"You asked me five years ago if this is what I wanted to do with my life. All that time passed, and I've never strayed from the course. So trust me. I will become a huntsman."
Elliot had been rather confident that his companion would have his back, after all she had managed to make it into Beacon, but was rather shocked when she had missed her shot on the Boarbatusk. I guess I can't really complain too much. I've never really tried to use ammunition much. I doubt I'd really hit anything if I tried. Elliot thought to himself as the woman suddenly came down from the trees and landed right beside him. Watching her embed her spear into the ground, Elliot was sure she'd be able to simply send the Boarbatusk flying away. When the collided, however, he was surprised that she was knocked back by it, becoming a bit uneasy about the current situation. "Are you all riiiiiiyikes!" Elliot began with an attempt to ascertain whether or not his companion was okay but quickly had to dodge a swipe from the Beowolf. Apparently it had closed the gap between the two of them when the Boarbatusk was rushing Elliot. "You're getting a bit too frisky there, bud!" Elliot called out as he dodge backwards, jumping backwards slightly while keeping his boxing-style stance.
After a few second of observing the Grimm, he decided to address the young woman, seeing as how he would have to rely on her to help him in this situation. It was one thing to fight a bunch of the same Grimm, but there were just too many differences between the three of these creatures to fight by oneself. "You said you got the Boarbatusk, right?" Elliot called out to her, turning his face slightly towards her direction. "I'll leave him to you, so you just leave getting your spear back to me!" He called out to her with his face still slightly tilted towards her. "I'm sure you've got this!" He stated rather confidently, giving a slight smile from the edge of his face. In reality, he was scared stiffless that he would have to deal with the Ursa that was towering over her spear. Just the sight of it made him want to puke with anxiety. There's no way I can stop now though. He thought to himself. With a few seconds of indecision between him and the Grimm, there was suddenly a blur as the young man quickly dashed from right to left in a diagonal pattern.
The Boarbatusk seemed rather confused about how to charge him, given the mobility he was displaying, but the Beowolf knew exactly how to charge the young man. Unfortunately, it was playing his game, and Elliot was in full control of his movements. As it barreled towards him and launched itself, Elliot slid his body underneath the creature, much like he had done to the one earlier. "And now..." He began, watching as the Boarbatusk began charging him due to his linear movement. "Up and over!" He shouted out, punching the ground to his side and activating the mechanism in his gauntlet. The result was that it propelled him upwards, giving him a spin as he launched himself over the Boarbatusk. It had the added bonus of the thing running into the Beowolf, although neither were really hurt by the collision. Elliot rolled on the ground a bit before he managed to catch himself and begin barreling towards the Ursa in the back. He could hear the creature let out a roar as he neared it, obviously ready to take down the prey the had found. "Sorry, but I don't got time right now!" He stated, moving his body under one of its swings and punching the other arm out of the way.
The creature was tough enough to force him back quite a bit. "I'm not too good with you guys. You're way too strong for you own good." He muttered to himself as he weaved in and out of its range. "Guess I just gotta chance it!" He stated as he slid under an attack, his foot colliding with the spear and knocking it up into the air. "Hey! Catch!" He shouted to his new teammate, popping himself up into the air and punching the hilt of the spear. As a result, the weapon was hurled towards Hildr, although at a cost. Elliot was knocked way backwards by the Ursa, seeing as how he was in midair and could not properly dodge. While the young man did roll off of it, it was very clear that he had been injured by the attack. "Ow... that smarts." He mentioned, holding his rib cage while getting back on his feet. Just believe in her. She's got this. Just focus on your enemy. He thought to himself, looking back towards the Ursa as it towered over him.
spaceOpal heard a series off growling not too far ahead of her. She paused for a moment and ducked behind a tree, waiting to hear if they were approaching her or not. Peeking out from behind her temporary shield, Opal didn't hear them coming in her direction, so likely they were stopped by someone else. Maybe it was Carmine, but what if it was someone else? No matter. The redhead took off running in that direction and circled around so as to not run directly into the mouths of Beowolves. As she approached the scene, she heard a fight happening; so they had engaged someone else. The wicked creak of a Grimm mask breaking cracked through the area. Opal stopped again and heard nothing now. The young woman started running there again and told herself that, even if this wasn't Carmine, they could at least hold their own in a fight. She slowed her pace to an even jog when the treeline started to thin a bit. A familiar voice shouting her name drew her attention and she whipped her head to the side, a pair of scattering Grimm fading into the sky. The pair met in the middle and Opal rested her hand on her partner's shoulder, making a point to lock eyes with her, a smile painted across her lips.
space"Nice to see you, partner." She squeezed her fierce friend's shoulder before letting her arm drop to her side again. At Carmine's admission of feeling nervous, Opal glanced back at the steadily disappearing Grimm, then looked back to Carmine. Why was she nervous? The pale-haired girl could clearly hold her own out here. Maybe she shared Opal's nerves of "what if I don't find her?" The thought flattered Opal. Even though they vowed to find each other today, Opal had a nagging doubt in the back of her mind that begged otherwise, "If you're nervous about the Grimm, I think you'll be just fine. It certainly is refreshing seeing you, though. I'm glad we found each other so easily." Her companion's excited demeanor was something Opal was pleased to see. Carmine was excited yesterday, but this seemed more... free and open than that. It was like she wasn't holding back.
