"Well, I figure it's all sorta connected, making things, you know? If you just put a little more effort into it, well.." They shrugged a little and then grinned. "Who knows what you'll do! It's rather exciting, thinking about making my own clothes. I mean.." Their fashion had always been a little different, hadn't it? Ano'i pua thought so. More clothed than most in some ways but their shorts were fairly short. Either way they continued digging to help their new found friend find snacks. As Ano dug, a fish popped out of the mud and nearly hit them right in the face. It caused them to squeak and swim upwards pretty rapidly, a basic 'jump'. A whine slipped their throat as they hid their face in their hands and just slowly sort of floated back down to the bottom. "That scared me!"

Kaimi gave a nod of his head, "That does sound neat. I've patched my clothing before but I've never made anything completely before. I'd like to see what you make! You'll have to show me when you get some stuff made." He was pretty eager to see what others made because he felt that he would be able to trade with them in the future. He was eager to make a lot of friends and trade partners in the future and he found himself hoping that Ano would be both. The digging continued for a moment before suddenly one of the buried fish that he felt might be around burst forth from its hiding spot, startling Ano as it fled. Kaimi watched, a bit wide eyed, as the fish fled before turning his attention to Ano. After blinking a couple of times he asked, "Are you alright, Ano? That was pretty surprising..." He was sure that there were fish around but he didn't quite expect one of them to make such a startling appearance like that. Giving a smile he reached out, patting Ano on the hand, "I will try to catch the next one that we come across." He offered, knowing that they were looking for snacks but he'd completely let that one get away. Oops.

They were so embarrassed. Ano buried their face in their hands and just let out another whine before nodding at the question. They didn't want to be seen as a scardey-fish! So, after a moment they rubbed their cheek and just settled back down for more digging. "It's okay! I... should have expected it! I don't catch a lot of fish often enough to remember they do that.." Ano's voice was a little higher pitched now, since they were trying to get over the scare. They shifted positions, on their knees know, to dig into the muddy bottom of the ocean better. They were hungry and they really wanted some snacks now. "As for the stuff I make, yeah! I'll show you, definitely! It's really easy... At least.. for me. Just kind of takes my mind off of everything!"

Kaimi gave a little laugh, "No worries! The fish that bury themselves like that seem to be masters at scaring people. I was even startled by the way that one popped up!" Maybe if he admitted to being scared himself by the appearance of the fish then Ano would feel better? That was what he hoped at least since he didn't want for Ano to feel bad. They were friends after all and it was up to Kaimi to look after his friend! "I wish I was as good at finding fish as I was at finding gems." He murmured, if that were the case then he'd be able to protect Ano from any other fish based jump scares he thought to himself. His thoughts shifted though as Ano said that he'd show him the stuff that he made, "Wonderful! I look forward to seeing anything you'd like to show me, Ano!" He chirpped, continuing his digging before he finally found what he was looking for. It wasn't a pocket of gems growing in the mud as he'd hoped for, instead it was a loose one that had probably been brought here by the current and ended up buried. After wiping it off he lifted it up, inspecting it, before he held it out to Ano, "It's a piece of citrine. Would you like to have it, Ano?"

It did make them feel better. Ano eased a bit more and just sort of did a wiggling dance as they continued to chatter. It was like Ano just couldn't do anything sitting still for long. Their short hair swayed with their movements. But what really caught Their attention was what Kaimi found. Ano's eyes widened at the stone that he'd found. "Me?" They squeaked out. Slowly their hand reached for the shiny little stone and they got the brightest smile on their face through a huge blush that made their skin look purple almost. "Th-thank you!" Of course they were going to accept it. It was a token of friendship! They were going to make it into a necklace or a bracelet or something! "Ah.." What could they give Kaimi in return? Looking around and them at themselves they grinned. "Hang on." Quickly Ano pulled their shell necklace off and held it out proudly. "This was the first one I made! You can have it!" It seemed this was a very important moment, offering a token of friendship. Who knew when they'd see each other again!

