Picking a Career - Trying out clothes making Liloa was growing up, and as all children grow up, she began to wonder how she fit into her village. She could not just always be playing after seeing how hard her parents worked. She found herself liking the day to day like of her mother. She loved going with her mother to gather materials for new clothes, and she loved to watch her mother design new ideas. It was also amazing to see others wear what her mother made. But still, Liloa was hesitant. She wasn't sure if it was the job for her. What if she was just no good? What would she do then? It seemed hard, but that was kind of true for any choice she made.
So, Liloa decided to give it a try. As usual, she went with her mother to gather materials like fallen leaves, bark off tree roots and such. Gathering and collecting things was one of Liloa's favorite things to do. She liked finding new cool things to add to her collection. To her, they were like mini items with meaning. A rock could be a pretty gem in Liloa's imagination. It just felt nice to have things of meaning that were hers. So, as Liloa gathered materials for new clothes with her mother, she gathered some materials for herself, so she could try. Today, they just went around the area, so the materials were very common and usual in their village. Once they finished gathering materials; however, her mother noticed the extra, and smiled, "What are you up to this time Liloa?" Liloa blushed and said, "Just trying to learn to make clothes like you." The truth was Liloa did not want anyone to know, just in case she failed. Her mother just smiled and cheered her on. "I'll teach you," she said.
Once they were home again, her mother pulled out the tools for sewing and other things to make accessories. Today they were mainly going to focus on sew clothes. It was painful and hard. The holes they made to thread material through was very small and demanded extra attention. But, once Liloa managed to get the hang of it, the rhythm of sewing was hypnotizing. Soon she was finished. In the end, it didn't even turn out especially beautiful. But, it was still do-able. It wasn't amazing, but alright. For Liloa, she liked the rhythm sewing brought, and all the ideas possible for clothes. It was like her and how sporadic she could sometimes be. But, there was always a method to her madness.

The Ocean People It was the storm. It stormed for a long long time. Liloa thought it would never end. She was desperate the go out to gather some leaves to fix a hole in her pants. It was also because of the storm that her pants had ripped. She had wandered off without taking note of the growing currents and ended up in the middle of the storm. As she tried to get back home in the strong currents, she was tossed around her pants scrapped a rock and now, there was a hole in it. 'Why must you betray me, storm' Liloa wondered. It's not like she was all anti-storm; she thought it was wonderful that the world was getting wetter, but still, sometimes, there can be too much rain. She really needed materials for her pants so she could fix them and practice her clothes making skills. Liloa sat down with a sigh, it didn't seem like the rain was going to stop soon.
And, she was right, it poured for another 2 weeks, until finally the waters calmed. 'Where does all this water come from?' Liloa wondered. Too bad she couldn't fly to the sky to find out. As she emerged from her home, she heard various whispers in the town. Her ears perked out and her barbels itched. What were they saying?
"...rivers opened up...", "sea people" Liloa caught bits and pieces of the whispers, but she knew what had happened; they were connected to the sea again. The weeks of storming had filled the rivers and connected them to the sea! Liloa was curious. She started off into the swamp. As she kept swimming, she forgot about her original reason for going out, to fix her pants, instead she wanted to get as close to the sea as possible. The problem? She didn't know which way the sea was. But, Liloa did know she lived on an island surrounded by sea. If she just kept going in one direction, she should reach the sea right?
As Liloa swam, she wondered, ' What do these people look like? Do they really exist? 'What do their clothes look like?' However, the longer and longer she swam, she felt like she wasn't getting any further. She thought she had swam for ever, but she still recognized the landscape around her. She was still around town. Slowly, Liloa gave up. She was too tired to move further, even if she really wanted to see these people, they were too far for her today.
As Liloa swam back into town, she remembered: leaves! The light was already disappearing, so she decided to just go home and rest. When she arrived, her mom noticed she wasn't carrying any leaves and laughed, "What have you been up to all day?" Liloa blushed and told her mom about the rumors. Her mother nodded since she had heard them as well. "Well, I was thinking about going over to see if it has opened up and to see if they have any special materials. Would you like to come along?" Liloa cheered and said, "Yea! Of course I'll come."

