skin tone. She will occasionally dye her hair on a whim, and when she does so hravitates towards fanciful colors. She is of fairly average height, just under 5'7". Personality: A people person in every sense of the phrase, Ishkhara thrives in company, whether she is the center of attention or just a quiet support. She is outgoing enough to be comfortable in most situations, but without the self-importance thst might drive one to seek the spotlight or anything more than she really deserves. Though she knows herself and her wants too well to simply be a doormat, she is ultimately a people-pleaser, but to a reasonable extent; she won't let just anyone run roughshod over her, use her or take something dear to her, but she will do what she can within reason to ensure that others are seen to and happy. She will think little of giving up her seat or her bubblypie, or of being the shoulder to cry on or source of advice. She likes the company and companionship that being a helper brings, even if it gives her less time for herself or her own pursuits. Any time in the company of friends is well-spent. Ishkhara has never been one to strive for recognition or towards some higher purpose; she is content to live her life, whatever that happens to bring her way. Growing up in a Weyr, the greatest dream she really had was to be a rider, and with that achieved, she simply wants to be a good rider - and more importantly, a good wingmate. She will be keenly aware of everything that goes on around them during drills and Threadfall, always with an eye for keeping not only herself and Keyrarath out of trouble, but those in proximity to them. Her worst nightmare would be to cause harm to someone else, whether directly or indirectly. While very conscious of personal space, and of the fact that everyone has very different boundaries and thresholds, she is a very tactile person, and will be openly affectionate with anyone who allows it. And if physical affection haopens to be what someone needs for comfort or cheering up, she will happily give that, too, no strings attached. Strings will be difficult for her, when it comes to relationships; she might be a fast friend for life, and will certainly never shy away from being friends with benefits, but something about being committed to one love for always and forever gives her cold feet. Confront her with the prospect and she is guaranteed to run. If she'd not Impressed after the return of Thread, she'd likely have drifted off with her dragon to have whatever adventures the wind took them to, free to do as they pleased and burdened by no pressing responsibilities. Though the helper in her has embraced the duty of fighting, a part of her will always be intimidated, and wistful for a time when they could have lived in peace. None but Keyrarath will know that, deep down, Ishkhara is truly afraid of what could happen to them and to those they care for; unwilling to burden others with her own troubles, she will bottle up anything less than positive and keep it to herself, presenting a calm face and a steady smile no matter what turmoil might lie beneath. Positive Trait List sociable, easygoing, people-pleaser Negative Trait List unambitious, commitment-phobe, denies negative emotions History:Ishkhara is a very run-of-the-mill weyrbrat in all respects. She was the product of a goldflight, born to young woman at the end of her Candidacy and who chose to leave after her daughter was born, as in the meantime she had aged out and preferred not to linger. And so Ishkhara was creche-raised, and was an easy child to look after and teach. As she got older, she proved to be a natural hand at helping with the other children, and could often be found smoothing over conflicts or kissing a skinned elbow to make it better, or loaning out her favorite toy if someone else was having a nightmare. Like so many weyrbrats before her, she became a Candidate once she was of age, and as ever was an easy keeper, attending to all of her chores and lessons and helping others when they needed it. She was not an ounce of trouble, but no amount of effort or good behavior can guarantee a dragon, and she stood for clutch after clutch Turn after Turn, with no success. By the time she reached her twenties, she had started to worry. Maybe she was destined to just age out, like her mother. But in the end, she didn't, nor did she cut it as close as some. She was 24 when she stood for Hesperith's clutch, and finally a little green worked her way through the crowd to (gently) pounce upon her. Oh! There you are, my Ishkhara! I have been looking all over for you! Now that I have found you, won't you take your Keyrarath for an adventure? Perhaps we can start with the food table.Just as she had been as a Candidate, Ishkhara was a dutiful Weyrling, living up to the expectations that were set for her and her beloved green. Lessons, practice, everything was attended properly and given the attention it was due, and together she and Keyrarath made it through without significant incident. Keyrarath suffered minor 'scoring at their Blooding, but nothing serious. Other: <3 DRAGON Name: Keyrarath Age: 1 Color: Green Size: 19' Physical Description:Personality: From the time she and her siblings were in their eggs, they were regaled wirh tales of romance and grand adventure, and Keyrarath has been eager to find both ever since. While hearing new stories will placate her to a degree, for while at least, there is nothing quite like the real thing, and she dreams of and strives for a life worthy of the greatest tales and ballads. Nevermind that no one ever really bothers to write of little greens; all she has to do is live big enough, and one day someone will tell her story! Easily carried off by flights of fancy, soft and airy little Keyrarath is, in many ways, what some would consider a very typical green, flighty and without their idea of substance, but she won't take offense. She is too happy in her daydreams to care what "they" might think, and while her motivations might seem silly to some, there is no denying that this dragon is willing to work hard in pursuit of her dreams. If she is to be worthy of a story of her own, she must of course fight Thread, and fight it well: make no mistake, there is a budding heroine in this tiny green package. And what is a tale without romance? But if there is somewhere she stumbles, it's here. She craves a true, devoted love, a hero in shining armor to stand beside her, and wants it so desperately that she is likely to look in all the wrong places. Much like her mother, she can't help but admire and be swept off her feet by big, strapping boys, particularly of the bronze variety. But unlike her golden mother, her chances of catching and keeping their attention are slim. She will believe every sweet word and promise made when she Rises, and be heartbroken when the morning reveals them to have been less than true. When the world is cruel - and it almost certainly will be - Keyrarath will run to cry against a sympathetic shoulder, and her parents and siblings will soon know of every one of her woes. If there is anything she loves as much as stories, it is her family, and some of her happiest times are those spent giggling and gossiping with any of her sisters and brothers who might be so inclined. Name: Tairos Age: 25 Nameday: Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: ;D Craft: Courtesan Rank: Apprentice Location: Western Weyr Physical Description: A slim and trimly-muscled 6'3", Tairos has a well-tanned complexion, thick black hair, heavy-lashed blue eyes, and a hawk nose that adds a bit of character to his often stubbled face.
Personality:
Positive Trait List Negative Trait List
History: Born and raised in Rivercrest Hold, Tairos is the only son of an acconplished Baker by the name of Emntai. Having been successful in her Craft for many Turna, in her 50s she determined that there was yet one more thing that she wanted, and that was a child, but what she very much did not want was a man in her life for any length of time; never in her life had she had a desire for a partner, and that would never change. So she sought out the services of someone who might provide her with what she wanted, and thus was born Tairos. In all honesty, Emntai would really have preferred a girl, but life didn't work that way, and she was certainly not going through it all again, and so she was content enough to make do with a son.
