“Well, it just kind of came to me one day… I guess?” Sawenah laughed at how silly that sounded, “When I was a young girl- barely a Prentice, Lilah gave me a purse of coin and set me on a trade caravan heading through town. Told me to be smart and be safe...” She saw the rage returning to Moishye’s face and curled her lips flat to hide the smirk that was trying to break free. “I turned out alright~” she chuckled trying to keep him calm. Sawenah was thrilled to have Moishye in her life, and seeing his reaction made her feel all the more special.

Her attention was pulled away by Gaddok’s frustration with his hair. Sawenah choked back a laugh at his struggle, but as he gathered his hair and went for a dagger she jumped from her stool, “Woah, woah, woah!” tiptoeing around her father she gathered some leather cord from her cart and grabbed Gaddok’s mane, “No need to be rash~” she chimed, “I can fix this.” Taking hold of his damp locks she twirled and tucked half his hair into a bun and began wrapping the cord around, in and through the knot until she had just enough to tie it off, “There~” She grinned while stepping back and admiring her work, “It’s up and out of your face… Not to mention it must feel great in this stagnant heat.”

It was then she got a look at all the work Gaddok had put into her cart. The wheels were stripped off, her front wheels were replaced and the better of the four were stuck on the back. Most of the rotted wood, the really bad parts, had been replaced and the terrible paint stripped from the wood. He had installed pegs along the top rim of her cart to hang her pieces from and carved a simple tasteful pattern around the outer edge of the counter, “Oh Gaddok...” she slowly moved her hands to cover her mouth in shock and surprise, “It’s beautiful~” Tears began forming at the corners of her darkened eyes as she became overwhelmed by the kindness these men have shown her.

Gaddok sheathed the dagger and tried to pull his head free of her grasp as she began twisting and tying his hair a ball. It hurt! A lot~ But once it was done he was surprised to feel the breeze on his neck. Giving a sigh of relief he chuckled, “This is… fantastic. Why didn’t you do it sooner.” As great as this was now it was going to be borderline impossible to get out this knotted bun she placed atop his head; he may have to use that dagger yet~

Startled by her reaction to his work Gaddok staggered to his feet and stepped back, “Heh, yeah. It is looking a lot better, isn’t it? Just needed a little love that’s all.” Stepping up to her he wiped a tear from her eye, “Hey now, I said I would fix it… Don’t be upset.” Feeling his fingers lingering a bit too long as he continued to trace her cheek to keep the tears at bay, Gaddok pulled away and shook his head, “Sorry If I was harsh. I hadn’t realized all you had been through.” He distracted himself with the clean up of his little project.

“Ummm-” Moishye started as he shifted uncomfortably on his feet, “I think we may-” He began as three guards burst past him and approach the cart.

“Gaddok Dragol.” one of them announced, his voice purposely deepened to assert his authority, “We have a warrant from Zena to Arrest and transfer you to their custody.” his tone took a more amused tone as his two counterparts took an arm and began to detain him.

Sawenah’s cheeks blushed a soft pink as Gaddok traced her cheek. His hands were rough, but he was so tender as he brushed the tears away. His eyes so soft… She had butterflies in her stomach, but he quickly turned away and found other work to keep him busy. Sawenah, on the other hand, stood there with the same surprised expression, a slight blush to her cheeks, and it wasn’t until the guards approached that she snapped out of it.

“Gaddok Dragol…” she mouthed as if the name meant something to her. Then she realized the guards were arresting him, “Woah, Wait~ What are you doing!?” she screeched as she moved to stop them, only to be scooped up by her father, “You can’t just arrest him! What are the charges… Why are you doing this!?” She demanded, her voice getting increasingly agitated as they bound his hands in shackles.

Moishye did his best to keep Sawenah away from the guards, but was surprised at how strong she was as she struggled against his restraint, “Sawenah, Don’t interfere with this… You’ll get yourself arrested with him.”

“Says here on the order you fought in the resistance.” one of the men snorted as he looked over the papers, “Clearly they weren’t expecting you to be returned in pristine conditions...” he chuckled as the other man socked him in the stomach, then yanked him to his feet as he staggered from the blow.

Gaddok clenched his teeth to keep from getting himself in more trouble with these stooges, “Aggravated assault…” He coughed as he got his feet back under him, “Or some other ridiculous charge the council saw fit to hunt me for.”

“Ooooohohoho~” the man with the papers crooned, “Attempted Murder~ We got ourselves a degenerate running the streets of the capital, boys~” The guard shoved him to the other two who proceeded to shove, smack and kick him.

Rolling with the punches, Gaddok did his best to take hits to the abdomen; more muscle to block. He tripped one of the brutes, then stood away from the other, “Wait a minute now, Attempted Murder?!” His world started spiraling down as he thought that his father could really be dead… But attempted? So he wasn’t. Why would they send out these bogus charges over a scuffle that got a little too physical? And then it dawned on him… Did his health take a turn for the worse? Swallowing hard he was detained by his tripped charge and didn’t fight whatever abuses they saw fit… He couldn’t believe this was happening.

