Something warm and soft? That had Tera's mind whirling through the various familiars that were seen within Matori and over in Oba, sorting through them before he said, "I... think that would be either a zanteer or a quhar? Other then that I can't think of anything soft or fluffy... mostly everything is kind of rough and scaly that lives closest to where we are." The other male would likely have to travel some distance to find something that was really fluffy though.

"I... ummm... thank you?" That was a strange compliment, the sort that one should get from someone that wasn't a stranger, maybe someone that you like liked. Surely the strange young man was just being nice? Or he's some sort of handsy weirdo that Tera needed to watch out for... or so that voice in his head insisted. He gave a humming sound them muttered under his breath, "It just sounds like he's being nice." A response more to the voice in the back of his head then to the young man himself. Not an conversation that he wanted to get into as it would just make him seem weird. As such he shook his head to try to clear such thoughts before turning his attention back to the compliment filled stranger.

"Xewai? It's nice to meet you, my name is Tera." He said, introducing himself to the other male at what seemed like long last since they had been interacting for some time without any names. Something that had felt a bit strange but he supposed that given the situation that he'd found Xewai in that names weren't important until now.

Everything WAS really scaly around here. Maybe that's another reason why he dreamed of leaving his sandy home, to find something worth protecting beyond strangers.

"You're very welcome!" There was enough compliments in his mind and on his tongue to last a lifetime, but soon he was focusing on the rod at his feet. It really was such a shame that the whole thing like that went down. Maybe some of the Hooks weren't even usable anymore now they were contaminated with Matori flesh. At least, he knew he wouldn't want to eat a fish that was happy to snack on Matori!

"A pleasure, Tera! Are you from this area? Do you study magic around here?" It was time to work while he talked; to clean up some of the blood that was on his back, he unwrapped some of the rags he wore about his waist and went back to the sea before them, dunking them in then running them quickly over where the wounds used to be. Soon enough there was no blood on him, and the seawater washed away whatever was in the rag. Now he was just wet. The rags were laid out on the stone. The sun would have no problem drying them out.

Tera pushed to his feet, following along after Xewai after he went into the water, wanting to keep an eye on him. He'd gotten himself a bit beat up after all, lost some blood, and it was best to make sure that he was steady on his feet. It wouldn't be good if he were to fall over due to blood loss and end up drowning in the shallows. Best that he was there nearby just in case the younger male needed to be fished out of the ocean before something with a lot of sharp teeth decided to eat him. The first thing to come to mind was a snaptrotter but he hadn't seen one in this area before... here was to hoping that there weren't any around that would see Xewai as a tasty snack. That was what he was hoping at least while the voice in his head chuckled at the thought.

"I live nearby yes, I was taking a walk when I spotted you." He explained then thought on the second question before he said, "My teacher lives in the village as well, a powerful magic user named Azania. I go to her place for my lessons." And for the occasional sleep over when he wanted to avoid going home he though to himself in an idle manner. Not the sort of thought he shared though.

After a moment of watching Xewai he asked, "How are you feeling? No dizziness?" Best to make sure that everything was well with him and he'd rather talk about Xewai then his home life any day. His teacher, his magic, and his training were all fine, but not home. As such changing the subject felt like the best idea.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 14, 2016 12:25 pm

"Azania? If she's powerful, then maybe some of my colleagues know her... But this particular town? Naw, I'm not too familiar with shop keeps or magic teachers. The kids and the old people around here, yes, definitely!" To be quiet honest, Xewai's preferred look of rags never appealed much to those who had money or power. He was seen as a nuisance and one who would scare away real customers. He had money! Not alot, but he never had to steal for anything. Some people just couldn't get past appearance and Xewai swore to never let that stop him.

"I feel fine, thank you! I know I keep saying it, but you really are kind to help an idiot like me. I've been hurt and stuff so many times that was just my own fault that I've gotten used to getting eye rolls and a view of people's backs. It always made it seem like the world's heart grew cold and didn't really care if young one got hurt if it was their own fault... Which DOES make sense, how else would he learn his lesson? But it's nice... It's really, truly wonderful to have it feel like someone cares for even reckless young dummies like myself!"
For a small moment again, his words lost some of the peppiness he seemed to have endless reserves of, but they were still spoken in earnest. The world really was a great place. A great big wonderful, beautiful place! People just needed to see that more.

"I'm still indebted to you, Tera, even if you think a name is enough. It just doesn't feel right to take such kindness without repaying it, you know? So if there is something I can do, please, let me know."

