Melody got the puzzled look again in response. "I suspect the information would go over better coming from you if you're dating someone," Jordan said. He shrugged. "It'd be out of line and pretty damn rude for me to go around gossiping about anyone's junk."

"But... everyone has...," she looked honestly upset about this. Not that she really believes him. "It doesn't make sense because everyone has a reaction to it. Something. Hatred, disgust, questions. I just."
"How can you just be okay with it?" She asked in earnest.

"I mean, don't get me wrong, I was surprised," Jordan said. "But it's -- look, have you had any golem missions into Halloween yet? I'm pretty sure some joker in Life division put a flag on my account or something, because 90% of the time I get into a golem and it's a female golem. But that doesn't change me. I'm still myself inside. That's been the case when weird s**t has happened that changed my body in this world as well. I'm still myself, and I'm still a dude, and I figure that means that it's the mind that makes the difference, not the parts. I might not've understood before I experienced that," he added, a little sheepishly. "But I do now. So honestly? It's none of my business what you've got. I figure you know who you are better than I would."

Melody listened to his explanation and in some weird way, he finally made sense and the look on her face relaxed. "So you're telling me you had other kinds of... parts?" And she air quoted at the last part.

"I've had that experience, yeah." Jordan looked vaguely uncomfortable at the recollection.

Melody sighed, "I honestly don't care all that much. It was just... easier to hide." She shrugged. "That maybe people would be less confused than I feel sometimes."

"It seems like it'd be confusing, maybe," Jordan said, then, "Sorry, I'm forgetting my manners. Would you like some tea or something?"

"Oh yes! I'd love some tea. It seems to be rarer than gold on this island at times."
She considered his comment - sort of a question - kind of a comment - but definitely question-esque.
"It is confusing though. I don't really care what people call me." A pause then a rushed follow up, "I-I mean, not like, mean things. I just mean him, her, why does it matter? I just don't feel comfortable dressing any other way."

"Herbal, black, green? I have a few kinds, I got into it a while back." Jordan moved over to the tiny kitchen area to one side of the apartment and put a teakettle on the hot plate.
He gave her a curious look and said thoughtfully, "It'd matter to me, but if it doesn't matter to you, I guess that's what's important. What you're good with."

"Sweet tea would be nice." Ah, sweet tea, a comfort food - er, drink, honestly. It took her back, even if it was to a place less pleasant than here. "You know. I don't think I've ever been in a situation where I could actually be honest about this."

"Half the sugar bin then, got it." Jordan took a pair of mugs and a box of black tea out of the cabinet along with the aforementioned bin of sugar. "Southern?"
"Really? Thanks for telling me, then." He gave her a quick smile. It was always interesting to know new things about friends and acquaintances, perhaps even more so when those things were not often shared.

"You bet your britches," she said with an intentional southern twang. "Louisiana. You?"

"California, duuude," Jordan said, letting his voice relax into the coastal drawl that it sometimes picked up when he was really relaxed. "Central Coast." The kettle whistled, and he picked it up and poured water into the two mugs, then dropped teabags in to steep.

Melody laughed. Jordan sounded ridiculous, but it was more than that. The whole thing just felt silly now. Like the demon in the darkness that had been staring her down this whole time, in the light of day, had been a coat tossed haphazardly over the back of a chair. It felt silly to have been so afraid. So so afraid. She's still afraid, but not necessarily of him at this point. They shared a common ground it seems.
"I like dresses," she finally commented. "I like pink, purple, flowery, frilly things."

"Not my thing, but you're pulling off the style really well," Jordan said, and leaned on the counter while he waited for the tea to steep. "I wouldn't have guessed."