space"Oh, oh yes, I took care of that. It was only one and it was a juvenile. If that's all we have to worry about, this is going to be easy, so I'm sure there's stronger ones out here too. If it was easy, it wouldn't be a test." She chuckled nervously, not exactly great at taking credit. Her ears twisted to the left as she picked up a rustling noise in the distance, "Did you hear that?" As soon as she spoke her last word, a loud howl broke through the air, breaking trees and heavy stomps following. Opal snapped her head in that direction. Another one? "They just keep coming, don't they?" An Alpha Beowolf emerged from the treeline, perched on its hind legs as it released another ear-piercing howl. Those two Carmine took out must have been in its pack. This place was littered with Grimm, though that was to be expected. As it took off running towards them, Opal lunged forward and slammed her gauntlet-laden fist into the side of the beasts's head, sending it flying a few meters to the right and into a series of trees.
spaceShe turned her attention to Carmine, then. They had just found each other and a Grimm chooses to attack. Of course. Well, at least their camaraderie would be tested so early on. Opal was sure they would be compatible fighters and this would only help solidify that. The Alpha Beowolf shook its head as it stood up, hunched over on its hind legs again, steadying itself for another attack, "I'll distract it, you take it out!" She called out to Carmine, suggesting her plan before running at the creature again, mashing the button to turn her gauntlet into a javelin. She jumped up at the Beowolf, letting out a cry as she lunged her weapon into its shoulder, vaulting back behind it. As she moved through the air, she pulled Andraste out of the Grimm's shoulder, landing with one knee on the ground to steady her. The creature cried out and swatted at her before she could stand back up to ready herself. When she rolled out of the way and avoided that assault, the Grimm used its other hand to mirror its previous attack, catching Opal off guard. It had her pinned to the ground, now, but Opal was able to shrink her javelin down then extend it out, piercing straight through the Grimm's clawed hand. She twisted her spear, effectively holding it hostage as it did the same to her. She had full faith that her partner would take out this beast.

CRIMSON ARMATO -Student- --Beacon Academy-- ~The Heiress to Nihility and Hyperbole~
For what felt like half an hour Crimson continued along pushing through some thickets and under branches. Trying not to mess up her hair more than the wind already had. Damn... landed too soon... everyone is gonna be much further ahead of me... I really shouldn't have to do this, I'm ....
With a small shrug she began running forward now at a sort of jog pace speeding up slightly. Her armour wasn't stealthy in the lightest as she ran over and through bushes and shrubs trying to stick to clearings all she could. "Damn trees!" She cursed out as she tried to wrap her hair up while running into a sort of ponytail not watching her front with any more than peripheral vision before a person's frame came into view. Stopping quickly and dropping her hair scrambling for her sword she dug one of her boots into a cluster of roots and made the ever most gentle but heavy tripping motion as she landed on her front flat in the somewhat softer dirt with a heavy and solid THUD.
Landing flat and hard, her ankle at a slight forward angle it shouldn't probably be in especially in armored boots. She laid there for half a second before raising her head and half way pulling her sword from the sheath on her back before she got eyes of who it was. "Oh.... oh it's you..." She said before fully pulling the blade out and digging it into the dirt as she raised herself to her knees leaning forward on her sword as she locked eyes. Her ankle still ensnared in the roots.

spaceYesterday had been a series of introductions, small talk, and rhetorical questions about their future in this academy. It was all very tiring. While he liked being social, it was also a drain on his energy levels to be so conversation heavy. The amount of sleep he got last night wasn't enough to bring him back to life, per say, but it would be enough. Arms crossed, eyes trained ahead of him, and weapons neatly tucked into their sheaths, Sage awaited the commencement of their day. He only truly wanted to come to Beacon about a year ago, so he never expected himself to be here. It was all so sudden. Well, at least it felt that way, but he wanted to make his father and his lineage proud. The Tempest warriors timeline would not end with him. He even wanted to return to Atlas one day, be with his father and the brotherhood again, learn how to teach all their lessons. A wave of optimism crashed over him. This would be easy. Out of habit, the young man rested his hands on top of his weapons.
spaceHeadmaster Ozpin stepped forward after a few moments, alerting the line of students to the ongoings of the day. He offered a few uplifting phrases and luck, warning them against the dangers lurking in the forest, giving them his vote of confidence in the end. Then, he offhandedly mentioned them being propelled into the sky. He almost looked... pleased about it. Immediately, Sage braced himself, being one of the first to get launched through the air. He stayed head first, arms tucked tightly at his sides so he could get as far as possible. Falling through the sky was exhilarating, he had to be honest. A smile broke out on his face as the wind whipped at his cheeks. As the trees started to get bigger, Sage shot his arms out and straightened out, like he was standing up. He slowed himself down and took out his dual scythes, twirling them around his fingers as he broke through the treeline head first. He flipped the scythes upside down and as he approached the ground as a fast rate. He waited until he was about fifty feet above the ground and fired a shot, lighting cracking when the bullet made contact with the ground, buffering his landing speed.
