¤ Surtr ¤ ...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...
He watched as the smile cross her lips but the tears only flowed harder from her eyes. It only caused the little fiery man to disappear into the air. This wasn't what he wish. He didn't want her to experience pain but if he stopped her he would only make it harder for her to move on. What was he to do? If he stopped her he could possibly comfort her but that would likely make it harder for her to get over him. If he didn't stop her she would remain in pain and it could be possible she wouldn't get over it.
Time seemed to slow as his mind raced faster and faster. Adrenaline was rushing through his veins he had to decide. As she walked to the exit his fingers interlaced around his cup. He downed the drink before standing and cutting her off. "I'll leave...." Was all he whispered before slipping through the door and flying off into the snow storm determined to retreat to a location where she would not follow.
...and to the dust we shall return...

Kami Sylvester In a split second, she was after him. "Surtr! Down Now!" She started descending down into a wooded area. She refused to keep letting things slide. It was address it now or it was going to keep eating away at her insides. It was going to keep creating pain and sorrow from them both. The wound was going to keep opening and bleeding.
Once she was on the ground, she waited patience to see if he would continue to run or come down and talk to her.

¤ Surtr ¤ ...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...
Surtr heard her cry and sighed his wings shifting and banked left following Kami. He then turn and descended into the clearing quickly folding his wings and looked upon her silent in his words and standing stoic it being obvious she had something to say and Surtr would allow her to get it off her chest. A slight wind blew his hair about a few flakes of snow catching in them and his plumage littering him with the snow flakes. He stood waiting.

Kami Sylvester Looking into his lavender eyes, she whispered, "I just don't understand. One moment you're shutting me out and the next you are letting me relive all the good memories. I care for you. I always have and always will. You betrayed me and I pushed you away. I pushed you away because I thought I meant more to you than just some fling. As I told you, I wasn't looking to change you, but I thought you'd have some decency. Not only did you sleep with her, she had your child. The child stings more than you sleeping with her."
Taking a deep breath from her speech and laying it all out to clear the air. "All I want to do is heal Surtr. I almost don't care if things don't go back to the way they used to be. I just want to be able to enjoy your company and not feel like my insides are being worn apart." Kami was warm from the emotional toll that was being taken. All she wanted was comfort and a mended spirit.

¤ Surtr ¤ ...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...
As she spoke Surtr sighed, she saw things her way as he knew she would while he saw things hers. It was something that happened every time this sort of event occurred. Surtr watched her and allowed her to finish. Once she was done he looked to her stepping forward the ground searing a bit beneath his step. "I did not betray you. I am that I am.... words I told you the first night and warned you again and again. I said I was the wind and blew where I pleased..... I said I was a bird that cannot be caged. I told you I could not be changed and yet you tried to and feel pain when I did exactly as we both knew I would." Surtr said looking to her watching her eyes as he spoke.
His eyes conveyed grief now, obviously saddened that she experienced such pain and yet at the same time he was resolute. "I am what I am....." He said in soft tone his words breaking on him as he saw her in such pain. It was obviously causing him agony to see this spark fluttering as if about to go out. To put such work into something to see it failing wounded him more than he would openly admit. As she spoke of wanting to heal he looked to her his eyes soft. "Then heal.......I will not impede you any longer." He said taking a step back from her his warmth leaving her vicinity with his withdrawal. "......I am what I am..." He whispered in pain before his powerful wings flapped sending the archmage soaring into the sky a single feather fluttering down landing upon Kamis shoulder as Surtr disappeared.

Kami Sylvester Having had the feather fall on her shoulder, the young kept it. Regardless of everything she held a soft spot for him. Kami was going to win him over again. She had to, but it was going to take time on her part to first heal, and then push pass his walls again. She knew he cared as well for the pain he felt seeing her hurt showed. After spending a few months away from the college and the library, the young mage needed to get back into the swing of things. She'd been spending her time in the shop working. Something she had given up to become strong, but she was there to heal. Have some down time and do the thing she loves the most; making clothing. The one thing she did that made her smile was she took the feather that had landed on her shoulder and turned it into a headband. Today she was going to the college to catch up on her studies. She was sure her professors would ask were she had been. Getting dressed, she loved this gown. It was one of her latest creations while she was healing. The corset embodied her style. Putting her hair into this elegant updo, she placed on the black feather head band and was off. Entering the college it felt like home. She'd missed the place in her absence. Being surrounded by her professors, she smiled. They had books and things to discuss with her. She walked through the halls, and talked with them. She had lectures and reading list. They even wanted to see what unique spell she could conqueror next. The young mage was all smiles.

¤ Surtr ¤ ...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...
Surtr had left. He flew away, removing himself from the equation. Taking away an extraneous variable so that the problem could be solved. A month had passed since that day and Surtr wandered the halls of the college pondering his next move. He no longer taught classes, and with the college elder he wasn't needed here. Whispers from every corner of the globe had spoken of a great many mysteries resurfacing after centuries and thousands of years of silence. Surtr surmised that would be how he could best serve his kingdom. To go and discover these secrets and protect his people by preventing them from falling into the wrong hands.
Though those thoughts fled from his mind at the sight of her. He hadn't seen her in a little over a month and here she was beaming through the halls illuminating the very floors she walked with her presence alone. It brought a soft smile to his face to see her in such high spirits. He continued to stride by deciding he would not pull her from her professors and allow her to bask in their attention without Surtr stealing it away.

