"People tend to say very stupid things when they've been drinking, but there is very little accounting for if it is true or not, I happen to know quite a few people who compulsively lie when they drink." He had no idea what Al was texting but didn't seem to concerned about finding out.
"Because he's upset he's being depressing, perhaps have a little heart about it." he narrowed his eyes at the other man whose attitude he didn't much care for at all.
"My story is long and complex and you won't change your mind at the end of it, why should I waste my breath?"

"You might not call it truth serum, but people certainly do." Al replied irritably before checking his phone again as soon as it buzzed. He sighed exasperatedly before finally thrusting the phone on Lawr. "I get the feeling this is still somehow your fault." He didn't even care or consider that there was quite a bit of lewd on his phone in general but at least the text was all he had up right then.
"How can you expect anyone to give a s**t about your side when you wont even share it when asked?"
"Leaving me to see nothing but that s**t, I mean what the ******** happened anyway?"

"Nothing I've ever heard." he said, taking the phone with all the casual east as if he was being handed his own, navigating it with a one-handed familiarity. He read the texts idly before replying to them and proceeding to flicking through Al's pictures.
"There is no short way to summarise. I was with Melvin in an undefined relationship, one which became tenuous when I explained to him it was founded on deception. I met Rodney and he lived with us, but there was initially nothing sexual. Over the course of a year it progressed from tension to chaste kisses with no intention of ever going further, he respected Melvin and I had no intention of leaving him. I will admit I hoped that it would be possible to maintain a polyamorous relationship along the line, however it turned out that Rodney would only ever accept monogamy, I explained I could not do that and therefore would go no further than the limits we had in place. He almost died on a mission, I rescued him and at that point, slipped up. I went further than the bounds of our prior agreement and the only option at that point in time was to remain as monogamous as possible to Rodney as he would not move on and find another relationship, it would end everything for him. Melvin on the other hand was initially deceived, was already unsteady in his feelings for me and I think would seek out another relationship in due course as devastating as that might be to me to witness."
He shook his head grimly. "I made a mistake that destabilised everything."
