Artemis snapped out of his daze and turned to Artoirel. "Thank you. I really appreciate anything you can do for me." 'Still, I can't allow too many to get involved in this battle. I can't risk the chance of that witch finding out anything. No matter what, I will save him.' There wasn't much else he could say. Besides, he had no idea how to tell anyone what he was really feeling.

Shaline stood as a steward handed her a bag. "I believe it is time we head back to the school. Maybe one day you can come visit us. Maybe bring Uncle Emmanelaine. I just wish Uncle Haurchefant was still alive." Shaline's ears flattened when she thought about her uncle. She looked over to La'ella who took her hand. "See you next time father." Artoirel nodded and stood as his daughter headed to the door with La'ella who now wore a dress that Shaline had worn when she was younger. "Artemis, you ready?"

Artemis walked over next to Shaline and nodded. "I'm ready when you are Shaline." He turned his attention to Artoirel. "Thank you for everything. I'll be sure to let you know if I need a hand." He wasn't about to turn down anyone wanting to help. Besides, he would be asking for help from people that most likely have been in battle before.

Artoirel nodded. "Rely on my daughter when you need to. She is the House of Fortemps' finest warrior." Shaline smiled and walked out the door. Her ears remained flat as she thought about her late Uncle Haurchefant. Artoirel waited until Shaline left the room with La'ella before he turned to Artemis once more. "Shaline has been through many ordeals on her adventures. But none weigh so much as the one incident she blames herself for. Be there for her. She thinks of her Uncle Haurchefant quite often when she is alone. As her father, I ask that you help her open up. She tends to keep her pains to herself, just like her mother." Shaline walked out of the manor and waited for Artemis when La'ella's grip tightened in worry. "Don't worry little one. I'm just thinking about the past. I'll be ok." Shaline smiled down to La'ella. "And when we get back, we are all going to my house so you can see where you and I are going to live."

Artemis nodded and watched Shaline walk out the door. "Just like me. I'll do what I can for her. I know what it's like to hide your true feelings. You see, I did the exact same thing until I met her." He smiled a little and released a small sigh. "Take care Artoirel." With that, he walked out the door and up to Shaline. "Are you sure you're alright Shaline?"

Shaline looked over and nodded. "Yes. I will be fine. Why don't you come over to my house that way you and La'ella can walk back to your house when you are done." Shaline's ears perked slightly as she smiled. "Hold my hand La'ella so we stay together as we go through. You ready Artemis?"

Artemis smiled and grabbed Shaline's other hand. "You can talk to me about anything Shaline." He turned his attention forward and nodded. "Let's get going. There's a lot to figure out." He wasn't sure what was left to figure out, but he wanted to take her mind off things. The feeling of losing someone was something he knew well. "Lead the way."
