Considering it, America nodded, "Yeah, if it's managed to cover a little nook or something from the rain," even if it wasn't raining now, "...should be a good bet."

With a nod, Shun continued onwards until they were right by the building. Once there, he looked around at the overgrowth by the sides, prodding a bout to find a suitable location that might work. "This may work..." he murmured as he shifted some foliage aside from a crack in the building. 1001

Surveying the building, America asked, "Is there anything to watch out for in there? I've heard some places got severe... differences."

"Do not answer the front desk phone. And do not try and go into the archives. Other than that, it is mostly just an abandoned building here," Shun stated. "For the record, I do not know if anything bad happens if you do one of those two things I listed, but I just have bad feeling about them. So best avoid it."The interior was pretty messy, with papers strewn about and whatnot. He hadn't really encountered anything particularly dangerous about it all. 1084

"Cool!" America cheerfully entered the building and it was just about the first time ever she absolutely wanted to go into a place called "the archives" and look at paperwork. Shun was the kind of guy who told you not to do a thing, but also made you think, hey maybe he's just being boring or secretive and I should totally do the thing like, right now. Finding a cleared off desk, America slid into the copseat, gesturing for Shun to sit in the perpchair.

Shun followed America into the police department. While it had been clear in the past, he still kept his guard up, in case there was something new and unsavory that lurked about here. When the warg went on to seat herself where an cop would have normally sat, he just raised his brow at her, then slowly sat down in the chair opposite her. Once seated, he reached into one of his pockets and pulled out the pendant he had mentioned earlier. Gently, he set it out onto the desk. "What do I need to do from here?"1182

Reaching into her bag, America pulled out a bottle of ink, clearly handmade, and a thin round brush. next came a small notepad, which she flipped to a page bearing a very shield-like symbol. "Fix it in your mind. Practice with the brush before dipping it in ink, get a feel for drawing it until it sets in and feels right."

Tilting his head, Shun took a few moments to study the symbol laid out before him. It looked simple enough, but he bet if he didn't quite get it right, the magic wouldn't work. Or it might... but it would work poorly. Or completely wrong. Or something along those lines. He reached for the brush and did a few practice strokes, tracing over the lines of the shield to sort of 'train' himself. Some time was spent doing just that. Once he felt like he had a decent grasp of it, he looked over at the ink. "What do I draw it on? A blank sheet? Or..."1289

"Right on the pendant, go careful but natural."

Shun furrowed his brow and stared down at the pendant. Okay, he was going to need a little more finesse to draw it on the little thing. He did a few more practice strokes, with the intent of keeping it smaller. And once he was relatively confident about that, he dipped the brush in ink lightly, then carefully drew the shield onto the jade. 1353

"Good, now spread the dust you collected across the symbol. It'll bind in the magic and meaning you're gonna put into it. When you're ready, put your hand over the pendant."

With a nod, Shun went and sprinkled that dust over it. He let it sit for a bit, then placed his hand over it as instructed. He tilted his head up at America, waiting. 1387

America placed her hand over his. In Shun terms that was practically a hug, right? "Think of the safety that shadows offer up," she began, drawing on her own power to guide his. It came easier this time than it had with Zac, a bit more sure. There was a sense of sense of attentiveness coming from the shadowy corners of the abandoned station. "Think of the safe, secret places that shelter you." Magic, warm and comfortable, began to guide his own, helping to coax into something large, something that filled Shun's space, and then... "Now focus it down, into the pendant."

Shun raised his brow as she placed a hand over his, but he didn't say anything of it. He closed his eyes and began to focus. Thinking about actual safety wasn't an easy thing. Very few places were really all that safe. But he did recall some of the things that happened when he last saw Gloom. The little creature was sheltering him in the shadows from the rain, as well as from the othergulls. Blasted creatures, those are. There was an odd warmth he felt now. He wasn't really familiar with the sensation, but he didn't fight against it. He let it guide him, leading his own magic to where it needed to be. On America's word, he began to focus that magic down into the pendant. He hoped he was doing this right. 1522

The pendant began to glow, increasing in intensity as the glyph began to burn into stone. The shadows around them deepened, pulling near and around the glow until suddenly both glow and darkness faded back into the more neutral dims of the Other Place. There was a certain smell that lingered as America sat back in the chair, a small look of satisfaction cluing Shun into the fact that the retreating glow didn't mean anything had gone wrong. It was a smell of home, of feeling comfortable. "Test it out," she nodded toward the pendant, her magic retreating. "Hold it tight and think about hiding."
