"Gotta say," America admitted, "books that hold like, movies in them instead of words are probably more up my alley." She laughed at the thought of it, but seemed interested despite them maybe not being the most helpful. "Just about everything like that's perspective, even if the person wrote it down all regular-like. 'Sides, I'm getting a bit of experience n'all, borrowing someone's perspective." She grinned at Zac, letting him lead the way. "Sounds a treat. I should visit the regular version sometime, too. Been meaning to stop by." The mention of people's memories reminded her of something else. "Oh! have you seen these bobby glowy baloony creature floating about, from time to time? I touched a couple, and they let me know little secrets." She waggled her eyebrows, "Better steer clear of those unless you want the hot gossip."

That… those sound like Pokémon, only chatty.” He admitted as she told him about the bobby glowing balloon creatures that he had in fact, never seen. “What … what kind of gossip was it?” he was curious, and maybe a little tiny bit nosey, just a tiny bit.

"You know there's a postman who watches your Netflix videos? And a guy licking doorknobs?" She laughed and wrinkled her nose at the memory. "The dirty little secret sort, far as I can tell." As they walk, it's easy to see how enchanted she is with the place, grim and rainy as it may be. Her hands reach out to trace ledges and she pauses at shop windows, peering in to see whatever oddities they might hold. "Seems thought and memory got a special hold over this place."

He laughed, half delighted by the absurdity of it. “Wow… that’s… well it’s both creepy and kind of hilarious.” What she said though, that memory and thought had a special hold though, that had him nodding. “Yeah, yeah I think that’s a good way to put it.” He murmured. “Which makes sense I guess, since things have I guess happened before.” “Just enough to make you curious, and just enough to make me feel stupid too.” He admitted sheepishly. “I mean I have thoughts, but… “ he shook his head again. “Yeah… um, thank you though, thank you for letting me talk to you.”

With a small laugh, America gave Zac a grin and raised eyebrow. "Well, we're friends right? No need to thank me for talking it up with you. Gotta say, the past stuff, I'm curious as he'll. But it's not nearly as important as the now stuff or the tomorrow stuff." She shook her head. "If there was a past me, she's old news." Catching sight of some dust in a window corner, she moves to inspect it before moving away and on. Abruptly, she began, "Something special to you, that has meaning, something solid that'll stay with you. That's the first part of what we'd need to make you one of these," America tapped her chest. "You need something to write with, ink of sorts. And then we gotta gather some magic dust from here. The sort that might mean protection."

He blinked at her surprised, before fumbling for a moment and pulling out the longest cord around his neck. A key rendered in silver with an ornate head was handed carefully over to her. “I’m not even sure what it goes to, I mean, the original key. It was really old and I saved a bunch and got it cast in silver cause I thought it was awesome. I mean, who doesn’t like keys right? Especially if you have the right ones.” If nothing else he was especially curious to see how she did this. It wasn’t like any talent he’d seen demonstrated before.

It looked big enough didn't it? "Yeah, that should do. If it's important to you, it'll do just fine. I got some ink in my bag, so the last thing is dust. I got some of that but..." America grinned at Zac, "let's get something more fresh. The dust you want is a special sort, not special to you but special with a meaning. The sort I got, when I gathered it, it seemed to mean shelter of a sort. I think for this, hiding and the like could probably do as well too. You can get it from places where there's flowers and birds and such things." She pauses, searching her mind for Gloom's words. "But the where isn't as important as its meaning." With a huff of laughter, America went on, "I spent a good while thinking about the meanings of things. I've told you before, I'm not the book sorta girl. You'll probably do better figuring it out than I did."

“I was, almost going to suggest the library but that’s because I spent a lot of time hiding in the library stacks, but I don’t know if bird and flowers printed on paper would count.” He said with a small smile. “And… No even if you’re not the book sort of girl, I think maybe you have a better grasp of it than I ever would have. I’d have been searching through book after book and wondering why I wasn’t getting the results I expected on a book-learning level.” He laughed. “No…this, this sounds like its perfect magic for someone who’s not caught up in walls of printed text.” He glanced at her thoughtful. “So, where do you find good ‘hiding’ dust?”

Rocking back on her heels, she considers it the question without trying to argue about the book thing. Zac was a nice guy. The sort that wouldn't want her to feel stupid, not even a little, if he could help it. Reaching up, America rubbed her thumb thoughtfully across the smooth stone of the brooch. "In a good hiding place." She nodded quietly to the thought. "Maybe think like something small. Something small, trying to stay safe and dry in a place like this."

He looked thoughtful with her. He really did believe about different ways of thinking about things. Lord knew if nothing else he got caught up in assuming he was just wrong about things. “Like… in a little cave or… well I mean I’d say in like a nest or something, an abandoned one but I’m not sure how dusty they would be.”

"I think just about most places out of the rain got a bit of dust to 'em," America considered. "Though this place is all sorts of magic, so the only way we'll know is if we look."

"Grab it and come back." From her bag, America pulled out an empty little spice jar and handed it over to him. "I'll be scouting out a good place do it." And also work through remembering how Gloom had taught her, had helped to guide her power. In truth, she needed a few moments to relive the lesson and make sure she did this right. endejester You're fine ~ just go with ur heart ~ ! If you need a frame of reference ~ This is the initial instruction rp This is America gathering different types of dust This is where Gloom teaches her the glyph

“Alright.” He nodded thoughtful. “Then… I will go find some, and I will come back.” He promised. “Oh… wait, um… should it be in this Ashdown or um, well –regular Ashdown without all the rain? Sorry I mean, I just didn’t want to get the wrong kind of dust. I mean, I might know a little place, I haven’t been there in ages in… that side of things, and I don’t think I’ve ever looked on this side. I assume you mean this side but... ” He managed to stop himself, but it was a close call. "...annnd over thinking, aren't I." He turned red.

With a huff of laughter, America shooed him off. "Gotta be this side, hun. Where the magic happens, right?" She wiggled her fingers with a wink.
