The girl was clearly excited as she stood in line to sign in as she could barely hold still. It wasn't the near bitter cold that was beginning to set in nor the mass of people around that caused her petite frame to move impatiently as she reached for a pen. Certainly, it wasn't any need to feel charitable as she paid the person at the gate rather quickly and with not much mind. For her, it was the prospect of the race itself. The young girl was quite competitive, to say the least, and she was certain not to miss an opportunity like this. A charity run.For Aura, it was clearly more for the 'run' part than the 'charity' portion. α

Galya - Competing!Galya had seen the advertised gingerbread run and she couldn't wait to get dressed up and go. Honestly because of the fact her family was so into costumes and cosplays she'd take the time to make a sugar rush racer styled outfit that was ginger bread themed complete with peppermint piping. She had told her sisters where she was going but made sure they didn't feel like they were obligated to play; since it was a pay to play game.
The teen stretched as she was getting ready for the race to start.Zoya and Kata - SpectatingZoya had managed to con Kata into coming. It was after all something that promised to be fun to watch and they could even cheer on Galya. Zoya had insisted they dress up too, even if they weren't going to run. After all, they couldn't leave their sister hanging. So both had pulled together their own last minute Sugar Rush racer outfits. "Kata you think Galya'll be able to finish this race? It looks awful long. I hope she trained enough. . . "Zoya wasn't often the worrier type but she did often wonder and question things like kids often did. Kata laughed, "Well of course she trained enough silly. She spends all that time of hers running after boys after all." There was a playful wink from the middle sister, to the younger. Kata then ruffled Zoya's hair while she stood there, before cupping her hands around her mouth and giving a loud whoop and calling "You go sis! You got this!"This caused Zoya to give a small startled noise from being surprised at the sudden yelling. When she finally figured out what had just happened she gave a playful jab to her sister, followed by; "Shh! You'll embarrass Galya!" While Zoya was trying to stop Kata from cat-calling anymore. Quote: Everyone's free for interaction. Just quote me.

Emily Wren Wiley - Competing"Mmmm." Emily clung, burrowing a moment longer before peering up, shaking her head. "I'll tell you later." She murmured, and nuzzled into him, still clinging to both firmly with a while. Finally she movd, peering up whining. " Really? Dad's not slow!" Cue sad eyes. Allison Abson"That I can agree with." Ally snickered, and motioned. "But nobody wants me planning charities. Gothic looks would be everywhere. Even a black christmas tree." She chuckled, and moved to cast her shadow over Cara, nodding. "So how did they get you into Saint Mag's home for Society's Failed Stepford Wives?" Alexandra Pepper - CompetingAlex notted the stranger curiously, head tilting before she moved over at an idle pace and nudged him quietly, and motioned. "No idea. Assuming they'll be saying on the loudspeaker." She noted. "Seems pretty packed though."

Someone on a loudspeaker has announced that all the racers need to line up and find their spots. Things are about to get started! Racers--on your mark! Get set! Go! For the first part of your race, you'll find yourself in The Peppermint ForestThe start of the race leads you into sticks of peppermint, with a sign that says ' Welcome to Peppermint Forest'. Synthetic peppermint trees, carefully painted and smelling strongly of the herb, have been meticulously placed across the path. The landscape has been crafted into an elaborate replica of the most creative sugar forest, and Peppermint is only the beginning. There are four more realms to explore after this, but it never hurts to get an early lead! Quote: Roll two four-sided dice! The first roll is for speed and the second roll corresponds with one of the following prompts; prompts can positively or negatively impact your roll: 1 - You seem to be having a really bad day, having decided to try to jump over or crawl under the fallen trees. You occasionally trip, stumble or get stuck on your way. (-1 speed bonus) 2 - You take the time to detour around any fallen peppermint trees. (No bonus) 3 - You might not be the most athletic with these types of obstacles but if the tree's easy enough to jump over or crawl under for you, you do it. That doesn't matter though you're doing your best to get around them, even if you have to walk around a few trees here and there. (+1 speed bonus) 4 - Man you're really breezing through this part of the race. You find it very easy to jump over or crawl under most of the trees, with very few if any that you have to actually walk around. Luck must be on your side. (+2 speed bonus) When you are finished filling out your post, tally your score (make sure to add or subtract the results of the second dice according the the prompt it correlates to). Please record the results at the bottom of your post in Bold Red. Keep up with your scores as they'll determine where you finish the race!

