Minty poked at the book with a bored expression. She was supposed to be reading it, but instead, she was wondering if she could make cute eyes at one of the older tronics and convince them to read it to her. She loved listening to stories be told, but she just couldn't get into reading them herself. Most of the time she just couldn't grasp what she was reading. It wasn't that she didn't know the words, just that her mind always drifted off and she got lost in her own thoughts. Her eyes would skim the page, she would say the words in her head, but she would never retain what she was reading.

Minty had been skipping classes for weeks and now she was so far behind she would never catch up. Today they were discussing a book she had not only never read but had never even heard of. She hid at the back of the class and hoped and prayed the teacher wouldn't call on her. The teacher gave her a few dirty looks, was merciful and left her alone as she listened with confusion.

Melody listened to the story being read with wide eyes. It was a long book, way too hard for her to read by herself but since the teacher had decided to read it out loud that wasn't really a big deal, she could enjoy it just as well this way. And boy was she. Most of the books that she had to read by herself were kind of boring, they were about rabbits and things trying to do something silly, but this, oh this was different. This had magic and wizards and monsters, and bad guys that the good guys had to fight, this was anything but boring!
