He felt completely out of his element, which wasn’t something that happened often. He was used to always being prepared, always ready, nothing really surprising him. But this was different because there was a pretty girl giving him cookies. Cookies that had been meant for him. Which meant she thought about him prior to going out and looking for him in a huge city where they might not have even crossed paths. And even though he saw her, he didn’t have to power up, but he did.
"Yeah, we can sit," he agreed, trying to flash her another silly grin to feel a little more normal again. She was a negaverse senshi, after all. He didn’t have any reason to dislike her but he knew how other people might view this as fraternizing with the enemy.
It was incredibly stupid to think of it that way, but then again, people were stupid creatures.
"There’s actually a little garden behind this building. One of those urban ones, but I think I saw a bench," he explained, jabbing his thumb behind him where he’d come from before startling her. "Or if you’d rather the roof or something," he added, wanting to make sure she had her different options. "Lead the way. I’m okay with anything. Whatever you’re comfortable with."

Hydra tried not to think too much about things like fate and coincidence. Things like that were dangerous things to dream wistfully about or to take seriously, but she couldn't help but feel like the stars were smiling down at her and pushing things together. The likelihood of her chances of finding Oberon on the day she was looking for him had been slim and yet, there he was grinning at her like she was a treasured friend.
It did funny things to her heart, the same way those intense looks from Obsidian did funny things to her heart. Or how every time her jade eyes met the icy blue of Seal's Eye and he called her Lady had her heart skittering into overdrive.
She tried not to think about it.
Just like she tried not to think about the way a darkly gloved hand reached for one of his automatically. It was so he didn't run off, she told herself. "You should show me the garden, that sounds - " she was smiling at him, "it sounds weird but, dunno. Fitting?" She tugged on the hand she tried to grab, backing up so she could pull him towards the place he pointed out.

Oberon didn’t expect her to grab his hand, but he didn’t pull it away. He stared at her curiously, but assumed she was probably just as lonely as he was. Or maybe not. Maybe she wasn’t lonely and just thought he was nice enough to hold his hand.
Either way, he gave it a gentle squeeze in what he hoped was a comforting way as he was pulled towards the garden out behind the building. They were lucky that they seemed to be the only people around. Vaguely he wondered how horrible it would be if she knew who he was, but memories of a future that he hoped would never happen held him back from doing anything stupid.
"Aha," he said quietly as he peered around the corner, eyeing the bench he thought he saw. "There. That’s good, right?" he asked, and now it was his turn to tug her hands towards the place to sit.
The bench was a little lower than standard benches, probably because it was handmade, or maybe it was built for kids. Either way, it was pretty ridiculous when Oberon sat down, because his legs were bent up awkwardly. He laughed at how silly he probably looked and carefully stretched his legs out once he was sure Hydra wouldn’t trip on them, and he wouldn’t step on her hair.

Often, Hydra cursed the paleness of her skin because it did little to hide her blushes and this was one of those moments where she wished she had darker skin. Or didn't flush so easily. She'd never really held the hand of a boy before, not like this, and wasn't taking his hand back. In fact, he squeezed her hand, which meant he didn't mind holding it. Right?
Boys were confusing.
She didn't try and say anything as they walked, too busy making sure she didn't trip or he didn't step on her hair or hiding her face, but when he spoke she looked up at him. Teeth bit down on her lower lip as she tried to hide her shyer smile. "Yeah, that looks - " she didn't finish, laughing instead as he tugged her towards the bench and tried to sit down on it.
He looked ridiculous.
"You're too tall for this bench." She stated, turquoise brow arched and lips pressed together in a poor attempt to hide her amusement. It didn't stop her from slipping into the seat beside him, reaching around her neck to pull all of her hair to one side, leaving a swirling pool of teal strand at the foot of the bench. Unlike Oberon, she appeared to be the appropriate height for such a short bench.
She took a moment to look at him, then her hands, and back up. "Lift your arm," she instructed, nudging the limb with an elbow.

Oberon grinned in amusement as she laughed, not at all minding that she thought it was ridiculous too, because it was ridiculous.
"Believe it or not, I used to be a lot shorter than I am now. When I was first awakened, I wasn’t even five feet tall," he said with a small laugh, wondering what she might think of that. He’d been young and naïve. He was still young and naïve, really. He just did the same reckless things with a little more knowledge of the consequences.
"I got a lot of ankle biter comments, but it was probably good that I could squeeze into places that youma couldn’t reach. Lucky for me, most people I ran into didn’t really like the idea of hurting a kid," he said, although there were always those exceptions. He distinctly remembered when he’d been injured and had to explain to his brothers that he was a senshi.
He blinked curiously at her when she nudged at his elbow, watching as her incredibly long hair pooled around her feet on the ground, but after a moment he lifted his arm as instructed.

"You're not so little now though, I bet you're taller than some of those that called you ankle biter." Rory could see that easily. Oberon didn't look like he was done growing either where she, unfortunately, was likely at her peak height. Small wasn't bad but being short had plenty of disadvantages and there were very few people who were shorter than her that weren't like...six.
It just meant that people questioned her capabilities and strength more than they should have. But, it was alright, it just meant she got to prove them wrong and there was something vindicating about that.
"I would tell you that you sounded reckless, but you seem reckless now so that obviously hasn't changed." After all, he was trusting that she wouldn't hurt him in such close proximity and was even complying with her request that he lift his arm. Once the limb had been raised, Hydra slid in closer and rested her cheek against his chest.
"This is okay, right? Just for a little?" Maybe they could just sit and exist for a while, pretend that they were sort of normal and she could pretend like maybe, just maybe they weren't on opposites sides.

"Calculated recklessness," he clarified with a small laugh as Hydra slid a little closer to rest against him. He would be absolutely lying if he said he didn’t like her. She was different from the other girls he’d met, and that might have something to do with her being a Negaverse senshi, but it might also just be because she had a lot more going on in her life than others.
Carefully, Oberon lowered his arm back around her, but tried to make it as casual as possible by reaching across to be able to pull open the bag of cookies, and then held it out for her to take one if she wanted as he gently rested his arm over her shoulders.
"These are really good," he said gratefully as he took a bite of one, the bag resting on his leg. He smiled softly down at her even if she couldn’t see him at the angle she was at.
"This is fine," he said, although he was sure his smile could be heard in his voice. "For you, this is okay any time."
