"They haven't stopped joking about it since the visit," Eve added. It wasn't clear whether or not that meant she disapproved.

Jeremiah's lips twitched, finally finishing making that cup of tea and taking a seat.

"I'm not sure how I missed it," he said with a shake of his head, eyes cutting towards Eve. "I can only assume that the fetch probably took that and ran with it." Hopefully not terribly because Jeremiah already had to clean up the wreckage that it had caused with people.

He took a satisfied sip of tea, cup held in hand as he glances towards the eggs and back. "So besides Julian and Lady, there's eggs on the table ... Anything else I missed out on?"

Eve's gaze playfully rolled over to her wife, who'd gotten all blushy and fidgety now that Jeremiah had finally taken the bait. As impatient as Leila was for everyone they knew in town to get the news about incoming chickens, she sure got shy whenever someone mentioned them. Especially when it was a coworker.

"Yeah... chickens. I guess it's silly, but we've been wanting to do this for years." Well, mostly her. It had taken a while to warm Eve up to the idea. "You don't... think it's an awful idea, do you?" What with reality breaking and all.

"It isn't," Jeremiah told her. "In fact it's a great idea with everything that's going on. There should be things like this to be a reminder that it's not all ..."

His hand flicked through the air. Everything needed to not be dire and world ending (even if it was).

Clover rolled over and sighed dramatically, as if to emphasize Jeremiah's point.

"I suppose the sentiment's one way of looking at it," mused Eve, "but she's worried it won't be safe."

Julian made a face while he continued to carefully stitch away at his pant leg. He'd gotten the warning lectures too, but none of the handwringing the eggs had gotten. Then again, he was also an adult and not a baby chicken.

Jeremiah's lips twitched at Clover before his eyes cut back to his favorite married pair of lesbians. "I'm sure there's steps you could take to make them safer." He paused briefly before clarifying. "The magical kind."

He took a sip of his tea, fingers curled around the cup to enjoy the warmth of it. "With everyone that is in this house looking after them, I'm reasonably certain they may be the safest of us all." As he had the utmost faith in those closest to him and their abilities.

Julian snorted a little. What a saccharine thing to say. Eve was going to eat it straight up, too.

"There's the hopeless romantic I've grown to know and love," said Eve, right on cue. "It'd be much simpler if you just asked Leila if you'll get to hold one."

Leila grinned.

Jeremiah smiled a moment, an honest smile even if it looked a little weary around the edges. "You mean I don't get to hold all of them? I will be careful and abide by whatever I need to do be able to hold them."

This was definitely something he had needed. To slip back into the familiar company of close friends. It would bee a good visit for him.
