"I'll go with you," he promised. "Anywhere you want to go."
He wasn't looking while she powered down and, admittedly, seemed surprised again when her entire appearance shifted. He tried to clear his head so he could follow the cat's command. A moment later his clothes faded away, leaving Virell.
He drew away for a moment, smiled down at her, and gave her another squeeze on the shoulder before he stood up. He pulled her up with him and wrapped an arm reassuringly around her. He figured he had to be a few years older than her so didn't want it to be creepy, but she had just been attacked and he wanted her to feel safe.
He glanced to the cat. "You want a ride? I can carry you, if you're tired."
Truthfully, he also wanted to make sure she didn't run away with all the answers he needed but he figured it was better to keep the both of them where he could see them.
He wasn't a hero and had never wanted to be; he just wanted to make sure that there weren't going to be any other surprise attacks.
He gave Carlee another squeeze. "It'll be okay. We'll get you home, nice and safe. You're okay, right? You did a good job. I might not be here if it weren't for you sticking your neck out, so--thank you. You're a real hero," he said, saying what he thought she'd like to hear. He still didn't know what was going on, but he could tell that she was hurt and scared and he thought she could use any reassurance and praise he could give her.

Julienne gave a grateful meow, rubbing against Virell’s legs. “Yes please, if you could carry me, that would be fantastic. I am very happy with what you’ve accomplished in your first night out…you’ll be a good asset to us, I’m sure. We’ll go over everything, I promise.”Carlee nodded, half listening to Julienne talk to the blonde boy. She was okay…she would be okay. Well…eventually. She was alive, and for right now, that much was enough. And…and this guy was grateful that she had helped him, so that was nice too. “I…I don’t really like fighting…but I’m glad that this time…I got something done…I guess I should have used my magic but…but she just…”
The girl fell silent and shrugged. “It doesn’t matter now, I guess…It’s over.” She stood up and began walking towards her brother’s bakery. She wanted to talk to Arias and have him make everything better…because that was his job.

Virell scooped the cat up and held her carefully; he kept one arm gently draped around Carlee's shoulders.
"Don't beat yourself up," he said, giving her shoulder a little pat. "You did a good job. Everyone got away safe, right? Let's just get you home. We'll make sure you're safe."
There wasn't much else he could do out here, and though he wouldn't admit it, he didn't want to stick around in case that woman came back. It was already late, but he'd promised to make sure this girl got somewhere safe.
It was getting late and he had a lot of questions.
Tonight was going to be a long night.
