The purple continued to stain Wis's cheeks, not fading. I would like ... to be family, I think. She smiles a moment later, watching their fingers twine together as it happens.

As if she had known it would from something only she saw.

I will hold you to that, Thorne, to keep him safe. Her mismatched eyes raised and flicked between the two of them. ... and it is good to not make promises. For some they are more binding and they are taken very seriously.

Thorne hummed, leaning into Chris's presence and letting them rest together in the dirt and soil and comfort of the garden. He was pleased that he'd been able to come here, know what Chris had found and decided to love.

"A tendency," Thorne echoed with a soft scoff, but it was fond and affectionate, gentle in its presence as though it was an echo of the gardens atmosphere. He glanced at Wis, rumbling a soft sound in the back of his throat.

"Of course," he told her, smiling. "I'll keep him safe with my life."

"Then you are," Chris declared with a finality, a smile on his face. He was content in that moment, with Thorne leaning on him and in a place he knew was relatively safe and guarded. It was a good moment of peace, of something nice. A memory to hold onto.

"Oh shush you," Chris said, gently bumping Thorne but he knew nothing was meant by it. His smile was more of a sheepish grin now, knowing good and well what happened.

"I'll make sure to not then," He told Wis, something firm in his voice. If he wasn't meant to give promises well, that was probably the better idea then. Other Ashdown was full of loopholes and a promise seemed dangerous.
