She wished she could say something to sooth that bite in his voice. Taijana wasn't a healer, she wasn't even equipped enough to hand children when they cried, so what did she expect do? Sit awkwardly in the driver's seat, it looked like, with her head down.

"They've taken worse for less," she quipped before realizing what she'd said. Taijana squeaked and placed a hand over her mouth. What was wrong with her? First she was bad mouthing her mother and now the Gods?! Did she WISH to be struck down?

"Do you...do you really think so? I'm not...I'm just not so sure."
It had been her secret, unholy dream since she was small to be the one out of her siblings with the soul. After all, multiples only carried one and the others were spiritual copies. Taijana had never vocalized it, but she had wanted to be someone worthy of owning a soul.

What if her mother had been lying about all of that. About the souls...

And if the limbara could trust her...

"Do you think that...do you think multiples, like twins or even triplets, could all be born with souls?"

Tac looked up with surprise at the voiced scrutiny of the gods. Worse for less? She couldn't be dismissing his mother so easily... After a moment, he couldn't help but to burst out laughing. It was a strange sound to his ears; his genuine laugh having lacked use for some time now... Somehow, it eased the anger that had been digging at him. "Yes. I suppose they have."

The hesitant question about souls made him c**k his head curiously. Twins or triplets... Souls... "I'll admit, I haven't met many multiples. I've never given it much thought. ..Allow me a moment, if you would." Observing the woman a second, he looked up at the sky again as he pondered. After that moment, he nodded firmly. "Wouldn't a body without a soul think only of survival? Wouldn't it only think of the basic necessities to live? It would lack desire for anything except food, water, and shelter. Each body has to be born with a soul. That's how I see it."

While he pondered Taijana tried not to squirm. She was painfully aware of just how 'on the spot' she had placed herself. What if he found a reason to agree with her mother? Taijana hadn't asked anyone else for fear of having her worries validated, and now she wished she hadn't said anything.

"I-it would, wouldn't it? Only think of survival." She had spent her entire life taking care of her family, her sister was far too gossipy to ever be that set on her own survival, but Tyrios...Oh no. The thought made her stomach pitch. What if...what if he...But that wouldn't make sense! One out of the three, yes, but two? It would explain why her brother didn't look like them, despite being a triplet; just his gender was enough to set him apart.

"I see the inn from here, so my stops coming up. Do you live close? I can take you wherever you need to go."

It was rather interesting, watching the woman's various thoughts flicker across her features. She must have been one of multiples, showing such concern and relief. It was also interesting that she was brave enough to question what was considered "understood" in their culture.

"I'm not too much further. I don't wish to be a further inconvenience for you though. I can walk from the inn."

"It's no bother." It didn't take long for Taijana to coax the limbara closer to his aforementioned destination. When she pulled the creature to a stop it seemed happy to do so. Despite the relatively short distance, it was obvious the limbara wasn't used to moving much these days and getting around was proving to be a hassle.

She turned her torso to look at the stranger. "It was nice getting to talk to you. If you need any pelts or meat while I'm here, just send word to the inn."

As subtly as he could, he enjoyed the lift. Now, he wouldn't be so tired tomorrow for work.

Carefully climbing off the cart, he made sure he had all of his things. The ride would have been pointless if he forgot something and had to go chasing after her! Content that he had it, he walked to the front of the cart, his eyes on the limbara while he talked to the woman. "Thank you for the lift. I'm glad this benefited both of us." Slowly, tenderly, he reached out to pat the limbara again. Maybe he could go back to using them for certain things...

The mention of possible needs made him send his gaze back to the woman. "I'll keep that in mind." Though he turned back to the building, he walked slower than he needed to, his mind already getting lost where he normally hated it to go. Limbara...
