To be honest, Lovely Corpse's mind was anywhere but on beauty. While rather scrawny, Happy Endings was a good looking pony... and while the mare did like to stare at visually pleasing things, it held no exact attraction other than interest. Had her mind been a bit more tidy, perhaps she would have appreciated his opinions on her attractiveness.
Unfortunately for Happy Endings... Lovely Corpse wasn't made of money. In fact, all of her work was done purely for fun. Sure, her parents made sure to keep her comfortable and without want, sometimes even giving her an allowance. To be fair, she rarely spent it so she did have a decent amount stockpiled, at least.
"Mm." For a brief moment, Lovely Corpse stared at the stallion's offered hoof with confused interest. After a couple seconds of consideration, she gave hers as well -- even ifs he wasn't exactly sure of what to do. "Any," she said simply, taking cue to lead the two of them, at least until they were out of the house. She really didn't eat all that much, honestly, so anywhere was fine.

Any? Dollar signs practically lit up in his eyes. Well, he did love to have it his way. With a pleased smirk the flutter mused over which of his favorite expensive restaurants he felt like eating at today. He was pretty in love with the new asian fusion joint that had opened downtown. Their dark moody lighting was perfect for a date and their alternative take on the sushi roll was to die for. Happy licked his lips and gave a little nod to himself as he started to pull Lovely down the street once they exited the house.
"I know the perfect place. It's quite... Romantic," he purred, fluttering his eyelashes in her direction.
While he may have been an expert in the art of seduction, he didn't really know much about this mare other than that she had a strange hobby that involved dead things. The stallion snorted as he pondered an appropriate topic for them to speak about. Perhaps, since she liked dead things so much he should approach it as if she were someone like Penny. Although his sister seemed a bit more gloomy than Lovely who was full of smiles (which were of course just for him. She definitely didn't smile at just anyone, he could tell).
"Do you... Enjoy horror movies?"

Romantic, huh? Not that Lovely Corpse ever considered the possibility. What is love? What is romance? What is anything other than happy, at that? No matter what came her way, the young mare never seemed bothered by anything at all -- almost to a worrying degree. Not at all bothered, she followed along silently.
"Mm," seemed to be her most common response -- generally easier, anyway. Despite how dense Lovely Corpse tended to come across as, she understood well enough that she was somewhat difficult to understand, herself. Inexplicably, however, even she found that purr interesting.
Even after his question there was a long pause: whether or not Lovely Corpse was actually thinking it over or had just glossed over it entirely was uncertain until she finally spoke. "Mm... dun' watch most. Horr's good, tho." A beat. "You?"
What was small talk?

"My family is pretty big on it," he murmured as he led her down the sidewalk. "Particularly my sister. Though the sorts we usually watch are the cheesy older kind with the goofy costumes. That and my mom really loves that series with the chick who marries a vampire. We watch them like once a week." Happy pursed his lips, deciding to make an inquiry before he voices his opinion on those particular films. "Are you a big fan of those movies?"
While he may not have particularly enjoyed the now popular genre of romantic monster types, he did know most mares enjoyed them. This made the movies and tv series like sacred texts to him. The flutter studied them for proper ways to seduce women. After all, it seemed to have worked for his parents.
The stallion glanced out of the corner of his eye at his date. He did have to admit that Lovely was quite the unique stunner. It certainly wouldn't hurt his street cred being seen at dinner with her. His eyes trailed down her long braid of hair before they resumed looking at the street ahead of them.
"I hope you don't mind asian food."

While Happy Endings began passing glances to Lovely Corpse, she barely even paid attention to him other than listening. It wasn't that she had no interest -- it just wasn't a priority despite her like of pretty things. So far, her favorite thing about him was his cutie mark -- a ghost. She hadn't even noticed his hoof or, at least, didn't point it out. His colors were striking, at least.
With her dark eyes passing glances all around (a habit to find dead things, regardless of the situation), Lovely Corpse considered Happy Endings' words with another agonizing wait. "Nev'r seen. 'Least not vamp're." She paused again, lifting her chin to properly look to the stallion this time, offering her full attention. "More int' nat're." It was questionable whether the word 'nature' had been understandable.
With a beat of staring, the mare finally returned her attention to the streets before them. She couldn't quite recall whether she'd had it before, but Lovely Corpse was never really too bothered with anything enough to not try it at least once. Worst case scenario would be that she didn't like it, but that was fine. To each their own.