Alerana Ikaros
Rara had started doing a few stretches to warm up when the announcement went out for everyone to gather. The race was about to begin! She eagerly made her way to the starting line and braced her feet, waiting for the call to start. There were a last few tense moments before - GO! She was shooting down the road like an arrow.
An arrow in a forest, apparently. When they'd said it was a run, she'd expected a straight marathon. Not the fake tree obstacle course she soon found herself up against. They weren't even all standing straight, there were some lying in the street or propped up like road blocks. Determined not to lose any time, she started to climb over the peppermint "logs." She was good at climbing, and figured that would be a breeze. Unfortunately, even though they looked like trees, they didn't feel like them. At some points they were too slippery, so she couldn't get a good grip. At others they were so rough they snagged on her coat and gloves, slowing her down. Eventually she got frustrated at the trees and started walking around most of them. It could hardly be any slower.

Bailey Jameson - Competing!
Bailey had been excited. More than excited. She'd never been up to participating in things like charity runs before, but this time...this time, she was ready and pumped! In the really excited way. So when the race actually started, she took a breath and started out at a steady pace. Nice and easy, that was what the sites she'd found on Google said.Kaida Courcel - Competing!
She hoped Matt made it. Kaida fidgeted from foot to foot as she waited for him, and for the race to start, taking note of familiar faces she spotted. Including Albert's horrendous Christmas sweater. She...was going to have to talk to him about that later. How many of those things did he have? She swore he had a new one every time he donned such a thing. Of course, by the time she spotted Matt making his way into the thick of things, they were already getting ready to start, and then it started. While a normal run might have had her throwing her all from the get go, this was something a little more lengthy. And so she started out steady, getting a feel for the terrain. She could use a wall or something to hop over some heads later if she felt like it.Alexandria Anne Abson - Spectating
Normally, Alex would be right there with Ally competing. But the cold that day just...had her body not happy with her. So bundled up, cheering on her baby was going to have to suffice. She'd found herself a nice seat early on, hot chai stashed away in a thermos in her tote bag. If she caught Ally looking her way, she grinned and flashed a DFTBA at her child, to cheer her on and encourage her. God, she was proud of her baby.
The girl next to her swapping seats with someone had her looking away from those competing for a moment. "Hello there! Have anyone in particular you're here to cheer on?" Never mind the young man seemed to be missing bits. She'd never been one to care. "Or just indulging in some charity for the season?"Strickenized -tosses a future knight at you-

