Evelyn looked at him and frowned, unsure as to which part he seemed to be questioning, so in order to cover all bases she started with the Drosselmeyers "The Empire still has allies, though how much they actually support them is unknown. Giving them a chance to stand down will show that one will not begin another reign with bloodshed and that one is capable of Mercy...something that they themselves do not seem to know" she said, and then paused, making sure to look at him.

Apparently it wasn't completely known that war had already begun, the armies just had to be flown or marched before it was official. Evelyn then filled him in as best she could "The winter storms have taken a heavy toll on Bellris, they had to abandon most of their villages farther north in order to survive the harsh climates this year" not a lie, but she didn't tell him where they went, she wasn't aloud to or she could...from what she understood, be flayed by the head councilwoman "While they had abandoned the northern villages, Drosselmeyer sent a small patrol to attack some of the villages." she said, pausing again so that she didn't give him all the information in one go, letting him mull over what she had just said before continuing "The former Queen of Bellris took down the General, though I'm not sure what she plans to do with the dead general. Once the storm cleared up enough to move she ordered the execution of any empire troops closest to Bellris." she stared at the King "Five hundred were killed and crucified along the boarder between Lionis and Bellris in retaliation." she lowered her head and looked up at him, her eyes straining as she looked though her thick eyelashes "Your highness, war is here, and I did not need to start it."

Evelyn looked over at the guards as they came into the throne room and she smiled at him, so her cousin was here. How annoying. She looked at Herod once more and she then bowed to him, low enough that her top of her chest could be clearly seen "Of course King Herod" she said to him before standing up straight "I will make my presence scarce" she said as she watched him leave the room. She would then gather the shadows around her body and take a deep breath, shadow stepping out of the throne room and into the library.
