Laurel found it within himself to laugh off his mistake, but he still felt a bit flabbergasted with himself. Was he really that strong? He looked to his arm, gave it a flex, and shrugged to himself. He'd have to be more careful next time.
"Oh, good!" He chimed, pausing just a bit after LuLu and waving to the girl. "Hi! We were just playing with Spot a minute ago! Did he find the stick I threw? It went real far!"

The girl looked up at the two of them as she rose from kneeling. "The stinker was just looking for more attention, huh?" She motioned to the pup with a smile and continued, "I looked away from him for only a minute and then he was gone! Thank you so much for keeping him entertained while I was looking for him!" The girl held out a hand, "I am Rebecca."
As she moved in closer, Spot busied himself with trying to chew at the raevans' ribbons again. Rebecca snorted, "About time we started heading home. I had been searching around here for the past hour. I am sure Spot is ready for dinner." Just as she started to walk away she added, "We come here every day around 3pm. Come say hi again." Spot gave one last bark and a wag of his tail.
As the human retreated with her puppy in tow, LuLu waved goodbye. The rabbit turned to the cheetah and gave him a thumbs up, "Nevermind before. That was a great throw Laurel!"

"Aw, he ran off on his own?" Laurel gawked, giving Spot a quick disapproving look. What a naughty pup, scaring his owner like that! It was good that he and LuLu had found him, otherwise Rebecca would have never found him! Hopefully Spot was thankful for that.
"Really? Okay! See you around!" He cheered, clasping his hands together in excitement. He'd have to tell Oliver all about this so he could come back and play fetch again! He grinned, paid the pair a wave goodbye, and turned to LuLu.
"Yeah, I guess so! It got Spot back to his owner safe and sound!" He said, nodding. "But, uh, since they had to go home, do you want to hang around the park some more? I don't have to go anywhere until my dad calls me."

LuLu's wings flapped against her back as she replied, "Of course." The sun was just beginning to set so the two could share each other's company for a bit longer. She started floating toward the pet park's exit and continued, "Are there any other places you like going to?"
She pointed towards a lake near the pet area. "I enjoy watching the ducks over there sometimes."

"Uhm, I'm not sure." Laurel admitted, a brief sheepish look crossing his features. "I was kinda hoping you knew more cool places?"
His gaze drifted over toward the ducks as LuLu pointed them out. Was that the same lake as last time? He squinted at it and, eventually, laughed.
"Ducks are pretty weird. Don't they know the water's cold?" He mused, shaking his head. "... They are pretty neat, though. I like how shiny their feathers are."

The rabbit smiled and nodded. They would enjoy the remaining daylight with the ducks today. She made a mental note show him the botanical garden at the other side of the park another time. "I know of a few other spots. We can see them together when we meet again," Lu continued, "Will you be here next week at the same time? We can say hello to Spot again, too."LuLu countered Laurel, "Feathers keep them warm, Silly. They can puff out like a big sweater." The sigel puffed out her cheeks to emphasize her words. "Their feather are pretty interesting. Yours are very interesting, too" She pointed to the inky black feathers dangling from one of his skeletal wings.

"Uhhh, maybe?" Laurel replied, his head rolling back in thought. Maybe his dad wouldn't mind coming back to work at the cafe next week so he could hang out here again? He pursed his lips and nodded slowly. "I'll see if my dad can drive me back next week! Do you want to meet at the dog park again?"
Then, his mouth pulled open wide and paused. Puff out? Like a big sweater? The cheetah looked positively flabbergasted and, giving his shoulders a quick flex, looked curiously at his wings. Could he do that? It would be so much easier for him to stay warm if he could! His brows knitted in thought, before LuLu called his attention back.
"Yeah, they're pretty cool!" He agreed, throwing an arm out to poke at LuLu's feathers. "But not as pretty as yours! They're blue, like the sky!"

LuLu nodded, "We can start there." The rabbit watched as his wings tensed and give a quick flick. His sparse feathers swayed with the movement. Her own bone wings flapped against her back in response. The sigel flashed Laurel a smile at his comment. "They have been with me a long time." Her hand move up towards her hair to twirl one of the feathers between her fingers. Suddenly, a thought struck her. She inquired, "Would you like one?"