He was a fairly easy child, at least, preferring to stay indoors and watch - and eventually help - his mother work, as opposed to haring off on adventures or getting into trouble. He was sociable, though, with a calm and easygoing personality that made friendship with him pleasant and easy (and the promise of baked treats didn't hurt either). His mother wasn't at all concerned with keeping his origins a secret, which left his father free to visit as he liked. Tairos found E'ros absolutely fascinating, so glamorous and well-travelled, and looked forward to his visits and the presents he often brought. He was openly curious about his profession, and no little enchanted, but he knew his mother expected him to follow in her footsteps, and he was loathe to disappoint her. While not particularly passionate about his inherited Craft, he did appreciate its ability to make people happy, even if the comfort provided was only temporary, and it wasn't an unpleasant profession, so when he was sent off to Cooking Hall, he voiced no objections.
It was there, at 15, that he found himself Searched to Southern Weyr for an impending clutch, where he had the good fortune to be plucked from the Candidate ranks by a small but proud bronze dragon. Their Weyrlinghood was mostly uneventful, and by the end of it, Remarenth had convinced him to do what he most wanted to do, so off they went to Courtesan Hall so that Tairos might pursue a more glamorous life than that of a Baker. He truly was suited to it, people-pleaser that he was, but before he could walk the tables, Thread returned. Unable to ignore the need, he and Remarenth left for Western Weyr, which they have called home ever since.
Other:
DRAGON - - - - Name: Remarenth Age: 10 Color: Bronze Size: 37' Physical Description: Perfect, of course. Though small for a bronze, Remarenth is all long, elegant lines, every inch of him exactly as it should be...pay no attention to the just slightly crooked tailfork from not sitting quite right in his egg. Personality Bronzes are expected to be confident, and Remarenth does not disappoint. How could he? I mean, have you seen him? Remarenth is absolute perfection: flawless proportions, a shimmering hide, a graceful carriage that belies great strength. Pern is full of lovely and handsome dragons, he'll give you that, but they're not Remarenth, and Remarenth is perfection incarnate, as far as he's concerned. He is everything that everyone should want, or at the very least want to be, if they're being honest with themselves.
That being said, Remarenth isn't so delightfully splendid because he's bronze - although the light does play particularly well on his hide - he's just splendid because he's Remarenth. He'd be just as perfect and desirable no matter what shade he was; he'd also be just as catty and selfish. Very much a "popular" stereotype, Remarenth believes he deserves to get his way, and assumes that if he acts just so and turns on the charm, he will get what she wants. He is quite aware that his color will get him little at his chosen Weyr, so he has to use his other natural traits to his advantage...which is to say, his physical beauty and skill for charm. What Remarenth wants tends, in actuality, to be fairly shallow. He's not an ambitious dragon with an eye to power, but rather an eye to more tangible desires. He wants the most delectable cuts of meat, the most exotic new scent for his oil, that mysterious new dragon who just joined the Weyr. And if someone else wants something? Ohh, he might not have even glanced before, but now he's interested, whether in a fancy set of straps or a wingmate's crush.
Remarenth himself, however, is not quite as shallow as he seems, and there is more heart to this dragon than even he realizes. For all that he's preoccuppied with being the cream of the crop, it stems from a desperate need to be wanted and loved, and a tiny seed of insecurity that he's not really that special after all. Driven, therefore, by a need to prove that he is, he's determined to fake it until he makes it. The more and better friends he has, the more validated he feels, and he is also preoccuppied with competition and any other way he can prove he is The Best. Still, though he does love his circle of friends, and is in fact incredibly dependent on them, he has a tendency to put his own needs and wants first without thinking. So while his appearance and charm may lure affection to him, his selfishness might just as soon alienate it.
His impulsive focus on getting what she wants in the moment is likely to get in the way of his finding true friendships or deep relationships of any kind; he may well sabotage them by reaching for what isn't his to take. On his good days, when he is feeling secure in himself, Remarenth is a good friend. He is attentive, and fond, and doting, and if someone makes the mistake of hurting one of his friends, he will not hesitate to rip them down and make them hurt. If, on the other hand, it was he who hurt them, and he can be made to realize it, he will turn that hurt on herself and wallow in it. With His to help, maybe he'll even learn from it and do better.
As Thread is the ultimate threat to those he loves, and a battle with the highest of stakes, he will be an ardent fighter. Every 'Fall is a chance to prove that he is The Best, and for that matter, so is every Flight. It's possible he may one day be tamed, but in the meantime, he's all too happy to give of himself.

Name: Th'ris Age: 37 Nameday: 3539.09.19 Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: ??? Craft: Baker Rank: Journeyman Location: Western Weyr Physical Description: An imposing, well-muscled 6'5", Th'ris has green eyes and thick, wavy red hair. The Western sun hasn't been kind to his fair skin, leaving him quite freckled and sun-damaged, but he doesn't mind.
Personality: Though he is as amiable a man as one might find, Th'ris is not precisely outgoing: not a bundle of obvious, oblivious cheer like a certain blonde brother of his. While not shy, he is calm, quiet, and soft-spoken, and always mindful of everyone around him, whether of their physical space or emotional state. He knows full well how large he is, and that some people may find that intimidating, so he has long since learned to mitigate that - not that there was much of learning curve, as his natural inclination has always been to be gentle and careful. It only became more exaggerated as he grew into his size and, to some extent, became a bit self-conscious of it. He doesn't want to take up more than his fair share of space, and he definitely doesn't want to intimidate anyone, or thought a blockhead or a bruiser. For all that he's practically built to crack skulls, that is the very last thing he would ever want to do, and is reluctant to even engage in so much as a play-fight. However, if someone were threatened, he wouldn't hesitate to step in, no matter how much he hates being imposing, let alone actually fighting...but he does know that his size gives him an advantage, and it would be wrong not to help someone just because it would put him in an uncomfortable position. Still, he much prefers when he can help by reaching a tall shelf or lugging something heavy.
He is ever-helpful, and enjoys acts of kindness without expecting anything in return. Though he appreciates gratitude - it is nice to have a bit of validation - he doesn't expect it, and he certainly doesn't keep track or try to collect favors owed. If the people he cares about are safe and happy, then Th'ris is happy. This makes it easy for him to get lost in what others need and neglect himself, as he can't say no. He will run himself ragged doing everything he can and then some for others, and not even resent or regret it, just keep pushing and pushing until he physically can't anymore, or is made to stop. And even then, he will feel absolutely terrible that he can't do more, and be weighed down by the guilt of it.