Liloa's Life This is my life. I am a Menehune. Single child, so no siblings. I think life is lonely that way. No one to play with. That is really sad. But its fine I have tons of cousins and I have friends. Both my parents come from huge families. They both had so many siblings, but for some reason they only had me. I hear from them its better to be the only one, but WHY.
My name is Liloa. I like many things, but most of all right now. I like watching my mom make clothes. Its cool compared to everything else in my everyday life. I live in a swampy area so materials for clothes are hard to come by. My mom is really cool because of this. She made my clothes out of sunken leaves and reeds. She told me leaves are weak and fragile so i have to be careful to not rip my clothes. So i am very careful. I even started to learn a little bit of clothes making so I can fix my clothes if something goes wrong. My mom is so cool s he even made me a hairpin out of leaves. Its really cute, and she says it looks good with my eyes! I feel so good when my mom says cool things about me. My dad is cool too, but he never asks me to help him with the stuff he does, so Im not sure how his stuff works.
I also have cool friends. We play around our small village all the time. We doodle in the mud with sticks floating at the surface of the water. I like to think Im good at drawing...but Im not, sadly. The good thing is: the currents blow away my failures. But I am great at hide and seek. Its fun! because of my color I can blend in with many things in the swamp, my personal favorite spot is the river bed. We also play chase where we swim around trying to catch each other. Its really fun, but I usually get caught. The getting caught part isn't as fun.
My town is really small, but we live near these blue people and they are so different from us. They are Like BLUE. Sometimes we go play with the blue children. They are really fun to play with as well. They speak of living in blue rivers compared to our swamp. It must be a very different life. I bet it would be fun to live that life as well. I could even try out their cool clothes which is really different from ours. And they dont have the black tattoos like our elders have.
Thats about it. All the children I play with and the life I live.

Alone
Today, I swam far. I was playing hide and seek with my friends. I just wanted to find a place to hide that was special. So I swam and swam off into the swamp, trying to find new cool hiding place. I kept swimming and swimming and looking at every tree root and ditch in the riverbed, trying to find something good to hide in. Nothing seemed good enough, so I just kept going and going. Soon, scenery started looking different. This was not what I was used to. I looked back, behind me, the village was not in sight. I felt my little heart pumping hard. I was starting to get scared, and I knew it. I tried to keep the panic in me. I can find my way home if I just walk backwards. I turned in a full circle hoping to find something i recognized from the way here. Nothing. Everything looked the same all around. I didn't know what to do, so I just picked a random direction and started swimming. As I walked, I started crying. I did not know what to do. All I knew was that trying to find this cool new hiding spot was just a big dumb idea.
Soon, I got tired of swimming and crying. I knew I had to do something since I noticed that the world was getting dark. I sat down on a rock, wiped my tears away and told myself to be strong. I was going to be okay. I started hearing my tummy grumble. Oh boy. I have no idea what around here is edible. After looking around from my spot, I decided to not eat anything just in case. By now, my mind had cleared up a bit, and I thought my parents would be on their way to pick me up right? Hopefully. So I just sat and waited. I had no idea what to do. I didn't want to swim anymore. I was too scared to sleep in the dark unknown area. I just sat there counting leaves to calm my mind.
1569 what the number i stopped at. I stopped the moment I heard my name. "Liloa!!!!" I heard. My ears perked up. Where my parents here? Wow I was so excited. I jumped up and shouted, "Here!" into the blackness where I heard the calls. Soon I saw my mom and my dad coming towards me fast with worried looks on their face. I knew I'd get a lecture later, but right now, we were all just glad to see each other.

