Also I feel like we're really pushing communication outside of the guild, when we really haven't spent enough time together in here to know each other well enough to do so comfortably. I feel like it's more important to focus on creating a community within the guild before branching outside if you want something close knit. Just having one thread set up similarly to the introductions thread with various ways to contact others is probably a better way of going about it.

If you guys are serious about this, you need to be serious and spend a few minutes on housekeeping and setup to make this guild great. I'm sorry if I'm being bitchy, but just changing the front page every day isn't enough.

As it is it's been almost a week and the forum still looks messy.

^^ I totally agree. While Skyping is nice we should know each other better first. Also a thread where members can list other people who might like to join the guild. Is another effective way of getting new blood.

Subforums--Entertainment, crafts, kids/pets, work stuff,

everyone loves different things. but everyone loves to be entertained.
kiddos and pets would be fun for the ladies that do have kids and pets.
me, personally, I love the idea of crafting. but that's just me. maybe others don't.
work stuff just because people need to talk about it.

Entertainment is Gaia Games o:
Crafts and pets are in random chat (Unless you're selling your crafts, then it goes into Shoppes and barter)
Work and kids are under real life c:

We didn't want to make too many as it then becomes too specific and we'd only have a couple of posts in each subforum. This way each subject does have a place to go. If anyone's confused, we'll happily help them~

I meant entertainment as in movies and books and such. Music too. They're all different. Also, put a suggestion thread for whoever knows an awesome band/book/movie/whatever. Ya know, "I've seen this over and over...I need something new..."

Look if the guild is active enough, there's no need to worry about having "just a few threads" in each subforum. Even if it happens it's better not to try lumping too many things together. These subforums are very vague and are trying to put too many things together that don't really fit together.

Entertainment can mean gaia games and posting games, but it can also mean real life books, music, movies, video games. It honestly feels like the suggestions aren't being taken seriously. When people go to a Gaia Games forum, they probably want to talk about the games here and play posting games, not talk about their favourite movie.

Crafts and hobbies could be it's own subforum, confusion arises when it's lumped in with "random chat". I'm sure a Health and Beauty subforum would be very popular, and while you could argue that it could go in "life", it's can easily overpower it.

Again, it also just makes everything so much easier to find.

We're trying the best we can. Right now the guild is active but we want to see how many people will join before we jump to it being active enough that we can have enough subforums. We're getting prepared on chatrooms, yes that has been our main focus as it helps us talk to you guys in real time while we manage irl work, but we're doing the best we can here. We don't want many subforums but took your ideas into account and acted on it. It's not that we're not taking them seriously, we're just seeing what works and what doesn't. If we weren't taking any ideas seriously then we wouldn't act on them at all.

Please be patient with us while we figure out how we want the forums to look. As you mentioned we are only a week old here, we're still a baby, so give us credit for getting as organized as we are including our daily lives.

Honestly, it is already a week old, and creating a few subforums takes like 5 minutes. It should have been done before people were invited. You have several people here telling you what they want, so obviously what you're doing isn't working. You don't need a lot of activity or members to see that. I've been a successful captain of a couple of guilds and I've always had a very active and social lifestyle with work and school, etc. (although now I do nothing but school and sleep), so yeah, I promise you that I do understand the position you're in and I really do feel for you, but a little organization takes just a few minutes and goes a really long way.

Again, pushing communication outside of Gaia might be something you're aiming for, and that's great, but you need to give people the tools to get to know each other within the guild before that's going to be successful.

I'm still really not trying to sound nasty, I'm just very serious so I tend to come off as harsh.

Yeah you're quite serious and it does sound harsh, but I understand where you're coming from at least. xD

You want to help us succeed and I get that but we're trying our best. Since I live in the UK and Vol lives in Atlanta, it can be hard to agree on something and then act on it thanks to time zones. When I'm sleeping she's just come in from work and when I'm working she's sleeping. Luckily today we were actually able to talk and start with the subforums but we're still deciding on how many we want and what each will be of.

I get that each subforum right now seems to have squished different sub-genres of entertainment etc into one but we thought, for now, that would do until we figure out what other ones to make. We're acting on the ideas we're given, we're trying to find the time to talk to one another and plan it all out, and then actually acting on those ideas.

The reason we did the chatrooms outside of Gaia first was so we could all talk together, as a group, in real time making it easier for us to see what needs work and what's struggling. The forums have been an issue for a while and, like I said, we're seeing what we like to have for the forums and what we don't like. Once we figure out how we want the forums to look then we'll act on it. The one thing I don't wanna do is make the forums look like any other social guild. I want ours to be unique and draw people in rather than them thinking it's another boring social guild. To figure out how to make it that unique will take time; to see what works and what doesn't will take time. We'll get there in the end, that's a fact!

Plus the other reason we haven't acted on the forums until now is the fact that not having subforums, I find, makes it look friendlier and more welcoming. People can post any where and there's no rules about where you have to post, you can just post. I get now, though, that people prefer having order and tidiness over the post any where feeling.

Edited: I'm heading to bed so good night and chat later~ heart