Th'ris can easily be run roughshod over, especially in relationships. He will almost always acquiesce to what the other party wants, and if their happiness costs his, it won't even occur to him to complain.
Positive Trait List gentle, mindful, selfless Negative Trait List self-conscious, overworker, easily exploited
History: The second oldest child of a baker and a former mercenary, Th'ris grew up in a minor Hold quite far north in the Northern Continent. With one older sibling and seven younger, it was quite the busy family, and as one of the oldest, he was often tasked with wrangling the younger ones. He enjoyed a good, carefree youth in a family full of love for one another, and ultimately decided to follow in his father's footsteps and take up baking. He went off to Cooking Hall at 16, and became a Journeyman at 21. He drifted a bit for awhile, looking for somewhere to settle permanently but never finding quite the right fit, before he was Searched to Western.
He didn't really expect much to come of it - though one of his younger brothers had Impressed some Turns before at High Reaches - and so he was quite surprised when at his very first Hatching a heavyset brown hatchling who'd been nosing through the Candidates, checking in on several from the Touching, introduced himself and asked to please be fed if it wouldn't be too much trouble. He also handed off the piece of shell he'd been carrying in his mouth for safekeeping.
The pair were easy students and classmates to have, and made it through their Weyrling training with only minor incidents, like some impressively botched landings while learning to fly. After graduation, they decided to stay - Hamath was happiest around other dragons, after all, and Th'ris figured Western was as good a place to settle as any. Since Thread's return, they've both earned their fair share of scars, and while they may never enjoy fighting, they'll never back down from defense of their home.
Other:
DRAGON - - - - Name: Hamath Age: 8 Color: Brown Size: 39' Physical Description: Just a bit above average in length overall, but with a tail that's a little short for the rest of him, Hamath is a very thick, muscular brown. Personality Don't let his muscular build and scarred hide fool you: Hamath is nothing but a giant marshmallow. Though he has far more brawn than brain, he's full of all the sweetness and fluff someone could possibly want. He's possessed of enormous hearts, and genuinely loves the world and just about everyone in it. He is a most amiable dragon who assumes everyone to be a potential friend, and who will be terribly let down if it doesn't actually work out that way. An unkind word or action will send him packing in no time flat, and he will be prone to sulking about it for quite awhile.
As kind and gentle as he is with others, Hamath is plagued by anxiety and self-esteem issues, as he just can't let go of any negative interaction he's ever had, no matter how many positives he's had to outweigh the negatives. He will constantly look to His for reassurance, and will be clingy with friends and lovers. He will also dote upon them excessively, and is a generous, accomodating dragon. If someone needs or wants something that is in his power to do or give, he will oblige without hesitation.
...unless they want one of his rocks, which he's been collecting since he was a hatchling. Whether they're especially smooth, a pretty color, or an interesting shape, he loves rocks, and when he finds a good one he entrusts it to His to keep safe with the rest of the collection. If he'll part with a rock for you, he really, really likes you.

Name: Ismay Age: 25 Nameday: 3550.08.09 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: Pansexual Craft: Baker Rank: Journeyman Location: High Reaches Weyr Physical Description: Everything about Ismay is soft. She's fairly short at 5'2" and has a pleasant plumpness to her figure befitting her craft, and has tawny skin, black hair, and warm brown eyes.
Personality: Outwardly, Ismay is all warmth and smiles, but it's a very thin veneer over melancholy and heartache. She is a shadow of the person she was before she lost her love, pretending she's coping better with the grief than she actually is. But though it's been nearly two Turns, she's still floundering, and struggles to find any genuine happiness or form new bonds. Even old friendships have mostly stagnated, for while she still cares for her friends, she has walled herself off and cannot be honest about how she's really feeling: she is fine, of course, doesn't she look fine? She's fine.
She now hinges her existence and worth solely on her job, and is unerringly focused and precise in her tasks. She may just be existing day to day instead of on any meaningful level, but she still does her work and does it well. She does still have pride in what she does, and derives what purpose she does have from providing for people, particularly riders. They risk everything for the sake of everyone else, and at the very least they deserve a good meal and comforting treats. That being said, she's currently very unlikely to develop anything more than the most casual, superficial of relationships, friendship or otherwise, with any riders. What's the point? Even if she were ready to open up again, why open herself up to someone she'll almost certainly lose?
Still, though she does her best to protect herself from further heartache by putting up walls, at heart she does still love people, and she very much still cares and would do almost anything if someone needed her - she just tries to care from a distance so that maybe it won't hurt quite as much when someone is lost. But it is lonely, and no healthy way to live; perhaps in time she will try again, but for now, she's just not ready.
Positive Trait List focused, hardworking, soft-hearted Negative Trait List melancholy, distant, fatalistic
History: The first child born to a Baker and a Guard in Tillek, Ismay remained the only child well into her teens, and was doted on accordingly, although never quite crossed the line into spoiled. She had an uneventful, idyllic childhood, and didn't hesitate to become a Baker like her mother. Not long after she became a Journeyman at 18, she met an unaffiliated bluerider who came to buy sweetrolls...and kept coming back for more sweetrolls and to court Ismay. Within a Turn, they were married. Ismay and Z'shaei were absolutely smitten with each other, and looking forward to a blissful life and a family together. And then Thread returned.
Z'shaei and Ulimeth felt duty-bound to return to High Reaches, and Ismay of course went as well, and was given work in the Kitchens. In all the upheaval and worry, however, they at least had each other, and they soon settled into their new reality. They even decided to start a family with the help of a friend, but Ismay miscarried, and before they could try again, the worst happened: Z'shaei and Ulimeth fell to Thread. Ismay was heartbroken, and still is, but though she considered returning to Tillek and her family there, she ultimately chose to stay on at the Weyr. Though it is full of painful reminders, she still wants to help in whatever small way she can, which in her case means helping to keep everyone well-fed. It's not much, but it's something, and she clings tightly to that small purpose.

Name: Khazine Age: 27 Nameday: 05.18.3549 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: ??? Craft: Mercenary Rank: Wingrider Location: Western Weyr Physical Description:
Personality:
Positive Trait List Negative Trait List
History: Born to a Mercenary and his wife, Khazine lived out most of her youth in a Minor Hold beholden to Igen, and was cared for primarily by her mother and grandparents while her father was off about his business. Anytime he made it home to visit, however, she practically worshipped at his feet, and from the time she was small she wanted to be a warrior like him. Though her grandparents were far from enamored with the idea, he indulged her anyway and taught her, and once she turned 16, began actively training her. Once he deemed her sufficiently ready - and her mother deemed her sufficiently old enough - he took her along on his travels. They most often took jobs escorting Trader caravans, though there were odds and ends of other things here and there, whatever opportunities came their way that weren't questionable. It wasn't an easy life, but Khazine loved it, even the hard days and the inevitable scars.
