Alexei laughed, soft but rich. He didn't laugh often; humor wasn't really a part of his daily life, but when it came from him he almost sounded like he was truly relaxed.
"I suppose I can manage that. Cooking for two is no different than cooking for one. When I have time, I can manage that. Though, I must confess. I have a soft spot for Chinese food. It's not healthy, but. Don't be surprised. We all have our vices."
He began to clean up the food that had finished, meticulous and careful not to spill any on his desk.
"You do not ask for much," he noted. "It makes it easy to want to keep your company. I think, perhaps, I will enjoy knowing you."
At the very least, it was something different. A break from monotony.
Alexei was not always the nicest, or the easiest person to get to know, and while it wasn't easy to just drop walls and soften up, it was easy to be lower his defenses--at least a little--around Shiloh.
It was a start, and more of an effort than he'd made in awhile.

For a brief moment, Shiloh’s heart stopped. Alexei, for all his stern gazes and no-nonsense approach to things, had such a wonderful laugh. It reminded Shiloh of those chocolates that one would eat and it was indescribably smooth, and none other could match it. Something so sweet and low that he was certain nothing could ruin his night after hearing such things.
“I haven’t had Chinese in a long, long time, so if we would like to have something like that one of these nights, I would hardly complain. You could even tell me your favorite places, and I can stop by and pick some up so that when it’s time to eat, it’s still hot and ready.” His hands, too, went to carefully went about to clean up his mess. Almost instantly he slipped back into work mode, and gently pulled up the trash-filled bin and tied it away neatly, holding it into his hand as he stood up.
“Thank you. It’s nice to know that I’m wanted… It’s not a common thing I feel, so I do, truly, appreciate it, sir.” It took a moment before he was up at the door again, prepared to go back to work, but hesitating… He really didn’t want to leave, not just yet.
“And thank you again, for dinner. Let me know when you’d like to share lunch again! I’ll try to stop by each night when I can for at least a little hello. And you can feel free to talk to me if you want to… I would appreciate that too! Ah… But it’s time to go back to work…”

A faint, fond smile lingered on Alexei's face and he nodded as he leaned back into his seat once more. He had more than enough work to do, so it wasn't like he could argue that they hadn't spent enough time together.
"All right," he nodded. "Thank you for the company. I'm sure I'll see you again, very soon. You take care of yourself, Shiloh."
With one last sigh, he moved to readjust the things on his desk before he forced himself to settle back into work.