Kami Sylvester Having gathered her lessons and assigned reading, she was making plans to relax in the library. Walking through the halls, she was looking over some spells she thought she could potentially learn. She had no clue that Surtr was present being wrapped up in her mentors. Rounding the corner she was a few feet from exiting the building and heading to the library. Putting her papers into her bag so they wouldn't be damaged, she made her way to the door of the college.

¤ Surtr ¤ ...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...
A playful smile danced across his lips watching her pass him unaware of his presence. Good she was so focused on what was present that she paid no mind to him or anything around her. The tunnel vision she had allowed Surtr to stride by and walk out through a side door. He would leave this place and allow the young mage to focus free of his distraction. The flame had been reignited and it burnt brightly once more. He was no longer needed to fan or tend to it. It could stand on its own and consume at its leisure. Upon leaving the college the icy kiss of the snow gently met his cheeks and he smirked softly at its presence. Such a wonderful day.
His monstrous wings unfurled and with one powerful flap he was gown in a whirlwind of ice and fire. He was off to the hot springs intending to relax a bit before his next journey would begin. Whispers had been heard and Surtr was helpless to their call. He would soon be exploring at his hearts content intending to further unravel the mysteries of the world.

Kami Sylvester Leaving the building, she would end up at the library. Having a list of things to read, she wanted no distractions.
Going through the stacks, she found every book she needed. Going all the way to the back of the library, she sat down and organized her reading. She was trying to calculate her next move. What spell she was going to try and master? What new things were there for the battle mage to conqueror? The door of possibilities was open again as she tended to her reading.

¤ Surtr ¤ ...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...
After finishing his dip in the hot spring Surtr rose and promptly left. He felt something a bit off about the outskirts and decided he would venture out for some peace and quiet. He reach the edge of the hot springs and unfurled his wings before taking off into the night sky.
Once out at the edge he landed with a sigh stretching his body a bit as the flakes nearby gently kissed his form with their icy touch. Surtr smirked at it as he began to walk through the snow seemingly unaffected by its howling and freezing touch. A soft smile found itself upon his visage as he continued to peer out into the night, a brilliant light display given off by the aurora borealis over head lit his way.

Kami Sylvester Having finished her studies, she refreshed her books. Putting on her fur coat, she was out the door of the grand library. Kami didn't know why, but she was just wondering around the outskirts of Karst. She didn't feel like going to the brothel and she didn't want to go home either.
As she wondered, it seemed the stars was her guide. The snow flakes landed in her blue hair and the cold kissed her cheeks making them a rosy pink. Soon she spotted someone she hadn't seen in a moment. Without startling him, she pat his wings. The same wings that her feather headband come from. "Why am I not surprised to find you here? You seemed to be everywhere." She mused.

¤ Surtr ¤ ...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...
As a hand met the back of his wing it tucked in tighter withdrawing from touch as the archmage turned slowly to meet her. "It is my job unfortunately. Though soon enough I shall be on leave and thus out of you hair." He said with a smirk before blowing gently to free out the snowflakes from her hair finishing off the metaphor successfully. He looked to her with a soft smile across his lips. "It seems you have been quite busy yourself. I surmise the professors are pleased to see you back." He said taking a step aside and giving he some space along his path.
He swept his hand out and the snow in front of the two melted creating a nice path for them to walk. "You're welcome to join if you care to..." He said beginning to walk without waiting to see if she would join him. Surtr was going at a slow pace though the young mage would easily be able to catch up if she so wished.

Kami Sylvester Chuckling at his words, Kami shook her head. "You are not a bother to me. Remember I do enjoy your presence a great deal." A beautiful smile graced her face when her blow the snow from her hair. It was as if a warmth spread through her. "I have been busy. I have been trying to figure out what to do next. Nothing is coming to me right now, but I am sure with a few more classes and reading, I'll figure out something."
Taking him up on his offer, the young mage walked with him. She was without a doubt happy to be with him again and not feel such pain of the past. She moved pasted it and was ready to start a new. Yes she knew that Surtr wasn't going to let her in again and she was fine with that. In her mind thought, it wouldn't hurt to try again or just get back to some what caring about each other. This time though, she expected nothing of him because she learned that last time expecting anything would get her hurt. "So what has life been like for you lately beside all the adventures and traveling now that you are no longer king?"

¤ Surtr ¤ ...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...
"I'm sure you will find something soon enough. A mind as bright as yours never remains perplexed for long." He said glancing to her as the two walked. It seemed she had gotten past whatever pain she felt before. That or she was at least far better at hiding it now. The young mage seemed brighter now burning brighter than before it was good for Surtr to see such a thing it pleased him.
She questioned his life and it brought out a chuckle. "That same. Looking over Karst and its people, inspecting new paths of magic in my free time. The adventure suits me better than a crown ever did." He said looking to her with a small smirk. "Though I'll admit clothes are something I miss from time to time." He said making light of the changed in appearance he had undergone. He had convinced the people of Karst it was a curse because of the magic he used but in reality this was his true form. This was what he as a Faye looked like. Though they needn't know that. "What of you? Outside of your studies what is next for the great Kami?" Surtr said his tone innocent but perhaps there was a bit of teasing in there somewhere. A remnant of Surtr from the past.