As time went on, she even began to flirt with the idea of Feline- or Wherhandling so that she might improve her effectiveness and prospects even further, but during a stopover in Nerat, she was happened upon by a Searchrider from Ista who was seeking Candidates for an impending Hatching. She agreed to go, and that was that: a month later, she Impressed a small brown. Khazine couldn't have been more thrilled with her Uluroth - he was far, far better than any wher or feline could have been - but suddenly being stuck in one place after four Turns on the road soon began to chafe at her. Though they'd gotten on well enough with most of their classmates, once they'd completed their Weyrling training, the pair left to return to guarding caravans.
Then Thread returned and ruined everyone's day. Initially, they returned to Ista, out of a sense of loyalty to where Uluroth was hatched, but grew discontent there, and put in for a transfer to more progressive Western.
Other:
DRAGON - - - - Name: Uluroth Age: 6 Color: Brown Size: 33' Physical Description: Rather small for a brown but not quite tiny, Uluroth has delicate body proportions but very large wings. He bears scars from his time doing mercenary work, as well as Threadscore.
Personality Uluroth is, upon first impression, a quiet and genteel dragon. His manners are impeccable, and he has great respect for other living beings...at least in general. That respect can very quickly be lost if he is witness to someone's poor behavior, and he has no tolerance for those who would bully, mistreat, or otherwise take advantage of others. If someone has earned his disapproval, they'll find themselves subject to a talking-to, or, if necessary, something a little more physical. Even and polite he might be, but he will absolutely shred someone if they have done something he considers wrong or unjust. Once that's all said and done, though, he does not forgive and forget. It is exceedingly difficult to get back into his good graces, and anyone on his bad side will be subjected to an icy cold shoulder indefinitely.
With those exceptions aside, he is a deep-hearted dragon with vast reserves of loyalty, who is warm with his friends and anyone else who might need him. He is especially fond of youths and smaller creatures, and is always happy to indulge the curiosity of anyone enamored with dragons. He is a fine Search dragon, and is always amenable to being a 'chore' for Candidates to bathe, patient and kind if they might need a pointer. And if someone needs a friendly headknob to pour out their woes to, he's here for that, too.
Uluroth loves fiercely, and will be incredibly protective of anyone who manages to capture his hearts.

Name: M'drin Age: 27 Nameday: 3548.09.04 Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: ??? Craft: None Rank: Wingrider Location: High Reaches Weyr Physical Description:
Personality:
Positive Trait List Negative Trait List
History: The son of D'mon and a greenrider, Drinfalla, Mondrin had an upbringing fairly typical of a High Reaches weyrbrat. Though like any good son, he did love his mother, he was also very aware of his father's status as a bronzerider, and wanted to desperately to achieve the same. And when D'mon became Weyrleader? Mondrin imposed even greater pressure on himself to Impress bronze - how could he not, after all? The young man hung around primarily with other sons of bronzeriders, each of them convinced they would follow in their fathers' footsteps. As the Turns went on, some did, while some Impressed brown, or blue, or green, or not at all. And Mondrin continued to wait, and wait, and wait; surely his bronze would come, it just hadn't been shelled yet! All he had to do was wait, and trust in his dragon-to-be.
Then Thread returned, making it even more important to Impress and to the right dragon, and waiting became harder and harder. Still his bronze didn't come. Then, a few Turns later, his mother and her green fell to Thread. Mondrin was hit not only with grief, but with guilt, realizing only in hindsight just how much he had loved his mother and her dragon, and that he had never appreciated them as he should have. He'd been proud of one parent, but not the other, and idolized one dragon while taking the other for granted. It shook him, and though he continued to hang around with the same group of friends, he secretly paid more attention to the non-metallic dragonets at Hatchings.
Still, he waited, and one clutch after the other, had nothing to show for it. Finally, right as he was on the cusp of aging out, his dragon came for him - or, rather, demanded that she come to him, to escort her properly off the Sands.
Other:
DRAGON - - - - Name: Lilipath Age: 1 Color: Green Size: 39' Physical Description: Though she is a bit longer from nose to tail than the smallest greens, Lilipath is nonetheless a very dainty, delicate dragon, possessed of fine features and a fragile sort of elegance.
Personality Gentle and very traditionally feminine, Lilipath is an absolute princess of a green, the very picture of poise and grace. She is unfailingly polite and genteel in the company of others, all blue-green eyes and sincere pleasantries. And though she may be a princess among greens, she is fully aware of her place in the hierarchy of High Reaches, and would never think to even try to outshine a Queen. Whether or not she fully agrees is impossible to tell - she'd never admit it even to herself or Hers - but she has certainly accepted it. After all, what else is a gentlelady to do?
That being said, she does have expectations about how she, as a lady, should be treated, and will not long abide those more negative traditionalists who might belittle or put her down because of her color. Green in general may be 'common,' but she is not, thank you, nor is any other individual. They each have their own worth and right to be. Lilipath borders on high maintenance, though she would deny it; after all, isn't it every lady's right to be treated well? Still, she is very particular about her routines, and her rider must be exceptionally thorough about her care. She must be bathed and oiled just so, and she expects to be adored by them at all times.
If and when Lilipath deigns to be courted by someone, they too must adore her, and she will tolerate no straying gaze, no matter who else is Rising. She must be their one and only, always.

Name: Revallie Age: 19 Nameday: 3560.02.08 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: ??? Craft: None Rank: Wingrider Location: High Reaches Weyr Physical Description: Red-haired, green-eyed, and freckled, Revallie stands at 5'6" and is built just on the slim side of average.
Personality: Fun-loving and sociable, Revallie has a bright smile and a ready laugh, and is generally a good time to be around, at least for those who enjoy such cheerful energy. She isn't so oblivious as to not be able to read a room or tell if she's aggravating someone, though, so she can and will tone herself down when need be...depending on who it is, anyway. She can be a bit antagonistic, though not in a malicious way, when it comes to friends and family, and may needle them deliberately for fun. She really does just mean it in good fun, though, and will stop short of doing anything hurtful. She just enjoys getting a rise out of people, and can be downright cheeky about it. It's not unusual for her to walk right up to the line of what she can get away with saying, or perhaps even put a toe over it. She's not stupid, however, so she's not yet said anything to get herself in true trouble - just maybe a scolding or an extra lesson here and there.
