And that was when a large shadow passed over the ice and frozen seathi. With clinking chains, and a a low chuckle, Shyam slowly, lazily, circled the frozen water. With two sets of large wings, the angeni could have been thought to be some hero come down. If anyone believed in the tales of angeni, then surely Shyam was here to rescue the group. Unfortunately, Shyam was not a pure angeni... at least not anymore.

Chuckling at the scene, he allowed himself to drift lower, observing the precious scene. "I'm not usually into seafood, but some of you do rather look delicious," he purred, gazing almost lovingly down at the frozen soquili. While angeni were his preferred meals, it wasn't always easy finding such divine meat. But these small, squeaking appetizers looked utterly delicious. "Don't worry," he called back to the others that were waiting on the land. "All I need is their heads." He gave a small chomp, allowing his fangs to snaps together like a steel trap.

"Now... which of you wants to play first?" He flapped his wings a few times, continuing his low circle over the group.

User ImageEnfys came charging towards the ice. He'd heard the yelling, the cries for help, on the wind. He didn't know what was wrong, but he couldn't deny whoever it was who needed aid. When he arrived, and saw the crowd of trapped seathi... and the predators coming close... He snorted in annoyance, and came to a rearing halt at the edge of the ice, his rainbow fetlocks flashing through the air as he did so. Coming down, he did the first thing he felt mattered. He stomped, hard, on the edge of the ice, seeing how tough it was, before making his way forwards, stomping each time to test the footing.

"So, we've trapped cousins, here, do we? Let's try to free you, if we can, shall we?" He said, to the nearest trapped seathi, as he watched the predators with a serious eye. He wasn't by inclination a fighter, but to pick off the helpless was both cruel and vile, and also showed a lacking in courage. He would do what he could to protect these water going cousins.

Kanaloa had been heading to visit his friend Opihi, where he and his penguin friends often resided. He had chosen to spend the night on land, as it was cold enough, this winter, that he didn't want to sleep in the water in this area. When he woke, he had planned to go back into the water, but the very solid ice had put paid to that idea. He frowned at it, and began to trot along the water's edge, but found that it kept stretching, and seemed to be quite thick.

When he got far enough, he saw all the trapped seathi, and the full sized Soquili approaching. He frowned a little, thinking of his lovely Minali, and how upset she might be if she were trapped, and headed forwards, hoping to help free the Seathi. It never occurred to the sweet boy that the others there might... not have innocent intentions. "Hello! Can I help?" He called to the nearest Seathi.

JUST A SMALL NOTE:Indominus is one of my more vicious characters and when I RP her she tends to get extremely violent and sometimes graphic in nature (it's really where her muse goes). I'll keep her as toned down as I can but if at any point you think it's a bit much let me know.

At the sound of Takala's voice the large Bird turned and stared at the mare. "I'd watch yourself." He took the moment to glide a bit farther away from her, he knew very well that Indominus was likely already on her way. Though he didn't realize there was any connection between the two. He had been gone a lot when that whole thing happened. She'd deal with her once she got here, at least that's what his mind was telling him. "There's plenty here at any rate." He narrowed his eyes at the duo and then watched as a few others arrived on scene. Some of which didn't seem to be too forward about their emotions. Oh yes, Dom was going to have a gay ole time here today. Friend and Foe. Not that Takala is really a friend.

Red gaze fell upon the scene before her and her talons clicked the cold earth beneath her. "LEUKOS." Her voice was a hiss and essentially a demand for him to come to her. Taking flight he flew to the Mare and landed on a branch by hear head. "What is your assessment?" He had been here longer than her, and she wanted to know what he had for her and then her eyes fell upon a very familiar face and a wicked grin spread across her scaly face. "There is plenty of prey at our claws. There are a handful that are wanting to help them but we have enough brute strength that they won't be an issue." He replied and watched her curious reaction to seeing the other mare.

"I'm not surprised to see you here. Though I didn't pick you as the easy meal type." She was teasing her and she noticed the winged snake that was close at claw, how very interesting. At least they had a thing for winged 'companions.' Though Leukos was lucky she didn't like bird meat or she'd of likely eaten him a long time ago. Her gaze shifted to the other equines that had showed up on scene, none of which were predatory in nature. "Do you think we'll have to kill them all or just one and the rest will scatter?" The ideas that pooled through her head were malicious. Her spiked tail whipped behind her at the thought of tearing into their soft flesh and hearing their screams for help.

