Mathilda nodded at the two responses she received, before turning back to the map pieces. Closing her eyes briefly, she tried to remember if she saw any type of signage.
Opening her eyes, she blinked at the newcomer and the small creature resting on him.
She blinked at the scenario, before watching with interest as another turned Chosen came up to them Was that Misha? Shrugging, she turned back toward the map, attempting to line her piece up with the others.

"Ooh! Her clothes, I forgot to show you were I put them." Lex winced slightly as the pantamine and Brian's explanation hit, he had meant to,but then he had a lot more things on his mind. "Sorry, Beth. I can take you to them." He offered his hand to the mouse, giving an easy smile. "Been a bit crazy, hasn't it?"

Beth almost overbalanced at Brian's gentle poke, but chittered happily, leaning her head down to nuzzle his finger affectionately. She squeaked an affirmative at both Brian and Lex excitedly, quickly scrambling onto Lex's outstretched hand, hunching her body down. She was still concerned about the state of her discarded clothes even though they might be ruined. That Lex, lovely friend that he was, had remembered and endeavored to save them made her grind her teeth and chitter. She hoped the gesture translated but wasn't quite sure.
Realizing the eyes upon her, she looked up at the tall woman with blonde braids. Everyone was tall to her, but she was quite the marble statue. Beth blinked, and shyly ducked her head behind Lex's fingers. But it seemed that she was not worth a second glance, for which she was both vaguely miffed by and grateful for. There was something icy in the clear blueness of her gaze.
It would take a bit of time to get her piece of the map, but she was glad to have something to contribute, after forcing her friends to track her down and drag her back to the camp. To say nothing of her continued reliance on their indulgence to include her. As she waited for Lex to help her retrieve her clothes, she groomed the fur on her head and sides. It seemed to need constant maintenance and even then was not thick enough to completely shield her from the coolness of open air.

Character Name:Beth Almasy Brief description of character: A sweet but skittish beauty who's lived in the lap of luxury her whole life, Beth doesn't quite know what she's doing. She's always willing to support and cheer on her friends, mostly so she doesn't actually have to lift a finger.

Beth is currently a hazel dormouse!

Lex crooned at the tiny dormouse, trying not to melt at the pure adorableness that was Beth the mouse. So cute, so fluffy, so, so tiny. He smiled, gently cupping his finger, letting his pinky fall and gently stroke over the soft hazel fur. So soft.
"Okay, lets get a move on then," Lex said before slowly standing up and started towards the inn. "If I move to fast, tell me, k? n** me or something, it be okay," He said softly. Awwww, she was grooming!

He waited until he saw Sylvia look at him out of the corner of his eye before he turned to her, mirroring her smile. "Hello yourself." Brian, Lex, Mathilda, and the cat got nods, and then he focused on the pieces laid out in front of them, at least until the mouse started playing charades. Beth. He knew that name. The one who'd helped with Griffin.
"That was Beth?" he asked, watching Lex head toward the inn, mouse in hand. "She's so... cute." He still dreaded turning into an animal himself, but he couldn't deny that the forms the Chosen had taken were interesting. He wondered if there was any rhyme or reason there, or if the magic was purely random.
Zan spoke to the group once more, eyes still on Lex's back for a moment as he began. "I didn't notice a path, but I've been sticking to the trees since it seemed like that was where the people who were turned were running first. I guess we could go path hunting, if we had to. I'm hoping one of the higher-ups will have some ideas too once they get cleaned up."

Character Name:Zan Gethin Brief description of character: Friendly, perceptive, phony. Zan has wholeheartedly embraced the more mundane aspects of his new life at the Prytaneum—such as regular meals, his stipend, and the gym—but his inability to stick with any one thing for long has left him struggling to pin down how he might best serve his god long term.

She tilted her head as Brian tried to line some of the pieces up, mouth pulling to one side. There were a few pieces with path, but none of them looked as if they lined up. “I’m not sure we have enough to put the path together… Maybe check some of the other edges, something else might still line up.” She reached out to poke at a few of the pieces.
The alert to Lex had hardly left her mouth before Misha wandered over nudged at Beth. After a bit of cooperation, they were both up on the table, and Sylvia was beaming a bit. They were adorable. It wasn’t fair that they could suddenly be so cute without trying – though, they were probably perfectly cute as humans as well. Still, the cuteness was probably a decent trade-off for having to be an animal. Not a great one, but it was something.
Brian’s context guess was spot on, though Beth’s gestures might have been helpful if she weren’t so tiny. As it was, it took a keen eye to be sure you knew she was articulating with gestures rather than cleaning herself or something. Sylvia gave a sweet hum as Beth climbed into Lex’s hand and hunkered down for the journey to find her clothes. Still watching after them, Sylvia shrugged her shoulders with a charmed smile at Zan’s comment. “Isn’t she, though?” She sighed a bit and tossed a glance back at Zan, “It almost isn’t fair.”
She nodded at the path-hunting suggestion. “It might be a good idea, now that we know what we should be looking for.” She glanced around at them all, “And to have more of us looking.” She tilted her head, one side of her mouth pulled back in consideration. “We’ve had plenty of practice, looking for our friends, and others, to save.” It wasn’t a particularly happy realization, but it was true.
Sylvia looked back down at the map pieces and turned a few of them. She squinted before scooting Zan’s piece over towards Mathilda’s, turning it a bit until they matched up. Her eyes lit up, “Oh! Good?” She squinted again and chewed at her bottom lip. “I wish we had more edges.” She liked being able to frame puzzles. Still, who knew how many pieces they were missing.

'Cause Sylvia talks to the group at large~
Character Name:Sylvia Owens Brief description of character: Sweet, optimistic, always trying to be helpful – even if it means bluntly telling you how stupid you’re being. Remains tentative about her new life as a Chosen, having never been a fighter…
"We'll get there," Brian reassured Sylvia, but he had no way to be really certain. The chances they they would entire up with an entire map from the hands of those kids seemed very unlikely. Why had it been torn into pieces, anyway? If they had meant to obscure it, wouldn't it be smarter to just burn it? Or did even Circe's underlings need the map to find her... palace, shack, cave, whatever it was.
He looked up to Zan a moment when the man spoke. No path. Alright. So it was probably just a figurative trail, or else it was too far from camp for anyone to pay much attention to. He offered the man a nod, then turned back to the map pieces. Was it horizontal or vertical? Eh, they could figure that out later.
"It'll be fine," he told Sylvia again. He tessted one of the pieces against another, then held it up in the light. "Look, you can tell where one ripped off the other." He pointed with the fingers grasping the pieces. "I don't think this is normal paper, but it still rips off in layers."

When Mathilda had turned to face Misha, she had caught the dormouse staring at her, before turning away. Pursing her lips, she looked at the map again.
"I agree. That is most interesting. Do we have a map of the area in general, or is this it? Because if so, we may need to do a bit of exploring."
Moving away from the pieces, Mathilda moved over to the mouse, crouching down and helping the tiny creature look for her map piece, gently poking the clothes aside if they got to be in the way.
"Heh, you're adorable." She held out one finger, waiting for Beth to notice.
"Hello tiny creature." She smiled brightly. "Can I help you with anything?"

Lex brought Beth to where he had stashed her clothing in the inn, the dress laid out and straightened out as best as he had been able. "Sorry, I wish I could have cleaned it for you. Where did you have it stored?" He asked, relaxed.