Albert Wily - CompetingAlbert frowned at the redhead's words and preened at his daughter's defense, but patted Wren's shoulder and grinned. "He'll see, little bird, don't you worry," the be-sweatered man promised with a chuckle. He pressed a kiss to her temple affectionately, but that was all he had time for because from there, the race was starting. Or rather, the race was starting, and he had something to prove. While he knew better than to run as fast as he possibly could, he was also out to show Wren's boyfriend that he wasn't slow, and so started off at a decent clip. He would slow down a little further on, when he needed to rest a bit. Besides, this peppermint forest was rather pretty! A bit cheesy, perhaps, but adorable - it really did feel a bit like a winter wonderland, if a very... saccharine version. Whatever lay beyond it was bound to be just as interesting, he was sure, and since he was having no trouble navigating it - it couldn't be that hard, could it? It was just the first area! - he would get there in plenty of time to see it. Joseph Ross - CompetingHe'd only been teasing the old man, but it looked like the programmer had taken it personally. He'd apologize later if either Wiley was truly upset, but right now it only seemed to have kindled a kind of competitive fire in the middle-aged man. Glancing once more at Wren to make sure she would be alright - Curls was upset, he could tell, but there simply was no time to really find out why - he joined the others at the starting line and took off. His speed was good, his long legs carrying him along at a good pace with perhaps less effort than someone with a shorter stride, but once he reached the forest, things got tricker. Or perhaps trippy would be a better term, if in a more literal sense than usual - just where had that fallen 'tree' come from, anyway? Had this been an obstacle course? Huh. He must have missed that on the sign-up. Oh well, it just meant he'd have to keep his head a little better. And besides, he was doing this for charity. Winning wasn't something he was aiming for in this race. Cara Stauss - Competing'Saved by the starting call', Cara thought to herself as she rushed out a quick "Well it's a long story I'll tell you later gotta go run!" to the goth girl, taking her place at the starting line and anxious to just get this damn race over with already. She did not want to explain to her senior that she was a) in the foster system and b) was dumped in mags after getting out of juvie. Not when the older student had been kind of ... nice to her. And maybe that was why she took off as quickly as she did. This was a longer race which meant she really should be saving her stamina, but - but she wanted to get some distance, first, and maybe find a way to keep from ever having to explain herself to Allison. Unfortunately, her fast pace was slowed significantly when she had to crawl under a tree that blocked her path, and then again, and... Who the hell set up this trail? And were they some kind of candy-cane sadist?!?

Isaiah Varney // Spectating with an eye on Albert WileyIsaiah was unaccustomed to people talking to him in public events like this. He didn't mind it; company was acceptable so long as it didn't cover uncomfortable topics, and these scanty interactions seldom did. "Charity, mostly." The answer sounded distant against the backdrop of the initial cheers.
The runners took off to an impressive start, and Isaiah eyed the front-runners down the initial stretch. "To be honest, I don't think I recognize any of the participants. I'd like to see that middle-aged guy win, though. Wouldn't it be a pisser for all the teens and twenty-somethings that decided to participate today?" The runners looked like they tackled the false forest relatively well, as none ended up getting stuck and requiring assistance. Interestingly, as they emerged, Isaiah's pick for winner maintained a slight lead. "Looks like he knows how to get through the fake trees, anyway.
"How about yourself? Friends or family in that gaggle down there?"

Amigar - competing Before she knew it the race had began. She could feel her cute tennis shoes hit the ground as she ran towards the first part of the race. She had no idea how many people would actually be joining but man did it seem like she had her work cut out for her.
She kept running until she saw the sign "Peppermint forest". It was a cute little forest with tons of painted decorations and she had to admire the skilled workmanship. it definitely couldn't have been easy. While she was a little out of it she almost missed the fallen peppermint trees. She shook her head and looked forward just in time too. So she was able to slow down just a little bit, Reducing her speed enough to jump over the fallen peppermint trees. As soon as she made it past she took her scarf with her left hand and wiped her forehead. This race was a little crazier than she expect but that actually made it all the more fun for her!Quote: Total: 3 + 0 = 3You take the time to detour around any fallen peppermint trees. (No bonus) Sabrina Luna - competingSabrina was wearing her normal old school shoes. Since somehow they actually were quiet comfy for running in. As soon as she heard the race start she took off. Speed was something that in her family they had a lot of it. Her dad used to even be the top runner at his high school and college when he was younger. With that information though she never understood why he opened a hotel that would always be a mystery to her. Since if your good at something shouldn't you take it as far as you can. Maybe one day she would learn why her dad did that. But today it was on her. She ran and ran until she got to the sign Peppermint Forest here she comes she thought!
With that she quickly entered the forest it was super pretty, especially for a charity race. She could see they put there heart into it. As she quickly jumped over the trees and she kinda jump crawled over some other ones. She did her best to get through the obstacle as quick and as painless as she could. Towards the end of it she grabbed her locket and smiled. One part done who knew how many to go. Quote: Total:2 + 1 = 3You might not be the most athletic with these types of obstacles but if the tree's easy enough to jump over or crawl under for you, you do it. That doesn't matter though you're doing your best to get around them, even if you have to walk around a few trees here and there. (+1 speed bonus) Demetrius - Competing. This race was nothing big for him. Since he had raced plenty in his time on earth so far. I mean it was no different then all the competitions he entered at school. If anything it would actually be a little easier. I mean a charity race was nothing like the Olympic style courses he trained on with his team. The only real difference about today was his legs were super tired. Which was normally rule number one never start a race with tired legs.
Though today he ignored those rules as he took off in his first charity event in a long time. He still had no idea how he ended up being the one roped into this. Though it was to late now to think about that as he was on his way already. Before he knew it he was already into the peppermint forest or whatever they called this striped wonderland of trees and things.
It was then he felt his leg get a little warn out. Which he didn't have time for. Though then his leg cramped at just the right time ironically as he tripped over two fallen trees. It made him slow down a little bit but it was just the recovery time he needed. As he slowly but surely took off after the next check point area. Quote: Total: 3 + 0 = 3You take the time to detour around any fallen peppermint trees. (No bonus)