The paled hair equine was finding the snowy atmosphere to be quite intriguing. He had slightly thicker skin than most, since he had a bit of a rubbery quality about himself but other than that if it got too cold, he had found it could be quite uncomfortable. His heavy tail swayed slightly behind him as he walked along and then paused, twin peaks twisting slightly as he caught the sound of voices on the wind. They seemed desperate and wanting of rescue.

He had never partook in helping someone, at least in a rescue type of situation. Helping out others was something he prided himself in doing, at least if the need called for it. Most of the time he would just relax and enjoy the days his life offered him.

Strawberry colored gaze scanned the area as he moved, he could tell he was getting closer since their calls for help were getting louder but there were some strange scents on the wind. It had appeared to be, at least to him, that he wasn't the only one to hear their call. And he wasn't sure all of them were there to help.

White locks danced across his face as he came to a halt before the rather peculiar situation. There were a number of equines present that he was fairly certain ate just vegetation and perhaps the occasional sea snack (mer equines excluded from the menu) and there were two that he was definitely sure ate meat. Their talons and devious expressions kind of gave it away. As for the dark Angeni, he wasn't sure. The stallion just seemed to radiate 'Stay away from me or I'll bite you'. At least that's what he was picking up from him at a glance.

Finding a safe route to get towards the ice without passing by the carnivores he kept a watchful eye on their companions as well. Turning his attention towards a little family that was close to him he asked what was going on. "As it seems we don't have much time before things get ugly, what happened here?" He asked Apatite, since he was closest to him.

Emaera didn't quite know how should be lost again, but she was. She hadn't meant to be out in the ocean in the winter time; she was normally already far inland with Imperio by this time each year, strapped in her comfortable baskets as they bounced with each of the stallion's steps. Instead she was swimming up and down the shoreline, her little head eagerly poking up from the waves in an attempt to catch a glimpse of her fiery and energetic friend. The air had gotten colder in the last few days, and she could already see that the streams and rivers she used to travel in the summer had frozen over. She could risk swimming under the ice to move further inland, but she was afraid she might miss the arrival of her friend. Imperio always came, every year since their first, he had come without fail.

There was a large group ahead though, and Emaera paused, still a distance away. Her tali looped itself against a rock and she swayed back and forth with the current as she observed. It did appear to just be a rather large group of Seathi, a rarity that she had not seen in awhile. Emaera spent very little time in the company of other aquatics, preferring her land herd to the awkward new meetings. She was not well-practiced in underwater etiquette as a result, but perhaps it was the same as above water etiquette? One would never know, she told herself, unless one tries! Besides, she reasoned, as she drifted closer and ignorant of the encroaching ice, perhaps there was something interesting going on!

"Hello?" she called out as she approached, watching the swarming mass of small bodies. "What ever is going on over here?"

Buddy nodded to the mare that came up along side. She did seem to have the right idea to ask about the thickness. He wasn't sure if his size would help or hinder. At the Seathi's mention that it might crack some for them to escape from the ice, he started forward.

As he was about to test the edge of the ice, another stallion came and stomped out onto the ice. It seemed the rainbow unicorn was a friend or at least helpful. "One says that she can't move the ice with her tail. Would us walking in a half circle work best?" He really didn't want to hurt them. They were just as diverse as those of them on land.

If there was one thing that Sagitta could not abide much it would have had to be waiting. The skinwalker had been forced to put aside his personal vendetta due to poor weather. Although sidelined the 'walker was not idle. He still felt hunger's claws digging into his brain and he knew that finding a quick meal would at least appease the growling beast that lay beneath the surface. The weather was a fickle creature in itself. Staying lower to the ground than usual Sagitta was in his feral form just barely skimming the tree line.

Echolocation lit up the world below in sound and Sagitta banked hard to his left to investigate an oddity in the picture that he was receiving back. When realization set in the 'walker could not help but give a silent chuckle in malicious glee. Oh this would be fun. Maybe even a meal could be made of this situation if he played his cards just right. His landing would be awkward but the lesser weight of his feral form would enable him to get closer to the seathi that were stuck in the ice before others could reach them. Perhaps he could "act" like a savior and then grab a snack to go.

