The Hero Of This Story

User Image
Name: Huarwar
Age: 19 21 22
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Werybrat
Rank: Candidate Jr. Weyrling Wingrider
Location: Western

Physical Description: Like his twin, Huarwar stands at six feet tall. He his emerald green eyes that are almond shape, though they can often be narrowed in concern. He has his left ear lobe pierced. His dark brown hair is long and worn in a braid, he has the left sift of his head shaved, and bangs are normally swept down covering his right eye. After Vimiath's hatching, Huarwar cut the braid off and let the left side of his hair grow out. His hair is about medium length and a little shaggy. He has facial hair now that he keeps groomed nicely. Anything to make himself look different from how Henwas looked at the hatching.

Personality:
[+]Loyal: Huarwar is loyal to a fault, he will follow and defend anyone who he deems has earned it. It can be kind of difficult to gain his loyalty but once you do, it is unwavering. Right not, Huarwar is loyal to his brother and will do anything he can to help him. Huarwar does not have many friends after the hatching, more from him pulling away from everyone. The only one that he has stayed truly close to is Aleyx.
[-]Cynical: After the hatching and without Henwas there, Huarwar was forced to let go of his dependence issues. In place of that trait he developed a cynical view point that he never had before. He saw how no other candidate's came forward to help Henwas at the hatching when he was attacked, it has made him very distrustful of why someone might want to get to know him. He has also become a bit distrustful of dragonets, even though death is normal to happen when they don't truly know what to do, he will always be on guard when he is on the sands, even more so then before.
[+]Compassionate: Strange to see, when compared to his brother, Huarwar is actually very compassionate. He doesn't like to see people hurt and it's only his dependency and loyalty to his brother that allows him to turn a blind eye. He likes to help out the old and elderly of the weyr, as well as spend his time with the younger children, they don't seem to judge as much.
[-]Regretful: There are a lot of things Huarwar has done, or has let happen, that he regrets. Actually most things in his life, Huarwar finds he regrets a lot. He wishes he could stand up to Henwas about things he things are wrong but he fears the repercussions of doing that. Huarwar remains regretful, even after the hatching, though now it is not because he wishes he could stand up to his brother. He wishes he could have done something different during the hatching to save his brother. This will probably never go away.
[+]Passionate: Huarwar is a young man with a fire burning in his heart, one that only needs to be stroked to get stronger. When he finds interest in something, be it someone or an activity, Huarwar throws himself into it without abandon. He enjoys the feeling of losing yourself in a task, or a person, though he worries of starting a relationship because of his dependency to Henwas.
[-]Ambitious: With Henwas' death, Huarwar has turned his grief into a drive for ambition. He does not care what color dragon he impresses, but he knows he is going to rise above the ranks and show how strong he really is. He is going to become a rider and gain power to make up for Henwas not being there anymore. This has made him a little more callous at times and he isn't afraid to use people to get what he wants, though he will do so in a delicate manner. Though he will never use a woman or a younger child.
Positive Trait List Loyal, Compassionate, Passionate
Negative Trait List Cynical, Regretful, Ambitious

History: Huarwar was born a candlemark after his twin Henwas. It was obvious once the babe had been born that he was not the stronger twin. Born to Branwyn of green Delyth and G'hin of blue Mawrth. Huarwar, being the younger and weaker twin, was babied by Branwyn until their half-brother Caderyn was born. With the addition of the new babe, Branwyn's attentions moved from her older twins to Caderyn. Henwas always seemed to resent Caderyn for taking away their mothers attention, especially for stealing it away from Huarwar, but Huarwar didn't seem to mind. He still spent time with his mother and younger brother and liked to help her to take care of him.

As the twins grew, Henwas continued to remain the stronger and more outspoken twin while Huarwar stood on the sidelines. In the gang of weyrbrats that Henwas created, Huarwar was the second in command only by name. It was obvious to anyone if you messed with Huarwar, Henwas would come at you without thinking.

The gang took to terrorizing the other children and Huarwar noted that Henwas took the most delight in messing with Caderyn, something Huarwar had tried to have his twin stop, but only resulted in him being scolded and told he didn't know anything. Huarwar stopped bringing it up from that point on.

At the age of twelve, Henwas and Caderyn came to blows over their respective father's, and because Caderyn had been trying to protect some of the young children from Henwas' gang. Huarwar ran off to get their mother, coming back in time with Branwyn to see that A'dras and G'hin had pulled their sons apart from one another. Huarwar took over tending to Henwas after their father left and stopped berating him.

Learning of his father's death, Huarwar was actually a little grateful. He had never cared for his father and he always knew of his father's disdain for him as well. He never voiced this to Henwas, even though his twin seemed to feel indifferent about the death.