spaceAnother shot, another lighting crash, another buffer. Sage activated his semblance and made his armor light as a feather, helping to soften his landing, planting his feet firmly against the ground. He smiled to himself and let out a chuckle, sending his gaze up to where he'd just fallen from. There was a path of broken tree limbs and two distinct, blackened dents in the ground. In the far distance, a Beowolf howl echoed through the trees. It was far away enough that he needn't worry. Sage took a moment to survey the area, though, reminded that Grimm could be anywhere in this forest. Seeing nothing of note, the knight decided which direction he should head in and started running that way. He wasn't sure where the temple would be honestly. He was just moving on a gut feeling. He chose not to activate his semblance again and just dealt with the weight of his armor. It was lightweight anyway, and his legs were free of any, so he had freedom of movement. A quickened jog through the forest wasn't too bad; he was light on his feet.
spaceAs he was running, a surround-sound hissing filled the air. Sage stopped running and immediately threw his arm above his head, just in time for a set of fangs to clamp around it. The white half of a King Taijitu lifted Sage off the ground from its place curled in the trees, flinging him in the air and into its mouth completely. After a few seconds of thinking it gained its next kill, Sage activated his semblance and made himself as heavy as he could, around half a ton. The King Taijitu's head slammed into the ground below, a sick crack sounding off. A scythe appeared out of the front of the creature's mouth, soon joined by its twin, cutting outward to create a hole. Sage kicked up against the roof of the Grimm's mouth to open his newly formed doorway, stepping out with a cool expression, not at all perturbed by his situation. He simply looked for the other half of the creature, 'I didn't expect one of these to be in the trees.'
spaceA hissing screech rang out and Sage decided to run, pressing forward in his path. He looked over his shoulder and saw the black half of the King Taijitu chasing him, circling around trees and moving so fast it wasn't touching the ground. Sage jumped up and turned around, fully facing the serpent, he fired off three rounds from the sawed off shotguns on the ends of his scythes. He had three rounds left now, one in the left and two in the right. He had to conserve his bullets now. Thankfully, the blasts slowed the Taijitu down enough to allow Sage to plant his feet on the ground. Using his semblance, he made himself light and jumped into the air as the serpent shook it off and sped towards him again. He shot into the ground and propelled himself into the air, making himself heavy to crash down onto the creature's head. Sage sunk his scythes into its skull, stopping its struggle and winning this battle.
spaceThe knight jumped off of the Grimm's skull, landing on the ground next to it. His head reached the creature's eye and suddenly he was aware as to how big it was. With their fast movements and speedy fight, it looked a lot smaller. As it started to scatter, Sage placed a hand on its rough skin, closing his eyes in a mock prayer, "Scatter kindly, and don't return, stay at rest until the end of time." He opened his eyes and it was halfway gone, the other half undoubtedly in the same shape. Sage picked up his quick jog again, heading in the direction he'd initially chosen to search. What did this temple even look like? He pondered on the thought as he entered the forest's dense treeline again, this time more on the lookout for any hidden enemies. He reloaded his guns as he jogged along, half regular bullets, half dust-filled parties.

β°β±β°β±β°β±β°β±β°β±β°β±β°β± Carmine could only grin when Opal planted her hand on her shoulder. "Heheheh, you too!" Truly, this would be a lot easier working with someone with whom she was comfortable communicating. Comfortable and good were two different things, however. Perhaps she really should've specified what it was she'd been nervous about. With an awkward smile on her face, Carmine shook her head. "It's not the grimm. I was starting to get afraid someone would find you before I could!" She shrugged. "I'm glad too!" This meant they'd be spending the rest of the semester, no, the rest of their school term together. Lucky me to get someone who seems amiable! Though I wonder how the rest of the teams will be determined. Aren't there four members? Carmine's smile remained as Opal explained the ursa. Despite her modesty about the situation, she was obviously plenty capable of handling herself in a fight. Good tempered and capable. That's one heck of a teammate if Carmine could ask for one.
There was movement close by. She'd heard it too. Just as she opened her mouth to confirm, the howl broke her and Opal both off. It sounded like a beowolf but much, much. "An Alpha?!" Carmine spun on her heel to face the creature. "Heheh, would it be any fun other-" Once again, she was cut off by Alpha's howl. The sound was almost deafening. Were there really this many grimm in the Emerald Forest? Particularly rude ones at that... Did they just let them run around out here? The young woman braced for impact as the Alpha charged them, but Opal had more initiative, punching the thing away. Nothing but pride was on Carmine's face when she turned to meet the red head's gaze. This was the perfect chance to see what she could do in battle. More importantly, this would test their synergy in combat. "Sounds good!"I want to fight her so bad.
While Opal dashed toward the beowolf, Carmine split off to the right to flank it. She made sure to keep a careful eye on the battle in case the situation ever changed. Vito, her grandfather and trainer, had been the only other person with whom she'd taken on grimm. She wasn't incapable of reading actions, intentions, or movements, this was simply a learning experience, fighting alongside with someone else. Her teammate was doing quite well against the Alpha, but it was able to get the drop on the young woman. A brief hiss passed through Carmine's teeth as she inhaled a gasp. In the moment that her friend was pinned, her smile faded into a snarl. That was certainly one way to distract the creature, though she would've preferred one that wasn't so risky to her partner's well-being. All four shots from Flinta were enough to send her flying. Not long after, the head of the Alpha followed suit.