(( Any trapped seathi wanna play with a walker? Or any of the villains/heroes? Sagitta's feeling a little peckish ))

Conleth didn't mind the winter weather, except for the fact that it made it harder to get a decent meal. Most of the really scrumptious prey seemed to hide during the winter, which made him eat things he wouldn't normally eat. So hear the fire colored stallion was, trying to decide what he might like to eat. His stomach rumbled, reminding him that he needed to find something soon. The pawed one would hate to have to resort to a little bunny, that really didn't do for his voracious hunger. If he could only find some kind of deer or something, he would appreciate it.

Just as he was wondering if he would have to go rummage up something small, desperate cries from the direction of the sea met his ears. Well, well, now his curiosity was peaked, that was more than one voice he heard calling. As quickly as he could, he ran off to the ocean, to see if he could learn what in the world was going on. As he finally drew closer, the sight that meant him made him chuckle softly. It seemed there were some Seathi trapped in ice, with some other land Soquili circling them. He wasn't really bothered by all the other bigger ones, but the seafood platter on ice definitely sounded delicious to him. It must be his lucky day, so he drew closer, thinking how best to approach this.

"Well, well, what do we have here? You are an awful lot of Seathi stuck in one area. What could possibly be so important to have such a gathering of silly things?"he spoke, a smirk on his muzzle. His eyes roamed the area, before he caught sight of something gleaming nearby. He walked over to it and wanted to laugh as he saw it was a pearl. Surely they weren't stupid enough to get stuck for this...were they?

Snow, snow, and more snow. That's all winter ever seemed to produce- cold air and snow. How is a stallion supposed to stay warm if all it ever does during this time of year is snow? Hollow Tzalmon grumbled and griped to himself for the umpteenth time that day. The winter that set in this year felt cold and bitter as always, but even more so after his latest encounter. He felt degraded, dejected, and overall downtrodden. And the chilly winds of winter did little to soothe his spirits. It was as if the weather was mocking him and punishing him even more. “Bah! Curse those idiots!” He spat at the ground, gnashing his teeth. Turning his gaze skyward, he yelled “And curse the heavens for this wretched weather!”

Hollow had little love for the heavens above. He always blamed the spirits for making him the way he was. While his adoptive father tried his best, there was nothing he could do to quell the young stallion’s inner turmoil. A turmoil that only grew with each encounter that he faced. Purewalkers, such as his parents, tended to take advantage of him and attempt to claim, maim, or destroy. He often times barely escaped with his sanity and flesh intact. Then there were the other Soquili of the lands. Many distrusted him automatically due to his appearance. It was rather difficult to explain his pelt away, after all, and the glowing stone on his chest. Apparently, the charmed stone provided to his adoptive father by a pure Angeni was little more than a trinket. Or so the latest individuals to cross his path had believed. They had wasted no time in pursuing him into the northern ranges for fear of being attacked. With no time to explain himself, Hollow ran as far and as fast as his paws could carry. For, while he would fight if pushed, there were times when he could not bring himself to do so. The reasons and occasions varied. This particular instance was because he had already been doubting himself. His fears and concerns echoing back at him from the small herd that chased him.

Eventually, once satisfied that they had driven him off, the herd halted their pursuit. Now Hollow wandered about the blistery ranges of the north in hopes of finding some place warmer…more welcoming. He was currently contemplating his best discourse, traveling to the southeast or passing further over the mountains or just continuously cursing the heavens, when the sounds of yelling and distress touched his ears. Curious, the cat-like Soquili ran at a mild pace to see what all the commotion was about. Through the trees, he traveled until he came upon a rather unique scene. Seathi. A whole group of them had become stranded in the ice, their cries attracting friend and foe alike. Hollow hesitated. It was clear to him which Soquili were there to help and which were there for an easy meal. His claws raked the ground at the sight of the more unsavory ones. His instincts calling to him to go and help in the endeavor to protect the Seathi. Yet he stayed back, his large frame well hidden among the trees. What if the friendly ones mistook him for another aggressor? What if they attacked him while he attempted to help?

Hollow shook his head and frowned. The words from the herd resounding in his mind. No, he couldn’t risk it. Not just yet. For the time being, he would watch from the trees. If one of the others made a detrimental move, then he would step in and aid those on the good side. But only then.