He was a strange one, but he seemed to be doing well for himself if he knew a lot of the people in the area. He was doing a lot better then Tera who for the most part at least stayed to himself. A habit that he was going to have to break if he meant to find a place of his own one day he realized. Coming out of his thoughts he said, "Well, I am glad that you are feeling good then." It seemed as though the blood loss hadn't really bothered Xewai in any negative manner so he must have tended to him fast enough that he hadn't lost a significant amount of blood. That was good, it meant that he wouldn't just end up passing out once the adrenaline fizzled out.

Giving a little shake of his head as the other said that he was indebted to him. Lifting his hands up he gave them a shake, "It's quite alright, I don't really require anything. I am just happy that I was able to help." He didn't want the younger man to think that he was in need of anything when he was perfectly alright as he was. He couldn't really think of anything that was within the power of someone Xewai's age that he wanted. As such it was best that he tell him as much... but in a manner that sounded nicer. He didn't really want to insult him since he was trying to be nice after all.

"Just knowing that you're going to be alright is plenty, Xewai." There we go, that sounded good, and hopefully something that Xewai would be alright with.

At this point, now that he was safe and sound, and somewhat cleaned, the abandoned fishing rod was picked back up and given a once over. What was he gonna tell that old man who gave him the hooks in the first place? Probably the truth, since that would atleast get a good laugh.

As much as he didn't like it, Xewai had to accept the fact that nothing was wanted from him. Maybe he could pay him back in his own way later on. A nice visit with a gift, maybe? Surprise visit on a bad day! Or a good day? Or even a normal day. People liked surprises right? But in order to do that and not find himself wandering around the village lost, he'd have to find out where the other person lived at. Or at least studied.

"Is your teacher just as nice as you are? Could I meet them?" He gasped loudly in realization! "Could she teach me how to heal people too? I'm probably not any good, but If I could heal just one skinned knee... Wow... Just wow..."

Tera gave a gentle sort of smile and a nod of his head, "Yeah, she is a little touch when it comes to making sure that I put everything into my studying but she is a really kind woman. She's teaching me all manner of interesting spells though I can't quite wrap my head around a few of the elements. Even then though she doesn't scold me for that." It was something that Tera couldn't thank her enough for, feeling as though she was going to help him to really become something one day. So long as he continued to push himself.

"Could she teach you to heal people? I don't see why not. So long as you have some magical aptitude she could surely teach you how to use that power." He wasn't sure if she would be able to help him if he had no magical power in him... but Tera supposed that Xewai really wouldn't know unless he met with a trainer first.

"Do you think we could go meet her right now? I'd like to thank her too, thanking her for teaching you because you did fantastic!" Now he really did have his interest piqued. Magic had never once crossed his mind as something he could do. There always seemed to be a bit of finesse that came with it, and quite honestly, Xewai was a mess. A happy mess, but a mess regardless.

He supposed, more than anything he wanted to be useful to people. He wasn't going to be small forever, that was certain. As he grew older and larger, he just wasn't' going to be the same kid he was, able to sneak into places and gather information noticed. Maybe he would even have to fight... It was a scary thought to even consider.

"Are maybe.. Like uh... Is there such a thing like protection magic?" The first thing that came to mind was a sea creature with a shell. "Even if I can't heal, maybe I could do something like a shell, or... Or a GIANT bubble! People wouldn't get hurt in the first place!"

"Go now?" He murmured, seeming to be thinking about it. That would mean that he would probably be drawn into more lessons, not that he minded that much. Still, he'd been planning to just hang out on the beach for a while, to soak up some sun, and otherwise enjoy himself. At the same time he didn't want to just leave Xewai hanging when he was the one that had brought up his teacher.

As the other started to ask about protection magic Tera considered it for a moment before he nodded his head, "There is a defensive spell called 'wall' that can be used to protect oneself or others. There are also spells used to speed a person up so that they can try to avoid being hit, and other sorts of more defensive type magic. I need to put more of my time into working with those sorts of spells. I'm best with healing type magic and some of the elements presently."

"Let me get Breezy and my things and I can at least show you where my teacher lives. If she's home maybe you can meet with her?" He supposed he could laze around on the beach later, for now he should help Xewai out. You're spoiling the idiot... do you really think he could even use magic the voice in his head mocked him. A thought that he tried to ignore, feeling that if Xewai wanted to try magic he should be allowed.

"Yes, go now! Unless you were busy, I'm sorry, I didn't even stop to consider that!" There was just so much going on in his mind right now, rushing about and trying to make it's way to the forefront. It had hopped around from endless praise of Tera, to a need to learn more about magic. To the idea that maybe, just MAYBE he was beginning to inconvenience someone.

The prentice listened eagerly to the tales of a spell that could, in his mind, be used to create an entire fortress around his group of people that he was to protect! But still... If Tera was busy..