She hadn't seen them. Well then, best not to express judgement either way in case she saw them later. Always the best tactic with the ladies, never say you hated or liked something until you knew how they felt about it.
"Nature? Like horror movies that take place in the wilderness or like nature documentaries?" Happy's tail gave a swish as he looked at her with curiosity. He'd certainly seen a few movies in which people got lost in the woods and were eaten by cannibals thanks to Penny, but to be honest the sort had always made him a little bit queasy.
Of course, thinking about cannibals right before stepping into a restaurant was always a great idea! Happy had no regrets whatsoever as he led Lovely Corpse to the front door of the restaurant.
"Oh, I think you'll enjoy this place. The food is quite excellent and the booths are cozy and intimate."

To be honest, Lovely Corpse didn't really care all that much for movies. Sure, they had definite entertainment qualities without a doubt, but despite her calm demeanor the mare tended to fidget without something to do with her hooves.
"Mm. Both? Pref'r outside." Though her interests were... questionable, the mare didn't exactly like to be cooped up and would take her hobbies wherever she could. This didn't mean she was adversed to working from home at all, however. Back to the topic of movies, though, Lovely Corpse wasn't at all bothered by gore-filled or violent movies -- for obvious reasons. Perhaps she'd get along with Happy Endings' sister.
As they approached the restaurant and Lovely Corpse was led inside, it was hard to tell what she thought of the place just by looking at her. She kept her usual blank stare, examining the eastern decorations and ornaments that littered the walls and ceilings. Was she impressed? Who knew?
Again, the "intimate" comment was glossed over.
She did, however, lift her chin again to take in the scents. There were plenty of fishy smells -- not that she minded -- both cooked and raw as well as vegetables, noodles and rice. While normally Lovely Corpse wouldn't have exactly noticed the rumble in her stomach, even she couldn't deny that it was appealing on some level.
While she was very friendly, or at least tolerant, the mare was at a loss. Not a loss that bothered or ate at her, nor was she worried, but in her blank little mind there really weren't many topics for Lovely Corpse to touch upon without outside interaction. She didn't usually have much company. With her hair cascading down over half her face, some straggling strands falling over her eyes, she turned her attention to Happy Endings as if he were the leader of this little escapade.

Hmmm... She really was the cute shy type wasn't she? Though maybe his beauty had just left her tongue tied. That was probably it, he thought with a smirk as a waiter came and led them off towards a booth. After all, he was charming and most certainly handsome. He'd even inherited some of his mother's ghostly features. Who could resist such a specimen?!
Happy looked the teal mare over again as he stepped aside so she could take her seat, gesturing with a hoof. A single tea light was placed in the center of the table, the flame flickering in the small draft that was created by their arrival. It was perfect.
Ladies loved candlelight dinners. He knew it to be so, all the books he'd read had cemented this fact in his mind. Just this fact alone made him certain this dinner would win her over. She wouldn't be able to resist calling him up to buy him dinner again once this meal was over. Maybe she'd even write in her little diary, which he was certain all mares had, his name in little hearts as she sighed longingly.
You know what else ladies loved? Chocolate. The stallion smiled to himself as he flipped briefly to the back of the menu. "After our entrees would you like to split their chocolate cake with red bean filling?" Perhaps he'd even get a chance to feed a bite to her. Girls always thought that was cute.

Happy Endings certainly was in for a treat, today... not the kind he wanted, though. Shyness wasn't the word for Lovely Corpse -- to be honest, it was more likely that she had no shame. She just lacked the words that most others had as she spent more time alone than not, and she wasn't the type to speak to herself. The mare's thoughts were generally on her work more than anything.
Just beside him, Lovely Corpse waited for just a moment before taking a seat. Happy Endings' "chivalry" had gone unnoticed and surely he would have been devastated to know that the strange mare didn't quite click with the concept. She did smile at him, as she smiled at everyone.
She was, indeed, quick to stare at the flickering candle as Happy Endings took his own chair. Fire was always pretty... it always did interesting things to corpses, though it rendered them completely useless. Sometimes urns were beautiful in their own way, too... but it wasn't as appealing as taxidermy or preserving. The mare idly thought these things in the silence that permeated the air while her companion thought over his tactics to win her over.
"'Kay," said Lovely Corpse, tearing her eyes away from the flame to stare intently at Happy Endings. To be fair, the way the tea light flickered on the stallion's face caught her attention -- but it also illuminated her face quite well; though it was hard to tell whether it was attractive or, honestly, creepy. Another brief moment of staring passed before she glanced down at her own menu and looked it over.
...She had absolutely no idea what any of this was, to be quite honest. Not that it was a conscious thought, but maybe if Lovely Corpse couldn't figure any of this out, Happy Endings would recommend something.

