Peyton winced as Mimi cane crashing into the room, half tempted to go help the poor thing up, but she bounced back quick and shouted a greeting. With an amused chuckle Peyton waved back, then patted the seat beside her on the opposite side of Kai.
Jordan got up to do his thing, more Subs had started to filter in, and Peyton had just started to relax when Kai spoke up beside her, summoning his fork trident. Reaching up to lay her much smaller hand on his gain, Peyton eased his hand down. "That would fall under my jurisdiction. My weapons when I started were very small. But it's not the size of the weapon, it's how you wield it."
In a much softer voice. "We don't summon inside." It wasn't chastising, merely informative.

Mimi turned her head at the voice, beaming when she saw who it was. "oooh thank goodness. Arigatou Ace-san!!" In her rush she hadn't realize she only had one pigtail tied, and now took that extra 5 minutes to smooth out her hair and make it not look like a chicken had domesticated it.
She beamed back at Kai, waved again, and started to take in her surroundings... At least until Kai pulled out his weapon, at which point there was an audibly loud squeal, the little trainee beside the bigger trainee in 0 SECONDS FLAT, her eyes positively sparkling.
"Oh my goodness, you found Ariel's fork!!!" she whispered with pure unadulterated adoration.

Malkam didn't know who Simon-sensei was, but looked around the room trying to find someone who was making an its me amount of eye contact.
At the encouragement to get more food, he did. It was a change of pace from fancy vegan hors d'oeuvres, but it wasn't a hamburger either.
His drink was....chilli...flavor?
But great, guns.
He didn't smile, stuck in an eternally suspicious late-teen sulk, but he did fill his cheeks with california rolls.

Ember spent a great deal of time texting back and forth with Allen, saying absolutely--literally-- nothing of worth. Emojis were blessed.
Meanwhile, he sat in a chair, boots propped up on a nearby chair, completely at ease.
Andy had been a Sun Hunter for some time by this point, and as such did not need one of Peyton's handy little "Allan Translation" cards - he still found it grating, but less so as time went on. It was hard to be twitchy at their genki leader, after all. He found a seat quietly and listened - as he'd figured, both his girlfriend and brother spoke up (helpful sorts, they were, and he'd benefited greatly under their care), but so did a few others. Survival training? That could be very useful..Combat training's good for that too, but I've pulled some stupid s**t accidentally...maybe I'll join this Otto guy for some lessons.
There was no point in standing or introducing himself, he had no specialties to share, unless they wanted to talk about say...Mexican food. Authentic, like Tia Rosa used to make for them, because he basically used her recipes. Of course, sometimes it didn't work out so well...but he'd not had a violently awful episode like the one in the spare kitchen in months!
Speaking of comestibles, there was quite the spread of Asiatic foods lain out, so the perpetually hungry youth got his lanky legs under himself to get a plate of whatever looked good (or spicy). Oddly flavored single-serving tea joined his impromptu meal before he returned to his spot to continue listening. And eating. Om nom nom.

Talk about meetings had reached the small hunters ears, his conversations with Jordan and Shu lingering in the back of his head as he slipped into the meeting. He would stand out right away as he was still sporting his mist coat, but he figured it would be a good idea to see what other divisions offered right? Since he wasn't even sure if he qualified to be a Mist.
Even as he snuck in he was baffled to see a room that looked more like it came out of Toonami then a military base. This was FAR more exciting then his sparsely decorated room. Though the hand made wood desk was a nice touch and seemed to have been made custom.
More importantly; snacks.
Roland slipped over to the treats quickly filling his coat pockets with random candies before digging into a pack of Strawberry pocky.

Allan spent texted a few "autocorrect" emoji back before giving Ember a huge thumbs up. Somehow, in the time span between the speeches he had managed to refill everyone's drinks and give Roland a second box of Pocky to bring home.
He was now sitting in his usual spot post Kai's question and just nodded sagely. "First you need to strengthen your kokoro," he pointed towards his chest, "and then you will will strengthen yourself. True power comes from within!"
A little beeper went off, and the Sun lead stood up, turning off his Pikachu watch. "All right genin, chuunin, and jounin ninja, today your special training test begins! Only the strongest will survive to the end, and if you succeed, Allan-san will be very proud of you, but he will also be proud of you if you don't succeed too! Now to the closet!"
What the Sun lead meant was the literal closet stationed behind him. He did a perfect backwards flip, all without hitting the ceiling or walls, and then opened the door and jumped into the portal just waiting there. And of course, for anyone else who followed, while they were falling through the portal, they would be treated with Allan belting one of the Naruto opening songs at them through the mess.
They would arrive on a very intricately laid out obstacle course. It seemed someone, or someones, had put an excessive amount of time into the layout, it even had a long mud path and a ball pit.
"Attention all ninjas!" Allan shouted, voice loud enough to carry through the arrival zone, a sandbox of sorts that allowed for some cushy portal falls. "Your goal is to reach the end! Fight to do your best! Ganbatte and dattebayo!"
There was a very very obvious line that said start line, and then a line on the other side of the large circular obstacle course that said finish line, both with Sun Hunters holding a stopwatch, recording their times.