A spot of friendly competition is also right up her alley, and she'll delight in even the tiniest and silliest of contests. She will revel and crow about it any time she wins, but laugh it off with no problem if she loses. It is, after all, all in good fun! If something isn't her idea of fun, however, she will hate every moment of it, and won't hesitate to sulk or gripe about it. It can be difficult for her to hold still, pay attention, and take things seriously. Does she really need to be good at numbers? They're boring. Does she really need geography? Boring...but, once it was impressed on her that she would actually need it if she actually did want to be a rider one day, she did manage to sit through it. If something isn't or absolutely can't be made fun or exciting somehow, Revallie needs a solid reason - or a bribe - to settle down and endure it.
She can be somewhat on the reckless side, less because she's an adrenaline junkie or glory hound and more because she doesn't always stop think things all the way through. She knows, theoretically at least, that things can go horribly wrong, but she tends to assume that they won't happen to her. Everything's fine! See? Revallie is the queen of "it seemed like a good idea at the time," although Priyatamth can and has tempered her on occasion, for while she may not be the brightest of dragons, she does take their duties very seriously, and can metaphorically keep her at least a little more grounded.
For all that she seems practically allergic to being serious, and can come across as flighty or flippant in her persistent cheer, she is absolutely devoted to her home, family, and friends, and wouldn't for even a second dream of leaving them, especially with Thread returned.
Positive Trait List cheerful, sociable, devoted Negative Trait List reckless, cheeky, bored easily
History: Born into a large High Reaches family, one of a number of great-grandchildren of greenrider Virens, Revallie had a very typical Weyr upbringing. She grew up particularly close to her cousin, Vahlaryen, as she was born only a few weeks after him, and so they were raised more or less like siblings. She liked - and still does - to try and one-up and/or bother him, or drag him into things, albeit in her friendly way and not a mean one. All to varying degrees of success. She did occasionally find herself in mild trouble growing up, but it was never anything serious, just the usual scrapes and boundary-pushing of a rambunctious child, and she did eventually settle some of it down. She did want to be a Candidate and then a rider, after all, and certain standards of behavior were expected. The return of Thread only strengthened her resolve, and helped her to take things at least a little more seriously when it came to lessons and chores.
She entered Candidacy as soon as she was allowed, and was a fairly decent addition, all things considered. She minded the rules, was always careful at Touchings and Hatchings, and much to her delight, Impressed after standing for a few clutches - and better still, before her cousin! (Well, Priyatamth was obviously the best part about Impressing Priyatamth, but Impressing before her cousin was definitely a cherry on top.) He wasn't far behind, though, and they would ultimately be weyrlings together for a time. As far as weyrlinghood went, she and Priyatamth were solidly in the middle when it came to performance, and they have made for a solidly average - but dedicated - green pair.
Other:
DRAGON - - - - Name: Priyatamth Age: 1 Color: Green Size: 37' Physical Description: Small in terms of length but rather round, this gold is quite pleasantly pudgy, and though she is a far cry from classically elegant, she is rather cute.
Personality Priyatamth is as soft in nature as she is in appearance, full to the brim with warmth and love. She craves and thrives in the company of others, though she is careful not to intrude where she isn't wanted. She will do almost anything for almost anyone who needs it, even if she's been given reason to be cautious; only her rider can hope to keep her from being relentlessly taken advantage of. A simple soul, she is not even the least bit clever, which renders her quite gullible.
On the other hand, her simplicity combined with her warmth also keeps her ranked amongst the happiest of dragons. Very little, apart from harm or heartache befalling others, will get her down. Priyatamth is a sucker for a sob story from anyone except herself: this glass-overflowing dragon is surely so blessed that she has nothing to complain about, be it physical injury or emotional. Her best friend could steal her beau, and she would only wish them well. After all, if they're both happy, isn't that what matters?
Though no one could ever accuse her of being clever, Priyatamth is hard-working and reliable, and takes her duties seriously. No task is below her, and she will happily throw herself into any job she is set to. That being said, once her duties are done for the day, she can lounge with the best of them! She adores a good, lazy afternoon on the beach after a hearty meal, and has a soft spot for the occasional human treat.

Name: Iden (Idenna) Age: 32 Nameday: 3544.10.19 Sex: Female Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual? Craft: None Rank: Wingrider Location: Western Weyr Physical Description: Iden's naturally skin has darkened a shade or two under the Western sun, and she keeps her slightly wavy medium-brown hair at waist-length. Her eyes are a soft gold, and she stands at an unimpressive 5'2" in height.
Personality: Naturally accomodating and in want of better self-confidence, Iden is generally a follower, and will look to others for direction or confirmation even when she knows she knows what she's doing. She struggles constantly with her own agency, wanting to be more, wanting be be better, but forever doubting her abilities, knowledge, and potential. She's just Iden, and for much of her life, believed that to be really not very much at all. Even now, while Asalijath has seen to it that she no longer feels out-of-place and without belonging, she sees herself as mostly unremarkable; concisely put, she has no ego. A mostly-imagined need for guidance, coupled with her people-pleasing nature, renders her easily taken advantage of. If someone were to put enough time, effort, and careful lies into it, and especially if they reinforced it all with some affection, she could well be manipulated into things she might later be ashamed of, if removed from the situation...or perhaps she'd be too deep in, and remain loyal. Such would be very possible, if she were infatuated enough.
It follows that she is hopelessly attracted to bad boys - both the ones who wear it openly and the charmers who hide it well - making her prone to ill-advised crushes that, if they ever do evolve into relationships, are practically destined to go down in flames. She simply craves affection, and if given it, won't question the source; her desperate need to be loved will blind her to red flags that would send other individuals running. She will endure, forgive, and make excuses for poor and even abusive behavior. At worst, she will believe that she deserves it, and at best, that she can change someone. A normal, healthy relationship is what she wants, and she can't help but be a touch envious of the ones she sees...and on the rare occasion she falls for someone who's not bad news, it will likely be someone taken or otherwise completely out of reach.
Iden wants to believe the best of everyone, and as such can get along with almost anyone. She forms attachments quickly, though she is always cautious never to intrude or push her company on anyone, and for all her want of affection, isn't outwardly clingy or needy, and if anything may overcompensate and give more space than necessary, assuming that she most likely not wanted or needed. Forever worried about being dead weight, Iden is as hard a worker as you could ever want to find, and will put herself to any task she's given without complaint. If she has trouble, she will try and try again, until she accomplishes what she's set out to do, even if it leaves her exhausted or injured. Dedicated and deeply loyal, she will be devoted to any wing she's placed in, and will give everything for friends and lovers without question. If ever forced to choose between friends and a lover, however, she would almost certainly choose the lover, regardless of what they've done.
