"Hang out with Shiloh," he said, laughing because it was probably an obvious answer. "We get icees a lot."

For a moment he lapsed into silence, petting Bergamot with a slow, steady hand. Only a few months ago he would've been stunned by the mossy growth budding off of him, but now he left it alone like it was normal. It was normal, it was now anyway, and that sort of thing made Jamie think.

"Hey, Mist- er, Chris...? What's your hometown like?" He'd mentioned home and that made Jamie think, too. Before all of this Otherworld stuff, Ashdown had felt so average. A lovely small town with plenty of nature. And now...

Book clutched tightly to his chest and eyes alight with the fact his visit had been answered at all, Jamie smiled. "Hello!" And then he noticed the phone in Chris's hand. His expression fell just a touch. "Um... are you busy?"

It was difficult to hear when Chris spoke into the phone again, but it was definitely recognizable as not-English. He knew he shouldn't have been prying.

"I can... come back later if that's better? I don't want to interrupt..." Even though Jamie had been excited about giving Chris the gift, he didn't want to be a bother.

"Really?" Chris laughed himself a little, checked a little more off the paper. "I shouldn't be surprised, but that sounds nice. I'm glad you two are friends."

He let the silence happen, used to it from frequent nights at Thorne's. There was just the rustled of the paper as he went through a nicer essay, one that at least had some effort put into it so that he didn't have to mark up more of it than necessary. It was because of that, that when Jamie asked his question Chris stopped to think.

"Jejudo? It's an island, it's kind of similar to Ashdown actually. You have to ferry to get there, so it's kind of cut off from the mainland. More beach than Ashdown though and it's a little warmer, more coastal. I spent a lot of time on that beach as a kid, it was a nice place to grow up. " He hummed a little, "I think you would've liked it, the ocean was nice. Lots of fish and things to see."

"No," Chris said immediately, a little too quickly. He was obviously very desperate in trying to get off the phone. "I'm not busy at all, in fact, I'm very free."

The last words were said so pointedly, they should have ended the conversation there. Instead, the other on the phone suddenly began to speak much faster. Chris paled for a second and then, gave Jamie a questioning look.

"Um," He said. "So my sister is on the phone and she wants to talk to you. Quite forcefully. You don't have to if you don't want to! Obviously! But uh. Do you want to talk to her?"

As he listened, Jamie closed his eyes and sank further into the couch. His hand became one with Bergamot and ceased to move. For a minute or two he let himself imagine what it would be like as Chris described it. Sounded wonderful, honestly. Sounded like a vacation he desperately needed.

He could hear birds overhead as he stooped to the water. It was refreshing against his ankles and his fingertips. The breeze smelled salty and sweet.

After a long, lingering moment he breathed in deeply and exhaled a sigh, eyes refusing to open just yet. Beneath his eyelids, he continued to imagine the swirls of swimming fish.

"It sounds nice... I... I wish I could see it sometime."

Jamie was the one to pale this time, eyes widening, fingers gripping tighter at the book. She wanted to talk to him? But why?? Ohhhh, that sounded absolutely frightening. If he'd learned anything in the past two minutes, it was that apparently Chris's sister was forceful.

"Um, I, uhhh..." he stumbled over ideas for an excuse, but at the same time he certainly didn't want to upset anyone. It wouldn't be that bad to have a quick conversation, right? Be cool, Delacroix, be cool. Jamie gave one last look at his escape route, then forgo it completely, choosing to squeeze past Chris and into the familiar apartment instead.

"I... I can."

Memories of his childhood teased him at the back of his mind, idly times spent on the beach with Hyejin or gardening. The nice weather that was had during the summer, the roar of the tide and the sound of the gulls.

A place that he treasured to this day, somewhere he wanted to go back to. Not to stay, but to have another visit there. See everyone.

"I wish you could too," Chris said honestly. Jamie was someone he wouldn't mind taking with him to Jejudo - he would be a lovely companion to seeing everything. "A trip even for me would be far off though, but maybe sometime I'll be able to go back. See everyone and everything again. I think my parents are going to retire there, honestly."

