Bouquet of Diamonds

"Wow, three younger siblings? That must make things interesting." He'd never really dealt with little ones before. Was that fun? He wondered what it might have been like if he was born first instead of Moke... but since that wasn't the way that things went there was no use worrying on it too hard. Instead he asked, "What's it like having younger siblings? Is it hard taking care of all of them?"

As she asked about his brother he gave a nod of his head, "Yeah, he's an adult already." He was vastly younger then Moke, which he supposed in the long run was a good thing since it gave him someone to take care of him. Well... in the loosest sense of the word but he kept that thought to himself.

Turning his attention back to the digging he said, "Alright, we got all of the mud moved back, now we need to carefully break open this rock here, and see what is inside of it!" He turned to dig into his pack, getting out a hammer, "I will hit it and you can clear away the bit or rocks or vice versa, your pick." He didn't mind which task he got, so long as they went about it very carefully they should be able to get at whatever gem or crystal was inside the rock without damaging it.

"Uh, no? Not really?" Palila answered, her expression twisting as she thought. It wasn't always easy, but it was what she really liked to do. It made her feel important and needed by her family. After all, her grandfather was old and her parents were always away, there wasn't anyone else who could take care of them. It was something she enjoyed and, really, had to do.

"Sometimes they're difficult, like when they fight over the same toy." She explained, pursing her lips. "But they get distracted easily, so it's not hard to calm them down. They listen to me."

She wiggled back excitedly as he took out his hammer and beamed.

"I'm not very good with tools, so you can hit it and I'll clean up!" She exclaimed.

Bouquet of Diamonds

Kaimi had to admit that he was impressed that the other Menehune was able to take care of her younger siblings without much in the way of fuss. It was one of those skills that Moke was a bit lacking in but he was glad to hear that it was just his brother like that. She seemed to be good with her siblings, talking about how they weren't hard to calm down and that they listened. They really did sound like an interesting group. Curious he found himself asking, "Are they out playing today too? Is that why you're on your own?"

As the girl took the job of cleaning up Kaimi gave a nod, "Sounds good." He said before he started to carefully chip away at the rocks, "Just peek at the pieces, see if there are any shiny bits. That will tell us if we are digging in the right spot." The buzzing in his barbels only told him so much after all. They would need to inspect things with their eyes too, just to be doubly sure that they were digging in the right spots. He couldn't help but to wonder what sort of crystals they might find. No matter what they were he was hoping that they were something pretty and plentiful so that the two of them would each get a nice amount to share between them."

"Yeah! My grandfather took them out somewhere." Palila replied, her gaze turning to the bits of stone that Kaimi was chipping off with his hammer. She left off the fact that he'd taken the triplets out without letting her know or, really, without her permission, because it didn't feel like something a regular kid would say. She was aware that some children would be very glad to have a day off from work and that fact was the accepted norm. It would only make her look weird if she tried to argue against that.

"I think we're on the right track!" She exclaimed, pointing out a few fallen pieces that had sparkly parts embedded in them. "And the shiny bits look pretty, so it's probably something really nice! This is really exciting!"

Bouquet of Diamonds

Kaimi paused in hammering the rock so that he could reach out and pick up one of the sparkling shards, looking it over, before he said, "Ohhhh, an aquamarine I think! These are so pretty! I hope that we can find some good, full crystals." If they were lucky they would be able to find some full, unbroken pieces, which would sell or trade really well! They just had to keep at their digging and see about cracking open the pocket they had found and see about getting at the contents within.

Setting aside the shiny piece of stone so that he could take up his hammer once more. It was a slow going process since he didn't want to risk smashing his way into the pocket since it would ruin the crystals within. They had to be careful with what they did so that they got the most out of the crystals they were digging for. Some time of digging later and he was able to pull back the piece of rock that was a bit like a cover, setting it aside carefully. Once it was out of the way they were able to see the beautiful, light blue crystals within.

"Wow! There are some really pretty ones in here!" He said in an excited manner, looking up to give his companion a bright smile. It was so nice to be able to share such a find with someone else since he tended to be alone while he worked. This was a change of pace that Kaimi greatly enjoyed making him look forward to the future as he hoped to get his own team together.
