Sounds good to me!

This time the attack came from the front, and although she could see there was no way to prevent the incoming strike, she did see an opening in her opponent’s defense. She grimaced as the claws struck her, but used the range at which Marisol attacked to her advantage. She brought the hilt of her sword down against the other woman’s shoulder as she moved back from the strike, hoping to discourage another close- and strong- attack.

This match was indeed more frustrating than fighting dummies. There were no surprise quick attacks when fighting them, just a steady barrage of incremental damage that gradually wore her down. This on the other hand, this was exhausting. She didn’t know how much longer she could hold out before calling it quits.

[Result: 100%, 6 Dmg]

[Catherine: 26-8= 18 HP, Longsword, Melee & Balanced, 6 Dmg & Initiative +0]

The hilt came down hard on her shoulder and she had no choice but to let it. She was too close to dodge, too close to do much of anything. It was worse than the dummy's attacks; it wasn't the worst she'd ever felt though, which at the moment didn't seem like much of a blessing.

Forcing the wince of the pain away to deal with later, she covered it with a wide grin. She hoped it was disconcerting as she brazenly went for the woman's bicep. With the hilt poised downward, the blade was of no use to even attempt to block. Once the hit was in, she jumped backwards to give herself more room to manuever. There wasn't much left in either of them, she felt. Either Catherine's next strike would take them out or she'd get lucky and the woman would miss.

    Marisol's Health: 20 - 6 = 14 HP
    Damage Dealt: Roll + 1 = 100% x 4 = 4 DMG

    Marisol's Weapon: Claws (4 Base; +1 Hit)

If it wasn’t for the mark of the Chosen, Cat didn’t know if she’d still be standing. Her opponent was fierce, and adaptable, and terrifying with this wide grin spread across her face- Cat herself felt she’d been stuck in a constant grimace since this battle began.

The last attack on her bicep couldn’t be helped, but she took advantage of her opponent’s backwards movement to move in on the aggressive. She lunged forward with a yell, hoping this would bring the duel to an end, and slashed at the opposing woman’s stomach.

A curse almost slipped past her lips as she felt the blade against her stomach. She was spent but she couldn't just give up. Instead she took advantage of her opponent's closeness and lunged forward, claws ripping against whatever skin she connected with before darting away and holding up a hand.

"I don't know about you," she huffed, breath heavy in her chest, "but I think I'm ready to collapse." She waited to be sure the woman wasn't going to attack and then sunk down, ripping the claws from her hands, and offering a tired grin. "You're pretty good."

    Marisol's Health: 14 - 6 = 8 HP
    Damage Dealt: Roll + 1 = 200% x 4 = 8 DMG

    Marisol's Weapon: Claws (4 Base; +1 Hit)

So this is what it felt like to dip below the protection given by Athena? Well … it sucked. Where the other attacks against her had felt horrible and left her feeling drained, some would probably leave bruises, this was an entirely different feeling. She was thankful now that they didn’t train with the genuine article or she may have needed stitches from that last hit, as it was she would be left with some not-so-shallow scratches on her hip.

She eyed her opponent wearily, was she really ready to give up after getting in a strike like that? But wasn’t so competitive as to need to get the last hit in or spar until someone ended up passing out, so she replied between heavy breaths, “Yeah, I’m through,” and sank to the floor. She laid the sword down beside her and returned the woman’s grin with a warm smile, “Thanks, it’s been a while since I trained with a sword, but you’re none too shabby yourself.” She did some floor stretches to cool down and extended a hand to her opponent, “I’m Catherine, well Cat, by the way. It’d be great to train with you again some time.”

"Marisol," she returned, taking the woman's proffered hand and shaking it briefly. She was a sweaty mess after that battle and really wanted nothing more than to sit in the shower, possibly take a nap.

"I've never actually used claws before," she admitted with a chuckle, "so far the whip has been my best weapon in practices."

That's a wrap. mrgreen

Cat’s eyes widened in surprise, “Really? You seemed a natural- definitely an even match, which I guess isn’t saying much for my rusty swordsmanship.” She chuckled lightly and stood, picking up her sword with a smile, “Well I’m exhausted, and could do with a shower, so I guess I’ll see you later.”

"It helps being short," she chuckled then raised a hand to wave off the other woman. A shower sounded good, she thought, as she pushed herself off the floor and went to return the practice whip. Or maybe she'd just go dive into the lake and then shower. Either way she was done with sparring for today.