A turn after Henwas and Caderyn had gotten into a fight, Huarwar and his twin were sent to Western to live with their extended family there. He was upset to see High Reaches go, but he hoped that, perhaps, a change might help he and Henwas.

Huarwar was able to temper his brother some, becoming a consul of a sort for him as he recreated. His twin seemed to trust him more, and Huarwar became a bit more dependent upon his twin. While they had always been candidate's, Huarwar never seemed to really care if he impressed or not, though now, with the return of thread, he is hoping both he and his twin impress. He knows how dragons can help their bonded and he hopes his will help him grow stronger while Henwas' will help him become more sympathetic.

Everything ended up changing for Huarwar on the day that Vimiath's most recent clutch hatched. Everything seemed to be going normally and fine until Henwas was attacked. There was a loud crunch that echoed through the sands when the attacking green had jumped onto his twin as he had pushed himself in front of Huarwar and Aleyx.

Henwas ended up dying from the wounds and Huarwar was left alone. He has taken some time to recover and it has caused him to change some. He has decided to stay at Western and continue trying to impress, determined to become a rider and rise through the ranks. He is going to prove that he is not as week as he use to be, to make Henwas know that he is ok.

Here There Be Dragons

Green Miershoth
Written by Uta
Colored by MaraRune

User Image

Origin of Name: Miershoth is named after the word miershopptier, or Anthill Tiger in Afrikaans. They're given this name because they are known to defend themselves fiercely when cornered, and are known to be couragous. They're known to be highly unsociable, and seek refuge at the slightest disturbance.

Inspiration: Black-Footed Cat

The black-footed cat (Felis nigripes), also called small-spotted cat, is the smallest African cat and endemic to the southwestern arid zone of Southern Africa. The black-footed cat is the smallest wild cat in Africa and rivals the rusty-spotted cat as the world's smallest wild cat.

Despite its name, only the pads and underparts of the cat's feet are black. The cat has a stocky build with rounded ears, large eyes, and short black-tipped tail. The fur varies in color from cinnamon-buff to tawny, and is patterned with black or brown spots that merge to form rings on the legs, neck, and tail. These patterns provide the animals with camouflage; the backs of their ears, however, are the same color as the background color of their fur. Unlike other spotted cats, the Black-Footed cat has non-pigmented skin.

Black-footed cats are solitary and strictly nocturnal animals, thus rarely seen. They spend the day resting in dense cover in unoccupied burrows of springhares, porcupines, and aardvarks, or in hollow termite mounds. They emerge to hunt after sunrise.

Unlike most other cats, black-footed cats are poor climbers, and will generally ignore tree branches. Their stocky bodies and short tails are not conducive to tree-climbing. They dig vigorously in the sand to extend or modify burrows for shelter.

Personality: Miershoth might be a small green, but she is more than the sum of her parts. This small lady isn't afraid of anything or anyone, and she will have no trouble standing up to those who are triple her size. If she feels they are in the wrong, Miershoth won't hesitate to tell them as much, and strike down those who might do her, or her rider, harm. She is the sort to back down when a fight is at hand; she will chew others up, and strike them down as she best sees fit. Miershoth is a green who is on a mission, and that mission is to rise up.

If Treth can rise up the ladder, than so can Miershoth. Not because she feels she can do a better job, oh no! But because with power comes importance, and with importance, control. This dragon is a green who is incredibly protective of her rider, clutchmates, and Weyr. She might not be the most affectionate or gentlest of greens, but in her hearts, she wants to ensure that they are safe, they are secure, and they needn't worry. For you see, Miershoth doesn't like it when she can't be the one in control. She truly feels that if she had more power and more sway, she could better the Weyr. If she were a little bit more important and relied upon, perhaps she could better ensure her loved ones success.

The downside is, with more power, the more controlling she becomes. If her rider isn't firm with Miershoth, the green might well find herself with no friends, no alliances, and her rise up the ranks would be all for naught. There is a fine line between being protective and being over-protective, and Miershoth runs over it daily. She is the sort of green whose hearts are in the right place, but she has about as much softness as stone. She certainly means well, telling other what to do, demanding they listen because she has the plans, but whether or not she's a leader that others would want to follow, or a leader that simply uses force to get to the top, remains to be seen. When life starts to spiral out of her control, this green starts to get desperate, and that's when she starts to make mistakes or bad calls. Her rider will need to be the one to keep Miershoth in control, and is one of very few who can keep the green in line. Thankfully, Miershoth has enough sense to know not to backtalk dragons who rank her, because she does desperately want to be seen as someone capable, but dealing with her peers and those she thinks are beneath her can cause her some trouble.