After crouching down, Carmine had fired her shield's ammunition while pouncing forward. She pulled the dust trigger on her primary weapon while unsheathing Skolda, the smaller sword on her belt. A flurry of fire came after the creature with a warcry as Carmine twisted in the air and slashed at its unarmored flesh. The attack relieved the grimm's head from its body and Opal from her captor. Well, for the most part. Luckily, the thing began disintegrating before falling limp on top of the poor girl, so there wasn't much to worry about. "Ah, Opal! I'm sorry! Did you end up getting injured?" Moving over to her and returning her off-hand weapon to its home, Carmine reached out her hand to her newfound teammate. If the young woman accepted her offer, she'd help pull her up to her feet. "That was pretty crazy."
"I'll protect everyone including you. Nothing is going to get in the way of that, not even me."β±β°β±β°β±β°β±β°β±β°β±β°β±β°

ΚvalrvΓ¦nn HildrhΓ‘rr ~The Valkyrie~
Thou seek the light with an outstretched hand A divine blade lies before you, So command the wake of dreams To restore the world, cut βway the seams
Kaldrvindr ΓΈr-indi, ofan bjarghΓ‘lfr VindrblΓ‘sa ofholdalr Sky rjΓΊfadagr, koma faragrey Vita ΓΎekkja, Hildrharr kvΓ‘ma
Hildr flew backwards through the air, utterly surprised by the force that the Boarbatusk delivered. She braced herself for the ground and rolled herself into a ball. When she hit the ground she spun backwards, unravelling her body to a stand. Her final step backwards collided with the trunk of a tree, forcing the wind out of her body if only for a moment until her aura quickly helped her to gather herself. She blinked, then noticed Elliot surrounded by the three foul creatures of Grimm. As he looked over his shoulder to speak to her she took in a breath and listened. Her eyes looking from him, then to the Grimm and back again. She gave her an affirmative nod as the edge of his vision crossed path with hers. "Right!" She replied, balling her hands into fists, digging her fingers into her palms as she did so with such force her skin would bruise if not for her aura. Her spear was far away, directly beside that Ursa to be exact, but she trusted him. They've just met but she believed he had the skill to get himself to her spear safely and get out before anything too bad can happen. As he looked away Hildr took in another breath, filling her lungs up as full as she could. I've just got to wait for my spear - then I can't let him down Hildr thought, watching Elliot as he began moving left and right very quickly.
Hildr watched with bated breath, her eyes scouring every movement, waiting for the moment to move. The Beowolf and Boarbatusk collided in a spectacular fashion, just as Elliot had predicted, Hildr imagined. He then began charging for the Ursa, and Hildr got ready. It's just an Ursa, a Boarbatusk and a Beowolf. Nothing I haven't trained for. She watched as Elliot dodged the Ursa and finally made it to her spear, kicking it up and following it into the air. NOW Hildr told herself, jetting off from her spot on the ground. "As you say!" Hildr replied, jumping into the air to catch her spear in the sky. Feeling her hand wrap around it and catch on the trigger felt like she was complete again. In the air she spun Herja, keeping the lengthy trigger hooked around her fingers as the rest of the metal shifted. With a flick it all clicked into place and she aimed her sniper rifle downwards at the Beowolf. She fired three shots exactly and each one hit it's mark, the final one blowing the Grimm away. She landed on the ground with a roll, noticing as she stood that the Ursa had hurled Elliot away, she didn't have to watch him land, a twinge in her skull made her scowl at the spinning Boarbatusk ahead of her. With a tilt of her head she began marching forwards and as the Boarbatusk got close she hurled herself over it like a pencil, watching it's body flash beneath her. When she landed she swung out her sniper and fired an Ice Dust bullet. It exploded over the Boarbatusk and immobilised it within spikes of ice. "No more spinning!" she could've yelled, turning away, hoping the ice would keep it in place as she turned her attention to the Ursa that was now looming over Elliot, ready to strike.
Hildr moved quickly, firing her sniper rifle behind her for some recoil, enough to throw her forwards and began running without any build up. She swung her spear up, shifting it into spear mode just before she reached the Ursa. With all her momentum she bent her knees, skidding beneath the Grimm's legs, slashing it's inner leg on her way through. When she came face to face with Elliot Hildr pivoted, coming to a stop and slashing upwards with Herja, releasing a charge of Air Dust with her strike to force the creature backwards, though it's weight was still mighty enough to keep it from falling over. As the Ursa began to steady itself she brought her spear backwards, pulling a different trigger as the entire weapon began to shorten and collapse in on itself. With another swing she spun the shortening spear around her neck, gliding it over her shoulders. One half remained in her palm, the other met her other hand over her other shoulder. With her arms now crossed and a sword in each hand she swung both arms out, reflecting a strike from the Ursa as it came back for her. Hildr struck back again, and then spun several times as she let loose a volley of horizontal attacks on the Grimm, each one loaded with Ice Dust, freezing it a little piece at a time with each strike until the final one hit centre and locked it all together. "Are you okay?!" Hildr asked over her shoulder, holding her swords tight.