"You don't have to!" Chris reassured Jamie, seeing how pale he was getting. Jamie was probably not the best person to hand the phone over to, god he had been so nervous talking to Chris in the past even. But Hyejin was well. Hyejin.

Chris was not able to bully her as well as she could bully him back, years of blackmail not even included.

But Jamie made his choice and Chris just nodded and handed him the phone. Hoped that Hyejin wouldn't be too... herself.

On the other end of the phone, once Jamie could hear it, was a very nice sounding, "Hello?"

It sounded kind of unnervingly like Chris, down to the Ashdown accent and all, which was strange considering she was in Korea.

Though his eyes remained closed, Jamie started to pet Bergie again, the softest of scritches at the side of his neck. It was a peaceful atmosphere. He was glad Chris had texted him.

"Someday..." he said dreamily. The more he slouched, the more it looked like he might doze off any second. "Someday, if it's... not a bother to take me, let's go. Do you think they'd like me?" And then he actually laughed a little; a tiny but jovial sort of sound.

For a split second Jamie wondered if they were twins. If he hadn't already known someone with a twin, even though he hadn't met Oliver personally, that probably wouldn't have been his first thought.

"Um... h-hello?" he responded, cautiously testing the waters. She sounded kind and Jamie doubted Chris would have any regular contact with someone mean, sister or not. The anxiety was ingrained in him, unfortunately. He tried to stamp it down. It's not as if he didn't know people with big personalities. He could handle this.

"This is, uh, Jamie."

"They'd love you," Chris said honestly, without a moment of hesitation. "My family would probably want to adopt you as their son rather than me, I bet. Hyejin would adore you too."

He could see it now, Hyejin taking him on walks on the beach. Them all sitting around, having a nice meal. It was a good image, a calm image. He flipped another page, content to let the silence be.

"Jamie," Hyejin said and it was a warm welcome. "I've heard so much about you. All really good things, I promise!"

She laughed, while Chris looked on nervously and ushered Jamie inside. He'd probably want to have the conversation inside, rather than the hallway.

"So tell me, is Chris being okay? He's obnoxious to me, but I'd rather like to know he isn't a bad impression on you guys," She asked, a tease in her voice.

That brought a smile to Jamie's face, a cheeky one, one most people might not get to see. He was playful and he always had been, but until recently he'd never had a chance to express it. "I'm glad..." a sleepy laugh and then, "Not glad they'd disown you or anything. I wouldn't let them, anyway. Promise."

A yawn ended his thought and he went quiet, allowing Chris a moment to grade in peace again. That had been his intention, at least, but heavy eyes and warm fur made it hard to worry about speaking again at all. In fact, Jamie was silent for quite a while after that.

Tucking the book tighter up under one arm, he shuffled into the apartment. "Oh, um, he's told me stuff about you, too. He said you'd probably like me." Wait, was that a weird thing to say? s**t, that was totally a weird thing to say. Please, disregard that, he wanted to continue, but he was far too awkward for that.

"U-U-Uh, a-anyway..." He breathed and his voice was audibly shaking. It would calm down, but he had a hard time avoiding the feeling he'd already botched the conversation. All hail the king of overreacting.

"Well, I-I mean, he was my teacher for a while... soooo, uh, he was professional and stuff." Ughhhh. "Um, but, he's really nice, though. R-Really nice." She'd been teasing, but he took it a little too literally. His answer was genuine.

"Did he? Good, because he's right," Hyejin said, pleased and preening. "It better have been good things though, I don't want my little brother slandering my name."

Hyejin was willing to let him go at his own pace, which Chris knew and was thankful for. For all her forcefulness, she was graceful with people.

"Yes, I can imagine that's kind of weird," Hyejin said, amused. "Good to know he's still as boring as he was as a kid - he taught me English when we were young. He was kinda awkward as a kid, but I'm glad he's nice to you."