Once again, Laurel's mouth dropped down in shock, before curling up into a grin.
"Really?" He gasped, clasping his hands in excitement. "Are you sure? They're really pretty, and if you've had them a long time, I don't-"
He cut himself short, as an idea of his own had popped into his head. He reached for one of his wings, grasped onto a feather, and plucked it off with only a wince. Then, he offered it to LuLu.
"For one of yours?" He asked.

LuLu's eyes went wide as Laurel offered her one of his freshly harvested feathers. A soft 'oooh' escaped her lips. "Of course." The sigel took a moment to unravel a blue and white banded feather from her pleated tresses. She held it out to the cheetah while her other hand reached to take his gift. LuLu easily slipped the new black feather into place. It sat neatly within one of her braids and stood out in stark contrast to her other feathers. The black was almost iridescent against the other colors. She slid her fingers along it one more time and emitted a pleased hum. "Wonderful." She then looked up at Laurel. "Do you need help putting yours on?" She pointed to his head and was expecting her feather to find its new home in his hair, too.

Laurel's ears twitched with excitement as they made their exchange and took a moment to admire LuLu's feather up close. It was such a pretty shade a blue, he almost wondered if it really had fallen down from the sky. However, now there was the question of how he was going to keep such a special feather safe.
His first instinct was to replace the feather he'd plucked off his wing with the new one, but there didn't seem to be a secure way to stick it on. He pouted, a bit disappointed, and turned his gaze to LuLu. The sight of his feather neatly nestled in his hair brought his grin right back out again.
"Woooow! My feather looks even better on you than it did on me!" He exclaimed, twirling LuLu's feather in his hand and running a hand through his hair. "Uh... I don't have long hair like you do. Do you think you can find a place for it?"

The rabbit accepted Laurel's compliment with a small bow and a click of her wings. LuLu's index finger then wagged in the air to motion the boy closer. "Not a problem." Once he was close enough, her hands went to work. She sunk her fingers into his scarlet hair and raked through it from scalp to tip. Lu repeated the sweeping motion a few times to smooth out any tangles that stood in her way. Afterward, her hands worked deftly to wind one of his short locks into a small, thin braid. It became obvious that the sigel had years of experience under her belt from styling her own hair. LuLu then moved onto the final step. She took the feather from Laurel and wove it through the loops of the braid until it was secured in place. The rabbit eyed her work and gave a prideful huff. "Done. Just be gentle with it."

As LuLu went about styling his hair, Laurel couldn't help but let out a content purr. It was a nice feeling, sort of like petting, only with more of a pull to it. He wouldn't say it, but he almost didn't want her to stop.
When she was done, he raised a hand up and curiously stroked the braid she'd made with his fingers. Then, he traced up toward where the feather sat and beamed. He'd have to make sure this stayed in place until he could find a mirror! He couldn't wait to see how awesome he looked!
"Thank you, LuLu!" He cheered, reaching out to give her a quick hug. "I can't wait to show my dad and tell him all about today! ... Oh, wait!"
He looked down to his sweater pocket and dug around for his cellphone. Once retrieved, he swiped it open and pointed to it.
"Do you have a cellphone number? So I can call you if I can meet you next week?" He asked.

LuLu accepted the hug without missing a beat and gave the boy a pat on the back before they parted. "Any time Laurel. It looks good." She watched the frei curiously as he fumbled for his cell. She waited until it was retrieved from the confines of his pockets, then the rabbit listed off the digits to her number slowly so Laurel could enter them into his phone. "Looking forward to our next meeting." The last sliver of sun was beginning to disappear behind the tree line. The sigel waved to him as she started to depart.

Laurel beamed and eagerly tapped LuLu's number into his phone, before blinking as a message from Oliver appeared. Where was he? Did he want to go home? The frei made a face and glanced up to LuLu. Oh, wow! It was getting late! He pursed his lips, nodded, and waved.
"Bye LuLu! I had a lot of fun today!" He exclaimed, turning toward the exit of the park. "I'll call you soon! Take care!"
He waited until he was sure that LuLu was gone and made a beeline for where his father was waiting. He couldn't wait to tell him all about his day and show off his new feather! shushida I think we're good here! Let me know if you want to set something else up between them in the future! 8D