Kailey O'Carroll - Competing
She still wasn't feeling super well after the crap that went down at the Gardens, because who ever feels good after getting hit with a damn flu, but here she was, ready to run after paying her entrance fee. She tried to participate in the holiday events like this each year when able, figuring it was the least she could do to support the legitimate charities.
Kailey spent her time before the race stretching, hoping at least keep herself from feeling even worse after the endeavor. When the signal was given to go, she was feeling at least marginally confident she wouldn't pull a muscle or cramp up. Hopefully.
Though not as fast as some of the other entrants, she was able to make up some time with her efficiency through the obstacles. Bonus points for being tiny and flexible.

Jericho Cross - Competing
He'd been pushed into this by his parents. Not that he was going to openly complain--there was a level of pride in it, and knowing that he was forcing his school (and the church he attended, through their own similar vow) to match donations.
Didn't mean he was overly excited about this. He was... pretty confident in his endurance, but speed or flexibility? Nah. About all he had going for him, he figured, was his longer legs. But he knew other racers would be able to outmatch him pretty quick--ha--and wasn't about to kid himself.
Still, when the race began, Jericho was off to an alright start. His speed was decent, and it wasn't too difficult to get up and over the trees--though crawling under was a hell and a half. Still, he pushed through, suddenly surprised Leucite hadn't set up a stunt like this for some training class.
{ 4 }
Cassie Finlay - Competing
Ok so she was definitely out of her element here, and Cassie knew it. Still, it was for a good cause, and she was wearing DCU colors loud and proud. Even if she didn't do that well here, it was supposed to be fun, right?
She wasn't in the best shape, and she knew it, but the lights and the decorations still had her grinning and her eyes lighting up like a kid's.
She almost missed the start of the race because of that, distracted as she was. Her burst of speed surprised her--and she hoped it didn't come around to bite her in the butt later on--but she wasn't confident enough in her ability to climb around any of those fallen trees... so a detour was necessary each time, cutting into her time. But hey! Made it through the first zone!

Gigi Gennaro (competing)
Gigi had not intended to participate. She’d intended to help her Mum carry the food donations, and cheer from the stands for her baby cousin and aunt. They’d been running late, because Kirra couldn’t decide if Pikachu shoes would be faster than Spiderman shoes, so by the time they arrived at check-in, the starting line was already getting crowded. Gigi watched the participants with her mother while her aunt signed up, looking for runners she recognised. When her aunt handed her something, she took it without question, only glancing down at it when Meels started walking away.
She’d been handed a completed entry form in her name.
“Meels?” she called after her aunt. And then louder, and with more concern: “Aunt Amelia! You’re running!”
Meels glanced back, a sly look. “Nah, look, we’re good, we’ll meet you at the finish line! Good luck, Gigi, Kirra-birdy! Run fast!”
A loudspeaker broadcast announced the imminent start of the race. Gigi appealed to her mother, as the two adults backed up off the racetrack.
“What if I’d been wearing heels?”
“But you’re not, hun!” her mother pointed out, giving her a thumbs-up. “It’s for charity, remember!”
Mother and aunt disappeared into the crowd in the direction of the stands, while Gigi stared in open-mouthed outrage, unable to muster a retort. Kirra pulled on her hand, and she reluctantly took her place beside the ten-year-old, ready to run.
It was very quickly apparent that Gigi was neither prepared nor practically dressed for the event. Her shoes, though flats, left her falling behind Kirra almost immediately, and many of the other runners as well.
But it was for charity, and even if she hadn't exactly chosen this race, she couldn't very well just give up. She put her head down and gave it her best to keep up.
The thick smell of peppermint quickly filled the air, and Gigi's heart sank as she realised this was not just a marathon, but an obstacle course. The fake trees even looked sticky, the tips immediately catching on the lace of her skirt, and she came pretty much to a complete halt as she struggled to detach herself.