Icefyre lived for this kind of weather. The cold never bothered him anyways. As an ice dragon, he couldn't help but enjoy the freezing temperatures. Today he left his wonderful mate, to go for a stroll. She understood him so well, and to him, it seemed like she didn't mind his hikes that he took. Years of solitude gave him time to reflect on life. So now, even with a lifelong companion, he sometimes needed to get away, and reconnect with the elements, more so during winter.

The big dragon was nearly ran into by a smaller white stallion, in quiet a hurry!

User Image

Zahid attracted unfortunate events. When he heard the yells and calls in the distance, it did not catch him unawares. He moved fast, and headed towards the destination. But...the sounds had been hard for him to follow. Things never went as planned for the desert stallion. After redirecting a few times, this time, the noises were getting louder! He charged full force, sword at his side, ready to grab it when needed. How could he NOT notice the ever so LARGE Soquili in his path?! Well. He didn't! Zahid practically rolled around him, to keep from knocking right into his side. Wow! Had this guy swallowed a few polar bears? He was huge! "Apologies sir." Zahid nodded to him, and was about to continue on, before the massive stallion addressed him.

Icefyre fanned his wings out, and took a step back, looking over Zahid. "Woah there. Is everything alright?" Ice had been so absorbed with listening to the sounds of winter, and the quiet lull the snow had over the land, that he failed to hear the cries of those so close to him.

Zahid cocked an ear at Icefyre. Surely he had heard the cries of someone in distress nearby. "I'm going where the commotion is. I heard cries for help. Sorry, I must go!" Zahid had humored the curious beast long enough. Time is everything when someone is in need of assistance, and he had already wasted so much time trying to find where it was exactly he was heading.

Icefyre did not get put off by the conversation being cut short, and admired the stallions drive to complete his task. Cries for help? Winter can be exceptionally harsh for those not prepared to face her. No telling what had happened. Icefyre knew that their meet was not mere happenstance. He would go with him, and provide aid if needed. Maybe he hadn't heard the cries, so he could wait to meet this stranger, and they could go together. Icefyre closed in at his side, with little effort to catch up.

Silently, the two ran, needing no words to say to the other. When they arrived to the waters edge, Icefyre's deep blue eyes widened. Heads above the ice, predators, and locals, all in one strange gaggle of a gathering. Icefyre picked up speed. "Throw me your sword!" he ran, soon to be well ahead Zahid. The look of objection in the strangers eyes was to be expected. "You're going to have to trust me!"

Zahid coudln't help but wonder why this guy had decided to follow him. Aside from his sweet Ivette, he wasn't used to the company of others, unless they wanted to bring him harm. This guy seemed genuine enough perhaps. Then, he asked for his sword. Umm, yeah right! This sword was a gift from his father, and had saved his own life on numerous occasion. Zahid narrowed his eyes at him. Trust him? Zahid had a moment where he thought about that. Nobody had ever asked him to place his trust in them. Most of his life, he spent distrusting those around him, just to keep danger away. Yes. Alright. Sure. Zahid decided that this stallion already had a plan. It could be, that he'll run out on the ice, and start slicing the seathi heads off. That would be more in line with the type of things Zahid would expect with all the bad stuff he managed to find his way into. This stallion appeared different though, and Zahid gave him his trust. Grabbing his sword, he flung it at the cold white stallion.

Icefyre caught the sword by the hilt, and did not stop when he passed by others that had gathered around the forests edge, or were carefully stepping out onto the ice. He fanned out his wings, flapped them a few times, and jumped into the air. He flew over a few soquili, and landed right in the middle of everything. Ice dragon yes, but with strong kirin blood. The ice did not crack or break under his massive weight. Easily, he shielded half the seathi under him. With the strength of a giant, he began to smack at the ice with the hilt of the sword around the seathi. This meeting of locals and seathi was quickly going to turn into a blood bath with the dangers that circled over head! No time to chat, no time to wait. They must be freed now!

Zahid got to the edge of the water, and began to scan those standing around. So many had come to help the little seathi heads and legs sticking out of the ice. He admired the hearts of the heros around him. While some, had come just to see watch the events. Disaster had a strong pull on the living. They liked to watch it unfold, like a moth watches the flame. Now was not the time to be idly standing by watching things though! Or they were likely to get hurt or eaten. Zahid counted at least 3 definitely bad baddies in the vicinity, 2 that had easy access from above, 1 a predator already on the ice. Perhaps 2 on the ice. He could be wrong, and they could all be there to help. Zahid knew better though.