Power-hunger aside, Miershoth will have a reputation for being hard-working. She can back up some of her talk with action, and won't hesitate to push her rider and clutchmates on their drills and formations. Practice makes perfect, and she will ensure they work harder than most. If her rider loses confidence, they will find their green there to lean upon, and lift them up. She's a fierce creature, unafraid of pain, or toil, and willing to face down danger no matter the odds. During Threadfall, she will be known for taking risks to save others, and while that might sometimes cause contention between her and her Wingleader, she isn't the sort to back down. Miershoth knows what's right, and won't ever stop protecting those in need.

Positive Traits: Hard-working, Fierce, Brave
Negative Traits: Over-Protective, Controlling, Power-Hungry

Bone Egg: A small egg that isn't here to take any of your s**t. There's a sharpness to this egg, so beware any who draw too near.

Adult Size: 18'
Physical Attributes: Terribly small for a green, Miershoth is agile and swift. She will know how to cut down Thread and can easily turn on wingtip to catch a rogue strand. Small and sleek, her headknobs and tail are a little on the short side, but that doesn't bring her down! Her poor stamina, unfortunately, will, ad she will always struggle to keep up with some of the larger and more average sized greens.

Additional Notes: Miershoth is a fierce green and she doesn't give her hearts out freely. She tends to prefer a small circle of close friends, and Faranth help any dragon who tries to capture her heart. Her flights will be quick affairs; hardly a full fifteen minutes in the air, but she will run any chases ragged trying to catch her.

Miershoth will likely prefer those she knows as opposed to strangers, but even then, they won't be welcome on her ledge for long. Only those she truly loves and respect might she invite to linger, a high honor indeed.

Night time is her favorite time of day, and she tends to stay up late with her thoughts. When it's time to rise, many of her flights will happen well after the sun has gone down.

Impression Effect: Despite having Impressed to a fierce and independent green, Huawar is going to find that his cynacism post-Impression will be significantly lessened. While he might still be wounded by the response (or lack there of ) from Henwas' death, it need not weigh him down as it currently does or color his world-view with so much suspicion. Mistakes were made, but Impression will leave a renewed clarity; just as he now Miershoth cannot live without him, as a rider, and a potential leader, he cannot lead without listening and allowing in the voices and counsel of others. He can still be independent and aloof, but he need not be quite as mistrusting.

Why Me? Huarwar (BastetAmun)

Miershoth and Huarwar are a perfect match. The first thing that drew this green was Huarwar's ambition; not only was he blind to color, but he was ready to rise up in the ranks. Where Huarwar once relied on Henwas, he can now lean upon Miershoth when the going gets rough. If he wants to prove to the world he is strong and capable, than Miershoth will ensure they climb that ladder, using every trick in the book. How can anyone doubt his strength when he has such a capable and fierce green at his side? No one will ever do so again, not on her wash!

Honestly, Miershoth is a bit of a know-it-all, or at least seems to think that her way is the best way. She is a very controlling green, and hates it when things happen that she didn't plan on, or when things don't go her way. She has a bad habit of writing others off that she doesn't have a use for, which is where Huarwar's compassion might come in. Huarwar is a bit of a softer heart, and that heart will be needed to keep Miershoth in line. He will need to be firm with her, lest this green sass the wrong dragon and wind up in nothing but trouble. If she's ever to rise up or become a dependable leader, she will need to soften her sharp edges and her need for control. Leaders don't just dictate and command; they need compaaions, which Huarwar has in droves, and loyalty to more than one another. Huarwar has that innate softness, or at least enough morals to keep her from turning into an actual fiend. She's not a bad green, she just has a strong will, and needs a strong rider to help keep her in line. Huarwar has learned what happens when he doesn't stand up to those who need to be--hopefully, he will be able to stand up to his own Miershoth when she begins to get out of line.

His ambition, paired with her hard-working nature, at their best, means that they will be a great asset to their Weyr and Wing. They can be counted on to follow through, and when given a chance, will have ample opportunities to prove themselves. Huarwar need never be alone again, with Miershoth at his side... and Miershoth will always defer to Huarwar's more sensible judgments. They may not always be easy to get to know, but those who work at it will find no better allies.

Firelizards

User ImageName: Henwas
Age: Adult

Personality: A brave and stubborn little flit, Henwas does his best to be a slight shield to Huarwar, though the other does not need it like he did before. Aggressive to those who Huarwar does not feel comfortable around, or those who wish to harm his bonded, Henwas will attack without any preamble. He also has a habit of posturing, making a show of how strong he is. Aside from being aggressive, Henwas is actually a pretty well behaved little flit for a hatchling and he had helped Huarwar have something else to lean on, aside from just Aleyx.

History: C'ryn gave Huarwar a firelizard egg he had bought as a gift when he visited High Reaches Weyr after the death of this twin. The egg happened to hatch when Huarwar was talking to himself as if his twin was there. The little brown flit just so happened to hear Henwas name and figured that was what he was to be called, Huarwar cannot get him to answer to anything else.
