Huntsman nodded, Kendall was right about that point. It wasn't fair, though most victims couldn't really be said to have deserved what happened to them. You learned to get over it or it ate you. Esper's alarm at spotting the car took the man somewhat by surprise. His composure barely faltered but there was some small sense of relief. Now the question was, what could they discern about the car? Through the passenger side window Ethan could see a backpack sitting on the driver's seat. A gym bag lay in the back seat. Her track clothing maybe? If that were the case it helped to paint a picture about her last couple of hours. She attended school, went to practice after, and then drove home. Or at least she had intended to drive home. But why stop here? That questioned lingered. "So her car is here, and it's in the south bound lane... I'm mostly talking out loud here but I'd like to hear what you all think."

Pulling a Wardens issued phone from a sleeve on his arm, Huntsman began to photograph the car while listening to the others. After he got plenty of pictures with regards to the exterior and then interior, he put the phone away and pulled out the evidence bag with the keys. A couple presses through the plastic and the car unlocked. He checked the passenger side first, wanting to get a look in the backpack. As one might expect it was filled with books, papers, and other school supplies. No phone though. Nothing unusual like weapons or drugs either. Nothing had been found at the scene save for a single shell casing so it appeared that she was unarmed. The girl's wallet was in the pack too. His mind ran through a number of possibilities that he would have had to ask back in his detective days. Drugs seemed unlikely due to all her money being in the car; buying alcohol for that matter too. She wasn't armed so a planned altercation seemed unlikely as well. The most obvious answer at present was the stalker. However that left a number of questions. Like both how the stalker knew she'd be here, and why the body was taken? On the first question it was possible that it was a crime of opportunity committed either by the stalker or an unknown party. The second still made very little sense. It could be that the perp didn't intend to kill her and freaked before coming back later to try and clean up. It was also possible that they were unrelated. So many questions still.

One obvious thing left to check. He broke the seal on the evidence bag and signed the action onto the bag's log. Making his way over to the driver's side the man opened the door and leaned in. A moment later the car roared to life as the electric battery powered the engine. A small red light blinked on her dashboard. The words "check engine" appeared next to it. Had she pulled over because her car had broken down? That pointed to a crime of opportunity, perhaps the stalker was unrelated? "Something's wrong with the engine... hang on. Weiss can you come here a minute?" Huntsman popped the hood and walked around to the front. He didn't know that much about cars other than some basic things so he began to check some of the obvious potential problems. Oil level, radiator fluid, transmission fluid... It was very low. Power coursed through the man's hands as the car suddenly became near weightless. Lifting the front clear above his head with one hand he waved Weiss to get closer with the other. "Take a look at the underside? Lemme know if anything is cut or punctured kay?"

((Using your visor you will be able to detect that one of the various lines of tubing connected to the transmission has three small punctures in it.))

Nothing out of the ordinary inside of the car, but it was indeed parked in a weird place for the girl to have suddenly stopped. What makes a girl stop going southbound in Brockton for literally no conceivable reason... and then ends with her death. "Could she have been meeting someone here? ESPer, do you know if she had many friends, maybe saw her with someone who you didn't recognize from school?" Unlikely, he would have probably mentioned it if something like that was optional. Kendall stepped out of the way when Huntsman began taking photos, but his eyes never left the contents of the car even so. No weapons. Not likely to have been coming here to be violent. What he was confused about is exactly where the girl had been heading if this wasn't the final intended location.
Kendall walked around with Huntsman to the drivers seat and watching him turn the car on. Ah, there it was. CFheck engine. "Engine not working properly?" he thought moving back, echoing his superior to himself as he walked to where huntsman needed him.

And then the car lifted up off the ground like it was a 2x4 and Kendall couldn't help but smirk. Besides the fluid being low he had no idea what the issue could have been. He pressed a button at the side of his helmet and his visor lit up like a christmas tree in front of his eyes, noting the low fluid levels, the fact that the car was on made the engine a bit warmer. And then he saw it. "Huntsman, I'm seeing damage to one of the lines connecting to the transmission. Three small punctures. Doesn't look like something that happens by accident. This was planned," he surmised kneeling, feeling safe with Huntsman holding the car up that he wouldn't suddenly drop it. He pointed to the spot he was talking about. Below his feet, the visor saw residue, whichled to longer trail more difficult to see. "She was leaking fluid for a while. Had no idea likely..." he trailed off moving aside and looking to Esper and Jacket, then huntsman. Good thing he had come along after all. Something like that would have been easy to miss.

