"No, of course not," she responded quickly, giving him a look that went really? Bob might have been a talking cat, but he was still a cat.
Cats had less ways of making money than teenage girls who would rather volunteer instead.
"Jumping fences isn't preferred, but I'll make sure to not wear any of my good tights." Rory would remain in her dresses though, because she liked the way they looked. "And my good shoes." For climbing anyway.
"Good I - " Rory stopped short, fork clattering back into the bowl when she dropped it. Her green eyes were wide and anything she'd thought of saying had become stuck in her throat.
"That's not - I don't..." She shook her head, focusing on her salad that she stabbed angrily at when she picked up her fork. "I don't know what you're talking about."
A+ defense Rory.

"Mmmhm."
He wasn't paying attention to her expression change, but from the stutter and utensil clatter, it was easy to tell that he'd ruffled some figurative feathers. Bob knew that being a senshi came with responsibilities, but going out every night to fight the other forces was a more dangerous game than most of the kiddos realized. Most never realized it until it was too late.
A bitter, horrible thought.
One lip curled up into a momentary snarl before smoothing itself back out, the cat clearly not pleased with being lied to. He didn't argue, however - it was the same old story, same old song and dance. Bob knew he was getting himself too attached to another little squirt... so this time, he'd be more mindful of what was going on in her life, including the dark spots expertly hidden by leggings and long sleeved undershirts.
"Just nudge me over when you're ready for bed. You know the drill, sweetheart."
With that dismissive comment, he closed his eyes and settled in for a proper, comfy nap. He'd discuss the markings on her pale, undernourished body at a later point in time - he was in too much of a jovial mood to start that argument today.

Bob might not have been looking at her, but Rory found it difficult to look anywhere but at the large cat that sprawled across the top of her bed. She caught sight of the curling snarl and her body tensed, everything about the girl suddenly defensive. When he didn't push, she looked at him skeptically, unsure of what it meant or if she would be doomed with a lecture at a later time.
"Yeah," she said, more clipped than usual. "Okay."
Part of her was grateful to be spared the lecture, especially since she insisted that she was fine. It was apart of being something bigger and if Bob didn't get that....
She would worry about it later. Instead, the teen slid off her bed, bowl in hand, and disappeared from her room as a cat napped on her bed. Being in the same room while her shoulders were tight with defensive tendencies wouldn't be good, so she resigned to finishing her dinner elsewhere.