Zahid moved to the edge of the ice, and shouted at those not paying attention to the death that flew above them. "Be careful! There are dangerous Soquili here! Not just the Seathi are in trouble!" and then he suddenly felt naked without his sword amidst the chaos...

((Willing to have interactions with one baddie at a time! Some rough and tumble goodness is fine.))

It was only a momentary distraction that shifted Sagitta's attention away from the seathi that were stuck in the ice but whatever the reason it probably had saved him from being skewered with a sword. He had moved away from the hole in which the seathi were stuck as new arrivals continued to pop up. Having no certainty in gaining a free meal now the batwalker sighed dramatically before scanning the others that were gathered around. Perhaps it was the fact that one such individual was screaming out about dangerous Soquili lurking around triggered a deep seated instinct to end such theatrics as soon as possible.

Taking to the air the batwalker soared towards his new target and assessed the stallion with a critical eye while remaining aloft. Finding no hint of a visible threat Sagitta landed on the ground and proceeded to shift to his normal size. He tsked softly, "why would you have to go and say what you said, hmm? Awfully inconsiderate if you ask me."

User Image Zahid stumbled back, seeing something odd out of the corner of his eyes. Bats. Why did it always have to be bats?! He gave the bat a "are you serious?" look, waiting for it to attack him, but then, the unexpected happened. The bat transformed into a batwalker. Great. As if bats weren't enough, and didn't give him enough grief, now his troubles had upgraded to batwalkers. Zahid rolled his eyes, and wondered if the same witch who cursed him and sent thralls of blood sucking bats to attack him, was now sending a batwalker. He didn't put it past her.

When the walker spoke, Zahid could smell death and rot on his breath. If he wasn't careful with this beast, his entrails would end up spilled across the snow. Zahid reached to his side for his sword and then remembered he had entrusted it to the white stallion playing on the ice currently, smashing it's treasured hilt into the hard ice. Damnit. This is where trust had got him! Smack in front of a walker, weaponless. Zahid lowered his head. "Tsk." he replied to the walker. "Ever so sorry for ruining your fun." he said with hot sarcasm. No way was he going to make this an easy fight. Many fights had been fought in his life, though few were without a weapon. He had hooves, horn, and body. He could use those as his weapon for now, until that bloody dragon returned his sword!

Apatite
User Image

A dark foreboding clung to Apatite's chest, every muscle tense. Everything was spiralling out of control, faster and faster. More soquili swarmed into the area, attracted to the futile cries of the seathi. And even worse, they seemed the highly unsavoury kind. Dark, twisted, demented. Violent. Skinwalkers. Kalonas. Kelpi. Every kind of unpleasant being he had ever fathomed was suddenly pouring onto the ice. Thud thud. His heart thundered, each beat sending a powerful contraction through his entire body. Blood raced within his ears, threatening to overwhelm him.

He couldn't take it, not again. He had lost his entire family as a child, spent his adolescence and early adulthood afraid of everyone - too scared to interact with people in case they too would turn on him, betray him and kill him too. And then he had met Amitola, and things had changed. His heart, which had once held only fear, had suddenly felt the twinge of something else, something infinitely more powerful than fear. Love. And yet it had not been enough, for all his infatuation with the mare, and though he had sired two children by her, the fear had overwhelmed him. He had run, run far away. But a heart once awoken could not be stilled so easily, and so he had met Cyllene.

He had hated her at first, she was obnoxious. Annoying. How could anyone stand to be around her? And yet, something about her had drawn him in. Her ferocity, her power of spirit, her sheer fearlessness of everything. And suddenly his whole world had meaning. The fear - it didn't matter anymore. For her he would have given the world. But she had asked far more than the world, for she too had been just as afraid, too scared to commit to the dark, brooding stallion. And she had turned him away, not understanding her mistake. He had lost his whole world again that day. His entire reality, shattered. Nothing mattered anymore, he had nothing to tether him to this existence. And so he had left. As far as possible. And finally, he had found a sanctuary. A place so safe, no kelpi could ever reach him again. And he had relaxed, and learned about the world. But the one thing he had never been able to overcome was his yearning for Cyllene, his intense love persisted through everything, destroying him from within year after year.

