Ah, that was it, then. On land you could just smack them against a rock, but Theriar seemed to have a tool specifically for fish-killing. She took the whacker and hit the fish twice with quite a bit of force. It was likely dead on the first try, but she wanted a second just to make sure while simultaneously being careful to not splatter it all over the boat. Gulls and flies were not good fishing companions.
With that done she set the fish aside and smiled to her partner. She doubted that his life had been any more dull than hers, but a change of pace always felt like something brand-new. He'd get bored out here too."
"Will one fish be enough for us?" she asked, though she already knew the answer. Bigger people ate bigger meals, and Theriar was no youngling. Sharing one fish would leave them both unsatisfied. Still, she leaned against him a moment before picking the fishing pole up again to bait the hook. "Where do you want to eat? We could find somewhere new, or we could go home."
She did not, for the moment, realize that the line of distant clouds was creeping closer.

He too was distracted by their activities and not paying attention to the clouds as he really should, as was his job. "I don't think one fish will be enough but we have some extra food here somewhere if we miss the next fish." He looked around at the open sea not willing to travel home yet. "Lets find a new place, I think that would be exciting, a new beach with new scenery, maybe we could find another oyster farm site if we are lucky." He didn't know if she would want to set up another farm but it would still be fun to check out the beaches, he hadn't done that much exploring since coming here and he thought it would be fun to start navigating the coastlines to see what he could find with her.

"Alright, if you'd like to," Trelenwy agreed. She thought that she had found the best oyster-farming site herself, purely because she had had the time to explore before choosing a place to settle down. Of course oyster farming didn't require much careful placement. You cleared out the area and that was that. It wasn't like oysters had a lot of natural predators. If it made Theriar happy, made him feel like he was helping (the two feelings seemed to be pretty well-connected so far), they could go exploring with the thought of 'finding another site.' Of course she was always up for exploring. No matter how many times you came to a beach, there was always something new.
She threw the line over the side anyway and waited a while. It was then that she noticed the clouds, as she turned back up to look to Theriar. They weren't particularly menacing-looking, like rain clouds perhaps, but the shape and the size and the way they rolled. Her eyes widened slightly.
"I... I think we should head to land." A nice meal was now, unfortunately, the last thing on her mind.

Theriar blinked at her then looked at the sky, one eye started to twitch. "How did I not notice that coming up behind us? Yes to land it is, very fast to land." He started flitting about the boat lining things up tying ropes and flipping the sail to point in the right direction to steer them to the shore, once they got there they would button up the boat as best as they could or even anchor it just offshore before the breakers and swim in. The storm would batter the boat worse too close to short. "Trelly should we beach her or anchor her outside the breakers?" She would have some advice he was sure, she was so smart.

Trelenwy pulled in the rod. One fish would have to be enough. Even with decent wind it'd take them a little bit to get to shore, and the storm was coming fast.
She looked up at the wall of clouds and then down at the boat.
"We could take her onto the beach," she said, though she wasn't sure how they'd manage that, "or... outside the breakers, but I don't own a boat. I haven't worked with them much." That much was true. She had been purely a house-slave, there had been no sailing for her. What she'd done since was purely by chance and she had never been the one entirely in-charge. Her knowledge was based on second-hand information.

"My instinct tells me to leave her outside the breakers, if we leave her on the beach the surf might destroy her." He peered at the oncoming storm with trepidation. It was coming on fast. "Come on Trell we will put as much of our supplies in the oilskins as possible. Unfortunately we will have to swim for it, and the sooner the better." He bustled about and dropped the anchor, pulling the sails down and tying them to the mast, he was huffing by the time he was done. He tied his hair back so it would not swamp him in the water then he put a foot up on the rail. "Are you ready Trell?" He held out a hand to her. Their future was uncertain but they would be safe on shore, either way they were going to get very wet, it might as well be by choice in his opinion. "I hope its not too cold," he looked at her with a flat face. Trying to make her laugh.

Trelenwy began to try and conceal their belongings from the oncoming storm. Hopefully with nobody in it the boat would be just fine, but she did hope that Theriar wouldn't lose any of the things he needed to do his job. A boat anchored at sea wasn't going to get smashed on any rocks, but it was going to get tossed.
Her actions were fast. Though she was calm and collected in her expression, her heart was pounding. Panic wasn't going to help either of them, but her body warned her that they might be in trouble if the storm beat them to shore. She was a fairly strong swimmer, but she hadn't been at it too long and had never had to fight hard waves. If they didn't abandon the boat, though, the storm likely would end up beating them to shore and they'd have no way to get home either.
She reached out to touch Theriar's hand, but didn't laugh when he joked with her. Just as soon as she had touched him she drew her hand away and nodded. Yes, she was ready. Considering that his weight would hold the boat down better than hers would, she jumped over and tried to clear the edge, splashing into the water, curling and unfurling to swim a safe distance away and then tread water to peer back up at Theriar. No way was she letting him out of her sight out here.

Theriar was touched at her stalwart concern and leaped over the edge after her, underestimating how deep one could go in a dive he pulled up, flipping his hair with an exhilarated rush beside her and gasping for air. Sweet air. He brushed the rest of his uncooperative mane out of his face and started to swim for shore, paralleling her. The boat would be fine, they had gotten away ahead of the terrible storm. The surf was just beginning to swell from a nonchallant ripple to something more sinister. Soon enough his feet hit the sand and he half waddled half paddled up to the shore, pausing for a moment to sit on his butt now covered in sticky sand and look at their handiwork. The boat would meet its fate but if she did sink at least they were not on board anymore to go down with her. He reached a hand out and helped Trel up. "Looks like we had best find some shelter and start a fire. I like water but I think with the wind it will get too damp for my iceling blood never mind my alkidike blood which hates being wet at the best of times." He paused for a moment and wrapped her in his arms for a quick hug. He loved this woman. He felt confidant that she wouldn't leave him to fight the storm alone. "Thank you Trel..for everything."

Trelenwy wasn't especially graceful in swimming. When you were just fooling around and not so far from shore there was plenty of room for gentle motion and playfulness, but the sea was deep and they had to get to shore. Her stroke was strong and intentional, and she met the sand with Theriar without much lag. She was shorter than him, after all, even if she wasn't all that short.
When they were safe, or relatively so, Trelenwy finally offered a smile and took her partner's hand to stand.
"For what?" she asked, and then continued: "Can you start the fire? Or are you better with shelter?" If each of them had their own task, they could get their camp set up twice as fast. Unfortunately dinner was still on the boat, but they could figure something out.

"I'm better with fire." He set out to gather wood as dry as he could find it, scraping off old coconut husk to get it going fast. Fire would be very helpful out here, considering the temperature if the rain hit them as hard as he thought it would. He was scanning the undergrowth when he came across what looked like an old forgotten path. "Trel? Do you suppose this leads to something?" He asked. Following the trail he saw a tall, stone building conical in shape, which looked like it had been abandoned a long time ago. "I think we found ourselves a shelter!" he cheered. He was excited now that they had sturdy walls if they chose to stay, as well as a relic to explore. "Do you think its safe?" It wouldn't do to have the walls fall on them letting the storm basically win.