(Every time i feel like i like her fighting technique it bothers me again. On the plus side, im thinking about giving her a tall shield at some point...)

"You asked me five years ago if this is what I wanted to do with my life. All that time passed, and I've never strayed from the course. So trust me. I will become a huntsman."
Elliot was in the middle of thinking up a plan on how to deal with the large creature before him when he suddenly heard a flurry of shots and, very quickly, Hildr had closed the gap between them. Looking behind her, he noticed that she had dealt with the other two grimm rather swiftly, having taken out the Beowolf and frozen the Boarbatusk in place. She was definitely very skilled, far more skilled than he was from the looks of it. Hildr could use dust and weapons from what it seemed like. Dang. I was right to leave it to her then. He thought to himself, smiling a little bit as she unleashed a barrage of attacks on the poor Ursa in front of him. It was interesting to watch her weapons shift form like they did, splitting into two swords. She can use swords too!? Just how many fighting styles does this girl got!? He thought to himself, utterly shocked at the display of skill that she was showing. Additionally, it seemed like she was still using dust in the middle of her attacks judging from how the Ursa was slowly being frozen in place as the two fought.
When the girl had finished with the creature, he was surprised to hear the concern in her voice. After a few seconds of hesitation, the young man gave a rather simple reply. "Yeah, I'm fine. He just caught me when my guard was down is all. My Aura'll take care of it." He said, trying to reassure the young woman as he stared at the immobile Ursa. Maybe he should try practicing with dust some more. It seemed to be pretty effective in dealing with the larger Grimm that usually proved to be problems. His eyes casually glanced across the defeated Beowolf, the impaled Boarbatsuk, and the now-frozen Ursa that stood inside their little patch of forest. Turning back to the young woman, he decided to try and speak a little bit more. "I've never really thought things through before. I just kinda... go with the flow, ya know? Sorry if I scared you or anything. Not used to having a partner." He mentioned, not sure how to explain his rashness. That had always been the case, however, and Taiyang had pointed out on a few occasions that his recklessness might cause him a bit of trouble.
"Anyway, um..." Elliot began, not sure how to properly say what was on his mind. "Thanks for the assist." He stated, blushing little bit from embarrassment. "Anyway! Those are some amazing weapons you got there! So what's their primary form? Is it the spear, or the two swords that make up the spear? Or is it the sniper rifle? Did you make it yourself? Can it only fire ice dust or any kind?" He began to badger the young woman with questions about he weapon, wanting to know as much about it as possible. The item was rather unique, and it seemed to be very versatile compared to most weaponry. "And are they still guns when they're swords?" He added, a final question coming to mind as he tried to collect his thoughts about the situation. Maybe having this person as a partner would not be so bad, and they had excellent taste in weaponry considering their sick moves. "Sorry if I'm being a bit too... eheh." Elliot mentioned, laughing a little bit as he did not really know the proper way to describe how he was acting currently.
(I think it's pretty cool. But adding in a shield would also be pretty interesting. Would it have any special mechanisms to it?)
"Dwelling on things just isn't healthy. You gotta live in the moment if you wanna keep moving forward, yeah?"

Hildr turned around, leaving the Ursa behind her to grumble in several useless attempts to break free from the ice. Thank goodness it was only an Ursa minor, she would not be turning her back on a major. "I am glad" Hildr responded, giving a reassuring smile. The guy seems alright, and she was sure he was. He showed to be very fast and strong with those gauntlets. "Oh, no. That was my fault, I apologise. It was careless of me to let my spear slip." Hildr replied, attempting to take the blame for the mess of a situation that happened. She knew that she had a tendency to.. act on impulse if she saw someone might be in danger. Her mother, Kala, had told her before that sometimes her own safety had to come first. But to be honest, Hildr had a hard time accepting that.
Hildr took a few steps closer, forgetting about the Ursa for a moment as Elliot got up and went on about something else. "My pleasure" Hildr said, smiling, "It's what us Hildrharr's do best." As Elliot went off on a tangent about weapons, she couldn't help but be surprised at first, but quickly mellowed to the topic. "Well..." she said, looking down at her swords, "Herja is firstly a spear, and then a sniper rifle. But the way it collapses means that I can quickly go between spear and swords quickly." As for remaining guns whilst they're in sword mode, she shrugged putting the hilts together. She then spun then and Herja reverted to spear mode. "That's something I'm still working on. The dust mechanism changes to run through the blades in sword form, rather than through the barrel which is - well - cut in half, and not horizontally, either." Hildr remembered designing her spear, when she melted down the metal from her grandmother's original weapon. There were a few complications, and she took in little help from her father who attempted to tell her what the best way was. But she was ambitious, perhaps over zealous in her design too. "Talkative, interested, perhaps? Well, I guess there's no time better than now to get to know each other" Hildr gestured behind her, "even if we do have a half-frozen Ursa behind us."
(So far no, i've debated making the shield a second sword rather than the spear splitting. But the main function would be that she can use the top of the shield, or a hole at the top, as a way of resting her rifle/spear on it for extra sturdy attacks. The Shield would also be able to go smaller so that she might hold her sniper rifle properly without it's size getting in the way.)