He had taken a risk, coming back. But it had been worth it. There was Cyllene, just as torn up as he, just as in love with him. And then, finally, they had confessed and become mates. It had not been easy, there were many years they had been apart, but they had made it. And now she was, once again, everything he lived for. And, he realised with a start, he could not lose that again. It didn't matter how afraid he was, he would act for her. He could act for her. For his mate, for his life, for their future. Resolution flooded through him, calming his frantic heart, a deep fire that burned purpose into him.

And so when Misha approached him, his voice was calm, and despite the fact that he was stuck, and that his mate was doing her best to aggravate the situation, he felt... in control. Finally. "I'm not entirely sure. We came here for a pearl, someone set it up, said whoever gets it first wins it. And well, seathi are a treasure hunting bunch. We swarmed en-masse. The ice froze around us, almost by some magic. We're all stuck." His heart jumped again, but he tightened his gaze and held himself in check. "And it appears we not have company."

Still horrified at what his mother was doing, Taigon almost missed the kelpi stallion walking up and talking to his father. But he tuned in just in time. "Y-yes, please, help us. Before my mother gets me killed." Shivers worked their way up his spine. He wasn't made for this cold weather, he was far too small! "I don't want to be eaten..."

Eclipse blinked in surprise. A pearl? The seathi had all swarmed to the surface for a pearl? He cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably within his small bubble of water. He wasn't entirely encased, yet, but it was only a matter of time. Already he could see that it would be futile to struggle out, the ice was forming much faster than his small tail would be able to break through. Besides, whacking at the ice like that with no results would be incredibly embarrassing, he thought. Less embarrassing than being eaten, of course, but... nonetheless a situation he would rather avoid, if possible.

He turned towards the mare with the striking pink hair, Xochitl, for she seemed to have a better grasp of the situation than the others. "We're here for a pearl? I-is that why you came up?" He remained mostly oblivious to the ominous atmosphere around them, conveniently ignoring the incoming congregation of purewalkers and other nasty individuals.

Solaris didn't mind the cold too much. Thanks to his spiffy sweater he stole from the local Kawani market, it allowed him to keep up with his hobbies even in winter. His hobby? Stealing shinnies from others! Today it was exceptionally cold though, and he had pilfered nothing. As he was about to turn in for the day, he had seen the group of soquili on the waters. Hanging back, he heard something about a pearl, and his ears had perked up. There was so much going on though, that he couldn't really find an opening to go in and try to find it!

Ugh! He was going to miss his opportunity. More and more bodies kept showing up. Solaris decided to move in now. Walking over to the ice, he carefully stepped out onto his own path.

"Yes! Save the Seathi!" he looked at some of the fullsized soquili with shifty eyes. "They need our help!" he had a half grin. To him it was fun to play along. He really didn't have a care about the Seathi.

As he got closer, there was some crazy action going on. One insanely huge winged Soquili was smashing the ice with a sword. There was a rainbow soquili, a pawed mare, a kepli, and others talking to the Seathi, and testing the ice. Yes. Distract them..

Solaris Flare looked at the direction the Seathi were going, and tried to get closer to the area above the ice. The ice was cracking though with all the attention from the full sized soq trying to free the Seathi. Perhaps if he was close enough when the ice broke, he could swim down. Squinting through the ice, he tried to see where the pearl was. Predators be damned, there was treasure nearby!

Unfortunately for her, she happened to be trapped right next to a seathi who appeared to have quite the opposite aim in life - Finnigan. She tried to press herself against the ice, knowing that no matter her poise or confidence levels, she didn't have a single chance against these thunderous land-walkers. With a sharp curse, she quickly realised that this was to no avail. While underwater she could camouflage herself quite well amongst the bright corals, her orange colouration only made her stand out all the more here. So, really, Finnigan's shouting was only making her more and more of a target, given that his fur blended in decently against the frozen waters.

