Magiore mulled over the answer given to him with careful consideration before speaking again.

"This school exists to educate those who are willing to stand up against those so-called 'terrorists,'" he said at length, still leaning back in his chair, one leg over the other, hands linked together in his lap. "The ones that run around the city, pretending that it belongs to them. It is a quieter, lesser known purpose beyond that of education, which is, of course, very important in and of itself. But we do believe that we have the capacity to protect the city in the ways that others can't."

He paused, Magiore watching Kian for any signs of dismissal or irritation or possible disbelief.

"It sounds ludicrous, or perhaps even farfetched, I realize; but it's important to us to make sure that our students are safe."

One silver brow arched as he listened to the other man speaking. That wasn't at all what he'd expected but given the nature of the city lately it couldn't really be that shocking. It made sense there would be those out there who would want to put a stop to the children running around.

"So the school is also a military school, so to speak? Private military and I assume privately funded since openly funding something like that wouks turn far too many heads."

This was certainly an interesting turn of events.

Magiore's lips quirked up into a faint smile.

"So to speak, yes," he said, keeping his voice as level as possible. "I hope that doesn't intimidate you, it's not meant to. Most of us who work here are just concerned about the future and about the safety of our students and our faculty, and we can learn how to do that here."

He gave a little nod. "Everything is privately funded, and extremely well-researched. We do take care not to be reckless or incompetent, and as you can see..." Magiore extended a hand, gesturing at the office and, by extension, the school itself.

"We've done very well so far."

"Hardly," He shook his head slightly. "I've been around the world enough times to have seen both the good and bad sides of private military. It can be taken to far but unless you are hiding some rather impressive things in the basement it seems like this school is well rounded."

And well funded but he could find out more about that later. Faculty would be given more information on that sort of thing than the general public.

"Given some of the stories you hear of the people running around at night I'd hope the school strives not to be reckless. Even if I doubt you can always stop your students from being such."

The day a group of teenagers could actually be properly responsible the world would come to an end.

He knew how it must sound to those on the outside; as though they were some sort of mass recruiting cult trying to draw unsuspecting victims into their midst. But so far, all whom Magiore had spoken to had wound up reliable and curious members of the Negaverse - minus Kainite, but then again, Magiore rarely counted him as anything except unbelievably annoying.

He lifted both of his hands in a gesture of innocence. "We aren't hiding anything, I can assure you, except maybe a better cafeteria menu than most. But yes, we d strive not to be reckless; most of our work stems from an attempt to protect our students, and the entirety of our staff is dedicated towards this. Our students are young; they can be foolish sometimes, so it is our job to educate them and keep them safe."

Magiore raised his brows. "What do you think, Mr. Capello? Are you still interested in becoming a teacher here and potentially a member of our faction?"

He leaned back in his chair slightly as he pondered the other man's offer. It wasn't the strangest offer he'd ever been made, far from it, but it was one of the more tempting ones. Since he'd started teaching full time and traveling less he sometimes felt like there was something missing. Nothing really exciting ever happened anymore and something like this would at least be guaranteed to be exciting.

A little more risky than he usually was, but exciting.

"I think, given the current climate in the city, it would be to my benefit." He'd become a teacher to make sure the next generation was prepared and with everything going on being in the middle of it would be far better than trying to teach from the outside.

Magiore waited patiently for the man to decide; he thought he'd come up with enough reasoning to sway him into accepting, but there was always the chance that he'd pushed too far or not enough at all. It was delicate balance between the two; and now he would see whether or not it was good.

A faint smile touched his face at the conceding. Magiore gave a nod, then pushed himself up from the desk and came around to his office door, reaching out to give the lock a firm twist.

"Don't be alarmed," he said, voice as level as it always had been. "I'm merely going to give you the necessary benefits in order to recruit. It's best if we aren't disturbed during that."

He raised a brow, slightly surprised that the door needed to be locked, but given what they'd been speaking of this recruitment was probably going to be a little more detailed than he thought.

"I leave myself in your capable hands." He settled back in his chair and watched the other man. "I would ask if this is going to hurt but ... in the end I don't suppose that actually matters."

His smirk was slightly dark as he waited for whatever Magiore was going to do.

Magiore rarely smiled to full width, unless he was around Durumi. Kian was given a slight upturn of his lips, vague and detached as it ever was, and he came to step around to the front of where the man was sitting, Magiore giving him a nod of acknowledgement.

There was a ripple, and within seconds Magiore Carpenter became General Aurostibite, the power surging through him like a brush fire. He did not, however, give Kian any time to react to this however, one gloved hand reaching out to clasp the other's shoulder.

"This will hurt a little," he said calmly, and then shoved his other hand forcefully into Kian's chest.

Magiore's transformation was unexpected and his eyes widened slightly as the man changed in front of him. He could feel the ripple of whatever the other man did in the air, skin crawling slightly,

When the hand clamped onto his shoulder he tensed and his mouth opened to question what was going to happen. Nothing came out though as the other man's hand disappeared into him.

He was right. It did hurt.

But it hurt on a level he hadn't ever experienced before. He wasn't even sure it was a physical hurt.

It took finesse to corrupt someone properly. Too much Chaos, and the man would be turned into a youma - which, while possibly useful in the future, was not Aurostibite's goal. Too little Chaos, and it wouldn't work, which meant that he had to be careful.

But Aurostibite had done this enough times by now to understand how it worked. He pushed his hand in harder, the hand on Kian's shoulder gripping tightly to hold him steady in place.

"Come on now," he murmured, and felt the blackness begin to grow, a satisfied smile touching faintly at the corners of his lips.

"Come on now."

It felt like Magiore, whoever he'd turned into, was reaching for something but he had no idea what. A bit of him wondered about the Mayan and the old stories about human scarifies and pulling out hears, another went to the scene from Indiana Jones, but all of that stopped when Magiore reached whatever he was going for.

Kian felt cold at first, like something was creeping up from his feet, but when whatever Magiore was reaching for was pulled out it was as if the cold filled him and became a part of him. There was a flicker, like a broken tv breaking up the image, and Kian was no longer sitting in the chair.

He still felt like himself but he felt like someone else as well.

He could feel the change beginning to take place, Aurostibite's feeling of pleasure rising, the Chaos twisting blackly around his fingers, curling through the starseed like a snake coiling around its prey. Something around them flickered - or maybe it was Kian himself - and then -

Aurostibite yanked his hand out, straightening, a slow smile of pride touching his lips.

"There," he said, sounding very satisfied. "How do you feel, lieutenant?"

"Slightly cold if one must be honest." He blinked a few times before looking down at himself. Whatever he was wearing was not what he had been wearing a moment before.

"Fashion upgrade too." He smirked, shifting so he could stand up and take a proper look at himself. The coat was interesting and reaching up he plucked the hat off his head. It was well made but did almost look like something you'd see in a cartoon.

Not that the man who had taken over Magiore's place looked any more normal. "I take it this," he motioned at the two of them. "Is normal?"

Aurostibite gave a little laugh, not quite able to restrain it; a rare sound, coming from someone normally as stoic and closed off as he was.

"You'll get used to it," he said, letting his gaze flicker up and down the man's new outfit before giving a satisfied nod. "Yes, it is. My name is General Aurostibite, of the Negaverse. You have been promoted into a lieutenant alongside us, which is a necessary precaution of all those who work and attend this school."

He idly tapped a finger on the desk.

"Discretion is of the importance, of course. Do not reveal who you are to simply anyone."