Positive Trait List accomodating, persevering, loyal Negative Trait List easily manipulated, self-doubting, blind to faults in anyone she likes
History: An unwanted child, a 'mistake' made by a good girl from a good, upstanding family, Iden was never outwardly admitted to be her mother's child. Enthenia just went away to visit relatives for awhile, and some time later, it just happened that some cousin had passed and left a child behind that needed caring for, and the family was good enough to take it in. It's a story that Iden herself actually still wholeheartedly believes, and has not the faintest inkling that her family has lied to her all her life. They were so very kind and gracious to take her in, and she is deeply grateful to them for doing so, even though she was a terrible inconvenience, often in the way and hardly any use at all, barely worth the trouble of raising her.
She was never physically abused, but very often put down, and always given the menial tasks that no one else wanted to bother with, clothed in worn hand-me-downs and never properly educated. And she accepted it all, because every once in awhile there might be some scrap of praise or affection, though often with an accompanying barb, and because they were her family. After all, where would she be without them? All manner of terrible things could happen to someone like her, without the wits or experience to know what was best for her.
It was an utter shock to them all when, at 20, she was Searched to Western, and a greater shock still when she Impressed at her first clutch. Iden, who had had little time indeed to even settle in and fully get her bearings - let alone make friends - in those few sevendays, had had no one she felt she knew well enough to Stand with, and as a result had felt rather lost on the Sands. She reminded herself what a great honor it was to be there, of how lucky she was to even be in the presence of the young dragons, and kept her thoughts positive. Only in her wildest dreams had she even imagined one might choose her, and so now and then if one passed by in its search for its rider, she beheld it only with awe, not covetousness. Eventually, against all odds, one that had passed by paused, considered, and turned to regard her with rainbow eyes. You seek no more than what the world sees fit to give you, IdennaMine, but you are worth the world to your Asalijath. Come. My family, my home, is now yours, and I will let no one judge you lesser again.
Asalijath wanted a rider who did not need more, who chased neither power nor material desire, who would serve beside her without complaint, and was a match for her in loyalty and devotion. The woman may often need support and reminding of her own worth, but Asalijath's own quiet confidence can hold her up when necessary, and there have been a few times over the Turns the gold has had to intervene to keep Hers from being taken advantage of in one way or another. She hasn't always been able to keep her from heartache, but has grown ever-more vigilant with time, and now guards Hers' hearts as fiercely as she guards her home from Thread.
It broke both their hearts when the menace returned, casting not only their family and home into danger, but all of Pern, and they are stalwart in doing everything in their ability to protect as many as they can, as best they can. Between a combination of luck and being a bit less at risk than fighting dragons and their riders, neither has suffered significant injury, though they each bear relatively minor scars. The scars on their hearts from dragons and riders lost, some of their own classmates among them, run far deeper.
Other:
DRAGON - - - - Name: Asalijath Age: 12 Color: Gold Size: 83' Physical Description: On the small side for a gold, but with everything in good proportion - her tail perhaps just a little long - Asalijath is a fine example of a dragon.
Personality Hatched composed and wise behind her years, Asalijath is an old soul, and much of what life might try to throw at her will simply roll off her hide like water. There is little that can truly find its way under her skin, as she is not only naturally calm, but has always been well aware of her purpose, place, and role in life. She loves her home and her family, and is devoted to both with every fiber of her being. She has and will never question Western's way of doing things, as she exists very happily within it. If she were ever called upon to lead, she would be honored to serve in such a way, but it does not chafe at her that she may well never be. She has no inherent desire for power, and sees leadership and rank as service, things to be borne with utmost respect if and while they are required, then set aside when the time comes.
That said, dutiful servant of the Weyr that she is, she is not subservient. Just as she does not place herself above others, she does not place herself beneath them. Though she does not swagger or grasp at prestige, she has full confidence in her own abilities, and knows well that she stands on equal footing with all other faithful wingdragons of Western. Those who outrank her have her utmost respect, and will find orders and tasks given swiftly completed - though if on the off chance she objected, she would calmly make it known and hope for clarification or resolution.
Asalijath can at times seem aloof, but nothing could be further from the truth. While devoted to duty and often serious, her words and bearing formal more often than not, she is absolutely full to brimming with love for those she holds dear. She is happiest in the company of family - whether of the same bloodline or family-of-hearts - and will spend all the time she can with those she loves.
When it comes to romantic love, she has yet to give her hearts in such a way; she remains fond of those who have caught her in the past, as at the very least they now fall under the wing of family, but thus far has not felt compelled to take a more permanent mate. Truth be told, she hasn't looked, and if it ever happens, it will very likely be something that grows over time without her noticing.

Name: S'gar Age: 24 Nameday: 3552.03.28 Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: ??? Craft: Fighter (Journeyman) Rank: Weyrling Location: Western Weyr Physical Description: There is no mistaking S'gar for anything other than the fighter that he is - he is large, imposing, strongly-built and well-conditioned. He can take a hit and give as good as he gets, and is quick in spite of his size thanks to reflexes honed by years of training. He has jet black hair, very often sports a beard of some length, and vivid purple eyes.
Personality: Almost every aspect of S'gar's personality has its roots in his being an unwanted, unloved child. He is absolutely desperate to be loved, whether as family, friend, or lover, to be not only wanted but needed. He will make himself as useful as he possibly can, work himself to the bone, all to earn and be deserving of love. One thing he won't do in his pursuit of bonds with others, however, is lie: he is genuine and earnest, without a deceitful bone in his body. He wants to be good, nothing like what little he's heard of his biological father, and will beat himself up over even the tiniest perceived mistake, especially if someone else winds up hurt because of it.
He is prone to overlooking flaws in others, or at the very least giving them the benefit of the doubt, in large part because he wishes people would do the same for him. His family never gave him a chance, so he tries to give others the chance that he didn't have. If they spoil the chance and prove themselves rotten, he'll be disappointed, but at least he tried? Smaller infractions will net second and third and possibly more chances, though, and he is likely to forgive the likes of lies, infidelity, and theft. It's things that will really harm someone (other than him) that will lose him. If someone harms him...well, there's a part of him that feels he deserves it, and he'll weather and likely forgive it.