INDENT While everyone was beginning to through the car, Esper stood back. He had merely shook his head at Weiss's inquiry, but it was becoming evident that Esper was becoming non-verbal, introverted. Huntsman would have been informed of Eli's cognitive disorder. Weiss would likely be confused and Jacket would also know a bit about Eli behind the mask and his needs. Hell, his dorm was an isolation chamber designed to help alleviate symptoms of his disorder. He wanted to be done, he didn't want to deal with the emotional implications of this investigations. He didn't want to tell Derek his girlfriend was dead and had her body snatched by a parahuman. Why wasn't this simple? ******** Tara for dying like this. ******** her and her effective final revenge on Eli. Esper would have his back turned, eyes closed and ignoring the thoughts and feelings of those immediately around him, still searching for anything out of place, but now they were in a residential area. It would be a lot harder to pinpoint, but this was better than thinking about his own problems and ignoring the active investigation at the moment. He was internally cursing his own weakness again.

Jacket was quiet for a short time while they deliberated. Not paying attention in the slightest as she watched they're surroundings, with the excepting of the occasional glance to check on esper. A thought occurred to her after they checked the engine. " Hey Huntsmen...she have a phone on her? Or her bag? What teenager doesn't own a phone these days? " She said calmly. If she had a stalker, generally that included phone calls.

A heavy sigh punctuated the air as Huntsman heard what Kendall had to say. "Looks like this was planned then. Doesn't tell us why, but this speaks to a lack of random chance." More of the pieces had fallen into place, some questions had been answered. Still some of the biggest remained unanswered, like who killed her and why was her body no longer in police custody? He could work with this though, it began to paint a picture of what happened. In all likeliness the stalker had sabotaged the car before going to wait at the cemetery. Why they killed the girl... he wasn't sure. The evidence pointed to the struggle. Still it wasn't nearly enough. Huntsman glanced to Esper, the boy was going inward which meant he was getting overwhelmed.

"I don't like that her phone wasn't among her things or at the crime scene... Jacket and Weiss, take the Jeep and head to Mercy High. Ask around about Tara, and ask the main office if they have any security footage of the parking lot. I'm going to take Esper and head up another angle." The two of them would walk south and pay a visit to the Saito family. He wanted to speak with the parents, try and get a better idea of what was going on. Also, somebody had to tell them the news. It might as well be him, after all he did have some experience with it. Once Kendall was clear of the car, Huntsman would set it back down and return its density to normal. Then he locked it back up and sealed the keys back within the evidence bag. "Don't give officer Weiss too much trouble now Jacket. Esper and I will meet back up with two later." Hopefully the reduction in people would ease the boy's feelings. He also wouldn't need to do much of anything on the walk there, Huntsman had a call to make. As the pair walked southward he dialed Defiant. They needed the girl's phone records and if possible a location on it. [Exit]

Kendall nodded to Huntsman's agreement with his assessment that this was definately intentionally done. This murder was getting more and more conspiratorial. Whoever was responsible was going to have hell to pay if Kendall found out who it was before the others did, that was for damn sure. He noted that Esper was starting to retract inward a little. He didn't know what that meant, but he wasn't going to continue to do anything that might make it worse for him, whatever it was. Maybe something to do with the capes powers? Kendall wouldn't bother him further either way. He spoke instead to Huntsman. "Rules out crime of oppurtunity. Points more towards one of passion, huh?" there was an undeniable gloom in his voice, one of pure sadness. He closed his left eye, feeling itburn a little. The small flicker of light would be well hidden there. He needed to get a handle on himself.

The instruction that he'd be hanging out with Jacket for the time being was a welcome one at the least. He looked to the girl, peeling back his visor with a smile and a nod. He slung the rifle back over his shoulder, giving some parting words to Huntsman. "trouble tends to follow us regardless. COmes with the territory and all that." He made his way back to the car, waiting for Jacket to get into the passenger seat before pressing the button to turn over the engine. He would look to the girl. "Ready to get moving?" he asked charmingly. With no objection, he would turn some tunes on. Something upbeat to take his mind off of the task at hand on their short ride back to the school. [Exit unless stopped.]

___Makoto wandered back into downtown absent a home and a workshop. Her space wouldn't go to waste under the Toybox's watch, but it wasn't hers anymore. For now she parked herself down on a bench on a seemingly random street and plugged one of her diagnostic devices into her left arm. It had been acting up earlier, so no doubt there was something wrong with it, but she didn't have what she needed to retrofit Dragon's creations here, and there wasn't really any good reason to go ripping her own arm off in a back alley. For now she'd have to settle for what adjustments she could manage, and come back for the Undersider shitheads sometime later. Part of her was wondering when the government morons would come harass her for being a cape out in public. Wasn't like she could hide her abilities anyways, or like she'd asked for them. As far as Makoto was concerned, she wasn't a cape. Powers or no, she'd made herself without them. She wasn't some kid, fresh faced and desperate to be a hero. She also wasn't some scumbag who wanted to squeeze resources out of people because she was stronger than them. She was still the same person, wasn't she? The thought echoed through her skull as numbers scrolled across the display in her hand, beckoning a finger to begin tapping away.

