The little Cranberry seemed bothered by her frankly spoken revelations and story; Shahar calmly let him relax and absorb the idea. She had all of the time in the world. Or at least all of the time in this evening. Turning her head up and up, she considered the stars out there over their heads, and wondered if any of them belonged to the boy-child at her side. One had to, but there were so many. She turned her head to look at the young man when the long silence fed into a deep sigh. "The Negaverse can be very scary," she agree easily, "It is why I try and warn the younger of your kind when I can. Why I- we are not..." Shahar could not even say they were not all scary. "I am sure there are others and not just me who concern themselves with you on a personal level. And by you, I mean Order. I take my energy mostly from your kind- so many of you think it is 'sparing' a civilian to allow me to drain you instead." It was an amusing touch of irony. "You did not probe too deeply, Cadmus. Had your questions bothered me, I could depart at any point." Shahar had the ability to teleport, after all. "However, if you wish to hug me, I would not say no."

"Ah. Right. Right, right..." Instead of feeling like he had trapped her, Cadmus felt as if he had trapped himself. He felt as if he were toeing a line that could break in two in an instance; a two steps forward, one step back kind of deal. And what was his opinion of Titanite, now that he learned a little more about her?
Neither good nor bad, she was just... a person. A person Cadmus still was scared of, but not enough to wish her death (as he had done with so many others of the Negaverse). "I've heard of some being, like, friends and stuff. I never really got it, but I guess I don't really have to..." He ran a hand through his hair. "It still sounds kinda messed up to me. Draining people for energy. I mean, sure, you can sleep it off, but to do it so much... Then again, it's better members of Order then say, someone's kid... or dad or something..."
His voice cracked a bit, and his freckled face seemed far more embarrassed than usual. He wasn't really expecting her to not say no. Cadmus felt inclined to do so now, even though it was... Yes, it was awkward. He scooted forward and attempted to without comment; draping arms over her as if he were a mannequin feigning human comfort.
"Um... There... there?" he said, a grimace across his face as he patted her shoulder.

"Friends. Lovers. You can still like someone even while differing with their opinions on a certain level. I am coming to equate it with a type of magical politics- in the end, there is a certain commonality to what they want, and many unwilling to see and understand the other. Different viewpoints that work against purposes. Even within one faction, much less the two combined." Her own politics were not easy to compare it to- Egypt had undergone many, many changes since she had last lived there. Governments overthrown (not just one!) and... Maybe it wasn't the most graceful solution, but it was something he might be able to use as a point of reference for her meandering. "It is a chore. A task. I could refuse if I wanted to risk the consequence. In the end, it is better than taking their starseeds, harming no one for more than the inconvenience of a long nap, yes?" That was how she was forced to rationalize it, however, for Shahar would not put the welfare of another over herself. Her, her family, then the rest would come in time, if allowed. Cranberry was scooting closer, though, and patted her shoulder- And Titanite laughed, reaching up with one arm to ruffle his hair. "There, there." she agreed. "You are a good boy, Cadberry." Cadmus. Cranberry. Cadbury Cream Eggs. Excellent name. A+.

If there was an aesop in all of this, the boy was having a hard time discovering it. While he was still toeing the line of a grey area between that of Order and Chaos, his mind still held steadfast to his typical black and white thinking. Cadmus's understanding of Titanite's words didn't go unheeded, just misunderstood. How can anyone be friends and/or lovers if they have differing levels of opinion? Don't they, like, have to agree on most things? Isn't that how it worked?
Maybe he should've paid more attention to Sesame Street as a kid...
And though she ruffled his hair, and though he slapped her hands away, and though he was slightly miffed (only slightly), he didn't feel good. He felt as if life had dumped an innumerable amount of jigsaw pieces in his hands and expected him to fit them together himself. Sure, they say start with the corners, but not when there's thousands of them all shouting in tandem that they're the right one.
"Then you keep doing you," was the best he could surmise. Sure, he may not have understood it, but he didn't have to. For now, he'd accept it. Question it later, but for now, accept it. Cadmus couldn't change her, right? That was a big leap even one he wasn't willing to take. "This is a war, so you gotta do what it takes to survive. I understand that, I totally do, too. Uh-huh. But there's only one thing you gotta stop doing." And it was here the boy wanted to lay down the law. "Stop with the weird nicknames, I've got, like, a thousand of them already!"
Infinities ahhh, sorryyy againnn. we can end this in a post or two if you'd like? i've made you wait long enough, aha;;;

Then you keep doing you, Cadmus told her, and Titanite's smile faded slightly, wilting and wrinkling at the corners before sliding back into place. There was little else she could do. It was all a trap, and she had been caught by the leg while she was still sniffing the cheese. "You are a good boy," she told him, her accent thick. "Far too good for this life. Do not let it ruin you, for in the ruin more hearts as kind as yours will be needed." There was no malice, only a little sadness. When everything was over, when this fight was ended, when the sides had blurred and mushed and broken to pieces and killed each other, kind hearts would be who would rebuild. "Asking me to stop calling you by a nickname is too much," she told him, shaking her head. "After all, if I call you by your name all the time, how will you know when I am being serious? No, little Cadbury, you may choose your nickname, but you are keeping one." He could suffer through it. If the day came she needed her young friend to actually heed her, then she could use his- A pause. Consideration. Friends? Was that what she considered this? How positively novel. She had 'contacts' on the Order side, of course, but would she call many of them friends? Then again, how many of them saw her genuine side so much as young Cadmus here? It was odd... and a bit unsettling to set her mind to. unohime Being able to close one would be great <3 We can open more later for reqs. *innocent*

The boy's smile wilted with her, but unlike Titanite, remained a stark downward curve on his face. "Thanks," he said, dropping his gaze. His heart shook with regret. If only he could grab her wrist and pull her to the side of Order. If only trading sides were as easy and simple as swapping cards on the playground. Simple give and take, barters for what you want and don't want. Why did everything have to be so difficult? Or, more precisely, why did each side have to make it so?
"Just one?" Cadmus said, quirking his head. "Kind of a hard choice because I don't like... any... of them... but! But, but, if you want to keep it up, then fine, call me whatever. Cadbury was, at least, the closest to my name, though." He relinquished his admonishment with a sigh and drop of his shoulders.
"What time is it? I feel like we've been talking for, like, forever," Cadmus said. "I bet you have to get home or something. I can let you go. If you have to," he added, tiptoeing around the matter that he had a bit of a curfew, though he thought himself too old for it.

Decisions were hard. Shahar watched the redhead consider the nicknames she had offered, his face clear in his distaste, his words just as honest. "I am surprised you chose Cadbury instead of Cranberry, since you are so fond of pelting me with them, but you may change your mind at any time." it was a generous offer, she thought. How often did you get to make-your-own nickname? The Captain watched her companion sigh and look almost mildly... was that depression? Resignation? She couldn't quite tell in the darkness, but whatever it was, it was capitulation. On one hand, that was good enough. "I have no idea what time it is," she said honestly. "Does the hand held system not show the hour?" she pursed her lips. "Or do you have a cell phone?" magical senshi cell phone? After a moment, she shook her head. "I am in no hurry," she said after a moment. This... this was good, right? It was something oddly pure. She did not have much of it in her life. "Tell me more about these new Pokey-manz." Yes. This was good. unohime I figure this might be an okay place to fade the rp out? biggrin