PLAYFUL CRITTERS Roleplay Event
Solo or RP Format Worth 5 Growth Points Solo word minimum is 500, RP post minimum is 7
The swampy waters of elehun seemed to be full of life lately. The warm summer weather had brought out all sorts of critters to play, and it wasn’t just those on land that were making their appearance. A family of enhudra could be seen flitting and diving around the village and seemed to take a particular interest in a single menehune. Their scaled bodies would glint and flicker in the lights coming from the sky above the waters as the three of them swirled and poked at the unfortunate kahikinan.
Today, was a new day! Liloa awoke with a start. She was ready for the day. She helped her mother with morning chores then set out to play. It was summer, and the temperature was hot, so Liloa set of for the deeper cooler part of the swamp. When the refreshing feel of cool water covered her body, Liloa let out a laugh. She was loving this day. She swam around the brown waters of the swamp and splashed around. She did some water angels in the riverbed.
As if the swamp were responding to Liloas excitement, small ripples formed near her. Liloa glanced over with curiosity. What could this be? Suddenly a small little creature swam out of the darkness, did a spin in the the water, and popped back into the muddy colored water. Wow! Liloa had never seen these before. She had no idea what they were, but she want to catch one and keep it as a pet. More and more showed up and started jumping from one place in the swamp to another. Liloa was mesmerized. Their synchronized spins looked like a little playful dance to Liloa. They took turns jumping out and water clouding with mud in all sorts of directions. With these jumps they made such designs like drawing out flowers and trees and designs out of the moving mud particles. Liloa really liked the dance, and now she knew she really wanted to have these creatures as pets so maybe she could join them in their fun as well.
Liloa reached blindly into the their designs to try and intercept on of the little creatures, but their slick bodies just twisted and glided right by her hand. She kept trying and trying. But they just kept their little dance going. Liloa started feeling embarrassed. she thought, 'They must be laughing at me.' As she kept trying, she got more and more frustrated. Soon, she just gave up with a huff.
But there was a small feeling of incompetence as she had failed to catch one. She turned around to try again, but when she saw that the creatures had stopped and were looking at her with their small beady little eyes, she knew that it would be mean to catch one. 'But it wouldnt hurt to play with them for a while.' Liloa thought as she started diving into the muddy waters laughing.
At first, she had a hard time thinking of anything to do when she watched the little creatures swim around. She wondered where she could ever fit into this. But as she started with some simple moves like waving her arms or jumping around. Soon, Liloa relaxed and started letting her body move and then she was able to slowly feel the rhythm of their dance. Then she started joining in and laughed. This wasn't so hard. She just had to relax and go with flow just like she did when she floated in the current and let it cruise her wherever the it wanted to take her.

THE GLINT OF TREASURE Roleplay Event
Solo or RP Format Worth 5 Growth Points Solo word minimum is 500, RP post minimum is 7
The summer months were always noticeably warm in Kahikina and the people of Pale’iko weren’t strangers to the changes summer brought. The heat dried up more of their already diminished rivers and anyone could see the drop from where they were near the surface. But this time, from beneath the Pale’iko river waters, something could be seen glinting on the banks above the water. It seemed like it was stuck in the mud, and the receding water had washed just enough of the bank away to uncover whatever was under there. What could it be? Was it treasure? Or was it someone’s trash?
Liloa was helping her mom today. She was glad to have the chance to tag along. She really admired how her mom could make so many thing out of whatever was around. Plus Liloa loved to go out and adventure. It was so boring to just stay in the village and run around and play with the kids. Liloa wanted to do something cool and useful, so, today, she was going to help find some cool stuff for her mom to make some new clothes and maybe even a toy out of.
The summer was hot, and water level had gone down, . The soft cool water felt nice and cool around Liloa's body as she swam with her mother. She started keeping her eyes out for the things her mom wanted her to find: leaves, reeds, and underwater plants (if there were any). As they swam in the swamp, Liloa made sure to keep close to her mom. They were wandering pretty far from their home, so she had to stick close to make sure she didn't get lost.
After a couple hours of foraging for materials, her mom started on the way back home. They had gathered enough to make clothes for the cooler season like fall and winter, but there wasn't any extra for any toys. That made Liloa a bit sad, but she knew she had done her duty and helped her mom, and that for her was good enough.
As they were heading back to their little town, Liloa noticed a small sparkle in a pile of soft mud. What could it be she wondered. She slowly swam down down to examine the sparkly thing. Since only a small piece of it was sticking out, Liloa did not recognize it, so she slowly started pulling on the thing. As is slowly started to emerge from the ground, Liloa felt her disappointment growing. It was only shining because of the water, and in reality it was dull in color. It was just a rock. A plain rock that sparkled a bit. "What is it Liloa?" she heard her mother say. When her mother glanced back and saw the rock, she said, "Oh, what a nice cute little rock! I can make you something cute out of it."
Hearing this, Liloa picked up the rock and carried it home with her. She waited patiently for her mom to finish up with the clothes before her mom started working on the rock. However, once her mom did start, Liloa was amazed. First her mom had to take the rock to someone else to ask them to make it a perfect shape. After that was finished (and it did take quite a while), her mother brought out some paste and began painting the rock. After a while, that too was done.
Liloa now looked at the little rock. It was a cute little bug she could use as a toy! Even something she had been so disappointed to find could bring her joy. Liloa immediately ran off to tell her friends about her new little toy, and her adventure today.