"You asked me five years ago if this is what I wanted to do with my life. All that time passed, and I've never strayed from the course. So trust me. I will become a huntsman."
"Hm... I think I could help you figure it out if you want. I'm pretty good at messing with weapons. Just look at these bad boys!" Elliot exclaimed, picking up his gauntlets and punching them together as a means to show them off. "My sis gave me one of her old ones and a new one. What I did, though, is I ran out and modified them as much as I could. Got the old one working and added in a pulse mechanism. Allows me to hit things extra hard and punch through defenses a lot easier. Recoil took some getting used to though." Elliot trailed off a little bit close to the end during his explanation. He was obviously rather proud of his gauntlets. "What I'm trying to say, though, is that I could definitely help you figure out how to make it work. That is, if you trust me with your weapons at all." Elliot mentioned, letting out a little laugh since he knew that a stranger would hardly trust someone they just met with something so delicate. "Gotta say though, they're pretty cool as they are now. I don't really think there's any point in messing with them." He stated, giving her a rather confident smile.
At a growl from the Ursa, however, his attention was brought back to the situation at hand. After waiting to hear out her response, the young man simply pointed out that they should probably get away from these scene soon. "If we stick around here too long, I'm sure more of the Grimm will show up. That guy's making a bunch of noise, after all. I'm surprised they didn't immediately come running here after the initial battle." Elliot mentioned, looking around a little bit before he turned his attention back to Hildr. "I guess the other Grimm are a bit too busy with the other students. Guess that means we're lucky, huh?" Elliot stated, nudging Hildr with his elbow a little bit to try and brighten up the mood a little. "I'm seriously at a loss for where we should probably head though. I assumed we'd be traveling away from the mountains to find the temple, but I've been running quite a bit and haven't seen anything since we started. I'm starting to lose faith that there's even anything in this forest at all." Elliot mentioned, sighing a little bit at the lack of progress that had been made in the trial.
His attention, however, came back to Hildr as he thought for a few moments. "You didn't happen to come across anything suspicious-looking, did you?" He asked, curious to know if the woman may have caught a glimpse of the temple on her way through the forest. The young man had simply dashed away before the two of them had properly communicated, and he was curious to know if she was simply being polite earlier when she asked him if he knew the way. "Because if you got a clue, I'm all open to suggestions. I kinda don't wanna run into a bunch a monsters again like this time." He mentioned, rubbing the back of his head as he let out a light laugh. Their current situation, to him at least, was a little bit humorous. It was sort of like a blind man leading another blind man.
(Why not make it kinda work like Jaune's shield. Then you could probably pull off that combo pretty well. And make the spear kind of more like Pyrrah's? That way it could be a sword in a spear as well for dual swords?)
"Dwelling on things just isn't healthy. You gotta live in the moment if you wanna keep moving forward, yeah?"

Noir Alcott
Noir was running for awhile, he began to huff from exhaustion and slowed down thinking he got away from the pack of beowulfs from earlier. He found a stump nearby and sat down on top of it to get his breath. Taking the chance, he looked into the mementos again for a few moments before putting it back into the armor, thinking about how both of his parents would do. His father was easy but his mother was different though, "I wonder what I should do if I was in her shoes? Well, I know she always used all of her skills, so maybe I should but I need Oz's approval. This is though, no wonder you were worried about me dad." He huffed thinking about how tough things are outside of the forest he lived in, remembering the simple life hunting with his friendly grimm. However, his thoughts were interrupted when some beowulfs showed up, "Oh come on, only six of you?" Before he was able to say anymore, four Ursa's came out of some tall bushes from the opposite side of him, "Ok, ok, Ursa's as well, no big deal." But then three Boarbatusks came out from behind him looking for a fight, "Ok........time for my super secret technique." He went into a fighting stance with is sword in his right hand, but before the creatures of grimm could attack he started to run and put his sword away at the same time shouting "RUN AWAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!"
Due to this, they started to chase him and unfortunately, started to attract more grimm making the small pack into a giant horde and started chasing Noir started weaving through tree's, climbing them like a monkey, even had to hide behind and underneath boulders for a few seconds as the creatures chased or looked for him. The chased seemed to last for oddly enough a few minutes as to Noir it was like seconds as he ran into a guy who was walking near a hill, but the impact sent them tumbling down the hill followed by Boarbatusk's, Ursa's, then finally Beowulf's that they stopped rolling but the creatures kept rolling into a river and flowed right down a waterfall. Noir could only say to the fellow student, "Uh, sorry for that but I guess we are partners......I think. Also, do you think that was odd that happened and this is a guy who lived in a forest for a large part of his life." He said this looking dumb stricken under his facemask do to the fact how all of that happened and got out of that unscathed was more odd if you count the fall and getting hurt during the tumble with his partner.
spaceOpal fashioned her spear under her armpit and wrapped her elbow around the other side, getting a decent grip on it but freeing that hand at the same time. She reached up and grabbed the top of the beast's head, twisting her fingers in its unbelievably coarse fur, pulling it up and away from her, "You disgusting creature." rumbled maliciously from her throat; she hated Grimm. The redhead pushed her javelin, still stuck through the creature's hand, in the opposite direction that she was pulling its head. She was effectively holding it in a lock. Opal cast her gaze outward now and tried to locate Carmine. When she did, the look in her partner's eyes was of pure carnage. To say Opal was shocked was a sheer understatement; she didn't even know Carmine could make such an angry face.
