"Guns only got one purpose, though," she pointed out. "Wary isn't bad," America agreed as rolled her shoulders with a wince. "But I think you'll get more out of it by lookin' for the good that can be done, too." After a moment, the girl added, "Before everything went to s**t at the library, us folks starting to see through animal eyes were having a meeting, and someone brought up using it for finding lost hikers, search and rescue type stuff."

"Knives then. They are more versatile," Shun deadpanned. Now that the pain has ebbed some, he folded his arms as he turned towards her, listening. "I suppose that could be useful," he admitted, "Are you only able to see through their eyes, or is there a level of control over their actions as well?"It was an important question to him. If they were able to control the animal, it could also potentially be used as a means of harm, with virtually no way to trace it back to the culprit.

America shook her head, "Naw. But I think maybe with practice I can like...ask him? Kinda? Ms. Lupin..." A pause and for a moment she looks uncomfortable before moving on, "She could do extra with her service pup, Cerby. He um, was able to clue her in when others like her were around. I think maybe already having that kinda...closeness? Or like, communication-y stuff? Helped them do more." Straightening up, she leveled a look at him, "I wanna be able to do more. When the bad side of magic rears its head again."

That wasn't the answer he was hoping for. America and the others with her may not have that level of ability yet, but that wasn't to say it was impossible. Then again, he had to wonder if anything was truly impossible anymore. "Fighting fire with fire, then?"

"How 'bout fighting fire with water?" She gave the detective a cheeky grin and thought about the beach. Of swimming up through the waves of magic. Rocking back on her heels, she considered the man and tried to keep in mind her own disquiet, that the situation involving magic had shifted not just what was possible, but who was left to deal with the fallout of those possibilities. "But you know about it now, more than most of the rest of cops 'round here I guess. And from what I've heard, the magic stuff touching the normal places and people, it's happening more." America smiled at him, "Wouldn't you try the same as me, given the chance?"

"Well if you have a way to neutralize magic, then I am all ears," he mumbled. Shun gingerly stretched himself out as he stood by. "Yes well. I used to consider myself as being normal, if that is any sort of indication."He was normal. Until he found out that he could levitate s**t with his mind. "Try what exactly? Seeing through the eyes of an animal?"

"Try to get better at it, if you could." Nodding, she added, "Find ways to make it an advantage. To make sure it's a good thing." She winced again, but this time it was from the bluejay's shriek beside her ear before it took off, flying until he was out of sight. " Jesus wept, he's got a mouth on him. Or beak, I guess..."

"And what if it ends up being more trouble than it is worth?" he asked, watching her carefully. Shun took note that the bird flew on off, but he didn't pay it much mind for the time being. "Songbird. What do you expect?"

"I don't like living with regrets," she wrinkled her nose at the thought of it. "And I'd sure as hell regret hanging back and being a pile of what if's the rest of my life." Her smile grew decidedly cheeky, "Is being a cop more trouble than it's worth?"

Her expression and posture made it clear that America felt she had won...something. "Well there you go! Now here's my number, just in case I can help you down the road." She was already bringing out her own phone, to put in his without a second thought that he might refuse.

Grunting lowly, Shun pulled his own phone out for America to input her own number into. He seemed somewhat reluctant about it, however.

She gives him a wink followed by a finger gun. America's, at least, didn't actually shoot things at him. "It's important to be accurate." Opening the text she'd sent herself from his phone, the girl edits the entry and then shows him that too. Bad Boys Bad Boys 😐🚔Remembering something, she asks, "Oh yeah, are you single, hun?"