For every miss, he will counter attack with -10 damage, otherwise he just spends the time blocking with a replica appearance of your character's weapon (no damage done) and preventing you from leaving the training course to the exit. Once you've hit successfully twice he'll let you go. The time spent on this is the number of turns you took x5 seconds.

Otto's curse returns.
Kim bounced into the room, eyes sparkling as she looked around. "Oh I miss so many meetings it is nice to be able to show up again... OTTO!" She started laughing and headed over to Otto. "Hey! Remember me?" Just to make sure he did, she pulled out her cell phone, turned around snapping a selfie with him."
She grinned again and then flipped through the pictures and showed the one with the horseman. "It sure has been a long time, and I am glad to see you again." She smiled warmly and then bounced across the room.
The meeting had moved outside to what appeared to be a obstacle course, and the dainty Sun was practically bouncing on her toes as she waited near the starting line for Allan to address them. Then she was turning on her heel to regard her merry band of trainees. "Alright guys. Do your best, obviously you wanna get a good time, but if you don't it's alright. Have fun, learn your strengths, learn your weaknesses, and we'll go from there, ya?"
She grinned at them, then gave a last little bounce, a salute, and was off across the starting line, sprinting straight for the pit of shadowlings and the rope that hung suspended over it. As she reached the edge of the pit she jumped, launching herself forward to grab the thing so she could swing across to the other side.
The pit cleared, next up was a sand bag carry, and it looked as though the leads had spiced things up a bit, at least for the full hunters among them. Not only was their sand bag mightily hefty, but the field was full of shocking runic daggers, and Simon was standing on the sidelines...gun in hand. She gave him a very brief glance as she skidded to a stop beside her sandbag.
Watching her lift the thing was probably fairly comical. At 200lbs, it was officially twice her own weight, and was quite a bit bigger as well. Still, she was a lot stronger than she looked, and though it took a a bit of effort and shifting about to find an acceptable means to carry it, she picked it up with only slight difficulty. Really, it wasn't the weight of the thing, it was how bulky it was in her small arms. It made running awkward, and obscured her view of the ground.
As a result, she managed to shock herself a number of times, her feet knocking into the daggers that were sicking up in the ground. The first few times pulled startled yelps from her lips, but it was the bullets that really hurt. They, ultimately, were what pushed her to run all the faster.
Not what Peyton had been expecting, but all the same. She bounced back on her heel, small hands coming up as she summoned her daggers, and she lunged forward to take a heavy hitting slash at the Sun lead.
Allan's response was a mix of camp counselor and mall karate instructor, and Kai stared back at him before touching his chest. While it lacked the kind of mysticism that might come from a old Chinese man atop a mountain, he guessed in the world of magic it might be something. Sadly, he would have to deal with no weapon steroids.
Of the few times he took a portal, they had all been through a lighthouse. He had no idea they kept them in their closets, and stared a moment as everyone filed into the closet one by one. Confused but riding the wave, he followed after Peyton and fell through to some unusual song. A lot of it didn't make sense - but considering the flashcards, not a lot made sense.
Arriving through a portal had certain expectations that something amazing would be at the other end, but when he saw a obstacle course, he felt cheated. Obstacles courses? Any military school had one of these, and a few playgrounds even.
Follow through, he was not sent to the other courses but directed by rank to a much smaller and clearly less strenuous course. The first was a ball pit that made him think of a kids game center, and he grabbed the rope with the same kind of lust for life as a wet piece of bread. He wasn't graceful or did swinging, and the bright colored balls somehow sapped any ideas of even being successful being cool. So when he pushed but didn't manage to get to the other side, he let go and stood in the pit before stepping out.
He wanted back with his flashcards, but as he looked at the mud course, he was glad that at least his sneaks were being sparred.

Rope Swing --
Going through a portal even when you knew what you were doing wasn't always the most pleasant thing. Being shuffled into the portal that you had no idea was there was dramatically more so. Some of the more savvy hunters used to Deus shenanigans managed to land on their feet but poor Cami who had no idea what to expect hit the sand a**-first.
Wide eyes took in the obstacle course and she swore before stripping off the giant sweater she'd been wearing to leave her in a tank top and sports bra (they were the only kind that fit right now). Scraping her short hair back into a bun she dutifully lined up at the start and took a deep breath before running forward.
The rope swing was nothing at all. She'd grown up on an island where rope swings were just something you had every day to play with. Without even having to think about it much she hugged her knees and flew across the ball pit, stumbling only a little bit on the other side, a grin wide on her face. "Still got it!"

Bean Bag Carry --
Feeling pretty good about herself the brunette dashed up to the line where the bags were labelled according to status. Everyone had made it clear that the kids (i.e. her) were not to do anything overly taxing which meant she was going to be carrying a beanbag across a field of water balloons.
Scooping the bag onto her back she squinted to look across the field of balloons. The obstacle was to pop none of them while getting across and that seemed impossible. Time was ticking away and the longer she took to complete it, the worse growth her kokoro would get. Whatever the heck that was!!
Shaking her head to clear it the teen shouldered her way across the field, popping only seven balloons as she went and dousing her leggings in water. A nagging voice in the back of her head that sounded oddly like Caroline was quite glad that she'd chosen not to wear something white today.
Once across the field she dumped her bag and moved on to the final obstacle.