INDENT Esper understood the assignment. Jacket and Weiss being sent to the school wasn't a coincidence. It suggested that Huntsman was actively observing Esper's behavior and wasn't going to put him through to much stress. Esper pulled out his phone and typed two words on it, then would show it to Huntsman. 'Thank you.' Esper put his phone away and kept close to Huntsman. All the while, just focusing on the emotions of those around him. The actual investigation wasn't taking its toll on Esper, but his personal connection to it. That was the extra stress he didn't need or want, but was stuck with. Esper followed Huntsman, towards the one place that would be considered worse than the school.

Arriving at the specified location Vincent towered over most of the individuals near him. He stood out like a sore thumb in this crowd. Especially with his appearance... Yet he wouldn't be deterred as he needed a job and soon. Idle hands were the devil's work, and he always made the devil so proud. He entered the building and was instructed on where to go by one of the many secretaries. Reaching the main office he would look to the secretary of it and be instructed to knock firmly then enter a moment after. His knuckles collided with the double wooden doors three times and then he counted to five in his head. The moment the fifth second arrived in his thoughts he opened the doors and closed them behind him. He's eyes peered over to the individual who was in charge and waited for them to instruct him on stepping forward. He knew how this mostly worked... at least he believed he did. He wondered what would be said about his attire as he waited to be called by the boss in charge.

A prim and proper woman wearing a tight fitting suit jacket with matching skirt was sitting at the other end of a desk on the far side of the room. The desk itself was a fancy artistic kind with bending and twisting support structures as well as little concealment. Her legs were crossed for modesty's sake leaving her black heels shining prominently at the ends of her legs. A stern almost librarian esque look peered at vincint from behind a pair of trim designer glasses. "Greetings Vincent, my name is Erika Fletcher and I am Black Moon's executive manager for human resources. Have a seat." Manicured and painted nails pointed to a chair at the front of her desk where he was expected to sit.

Her brown eyes carefully examined the potential recruit that had come before her. Vincent's lack of proper attire was an issue but not one which would disqualify him. Laziness certainly would but a lack of funds would not. "Before we continue you will need to sign this confidentiality agreement. Nothing discussed within this interview may be revealed to outside parties." A stack of papers was slid over to his side of the desk. Within was a lot of legalese about the consequences of breaking the agreement as well as what was covered by it.

Vincent moved towards the desk as indicated by Erika. His crimson eyes took in every detail about her as well as the surrounding area. How many exits there were, blind spots, possible threats, etc. Sitting down in front of her he still appeared massive in size almost to a comical point as he read the papers word by word. Nothing was kept secret from him as he signed the bottom part of the papers then pushed them towards Erika. He didn't bother to introduce himself as she knew the details of his name already. Instead he sat upright with his arms crossed at his chest and gave Erika his full respect with his undivided attention.

Erika checked over the papers to make sure nothing was missing and then deposited them into a drawer underneath her desk. "You were part of the Bundeswehr yes? If you need assistance with getting a visa or permanent resident status we can assist you with that." She seemed to smile though it was quite faint. The woman seemed to be typing some things into her computer, probably pulling their files on him. For about twenty minutes she would ask him very typical interview bullshit, things like "time when you had to work with others" or "what are two of your best traits?" Then she got down to the real questions. "How would you feel about working for clients who are not engaging in legal activity?"

As questions were sent his way he was answering them with short and precise answers. His arms remaining crossed the entire time as he almost looked cartoonish at his size within her chair. He could have sworn there was a slight smile to her face but he also believed this was his eyes playing tricks on him. "I don't really care for citizenship. I'll take whatever makes work easier however." He stated with an impossibly deep voice. "Work it work, I'm a bad person good at doing bad things." He stated bluntly not really caring if she was an undercover officer or something. He knew how to handle himself in many situations.

His answer didn't seem to phase Erika in the slightest. In fact she just typed a few more things and moved on with the interview. "Do you have any issues with the risk of engagements involving parahumans? Your medical expenses would be taken care of course." At this point she was screening him for the real company that he was actually interviewing with. Essentially was he cut out to work under so called supervillains and did he have the kind of fearlessness to engage in fights against his client's enemies even if they had powers. That's what it would take to be a mercenary of Black Gate.
