Shun closed the door once Chel returned with her supplies. Rather than answer her verbally, he just pointed at the TV. Right now one of the many swim races was going on. Or rather, it had just ended with one of the swimmers touching the wall on the final lap.
After doing that, he made his way to the kitchen to brew himself a cup of tea.

Well, that was nice. At least Shun had some spirit about him, even if it was passively.
"Yeah me an' Chris always rootin' for Phelps. Dude's a stoner and world champion? ******** yeah." She leaned forward for her little bowl of chex mix and cradled it in her lap. "You got any favorites?"

"Phelps's athletic skill is certainly respectable. I have to wonder if anyone can top him this year," Shun commented as he kept his gaze on the pot for the time being.
"I have no favorites, personally. The top athletes, the underdogs, and everyone in between have their merits. They would not be there if not for being among the best of the best in their sport."

Chel snorted. Somehow that sentence was so stiff, and yet it fit him so well.
"Fo sho, it's fun t'watch. Y'gotta root for the US though. We're the best after all." She cracked open the beer with her hands; slightly impressive all things considered. That or a sign she'd opened too many in her time. "How 'bout a favorite sport then? You all about that ping pong life??"

A low grunt escaped Shun while he poured the hot water into his cup.
"While the United States certainly has a large amount of top athletes, I do know know if we can really be considered the best. Other countries have remarkable competitors as well."
With the cup in hand, he made his way out of the kitchen and looked to the tv. The programming had switched to some men's gymnastics.
"A variety. The various martial arts based sports are always enjoyable to watch."

"Them's fightin' words," she said with a snort. Somewhere vaguely she knew the US wasn't the best, but she'd been raised in a house with a lot of yelling when the Best Teams didn't win. The US had to be the best, for her own sake in some cases.
"Ah yeah- 'cause you do all that s**t right? Man it'd be cool t'see you on TV." She put some chex mix in her mouth and then looked over at him, standing and watching. "You can sit f'you want t'watch, glassbutt. I don't bite, promise."

Shun narrowed his eyes at her, but he did actually sit down this time around. On the opposite end of the couch. He took a sip of his tea, then set the cup down onto the coffee table for the time being.
"Even if I somehow possessed the skill to compete on that level... I would not. I have too much work."

She let him have his space. She was learning, slowly.
"Really? F'I was that good, I'd get my a** on TV so fast. You know how much ********' goes on there? Must be ********' insane."
There was a pause, and then she snorted. "

There was a light shrug from him.
"I am aware. They give out condoms like candy in the olympic village."
Shun wasn't really comfortable with the idea of being internationally known. All that attention and eyes on him... Yeah no. That definitely wasn't his sort of thing.

Meanwhile, Chel would have probably single-handedly brought down the United States' reputation. Better that she wasn't competing, really.
"It'd be nice just t'get them fer free, y'know? s**t's not expensive or nothin' ..." Still an expense though.
"I think I'd wanna do swimmin'. A lot of hot people in that category. Gymnastics though ..." She gestured to the screen as an example of what she meant.

Shun gave her a sidewards glance.
"You just want to ******** Phelps," he stated flatly. With a shrug, he glanced to the TV just in time to see one of the gymnasts, who was currently suffering a knee injury, take to the pommel horse to do a short routine.
"Damn."

"Daaaamn straight," she said, raising her glass. Who wouldn't take up the opportunity to hop on an olympic athlete?
She watched the performance with a frown. "That's ..." It became all the more painful to watch as it went on. "Damn," she agreed, taking to a long sip of her beer.

"Risky. But respectable," Shun commented as he picked up his tea to take another drink. He leaned back in the couch, watching as the gymnast hobbled away after his brief routine. Honestly, he probably would have done the same in his shoes.

"He's a baller," she agreed. She leaned forward to set the chex mix down, instead opting for the plate of pretzals. She offered it to Shun before taking one for herself.
She took the dip bowl to put it on the couch and attempted to scoot a little closer; if only so he could reach the bowl between them as well and share. Then she looked back at the screen. "You think they'll give him bonus points fer it or nah?"