Kirra Morrow (competing)
Kirra wore the yellow shoes, because Pikachu was electric, and lightning was the fastest thing ever. Flash, bang! Speed of light. She bounced happily beside her mum, auntie and cousin as donations were donated and entries were arranged. Her school was going to give even more money for the hospital kids just for her running, which was super-nice of them. And she was getting gingerbread when she reached the finish line. She was going to have to finish first for sure, and eat the most gingerbread while everyone else was still running.
Oblivious to her mother's duplicitous play and her cousin's outrage, she waved cheerfully to the adults as they left.
"It's starting, it's starting!" she told Gigi, dragging on her hand to get her to line up properly. "I'm going to run so fast, you won't catch me!"
She raced off fast enough, but her legs were much shorter than everybody else's, it wasn't fair! Though she succeed in leaving Gigi behind, catching up with anyone else was not going to be easy.
A little 'oh' of wonder escaped with her puffing breaths as the Peppermint Forest came into view, just like something out of a storybook. And it smelled sooo yum! This would slow down all the tall people, she thought, dropping to the ground to crawl under a fallen lolly tree. But it was harder going than she though, as she wiggled and writhed and got herself thoroughly stuck in no short order.

Tom Wolf - CompetingEver since he had come here to Destiny City, Tom had participated in the Gingerbread run. Although he didn't like to be out in the cold, it forced him to exercise a bit and it was a good way to give to charity. This year however he would be joined by his little brother, with the two of them having a bit of a competition between themselves. Jason really wanted to participate in this event also, but Tom was pretty sure that if there was anything crazy during this, like the bats attacking during the fall festival or, as he had heard from the internet and his brother, weird, mutated plants attacking, he wanted to be there to make sure his brother was all right.Quote: Result 4, Speed 3 + 1 = 4 Jason Wolf - CompetingJason sighed a bit as he and his brother got ready for the race. He figured something would happen again, considering how his luck had been in the city so far, he wanted to have the help of his brother. Hopefully this wouldn't turn out like the others had, but he was going to be prepared for whatever may come. He looked over at Tom and nodded with a smile, signalling that he was ready.
Suddenly, the race was on! And they were off into a Peppermint forest. Unfortunately for Jason though, he managed to completely trip up and got stuck a few times, creating a huge gap between he and his brother. However when Tom looked back worryingly at him, Jason only gave him a thumbs-up, showing Tom that he was okay.Quote: Result 1, Speed 1 - 1 = 0 Shoot at missing the opening, will fill in later when I have time.

JocelinWhen she heard the announcement over the loudspeaker she checked her number and headed over to where her starting point was. She was glad everyone else around her seemed to be in the same boat, not professionals but out for the run to just enjoy things. When the official "Go" sounded she was happy to join the others and head off on the course. She tried not to laugh as some people took off as fast as they could at least knowing starting at a slower steady pace was a lot better for a long run. The sign for the Peppermint Forest was a surprise and the smell of peppermint everywhere was really a surprise. Trying not to cough at the unexpected smell she rubbed her nose and continued on past the painted trees. "Wow ... they put a lot of work into this." She laughed as she took in all the trees and decorations. If this was how good the first area looked she was excited for the rest of it.