Struggling free of her father’s grasp Sawenah charged the guards shouting, “He wouldn’t do that! He would never do anything like that… He helped me. I didn’t even ask for it and he helped me!” She pleaded with the men while going for her weapon to intervene.

It was then she was snatched by the third guard who tightened his grip to keep her from interfering, “Miss, Just leave it be. There is nothing you can do. Return to your stall.” His voice was calm but authoritative as he handed her over to the shifter in her company, “I suggest keeping a better grasp on her unless you’d like her to join him… Assault of a guard would hold some nasty consequences.”

Moishye sat her down on the stool, “As upsetting as this is for you we can’t even begin to try and do anything until he has been processed… Then maybe we can go down and visit, or try to pay bail or-” He looked over his shoulder at the two men juggling Gaddok in the marketplace.

“Someone has to do something?! He wouldn’t murder someone!” Sawenah insisted. She may not have known him for too long, but she knew he wouldn’t outright kill someone; it was hard to imagine he would outright attack someone without good reason… There was more to the story and she knew it! Those men just weren’t giving him a chance!

“Someone should really do something, Indeed~” crooned a mysterious voice from the other side of the cart. Stepping up to the guard captain, he gave a grin, “What a wonderful Afternoon~ Wouldn’t you agree, Tarquin?”

Turning to meet the voice the guard huffed, “Dammit, Tahan! I don’t have time for your bull s**t today… What do you want?”

Mash’al gave a laugh at the guard’s shift in demeanor, “Oh~ Your reaction tells me you know very well what it is I came for.” he pointed to their prisoner, “I need him, and I’m willing to pay.”

“Yeah, So is Zena-”

“And what is your cut? A fraction? A fraction of a fraction…” He insisted while getting up in the guard's face, “Will you even see a bit of coin for your efforts with this… What did you say? Degenerate.” He chuckled at the word… ‘seemed fitting for the pathetic halfling. How did he manage to get Zena pissed at him?’ Mash’al wondered. “I could pay each of you for your efforts now… All you have to do is turn a blind eye, and I will ensure that this man sees justice for his crimes.”

Tarquin looked him over with suspicious eyes, “I’ve never known you to go easy on Resistance… ” he motioned for his men to come over with the prisoner, “I don’t know what you have up your sleeve, Tahan, but we’re even now...” He gave a shove to the prisoner as he snatched the offered coin.

“I appreciate you reasoning with me Captain~” Mash’al grinned as he took the Halflings arm, “The keys, Mr. Tarquin~” He added while holding out his hand, “Can’t do much if I can’t get his hands free.”

The captain tossed him the keys as he peered into the contents of the leather pouch to see his payment, “I expect those cuffs back, Tahan. When you’re through with whatever it is you have planned.”

“Of Course, Captain. A wonderful rest of your day, Sir.” Mash’al added as he stepped into the man’s view and worked the lock until the cuff’s lock sprung open, “There~ I trust you can be civil to a man who saved you more than a few beatings...” he gave a gentleman’s smile, but his eyes held another message.

“You’re Free!?” Sawenah chimed as she launched into Gaddok’s arms, Giving him a tight hug.

“Ha, It would appear as though I am~” He reciprocated the hug, his eyes never leaving the Oban… Gaddok didn’t trust this man as far as he could throw him; something was very wrong.

“Do you know this guy?” She asked while releasing him and looking over her shoulder to the smaller Oban male. He seemed innocent enough all done up in his armor, “Thank you for helping Gaddok~” She chimed while turning to hug him.

Mash’al stepped back and did his best to hide his disgust, “It's… Nothing, really… I assure you...” sidestepping the hybrid, he returned to his freed prisoner, “Well, Now that you’re freed from custody, I have a business matter to discuss with you~”

“I had a feeling this didn’t come without a few strings attached,” Gaddok snarled while looking down into the Oban’s maroon eyes. Offering a hand to shake he continued, “I appreciate your… Timely appearance, but I’m afraid I don’t do Business with people I don’t know.”

“Well,” Mash’al took the man’s hand in greeting and smiled, “I am Mash’al Tahan and if you would be ever so kind as to accompany me to Jatine I can tell you all about me… Then we can get down to business?”

Gaddok looked back at Moishye and the shifter gave a nod. “Looks like I’m off to Jatine… Take care of yourself and Congratulations on finding your daughter,” He gave Sawenah a peck on the cheek and a half hug, “It's been lovely getting to know you… Your father will have the necessary funds to finish the work on your cart.” Returning to the Oban he gave a sigh, “Well, Mister Tahan… After You.”

Mash’al guided the halfling out of the marketplace and back to the main road that led to the palace, “Jatine’s not far… But I won’t make you walk all that way~ You must be tired from your eventful day.” He crooned while flagging down a carriage or sorts and climbing aboard, “We’ll be there before you know it.”