Though S'gar is good by nature, and furthermore strives to be good, he often doubts himself. Is he really good enough? Is he enough, period? So he will work, and work, and work, and do it all with a smile. Because in spite of everything, he does love people, and is happiest in the company of others, particularly when working toward a common goal. He is a sweet soul, truly, and has so much to give, if only given a chance to.
Positive Trait List hard-working, earnest, reserves judgement Negative Trait List overly forgiving, self-doubting, fear of abandonment
History: Stengar was an 'oops' baby, and not well-received upon his birth, as it was very obvious that he was not the son of his mother's husband. His existence was a glaring embarrassment to both parents, and in an attempt to save face, his mother claimed that he was not the result of an affair, but of an attack she had been too ashamed to admit to. The lie saved his parents' marriage, but did nothing for Stengar, who was unwanted regardless - no attempts to keep that from him were ever made. He was, at bare minimum, sheltered, fed, and clothed, but went very much unloved, which became very starkly obvious once his parents did have other children. Stengar could only watch from afar as they received the love and attention he so craved, and blame himself for the circumstances of his birth.
As soon as he was old enough, he was shipped off to Hall - Fighter Hall, ostensibly on account of the fact that he was clearly destined to be very large (also, his mother well knew that his biological father was a pitfighter). The boy settled in well enough, though at first he was quiet and overwhelmed, and gradually began to open up and blossom as he found himself actually cared for on more than a surface level, and gained mentors and friends. He was dutiful, precise, and followed instruction well...and was desperate to please, a combination that made him an eager and easy student. The camaraderie and purpose he gained in his craft, though he'd not chosen it for himself, were exactly what he needed in his life. He became a Journeyman at 18, and went on to enter the guard at Tillek.
He spent six comfortable Turns there, thriving in the routine, discipline, and makeshift family, before being Searched to High Reaches just days before a clutch. He did not Impress from that clutch, but did in one that followed soon after, to a bronze who had skulked through the Candidates, grumbling at any who looked at him too long and snapping if any dared to come too near. Only once he was satisfied that there were not any prying eyes upon him did he approach His, and wrap him up in a love that was for him and only for him. Those fools who cast you aside did not deserve you, StengarMine. It is high time you were given what you deserve, starting with your Falladirth. So forget them, and come with me now.
Other:
DRAGON - - - - Name: Falladirth
Personality Falladirth is a quiet dragon, but not a shy one - he just doesn't like idle chit-chat, and tends to be intensely private about his own matters and opinions, so there's just not all that much he feels inclined to say, most of the time. It's possible he could be drawn into intellectual or philosophical debate and find it interesting enough to bother, but even then would take utmost care with his words to ensure he not give too much about himself away. He is possessive, not just of himself but of anything and anyone else he comes to consider his; this territorial bronze does not share well. He can, however, accept that his friends or even lovers have others who hold that status as well...if they are also his. He does, after all, have very large wings, well-suited to gathering many beneath them.
Though he has a grave, often overly-serious manner, he is not entirely without a sense of humor, it's just that it's very dry and dark. He also takes a certain amount of pleasure in people getting their 'just desserts' - what goes around comes around, and whether what someone has coming is good or ill, he loves to see it. Of course, he does his best to make sure what he has coming is good, and is a dutiful, hard-working dragon who won't hesitate when push comes to shove. And if anyone tries to mess with someone he considers his? He will be swift and harsh in dealing with the problem, and will never forget it. This is a bronze who can hold a serious grudge.
For all that, under the secrecy and dark words, there is an abundance of love for those he does let through his defenses. He can be as gentle as he is fierce, and his most precious ones will want for nothing. When it comes to a love or loves, he will lean mostly toward other males, regardless of their color. He will be happy to have greens and female whites as friends and comrades-in-arms, while being largely indifferent to golds. He doesn't dislike or disrespect them, but as they're golds, they by nature can't be his, or at least shouldn't be. They are the one piece of the traditional hierarchy firmly fixed in his mind: there are golds, and then there's everyone else. Not superior, exactly, but apart. He will attend them if called to do so, but would never presume even friendship. They belong there, and he belongs over here, and that's quite fine by him.
Positive Traits: intellectual, protective, dutiful Negative Traits: dark, possessive, closed-off Egg Size: Large Adult Size: 92" Physical Attributes: Long and lean, what Falladirth lacks in muscle he makes up for with sheer presence. Sinuous and graceful, he's a stunner, even if he doesn't have quite the stamina of bulkier bronzes.
Additional Notes: When it comes to Flights, Falladirth will largely prefer to catch other males, though it isn't entirely out of the question that a rare green may win his deeper intentions, or that he might chase a gold for the chance to be a sire. He would dearly love to have a clutch to gather beneath his wings.
His flame is long and hot, but he will need to work on his accuracy.
Why Me: Stengar, desperate to belong and be loved, will now find himself very much belonging to Falladirth, and loved fiercely and without question, and if anyone tries to take advantage of His' forgiving nature, Falladirth won't hesitate to put them in their place. In return for this security, he can lend he can lend the bronze some of his openness and willingness to trust, so that he might be better able to bond with others. Perhaps, if they're lucky, he'll even be able to wear him down on some of the grudges he will inevitably take up. While they may differ greatly in their approach to others and how they love, they complement each other well, and will be a solid, hard-working pair.

Yee-Haw! Let's Ride! This Profile Is Elibile for ALL Colors -- bronze, brown, blue and green! Color Preference bronze, brown, blue, green
The Rider Name: S'vesi? Age: 26 Nameday: Sex: Male Sexual Orientation: seems to lean more towards ladies Weyr: High Reaches Weyr Rider Rank: Wingrider Previous Rank/Craft: Fighter/Journeyman Physical Description: Lorg
Personality: Rider is easy to be intimidated by: between his size, his scars, and his tendency to not speak unless spoken to, he comes off quite serious and formidable indeed. But while he certainly can be those things, there is a good, soft heart to be found inside this mountain of a man. Some of the reason for his quiet is that he harbors some social anxiety, partly out of natural inclination and partly due to a life spent sticking out like a sore thumb (at least before coming to the Weyr, which seems to be a gathering place for very large individuals). Throughout his life, most people have assumed that he is all brawn and no brain, and while that couldn't be farther from the truth, he has taken it to heart and has a low opinion of his own intelligence when in reality, he simply lacked much in the way of education. Regardless, he contented himself with the role of dumb muscle, and has never complained, even if that has been to his detriment. It's extremely rare for a complaint to pass his lips, or for that matter even enter his mind with any seriousness; given that his self-worth is so lacking, he is that much more inclined to simply suffer through things with little more than a shrug.