Kaimi couldn't help but to smile as Ano accepted the piece of citrine. The jewel was still raw and uncut but it seemed that it had spent enough time in the water to clean it up so that it would sparkle in the right light. He was glad to know that it would be going to someone like Ano who would be able to enjoy it. Not to mention that its golden color matched them well, "Your very mcuh welcome, Ano." He said before Ano told him to 'hang on'. "Hm?" He watched as Ano took off the shell necklace that he was wearing, handing it over to Kaimi, seemingly as a trade. He gave a smile as he explained that it was the first thing that they had ever made. That made it very special to Kaimi who was quick put it on, "I thank you, Ano, I will take very good care of it! I promise." Gifts were things that Kaimi got often which meant that he would treasure the necklace and care for it as though it were the rarest of jewels.

When Kaimi put their necklace on, Ano's smile came back full force. The citrine was pocketed carefully until they could get home and fix it up! They wiggled a little more, eager to keep their time together going. "When we see each other again, we can know it's us! We could look different when we get older." Ano'i pua nodded like they were a wise old one before they fell into a fit of giggles. "Hey.. We can meet up right here again, right?" They motioned to the general area they were in. It was rare for their kind to see each other, but honestly.. Ano would love Kaimi as a fast friend. A secret friend, even!

Kaimi nodded his head, not having thought of that. Given that they were of two different tribes it wasn't as though they were going to run into each other daily. There was a chance that it might be some time between now and the next time that they ran into each other. The two gifts that they exchanged would be a good way to go about recognizing one another even if time were to pass between those meetings. Giving a smile he said, "That's a smart idea, Ano." As the other fish mentioned them meeting up here again he looked around for a moment. While it wasn't a place that he meant to go to constantly he saw no reason why he couldn't visit from time to time just to look for Ano. When it came to salvage he was one that went to where the gems were but for a friend he felt that he could return here time and again just in case. After a moment of thought he gave a smile and a nod and said, "That sounds good to me! I will come here from time to time to look for you just in case you're able to visit." If not then he would do a quick once over of the area to check for gems. Given that he'd found the citrine there was a chance other gems might be in the area so visiting this place could be good for Kaimi in various ways.

Again Ano relaxed when their worries were put at ease. Good. So there was hope they'd run into each other a few times in their lives, at least. With that good thought in mind, they slowly rose to their feet and floated upwards a little. "I'm afraid I need to get back. It's..." They sighed. "It's a little ways back and mama gets worried.." They were pouting so hard. Their bottom lip stuck out and it wiggled a little. "I don't wanna leave. Our time was so fun. I wish.. it could be longer." Still, their hand went to the pocket where the rough stone was and they worried on it for a while. They rubbed their thumb across it a few times. "Uhm! ...I'll come back every few days. Maybe.. maybe once a week?" That would give them both hope they'd at least see each other soon.

"I understand." At least he understood in theory. He didn't exactly understand in practice as there wasn't exactly anyone waiting for him back home. His older brother was around sometimes but he wasn't exactly the model older sibling, nor did he really care if Kaimi was out late. It was nice to know that his new friend had a parent that worried after them though. Giving a smile as the other said he didn't want to go Kaimi told them, "Don't worry, I'm sure that we will meet again soon!" At least that was what he was really hoping for. "I will try to come back when I am able to do so. Here's to hoping that we show up on the same days!" He figure that when he came to visit this particular area that he would stick around for a while thus giving Ano plenty of time to show up. Here was hoping that they would be blessed with the luck to find one another again he thought to himself, his barbels bouncing a bit at the thought of it.

Ano gave a little noise as they slowly started to swim away. They didn't turn around for a while, not until Kaimi was just a tiny thing in the distance. They breathed in deep and screamed out one last, long "GOODBYE, KAIMI!" and desperately waved their arms. With that and a twirl, Ano made their way back the way they came, just a bit sadder, but in so many ways, much happier. He'd made a friend, and he was determined to come back every week.
