"I answer your calls when you don't call when I'm either asleep or in class. It's not like you answer yours when I call back either." She couldn't really hold that against him when she was almost as bad. "Half the time you called I was out on the asteroid because while I wasn't fighting the Negaverse here I was at least trying to find something about who I was ... am..." He shook his head, running a hand through his hair. He knew the papers didn't always report things as they were and "I guessed it was the Negaverse. It's never actually a gas leak or whatever they come up with. They're pretty much dead on with the names of the dead though." That bit didn't change.

"It was Negaverse." She confirmed, hands shifting as her fingers flexed around the steering wheel. "The shots were being called by a Captain, up until things started going south-- He didn't seem to expect the level of chaos and he certainly wasn't expecting the youma. Richterite. His name was Richterite." It was so strange to talk about everything with someone who hadn't been there. She remembered the night vividly, just as she remembered every other night that hadn't gone as planned. When they made it far enough away from the airport she pulled off to the side of the road, turning her car off so that she could sift in her seat to look at Lucien. "... Luc, it was Rik."

He almost interrupted her but he was quiet as he let her words sink in. He knew there was always the chance that someone he knew could be one of the Negaverse agents but he'd have expected it to show somehow. Rik was always ... he was -good-. "Rik works for the Negaverse." He spoke slowly, almost like he didn't want to say it. Saying it would make it really true. Anyone could be Negaverse but it wasn't supposed to be their friends. It wasn't supposed to be. "How could he do that to us? Cordy, please tell me you stopped him? You didn't let him go because it was Rik ...." He knew she didn't like killing them and killing a friend. But they had to be dealt with, they couldn't be allowed to just keep hurting civilians.

"Worked for the Negaverse. He--," she swallowed hard, closing her eyes for a moment as she turned her head away from Lucien, uncertain for a moment as to how to proceed with the rest of the tale. "It was one of ours who put him in the hospital. Richterite teleported outside with her to keep her from harming any of the team he brought into the club. She wanted to kill him-- Would have killed him. I couldn't let her. That's not what we do, Luc. We aren't them. We don't kill people. He lost consciousness and powered down and that's..." Again she paused, taking a deep breath and releasing it slowly. "I brought Rik to the hospital and once he was stable and awake I gave him an ultimatum."

"Yes we do!" He snapped. "We stop them and that means killing them Cordy. They'll kill us if given half a chance and we can't pretend that we're better than them by letting them continue on. If we don't kill them they'll just come back again." They had to be destroyed. All of them. "Killing them isn't killing people, they're not people .... they're not supposed to be people." Rik wasn't just anyone though but if he was one of them he could have been lying to them the whole time. There was no telling how many people he'd killed in the name of the Negavrese. "What did you do with Rik? Where is he?"

"We are better than them, Lucien, and that's why we give them a choice." She snapped back, shaking her head before sliding her fingers through her hair, pulling the scrunchie out of her hair before redoing her ponytail out of frustration. "I gave Rik a choice. I knew his secret so I told him mine. He was still in the hospital; not in any place to do anything to hurt me, and I brought back up with me just in case he tried anything funny... You might not think so, but I tried to be smart about everything. I wasn't willing to risk the life of a friend, not if I didn't have to."

"What choice is there?" He managed to not completely snarl. "They chose that life, to try to destroy everything and we've both seen how easily they can do that." With as much trouble as the Negaverse and their yoma had caused the best way to deal with them was to just destroy them. "You still haven't answered my question. What did you do with him?"

"The choice is to surrender or continue fighting. I transformed in front of him. I exposed who I was. The only options that left him with were purification or death." She realized how dramatic it all sounded and hated that she was now putting Lucien through the same mess that she had been through. "He doesn't remember much, Luc. He can't remember anything about the time he spent with the Negaverse. He doesn't remember much about the past few years outside of that either. Some of the memories are gone from the purification. The rest-- Stars, the rest are probably from the head injuries. He's been pushing past it, though, even if it's meant everything's changed."

"You purified him ... so now what? He's a knight?" Somehow that didn't seem fair. That you could just forget everything and become one of the 'good guys' and leave behind everything you'd done before. How was that fair for the people he'd hurt that he got to forget it all while everyone else had to remember everything he'd done? He ran a hand though his hair, holding it back as he leaned his head against the seat. "This would have been easier if you'd just told me he died and we have a funeral to go to." "I want to see him. Both of him."

"A royal purified him, I just coordinated it." It had been more than that, so much more than that. He'd had to make sure that Rik would be safe once the purification was complete, that he had somewhere to stay while he'd readjusted to everything. Fiona had been such a big help with everything... "He's a Knight of Cosmos, and you deserve better than to simply believe that he died. It's why I wanted you to come home instead of just telling you over the phone that he was gone for good." She glanced over to him, watching him for a moment. "If you'd really rather just believe he's dead maybe taking you to see him isn't such a good idea..."

"I said him being dead would be easier. Not that it was my preference. ******** Cordy I don't -want- our friends dead." He sighed, voice taking on a sharp tone even though he was trying not to. "Our friends aren't supposed to be Negaverse." That wasn't how things were supposed to -work-. Even if he knew deep down it was, nothing was black and white, he just wanted it to be that way because it was easier. "If he can't remember who he is then who did you leave him with? Cosmos?" He hoped not. Despite trusting the Princesses, mostly, he didn't think they were the best ones to be leaving someone who'd had their head knocked that hard with.

"The Negaverse finds you when you're at your worst and latches on to your weaknesses. If you're not strong enough that's when the darkness reaches in." She spoke as though intimately familiar with the situation because she was. On more than one occasion she had been faced with the temptation that came from the idea of being able to leave everything behind; to forget and belong all at once. "I couldn't keep him with me no matter how much I wanted to. I was friends with Rik and if anyone else was looking for someone who matched his description it would just seem odd. He's been staying with a mutual friend of ours... You remember Fiona, don't you?" Her brow lofted as she looked at her cousin. "He's been staying with her and figuring out how to be a knight by spending time with another friend of ours."

"Yea, I remember Fiona." She was someone he needed to catch up with when he had a chance. They hadn't spoken in a long time but they'd been close enough and she'd always been someone he could count on when he needed it. "Who else is helping him? And are you staying away because you, we, were friends before?" Not that he thought it would be easy being around someone you knew who didn't remember you. At least, he supposed, it was good Lysander was gone. That was one mess no one would want to deal with. "They dont always prey on those at their worst. Sometimes they're always their worst and that's just who they are. You can't save everyone Cordy. Some of them are long gone."

"I've been visiting him at Fiona's and we've gone on patrol together a few times. He needs all of the support that he can get, Luc, from new friends to old ones... Just because he can't be Rikard Colby anymore doesn't mean he can't be our friend; that we can't still care about him." She reached over so that she could take hold of Luc's hand, assuming he'd let her. "I don't want to save everyone. I know not everyone can be redeemed, but that doesn't mean I can't do everything in my power to save the ones that I can. If Rik had been that far gone I would have killed him myself..."

"Same face, same voice?" He still wanted to see him, know it had been Rik and that he had been purified but he didn't know how it would feel seeing someone who he knew but didn't know him. He did let her take his hand even if he was tempted to snatch it back and start yelling. He was still mad, about a lot of things, but it wasn't all Cordy's fault. "I know you Cordelia. You do want to save everyone. I just hope you don't get yourself in trouble trying to." He wasn't as nice, never had been, and while he knew Cordy could handle herself he was also sure there would be some decisions she wouldn't be able to make.