"Um... Well, on second thought, if I'm being a bother, please, let me know. I do have a pretty good grasp of the village. I'm sure you didn't just come to the beach to rescue a poor, dumb kid, so I understand." For as much trouble as he found himself in, Xewai was actually pretty good with following instructions. Honestly, how could he even expect someone he just met to drop everything and entertain his thoughts and actions? That was far too selfish of him, and it often took way too long to realize it.

Tera gave a humming sound, "Well... not busy per say." He wasn't busy, actually it was the exact opposite then that, wasn't it? He felt that if he didn't help Xewai out that he would just be acting in a manner that was rather... lazy. That wasn't how he wanted to act, not when he was the one that knew where his teacher was, not Xewai. If he were to tell him that he was busy when what he'd been planning to do was just play in the ocean it wouldn't be very nice of him. No, he should help him out.

Hm? It seemed as though Xewai was changing his mind, mentioning that he didn't want to be a bother. You're being a giant bother the voice in Tera's head seemed to call out, not as though Xewai could here it. On the outside though Tera said, "It's not a bother. I was only planning to play in the ocean while Breezy basked. Not helping you out because I wanted to be lazy doesn't seem all that nice of me."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 17, 2016 4:08 pm

Xewai actually seemed to huff a little, his hands moving to his hips in an exasperated manner. "Well, you're an adult! Or... Atleast adultish! And you probably work really hard to get where you're at now! So who am I to go and want you to do anything on your day off!"

Plus it WAS a lovely day, there wasn't a rain cloud in sight -yet- so why not take the time to enjoy the beach and the ocean. Especially the ocean.

"You deserve the break! You should enjoy it! Just tell me where to go, and I'll head to your teacher's place m'self. Ooh, or better yet, maybe we could meet up later for lunch or something, my treat, and we can bring a snack or something for your teacher! Teachers like offerings, right?" Not that Xewai really knew much about having teachers. All of the people in the Buhawi had something to learn from one another, but Paligia was the only 'real' teacher. And she did like her sweetbreads.

Tera's fin ears gave a little twitch as he was referred to as being at least 'adultish' and he felt himself flushing just a bit as Xewai didn't think that he should have to work on his day off when he 'probably worked really hard'. He gave a slight nod of his head. He supposed that was true when it came to his magical training though he still did feel a little bad not bringing him to where it was that he wanted to go.

"Ahh... well... I could give you directions, yes." He said, wishing that he'd thought to bring everything with him that he usually dragged around. No luck though since he hadn't thought that he would need paper and a writing utensil. It would have been easy enough for him to draw out a quick map of how to get to his teacher's place from here... but given that he'd forgotten to grab such things he would have to explain instead. After a moment of thought he started to explain how to get there, including land marks that Xewai should know since he seemed to know the village well enough.

After he explained he said, "If she isn't home you can check back later. Her son Jraie might be around as well. He's a somewhat prickly guy at times but not too bad. He's not a mage though so he wouldn't be able to help as far as magical things are concerned."

There was a little relief that Xewai felt once the other agreed to just tell him where to go. As much as he did want to spend more time with this newly discovered acquaintance, he really really didn't want to seem to be a bother. He knew he was overwhelming and exhausting at times, so when someone was trying to do something to relax, he knew he really shouldn't be around. His questions and queries were endless, and he'd happily go on for hours and hours and hours. But peace and quiet was required to relax, right?

The instructions were nice and clear, and each land mark was committed to memory. Azania's place was located on a road he had walked a billion times, but had never really thought about. Okay, maybe not so much walk as ran through like a crazy person, because who has time to actually walk?

"I'll stop by right now, but if she isn't hope, then I might have to try another time when I'm in town. I dunno when that'd be, though... But that's just part of the fun when it comes to traveling!"
After scanning the ground to see if anything was left that he needed to pick up, the kid adjusted his top just a bit before beaming at Tera. "It was wonderful to meet you, and I thank you again for helping me back there! I'll be sure to find a way to thank you some how the next time we meet! Unless the next time we meet is in the next couple of hours or so. I don't think I'm THAT good at planning things out. Ahahahaha!"

Tera gave a nod of his head and said, "Good luck with your meeting with her." He wondered how it would turn out, if the young man had magical aptitude or not. It was hard for Tera to say really, but if Xewai did have the ability to cast he definitely had infinite amounts of energy to use when it came to casting spells. He would end up as a good mage from that aspect for certain.

Giving a smile Tera said, "It was nice to meet you too, Xewai. I am glad that I was able to help you out." It was lucky that he came to this part of the beach and was able to be on hand when the other Matorian needed him. It was a good test of his of his powers and allowed him to use them in a setting that wasn't just a test. As Xewai continued to talk about finding a way to thank him he just gave a chuckle and a nod, "Alright, though I really don't require any grand gesture as thanks, Xewai. Just a thank you was more then enough." He supposed that he couldn't really stop him if he was determined though now could he?