spaceWatching Carmine propelling herself towards them made Opal proud to be her teammate. Seeing the girl's wide smile, her anxiety in large crowds, Opal truly never expected such a fierce warrior out of her. A skilled fighter, yes, but the power behind her war cry... it was admirable. At the sight of fire pouring from her blade, Opal flattened herself against the ground as much as she could. The air around her briefly heated up and brought a few beads of sweat to her forehead. But soon, the heat was gone and her arm holding the Grimm's head went slack. She looked up to see its head perfectly separated from its body, having popped off in her hand. It faded away faster than the rest of the body. By the time Opal tossed it, it was only a scalp. The redhead used the creature's body weight and her javelin to toss it aside. Suddenly, a hand was in her face accompanied by an apology. Opal looked back to her friend and smiled, seeing that her expression had lightened up again.
spaceOpal took Carmine's hand, using her help to stand once again. Her eyes fell to the dissipating Grimm. The fact that the two of them could take down an Alpha Beowolf so easily was promising. Opal only hoped that their other teammates would be just as capable. She stuck her javelin into the ground to wipe the dirt off of herself, "Oh no, I'm alright, don't worry. You were great!" Opal turned her attention back to her pale-haired companion and took her javelin in hand again, plucking it from the ground with a grin, "Crazy, indeed. I'm glad I got to see your weapons put to use! And so up close and personal. Very cool. You look like you were born with a sword in your hand." As she spoke, she took a rag from a pouch on her belt and wiped down Andraste, then stowed the rag away. When she finished speaking, the faunus looked over her shoulder, voicing her opinion once again, "It looks like there's a break in the trees up ahead. I have a feeling that's where the temple is." She looked back to Carmine and thrust her thumb over her shoulder to indicate the direction, giving Carmine time to agree.
spaceBefore the two started walking, Opal took a step closer to Carmine, pointing her index finger up in the air matter-of-factly, "Sorry if this is weird, but you were beautiful flying through the air with your sword of fire. It's a good look." She winked at the other girl and turned with a smile, walking in the direction that she thought the temple would be. She rested her javelin on her shoulder, tapping it down twice as she smiled. Carmine and she had an almost natural coordination, only having to say a few words between them to attain their goal. It made her look forward to their future fights together. Not just today's fights, but for the rest of their time at Beacon Academy.

spaceSage had been walking for a while now since he took down the King Taijitu. It was oddly quiet in the forest and it had Sage expecting anything at any moment. He was surprised by the Taijitu before, he wouldn't let that happen again. The young man held his hands open in from of his chest and looked at them thoughtfully. His hands had long stopped blistering from his weapon use, but there were scars across both palms from his blood oath to the brotherhood. The scars were faded now. Though, they still held a significance with Sage. His trained expression softened for a moment, but hardened again without a beat. He gripped his hands into fists and let them drop to his sides. He would honor his family name, his heritage, what they stood for... he would... he... "What in the world is that noise?" The young knight's train of thought was broken as a deep rumbling grew caught his attention.
spaceIt sounded like... well, he couldn't quite place the sound, but the fact that the ground was shaking was alarming. Sage stopped walking and looked at his surroundings. The sound only grew louder as time passed, and it was approaching him. Before Sage had the time to draw his weapons, a heavy weight knocked him off of his feet and sent him barreling down the hill he was traveling on. As they tumbled down, Sage caught a few glimpses of whatever had ran into him. It wasn't a Grimm, but a suit of armor, well he assumed there was a person inside of the armor. It was pitch black save for the face mask. They stopped rolling at an edged clearing, but the Grimm that were apparently chasing this other person followed them. Luckily, the beasts didn't have time to adjust their positions and they continued falling down the mountain, into the moving river down below. Sage had a profoundly surprised look on his face, but with his scowl and permanent deadpan, he just looked angry. He was expecting Grimm jumping from the trees, but this?
spaceThe knight shot his head over to the other young man when he started speaking. First, he said something rather typical. They were partners it seemed. The second thing he said was so incredibly nonchalant, like this suit of armor was speaking to a lifelong friend, that it shocked Sage, "What... what just happened?" He spoke aloud rather softly, moreso speaking his thoughts than contributing to the conversation. Sage looked back out to the river to see the Grimm from before falling down a waterfall. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, currently bouncing all over the place, and turned his gaze back to his new teammate. The knight leveled an icy look at the other boy, though Sage was unaware of how mean he looked, before standing and offering him a hand.
space"I think everything about what just happened was odd." He spoke evenly, addressing the other's question. Sage helped the other boy up and looked him over, happy to get a better look at the suit, "And from what the headmaster said, we are indeed partners now." The grey-haired boy looked back at the face mask and where he assumed the other's eyes were, offering a half-smile that lightened his face right up, "That's one way to meet, I guess. My name is Sage Tempest, member of the brotherhood of knights, Atlas division. And what's the name of the man who tackled me down a hill?" There was a playfulness in Sage's voice, though his posture and face looked rather uninviting. He was a walking conundrum.

