Yuri took a deep breath."It started a year after my parents died. My Uncle was the only living relative of my mother and my father was an only child so he and my aunt took me in when they died. A year later, my uncle started off by just watching me more than he should have. Two years later, he started coming into my room at night. Back then, I didn't realize what he was doing, but he was jacking off while he watched me sleep. When I turned 6, that's when he started forcing me to...do nasty things. I tried to tell my aunt about it, but my uncle denied everything and claimed I was still traumatized from my parents' deaths. It wasn't until I was 7 that he started pushing his thing in my butt. It was that way until I was 16, when I finally ran away from him. Alec kept looking down as Yuri told his story, not sure what to think. He was right, Yuri had been through a lot. "That's horrible. You can't focus on the past Yuri. Now you are here and you have me as a friend. There is nothing for you to worry about now. And I'll be there if you ever want to talk. In time, your heart will figure things out."'What else can I say? I can't even attempt to understand what that must have been like for him. Either way, I will do what I can to keep him safe.'
Yuri shook his head."After so many years, my body longs for something I am refusing to get, yet I can't help looking at guys like I know I should be looking at girls like. And I am scared of it."Yuri curled up his legs again and rested his chin on his knees."I want to accept it, but I can't bring myself to accept this. I just don't know what to do. I'm also scared my uncle will try to find me."

"I'm here to help you Yuri." Alec said, smiling a little. "No matter what happens, I'll be right by your side alright. Someday, you will have to face your fears."'He's so afraid. I can't leave his side.' What else was he supposed to say? Yuri couldn't hide forever. "There will be times when you will have to leave the school. We do go on missions here and you never know where they will take you. There will always be someone to help you Yuri. And if he does show up, we will take him down."
Yuri looked to him. How much did Alec remind him of his best friend. Yuri cracked a smile for the first time in a long while. ."Thanks.....Alec."Yuri felt a little better telling Alec his secret. He then noticed how cute he was. His smile faded and looked away. Why did he have to think that. He didn't want to ruin this friendship."If I can just stay out of Eorzea, I'll be ok. The portal I went through had closed right after I came through, and that was when my uncle was hot on my trail."

Alec smiled and laughed a little. "Anytime my friend." His smile faded a little when Yuri mentioned the portals. He had been through one himself in order to get to the academy. And it wasn't the only one out there. "Portals open up just about everyday. There's no way of knowing where they will lead. You will know exactly where you're going during school missions. And we won't be alone. Teams are usually in groups of three and there is also a mentor that goes along as well. The fun part is not knowing who it is."
Yuri nodded."Right."Yuri knew he needed to relax. He laid back and sighed."Alec...there are times where I feel like I can't help but fall for a guy...My best friend....well former best friend.....in Eorzea found out the hard way. I couldn't help it. Yet I longed for him in a way I knew wasn't right."He looked over to Alec."But how do I just accept this is the way my life is going to be like from now on?"

Alec laid back and stared up at the sky. "I'm guessing that he didn't take too kindly to it." He sighed a little and looked over at Yuri. "I can't answer that Yuri. It won't be easy, but things have a way of working out. You are the only one that can find the answers. Just take things one day at a time."
Yuri shook his head."Not in the slightest. He looked at me like I was a Morbol and took off running. I got a letter a week later from him basically telling me to stay away. But he was a sheltered boy from Gridania. He didn't know about guys liking guys."Yuri looked down to his feet."I guess that experience has kinda left a mark on my conscious. It kinda adds to the confusion."He looked back over to Alec."How did you come to terms with liking guys?"

Alec looked at Yuri with a weird look on his face, having no idea what he was talking about. "I have no idea what a Morbol is, but I'm guessing that it's something people stray away from." When Yuri asked him a question, he turned his attention back to the sky. "I can't really remember the exact details. It is difficult at first. Always wondering how my family would take it. There was nothing indicating that I did like guys. Everyone knew how shy I was around people. Although, once you actually talk to someone and get it out, things start to get a little better. I even had a slight crush on someone back then."
Yuri smiled."Be grateful you don't know what one looks like. And smell like for that matter."Yuri listened to Alec."Well I don't need to worry about the family part. Consider me a true orphan for all that matters. I hope things work out. I'm still confused, but I do feel better."

Alec laughed a little and stretched out. "I did have a crush, but he was more into girls. He liked guys as well, but it was easy to tell that he liked girls more. The poor guy even had a girlfriend at one point. And then he lost her. Ever since then, he hasn't been the same." He stayed quiet for a while and closed his eyes. "Don't worry about it. Everything will be fine."
Yuri looked over to him."Sounds like you are still friends with him. At least you have that. But I know things will be ok. After all...I have you as a friend now."Yuri thought about the boy Alec knew."Sounds like he has had a rough time. I hope things look towards the better for him. I can't imagine loosing the one you love."

Alec sighed and turned back to Yuri. "I wouldn't say that we are friends. We used to be friends, but things have changed a lot. He's not the same person he was back then. Ever since he lost her, he has completely distanced himself from everyone. And now there is a darkness growing inside him. Maybe someone can get through to him one day."
Yuri nodded and then looked up to the sky. Alec was easy to be with. He felt more comfortable with him. He was going to say something when he heard Alec's name being called out. He just sat there quietly, not wanting to interrupt.
