- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Leading Shira into the kitchen, Kain had a different look on his face. While most would be tired from all the work done today, the last thing they'd want to do is work, especially in a hot kitchen. However, Kain had a look of excitement on his face. Almost as if he enjoyed this. As the two entered the kitchen, the intense heat would hit them, instantly. Just stepping into the kitchen would cause them to sweat. Sighing, Kain knew that this was a big problem. "Looks like they forgot to turn on the A/C and open the ventilation shafts.....again." he muttered, sounding annoyed. Letting go of Shira's hand, Kain would go and handle this situation, turning on the A/C and opening up the shafts. As the steam and heat shot up into the vents, the cool air would be felt coming from the A/C. Making his way back to Shira, Kain sighed once more. "This is like the fifth time, they've forgotten to do this. It's no wonder the head chef passed out." he stated before motioning for Shira to follow him to the Head Chef's station. "Alright, hands are washed, hair is tied, sleeves are rolled. I say we're ready." Almost immediately after he said this, a waiter would come and hand Kain his first order. "Okay, Shira, we're making a simple chicken risotto. We can do the prep work together." he stated with a smile.

"How does anyone work at this temperature?" she asked. Then Kain answered by revealing that they had forgotten to turn on the A/C and ventilation. Once he seemed to do that, the temperature in the kitchen became more bearable. As the first order came in, Shira glanced over at Kain, smiling slightly "O-Okay," she replied, obviously still nervous about cooking, let alone in a rather popular restaurant like this. ▬ ▬ ▬

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - While he had been busy at prepping the the food and whatnot, Kain's eyes would shoot over towards Shira. She was still a little nervous about cooking and who could blame her. With a smile on his face, Kain would make his way over to Shira and stood behind her. "You don't have to be so nervous. When we work together, we can do anything." he stated before he placed his hands on top of hers, having his fingers intertwine with hers. He then went on to help her with the prep work, while gently resting his torso up against hers. Clearly this scene would cause some of the staff to become a little...intrigued, as it wasn't often that their owner and his partner, who happened to be Lady Death, would be making food and flirting with one another at the same time.

A warm smile appeared on her face then and she nodded, intertwining her fingers with his. Once they moved on to prepping the food, Shira felt a lot more confident thanks to Kain's words. She began cutting up some of the vegetables that would go into the risotto. She was a bit slow at first with the knife but quickly began picking up the pace. ▬ ▬ ▬

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Once Shira had cut up the onions and such, Kain would chop up some chicken breast that had already been cooked and bring it over along with a pan. Adding the chicken and vegetables into the pan, he would then saute them. As they were near completion, he then added the rice to the mix and let it cook. "See? Pretty simple, right?" Kain asked Shira as another order came in. "Ah! This time it is just plain old lasagna."

She watched curiously while he did so before they seemed finished. Hearing Kain, Shira nodded "For the most part, yes. Pretty simple," she replied. She smiled up at him as the next order came in "What would you like me to do, chef?" she asked with a slight teasing tone. ▬ ▬ ▬

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Hearing Shira, Kain would smile and hand her the ground meat as well as various seasonings and salts. "I would like for you to knead the seasonings, salts and veggies, in with the meat. While I prepare the pasta." With that, Kain would get to work on the pasta and once Shira had successfully blended the other ingredients together, he began prepping the lasagna. After a few more minutes, the duo would ship out yet another completed dish. Kain and Shira, worked with such good chemistry that the two of them together, made for a great team. So much so, that they alone prepared and sent out over a hundred dishes in about 2 hours. As time flew by, the restaurant would slowly begin to lose customers, until there was just one couple remaining. Once they had finished their meal, the couple would leave and with them, the end of a very hectic day. Going back to the kitchen, we see Kain and Shira, both covered in flour and other remnants of their cooking. It was now closing time. Wiping the sweat from his brow, Kain would see off his employees as they all cleaned up their stations and clocked out. This went on for a good hour until the only ones left in the dimly lit restaurant was Kain and Shira. Looking towards Shira, Kain gave her a tired smile, but that would be interrupted by his stomach growling. Through out all of this, the pair never really had a chance to eat or even order their food. "Ah! I nearly forgot." Kain exclaimed as he ran towards a lightly heated oven and pulled out two dishes, one was the lasagna dish that they prepared earlier and the second would be Kain's own homemade Alfredo, "I made sure to keep these heated and fresh." he stated as he brought over the dishes, the lasagna for him and the Alfredo for Shira. "It may be a little late but your order's ready." Kain teased.

Over the time they cooked, Shira would occasionally ask questions. Usually how much of something went into a dish or how long it should cook for. Other than that, she seemed to pick up cooking rather quickly. It was interesting. Shira was always served food. She had never had to raise a finger to make her own meal. Sometimes she would get herself some crackers or something simple like a sandwich but nothing overly complicated. As she was cooking with Kain, Shira was enjoying herself. Cooking was rather therapeutic in her mind. And finalizing a dish and seeing all that hard work sitting there waiting to be enjoyed by a customer reminded her of finishing a painting or a drawing after hours of work and having it enjoyed by viewers. Finally, everyone including the staff left. Shira had finished cleaning her little station in the kitchen and had sat down on a chair that she had grabbed, realizing how exhausted she was. Hearing Kain's stomach, Shira muffled a laugh though she then noticed just how hungry she was as well. Shira's eyes lit up at Kain brought out the food he had been saving for them. She muffled a laugh then "Thank you," she replied before quickly digging into her food. It was delicious. "It actually feels nice eating after working very hard for so long. It makes the food taste better in my opinion," she commented before she went back to eating the Alfredo. ▬ ▬ ▬

Though, this is the first time, I actually had the chance to sit down and truly enjoy a meal that I've cooked." Despite being the owner and a chef in his own right, Kain wasn't one for cooking all that much. He rarely cooks stuff on his own, usually he just buys something or at the very least have it already prepared by someone else. As he began eating his lasagna, Kain's mouth would water, "Eating something prepared by you, is something I've always wanted to try." he revealed, as Shira didn't really cook much or at all.

It seemed as though he was truly going to analyze her dish. "Well...it's delicious." Kain stated. "The meat is perfectly cooked and I can taste each individual spice. It blends perfectly. I truly enjoy this." With that said, Kain would take another bite.

As two continued to eat their dinner, Kain, found himself staring at Shira every now and then. At times like this, where there is no fighting, no trouble, just peace and quiet, Kain would picture the future that he and Shira could have. A peaceful future, with no wars, no kishins, just regular people, living and cherishing their time. Where he and Shira would live in a simple home in Death City, with their own family. A future where he has a family that he can truly call his own. "I will make that future come true." Kain blurted out loud.

It would be a fun hobby to pick up though. I'll leave the professional stuff to you and Mirai," she explained before she went back to eating the Alfredo, savoring every bite. She suddenly glanced up at Kain as he blurted something about making a future come true. Her mouth was full of pasta so she managed a small "Hm?" as she looked at him. ▬ ▬ ▬

Though he figured that Shira wouldn't mind hearing what he had, Kain didn't want to spoil this lovely meal they were having with something that would undoubtedly spark another intense conversation between the two. Kain knew full well that he and Shira had different views when it came to fighting and their future together. "Ah, it's nothing of importance, just future thoughts and whatnot." he would say.