Noir stood up straight and deactivated his armor to look at his partner Sage respectfully after his partner introduced himself to Noir, "I am sorry for running into you and to answer on how it all happened, it was all because I landed right onto a Beowulf pack and killed a few of them, then I ran, figured I out ran them due to the forest was so thick and its usual for them to not go after people outside of their territory like normal animals do. I figured to rest for a few moments, then my guess they showed up, but it was also connected to a ursa and boarbatusk territory and chose to run and the noise drawn in more of them into what happened into me running into you. Please forgive me man, I didn't mean to run into you like that!" He said this in a apologetic look, hoping Sage accepts his apology.
But then, he realized he forgot to introduced himself and perked up, "Oh right, my name is Noir. Never heard of a knight order, but then again I am hearing and learning so many new things in the past two days that I cant wait to pass this mission and get into the school." He then gave a goofy grin and held out his right to give him a shake out of new friends and accepting of apology due to his own blunder. Noir may need to ask his partner about scouting out a good spot, but that is after earning his trust first.
spaceSage looked on with an impressed gaze as his new partner's armor opened up and shifted away, revealing a young man with black hair. The young man began apologizing and went on to explain what exactly happened. Sage watched him as he spoke, listening intently and honestly amazing at how the situation unfolded. He supposed launching the students into the forest would warrant one of them landing in a pack of Grimm. However unlikely, though, it seemed to happen to his own teammate. The fact that his new companion came out of all that unscathed was nothing short of impressive. He ended his little spiel by asking for his forgiveness, a deeply apologetic look on his face. How could he not forgive such a sincere man?
space"That is some story, my friend. And you already have my forgiveness. Anyone that can survive that has my respect." He gave his partner a smile and a nod of affirmation. Just as Sage was thinking he hadn't gotten a name yet, Noir introduced himself, having perked up a substantial bit. His easy attitude rubbed off on Sage as they chatted, as if they hadn't just been rolling down a hill with Grimm right behind them. He chuckled and shrugged a shoulder, rubbing the back of his neck, "Ah, yes, I hear that a lot. Knights are in short supply these days. Regardless, its nice to meet you, Noir." Sage met Noir's hand, giving him a firm handshake. Although his demeanor was friendly, Sage's face held little in the way of expression. He was rather deadpan, almost looking bored, even though he was thrilled such an interesting person was his teammate, "I've met some interesting characters, myself. I'm rather excited to get this over with as well."
spaceAs they continued their conversation, Sage cast his gaze around their surroundings, studying. He was trying to find a vantage point; that's why he was walking up the hill in the first place. He hadn't had any luck in locating the temple as of yet. It seemed wise to seek higher ground; maybe he would see a path or the temple itself. The knight didn't see any movement in the treeline, so he assumed they were safe for now at least. He turned his level gaze to Noir, "I was working on getting to the top of this hill to try and spot the temple. Care to continue down this path with me? We can probably just walk down here until it tapers off, then work up from there." Sage explained his idea and pointed in the direction he was speaking of, waiting to see what Noir wanted to do.

Tick. Tick. Tick. The blade of the hand ax left little knicks in the bark of the trees he passed. Such a small sound wouldn't alert too many nearby grim, but the pattern would be noticeable to any discerning eye. He was moving at a quick pace, walking briskly through the forest, keeping an lookout for any signs of a temple. This wasn't too different than running errands at home. There could have been more grimm piled up in this area, but who really knew? Maybe I should hurry it up. Wouldn't want to be looked at as slow if I showed up last. Not that this is a real time-sensitive mission, though. Considering in the terms of finding a good partner, maybe, but even that part was mostly up to luck. He sighed. "Thought this was going to help, but I guess not," the young man murmured as he looked back at all the marked trees. Lifting up both hands, he shrugged. "What a waste." From this point, it'd be more efficient to prepare for any sudden attacks. The grimm had been unexpectedly quiet. He turned back to the direction he'd been walking and pulled his other ax from his belt. The pair combined with a click of the handles to form the brute of an submachine gun. It was just as he'd started moving again when he heard a loud crack of brush behind him. When Mauve turned around, all he saw was the light hair that trailed after the falling person it belonged to. He couldn't help but wince at the sound her body made when it hit the earth. This is not the way I expected to meet my first partner.
"Geez, are you okay?" he asked with a worried expression as they pulled themselves up with their sword. Mauve took a moment to assess the situation, how they'd fallen, who they were. "Me?" He'd meant to hold out his hand to help but was struck with surprise when she'd said something out of recognition. Ah yes, this was the grumbly girl from last night, but had he really stood out so much that she remembered him or had they met before and he'd forgotten? "Mauve. My name's Mauve Ackles. I don't believe we've been formally introduced," he said with a smile. "Which... would be a bit of a problem considering we're teammates now." Pressing the release on Oriphiel, the one weapon became two. It seemed like she needed a little help with those roots. "If you hold still, I can cut ya loose." The boy winked, waving an ax back and forth. How did she end up getting taken down by a tree?I pray there aren't any grimm around. If we get caught distracted and prone, this won't be good at all.
