“Alright then my apologies.” Shadiya could only shake her head at the mountain of food this other girl was wanting. All she could do was hope that if there were leftovers that she could perhaps bring something back for Dexurn. Though at this rate it may be late by the time she returned ‘home’. Speaking of the meal, Shadiya flushed brilliantly at the intended meaning of the Matori’s phrase.
“Not, like that! Not that I mean to offend you – you’re cute, but I have someone and he’s…” When she realized that the other girl was simply teasing, Shadiya hung her head. “Don’t mind me. I think I left my brain back somewhere in Oba.” Sometimes truly she wasn’t the smartest of earthlings. “As it is you’re right – I was thinking maybe it would be nice to have someone to tell my story to.”

Laughing, Nadiya shook her head at the dancer. “No worries! It seems you might have a lot on your mind that such a simple tease ruffled your feathers so much.” Leaning forward her gaze glimmered with interest, “If you’re looking for someone to tell a story to then you’re definitely making the right decision! I may use some bits for a ballad, but all secrets are safe with me. No one can ever tell the source of my stories unless they’re intended to do so.”
As the server left their drinks, Nadiya grabbed her mug and took a swig. “So feel free to speak. The floor err…table is all yours, Shade.” And with that flushed reaction earlier – it seemed like a bit of romance was involved in the tale. Perhaps a forbidden love? Now wouldn’t that be lovely…

“You are pretty eager.” Shadiya replied lightly, “I hope my story is as good as you’re making it appear.” Still even as she thought about it the girl found herself just swirling the dark crimson liquid in her glass. Was it truly alright to just speak out here? Even with no one around was it truly safe to trust this girl?
But perhaps this Nadiya could help give her answers. Wouldn’t feedback be nice after all? A battle plan…an idea of something. Actually that made her think, “Are you traveling away from Tale and Zena by chance?” Shadiya looked up as the idea hit her, “And you’re good at telling tales that spread around? Almost like a pattern across Tendaji?”

Frowning the girl was getting impatient that there was yet to be a story. Still, something must have struck Shadiya and Nadiya found herself leaning closer. “Yes?” The girl blinked, “I usually don’t stay in one place for long and actually may be staying in Sauti around Oba for a bit. Even Jahaur may be on my list for a place to visit again soon…” That way she could meet up with her brother. Though Oba also had a few things in store for the girl as well – something she would find out soon enough.
“Are you wanting me to do something?”

Perfect! Nodding the dancer reached forward and grabbed the girl’s hands, “A favor yes. I’ll give you all of my story – you can pester me for as many details as you want even. In return I need you to spread rumors of a crimson haired dancer going through Oba towards Jauhar. I don’t want anyone to believe I’m in Tale or Sauti.” She bit her bottom lip, “Could you do that for me?”
“Honestly, I’m on the run from my uncle who is a noble in Oba. He wanted to marry me off, but I refused. Now I’m traveling with someone very dear to me and I don’t wish to worry him any longer. He already saved me recently from bounty hunters…so I wish to change my appearance and travel safely without worry. If rumors of a dancing beauty start appearing in Oba then perhaps that will lead them away from me.”

“Of course!” Nadiya almost bounced out of her chair as she squeezed the other girl’s hands, “That’s a great idea! I’ll take your story, change some of it, but make certain to spread the rumors that you’re back the opposite way. So they won’t even think to see if you’ve changed how you look even! Ooooh, wouldn’t that make me a part of the story then as well?”
A bard who helps a maiden desperate to live her life freely with her dearest love…
Nadiya loved the sound of that. “You definitely have a deal, Shade. Just trust me and I’ll make sure that everyone in Oba and Jauhar hear about this crimson hair dancer with enchanting eyes.”

Enchanting eyes? Shadiya flushed lightly at the compliment before settling down in her seat, “It’s a bit of a tale so make certain you have plenty of drink.” She teased lightly, “Honestly it all began with my mother who was a part of a high noble family. She fell in love with a merchant who wanted nothing more than to win her hand, but of course he had to earn his way into her family’s blessing….”
And so the story began.