"Hey, handsome!" She yelled at him, trying to conceal her annoyance and fear. Being stuck in the ice had been fine, but painting a target all over her? Even she was unnerved now. But she took a deep breath, calming her rapidly shaking body. Collecting herself was a skill she had learned well. "How about you calm down and don't turn us both into fish food, okay?" She shifted uncomfortably, hoping none of the giant Soquili had paid attention to his outburst over the general screams for help of her fellow seathi-kind. "Lets be honest here, the only thing you can do to these guys is give them indigestion." She paused, wondering if he had enough brains to comprehend the need for discretion. Halfheartedly, she gnashed her teeth at him. "If you don't shut up, I might be tempted to take a bite out of you myself."

A lone, white bear hid in the shadows of a nearby snowdrift, blending in perfectly into the scenery. She stayed so still that only the faint misting of her breath before her muzzle would have given her away. Although her flank rose and fell with each breath she took, the movement was so slight and so gently controlled, that not a soul would have seen it until it was far too late. Her eyes shone with a deep intelligence, gazing out at the scene that would soon be a playground of carnage.

A deep smirk was spread across her face, satisfaction oozing from the hidden predator. This had been her best scheme yet. Why hunt others, when she could get them to come to her? The whole thing had been so simple. She could get away with so much, posed as a friendly bear companion. The pearl had been an accidental acquisition, looted from the corpse of one of her recent victims. A merchant, she had gathered from the items in his satchels. He herself hadn’t been able to tell her much, except for the fact that he sure could scream when he was afraid. She almost chuffed in satisfaction at the memory, but quelled it. Now was not the time to give herself away.

It hadn’t taken much to manipulate the strings, talk to other animals, get them to spread the rumours underwater to the seathi. A beautiful pearl, placed right at the surface. It was an attractive prize, she was sure, to the treasure loving seathi. What morons. What delicious, bite-sized morons. Her stomach threatened to growl, acid burbling deep within. She was hungry, and soon she would feast. Of course, the scenario had turned out even better than anticipated. She had thought she would coax the seathi out into the shallow waters, where all she had to do was open her mouth and she’d eat one after another. But an unexpected cold snap had frozen the waters around her quarry, leaving them perfectly in place for her. She attributed this to her own cleverness, of course. On some level she must have known this would happen – it was her plan after all, right?

And not only that, but the pitiful cries of her dinner had attracted bigger and better things. Good things, and bad things, but all of them were delicious things – that she was sure of. And soon they would fight, no doubt, either squabbles over who had first eating rights, or a full out war between the good and the bad, the would-be saviours and the opportunistic feeders. But little did they know she was hunting all of them, and once they had all fought themselves out, once the ice ran red with their blood, she would descend and gorge herself to her fill.

((Bear is going to lurk in the shadows until we're ready to break the ice and set the seathi free - then I'll get her to step out and splash we'll all go, unless someone else breaks it first xD She's super heavy though so I figure she'd be a good final touch to crack it right down the middle. Also it'll ruin her plan and her entire day.))

((I am always happy to have not-so-positive interactions with others! Heck, I used to play a terribly violent 'walker myself, so I'd be a hypocrite if I weren't. XD ))

Had the ice not been currently keeping Xochitl from rising up in an absolute fit of fins, she would have been after whomever had had the audacity to imply that she (and by extension, the other seathi,) was stupid! Certainly a land Soquili like them couldn't understand the draw and allure of pearls, but to cast such aspersions so carelessly?! Oh, Xochi was beyond furious. "Hey, watch who you're calling stupid! Some of you happen to be spending time with predators just for the sheer fun of it, so I'd stick my tongue right back in my mouth, if I were you." It took one dumb pony to know another, after all. Pah!

She slapped her tail angrily, causing a small stir in the water, and... actually shifting the ice slightly. Wait, what? Could the extra bodies on top of the ice be helping matters some? Shivering, Xochitl slapped her tail again. She didn't want to let the predators know that their prey might be a little less helpless than prefer, though she could still feel the firm grip of the ice. Maybe they were getting closer to a solution.

When the black stallion spoke to her, she blinked, almost a little astonished that another seathi had decided to acknowledge her presence. "I'm here for the pearl. What are you here for?" Was it just that he'd heard that others of his kind were gathering? Given the very dangerous presences that had gathered by the shore, she was pretty sure that they'd all regret it. "Did you come here because everyone else did?" Something caught her eye out, a glint of metal or a shimmer of scales. Could it be that their rescuers were growing in number?