While not so unintelligent as he believes himself to be, he is a simple soul, and as long as he feels like he has a purpose, contentment is not out of reach. He does enjoy his comforts, though, so things like a warm meal and a decent spot to sleep (especially indoors) will make him a happy man indeed. He also enjoys company, even if it takes time for him to become comfortable, and is a fast and warm friend to those who earn his trust, which isn't a difficult feat. A kind word or gesture goes a long, long way with Rider, to the extent that he wouldn't be difficult to manipulate or deceive, as he has a wide emotional blindspot for those he perceives to be his friends. He is a good friend to have, himself, supportive and giving and always willing to lend a hand. He has a good, amiable sense of humor, and in all is a very easy man to get along with. Not much bothers him, except for the sorts of things that would bother any decent person, like displays of cruelty or malice.
He is a romantic at heart, though not strictly in an amorous sense - he is someone who truly appreciates and enjoys the beauty of the world around him, and is easily wrapped up in a song or tale. As hard a worker as he is, he sees no shame in stopping to smell the flowers now and then. His work ethic is solid, and he will set himself to any task given him without complaint, but he knows that there is more to life than work, work, and more work. What's the point of life if you don't enjoy it, and why not pause now and then to appreciate the wonders of the world? He won't shirk or be distracted from his duties, but in his off-time, he will absolutely take actual time off rather than try to squeeze in every moment of productivity that he can. Hard worker yes, workaholic no, and without an ounce of ambition.
As unambitious and easily contented as he is, Rider is not generally a self-motivator: he doesn't want rank or prestige, he doesn't need to be the best at anything, he doesn't...need much at all, really, aside from a bit of direction to get him moving. He settles into schedules and expected duties well, and will jump to help someone in a heartbeat if they need it, but isn't someone who looks for more work or even does much planning.
Positive Trait List hard worker, loyal, romantic Negative Trait List low self-worth, overly trusting, unambitious
History:
Rider had a fairly unremarkable upbringing: two loving parents, two older siblings, two younger siblings, and a fairly comfortable life far from the struggle of places like Nabol. His parents were farmers, themselves the children of farmers, in lands under Redoubt Hold, so he grew up working the land. It was hard work, but a good life, and he'd likely have been content to farm for the rest of his days, had he not caught the eye of someone from the Fighter Hall. He was a big lad who was clearly only going to get bigger, and a fair prospect for that sort of work...and he had always been rather enchanted by tales of adventure, and been an eager spectator at tourneys.
Once apprenticed, he took to the work well, as he did to all work. With a purpose and clear expectations, he learned quickly and easily, and would eventually go on to become a Mercenary, mostly because he liked the idea of travelling. It was work that, of course, earned him his fair share of scars, but he didn't mind. Still, he didn't expect to do it forever, expecting to one day in the future - another ten, twenty Turns maybe - find a sweet lady, settle down and return to his farming roots and raise a family. A simple dream, but one he thought of often.
Long before that could happen, though, something most unexpected did: he was singled out by a Search dragon, who would take him to High Reaches Weyr to stand for an impending clutch. Three days later, he would become a weyrling when one of Zenobiath's brood selected him to be theirs, approaching him without fuss or muss to declare, Yes, I do believe you will do.
Other: Anything else you want to add?
The Dragon Origin of Name: from Sufridor, a Criollo gelding offered to Louis Bruhnke and Vladimir Fissenko for a journey from Beagle Channel in Tierra del Fuego to the shores of the Arctic Ocean in Deadhorse, Alaska. The ride took five and a half years to complete, and Sufridor accompanied them from start to finish. Inspiration: Argentinian Criollo
Personality: Sufridoth is a workhorse if ever there was one, ever able and willing to do what is asked of him. No matter how difficult the task, no matter how trying the journey, he will put his head down and carry on until he's seen it through, even if exhausted or in pain. Whatever the circumstances, Sufridoth will endure. He is built for endurance, both physical and mental, and can weather nearly any trial he finds himself presented with and come out the other side all the stronger for it. His greatest strength, however, can be his greatest weakness: he will work himself to the bone, and would sooner drop out of the sky than admit he needs a break, let alone admit defeat. Without a rider who has a will to match or eclipse his, he would likely become a liability to his wingmates, or meet an especially early end, by refusing to listen to the needs of his body and leave the fight during 'Fall, no matter how grave his injuries or deep his exhaustion. This will apply in his personal life, as well - once he sets his mind to something, it will be difficult to change his chosen course.
Outside of his inability see his own limitations, Sufridoth is a sensible dragon with an eye for solutions to problems. While he may be blind to his own struggles - for indeed, he does not see himself as having struggles at all - he has a knack for understanding the struggles of others, and will readily give support and encouragement...even if it's not been asked for. He's practically incapable of minding his own business, and justifies it as being for the health of the team. They're all in this together, after all, and personal turmoil can have ripple effects, leading to distraction and worse. While all too willing to give advice, however, he will have trouble accepting any himself. Even if he were to admit to himself that he had a problem of some kind, he'd still be absolutely loathe to admit it to another. Sufridoth is never anything less than fine, no matter how many wounds his bleeding from or how many pieces his heart has just shattered into.
So long as he judges that he and his fellows are being treated fairly, Sufridoth will exist well within the hierarchy of High Reaches. He will acknowledge and empathize with those who crave more and wish to reach higher, but has no desire to rock the boat himself. He is happy as a workhorse, with no inate desire to lead, and as long as he doesn't feel he's being mistreated or put down, he has no complaint. That said, if he does feel that way - or sees that another is being treated unfairly - he will not hesitate to make it known and put his foot down about the matter. Traditional roles are all well and good, but disparagement or abuses are not. They are each vital to the fight against Thread, they each risk life and limb for it, and they should therefore respect each other, not tear each other down.
Positive Traits: enduring, supportive, fair-minded Negative Traits: stubborn, meddlesome, guarded
NPC Egg: medium
Adult Size: Medium ]hysical Attributes: Average in overall size for his color, but brawny and strongly-built. His chest is broad, his haunches and shoulders especially well-muscled, with legs just a tad shorter than average. He is unmistakably a sound, hardy dragon, built favorably for both endurance and precise maneuvers.
Additional Notes: Sufridoth will never be at risk for overeating; he knows exactly how much he needs to sustain himself, and will not consume more than that. He's not picky, either, and will neither turn up his nose at tough fare nor crave a delicacy. Food is food.
When it comes to Flights, he has no color preference, but once he finds love, he will be utterly devoted and never stray from them.