Happy, as usual was always happy to talk about himself, things he enjoyed (and wanted people to buy him), and how handsome he was. Given the current situation, it didn't take that long for the stallion to break the silence by rambling about his favorite foods (which he wanted Lovely Corpse to pay for) after a quick glance at the menu.
"How do you feel about truffles?" The flutter murmured, leaning across the table towards her. "This place has an amazing steak and truffle maki. They also have a take on ramen with truffles and fried eggs with a Tonkotsu broth." The stallion licked his lips and leaned back in his seat. "However, if you're not in the mood for truffle, they do have a sushi roll with salmon, mango, strawberries, and jalapeno. It's one of my favorites."
As he rambled on Happy was eyeballing the chef's (rather expensive) sashimi special. The flutter loved extravagance, especially if it wasn't on his own dime, and Lovely seemed pretty receptive. After all, she did agree to share a dessert with him. Clearly she would be ok with him ordering the most expensive entree on the menu.

Surprisingly enough, Happy Endings' ramblings were rather appreciated. Sure, Lovely Corpse enjoyed her silence when she was working but as fate would have it, she found herself with "proper" company for the first time in quite a while. She wasn't necessarily surprised by her interest, not really putting any thought into whether she did or not... but it was still nice in its own way.
Even if Happy Endings was trying to mooch off her dime.
Again, Lovely Corpse replied with a mere "mm" as she pondered over the question. She did glance up at Happy Endings' adjustment over the table, but she didn't quite connect the connotations. "S'good?" she repeated from earlier -- a lot of these words, unsurprisingly, went over her head; she'd never had eastern food before, so a lot of it sounded so jumbled to the simple mare.
Glancing back down at her menu, Lovely Corpse attempted to understand most of what was written -- luckily for her, a lot of the meats and vegetables used in each roll were explained just beneath their spot on the menu, so she was able to figure out at least what sounded good.
"Hav'n had f'sh 'n a w'ile..." she muttered softly, still glancing over the laminated paper.

"I don't have fish very often either," he smiled. "I save it for special occasions. Like dates with beautiful mares." The flutter ran a hoof through his hair, doing his best to try and look as handsome as possible. There was this particular look that male models had on the covers on romance novels and the flutter was constantly trying to emulate it when he was with a potential target.
The waiter came and went, taking their orders and Happy's current topic of conversation, food, went with them. For a moment the flutter was left in expectant silence. After all, he'd been going on for so long the mare must of loosened up by now. Maybe if he just kept his mouth shut for a few minutes she would feel comfortable enough to ask him about his favorite subject, himself.

"Mm."
While she still couldn't put too much thought into it, Happy Endings' compliments had become far more frequent -- to the point where even she was noticing. It wasn't unpleasant or unwelcomed, but she didn't quite know how to respond with anything but a quick butcher of the word 'thanks.' Lovely Corpse would have offered a smile in response, but her maw was in a permanent state of such.
The mare's order was simple: a roll of cucumber maki and edamame. She preferred light foods over anything else as she didn't particularly care for eating all that much, anyway. Content with this, she watched the waiter walk away before returning her attention back to her new friend.
Lovely Corpse had no idea that the stallion was waiting on her, waiting on questions pertaining to himself -- the silence didn't bother her in the slightest, so she wasn't quite sure how to continue (or it was unknown if she cared to with her disposition). Her otherworldly features remained set in stone as if she, herself, was part of the decorations. Her teal was a stark contrast to the crimson walls and booth cushions.
For the first time in what felt like hours that they've known each other, Lovely Corpse finally spoke first.
"Purp'se?"

Ah, his purpose. What a perfect thing to ask him about. Ladies usually loved his purpose. Often times it brought tears to their eyes with the way he usually spun it. With a smile he rested his elbows on the table, hooves clasped together.
"My purpose is to be a companion to the lonely," this statement was true, but usually the spiel that came after it was a carefully crafted web of lies. "I can't stand to see anyone friendless. I like to make visits with the senior citizens and i regularly do rounds at the orphanage. I believe that everyone deserves to know the joys of friendship!" Particularly when it benefited himself, like when the miserable crone in the old folks home wrote him into her will.
"I take it your purpose has to do with your magnificent art?"

The teal mare kept her eyes on Happy Endings as he explained in detail what he did, what his life was for, and not once did she blink. Did she even need to blink? Ever? It was questionable. Still, her gaze remained on him the entire time. There were no tears in her eyes, no hint of emotion save for that toothy grin. She was nowhere near disinterested, but it didn't show at all.
"Mm," she hummed, short and to the point. While she didn't question or doubt his gushings, Lovely Corpse didn't have the reaction that the stallion probably wanted.
To his question, she finally nodded. "Mak'n dead thin's prett'." Lovely Corpse responded, eyes still planted squarely on Happy Endings'. "Tho' th're a'ready prett' in th're own ways."
